Dash, it looks like I'm going back into the matrix of the hospital. Do you want to just do it off the boards when the group asks me to do stuff and you can just narrate the little passages when i'm asked to make a change?
@Kurb: I didn't notice tinker's posts until after I posted. Yeah it looks like I knew what you two were saying, but I was going on what mojo said over the comm to akuma. It struck me after I posted it, but I didn't want to edit my IC posts incase it would throw people off.

If you guys are thinking of doing a quick smach and grab, do you really want the floor plans and stuff that you asked for? If not, I'm ready to go with the stuff I need to work up (other than those plans). Let me know if you need them and I work on them (keep working on them) and get them to you.

I've been meaning to ask, Dash, what program do you use for making the flash maps? Looks quite neat.
Dashifen
Nov 3 2003, 04:45 PM
uhm ... flash
With the rectangle drawing tool and some time you can do a lot for floor plans. Then, if you know some basic actionscripting, you can do roll overs on buttons for descritptions like I did for the rose. The hospital took some time (thank god for copy/paste for all those windows) but it was still basically a series of rectangles. Hardest part was probely skewing the word "EMERGENCY" so it looked right over the doors to the smaller building.

Either way we do it, smash and grab or not, I like the idea of going in through normal means (visiting hours anyone?) and then leaving through the window. If you all want, I can find out the names of other patients on the floor that Gio's on, and you can all just walk in and go "hi, I'm here to visit so-and-so" simple yet effective. Of course saying you're here to visit Gio could be a bit suspicious...

How do you plan to get by the guards outside his room? And what do you plan to do about Sophia if she's not on our side (I don't know why she would be). We could easily knock her out through the window if we go in when she's sleeping. Then we don't have to worry about guards or front desk people, or any personnel for that matter.

One thing you would all know about Akuma is that he really prefers to work at night. You don't exactly know why, maybe he is just weird that way, but he tries to avoid working durring the day at all costs.
Elfie
Nov 3 2003, 09:52 PM
Working at night's fine by me. It's the watcher spirit that bugs me, something tells me Sophia isn't just going to let her guard down that easily. I don't plan to get by the guards outside his room, that's not my field of expertise (although with a CHA 6, Etiquette 6, Negotiations 6, it probably is), since I'll be off site doing the overwatch.

If someone tries to pull a fire alarm, Rowans going ot tray to hide and grab on of the last people out of the service entrance, but only if they try.
Elfie
Nov 4 2003, 03:15 PM
Are there any fire alarms on the outside of a building??
Dashifen
Nov 4 2003, 04:03 PM
No. Alternatively, you could set fire to the building
If you want to set a fire alarm, either you'll have to get to a jackpoint and use the matrix or walk inside and pull the alarm there.

I'm still here and waiting to see when you guys need me next. The hospital is pretty slow, so there aren't too many people moving around. And I'm just waiting to see if you guys go in or if we jump to 9am tomorrow at the Rose when Alessandro said Jimmy could get you guys a larger vehicle than Alice's sportscar.

The main reason I'm following Lex is in case something happens, shouldn't let your guard down just because you feel your safe for the night. You never know who might be watching us. I learned that the hard way.

You must have played with some pretty nasty GM's
Dashifen
Nov 7 2003, 02:18 PM
Yeah, I'm not that nasty. While the world may be a dirtier, nastier place, I don't usually do random Go-Gang attacks and shite like that unless there's a reason in the plot lines.
Unless anyone wants to do anything before 9:00am tomorrow, like Lex trying to go in and check on Gio, let me know and we'll do that. If not, I'm going to seque directly to the rose when some or all of you meet Jimmy for a <Rod Roddy Voice>brand new car!</Rod Roddy Voice>.

Yeah, I've played with some nasty GMs too, Brian if you are reading this, that means you!

I'm not sure if nasty is even the word to describe a couple of the GM's I've had. Random gang attacks was a daily part of life. One time I went in to grab some Faygo and when I came out he had a bomb on my bike, and I was ambushed by some Gang...then after I barely escaped that I got jumped when I was trying to get to a street doc. Luckily he was in a good mood and the street doc saved me. THEN when I was leavin there I got attacked again by the same gang the street doc saved me from, he said they wanted vengence. Also, if you did a run against a megacorp, well make sure you update your will, cuz if you walked away breathing, well you da shit, to put it mildly. But all in all it was fun, it reflected the violence of Seattle that is sometimes overlooked in games. (Don't get any ideas!)
Grey
Nov 7 2003, 06:39 PM
Wow, thats just... lame. I wouldn't even play with a GM that was that bad.

Nov 7 2003, 07:10 PM
Are you all going to get down to planning immediately after returning to Lex's place? It's probably about 11:00pm figuring in travel time from Lex's to the hospital, some time spent at the hospital deciding what to do and then travel time back to Lex's.
If you guys don't get some sleep before the next day, anyone without a sleep regulatore may be suffering from exhaustion. I usually roll that as a body roll against a TN equal to the number of hours awake minus 18 (figuring that the average person might be able to run on 6 hours of sleep for a while and not be a problem -- especially someone like a shadowrunner).
What do you want to do?

What time are we meeting to pick up the car tomorrow? Akuma is a night person, so 11 is early as far as he is concerned.

It was agreed to meet at The Rose at 9am to pick up the SUV. Lex is suppose to give me a ride on his bike.

Nov 7 2003, 07:43 PM
Ok, well, it shouldn't take more than an hour of game time to start fleshing out a solid plan, so I think we're ok to RP this out, right? If you guys would rather wait till tomorrow, just say so and Akuma will wait till then to go over things.

If it's 11pm at my house right now, we could probably flesh this all out in an hour, like Grey said, get some sleep, and meet at the rose at 9am tomorrow with no real problem (8 hours of sleep is a luxury for me).

Coupla questions for you Dash. Wanna do a quick Matrix run again? I need to try to get more info on the guards. Second question, what time of year are we running in? Third, When did you say visiting hours were again?
Dashifen
Nov 10 2003, 08:46 PM
1) About the matrix run: Sure! I'll be around tomorrow night for a while IRL, and we can do all the rolling then and I'll post it like last time for convenience sake
2) It's Jan. 28th. The ground is pretty clear as it hasn't snowed in a while. The roads are all clear of snow and ice. There are some snow piles in parking lots and such where it was moved to. The weather for tonight through tomorrow night is partly sunny moving to cloudy with a 20% chance of snow developing late tomorrow (the 29th). The high temp is 37 degrees farenheight (about 3 degrees centigrade) and the low over night is going to be 3 degrees farenheight (-16 degrees centigrade).
3) Visiting ours are between 10:00am and 5:00am

No, the roof access is by stair only. The small booths you can see on the roof
here represent roof access from a stairwell lying directly beneath the aforementioned booths. Since it looks like they will be useful to you, I will create the blueprints in flash for you guys tomorrow (I know I've said that like three times, but in the past you all moved on to other ideas and I decided to wait until they were truely necessary before worring about them.

Nov 13 2003, 08:23 PM
Thanks! After a while, as you can probably tell, it came down to cut and paste for all the walls. I kinda figured that most hospitals would probably look similar from floor to floor to avoid too much confusion. But adding in all the buttons for roll-over effects was a pain.
If you have any questions from the maps, let me know. I have them all printed for myself with some notes about the directions of doors and such that might be important.
Also, Elfie: are we doing a matrix run? If so, what are the objectives? If you're going back into the hospital's grid, then I already have the stuff I need ready, but if you're planning on going in the Star's database to see if they have anyone on guard duty, I'll need to put some information together.

Mojo's got an athletics of 4 so he should be able to climb if that's the plan. The only reason for him to go in would be to provide spell support inside during the initial movements. However, he offers some stuff from outside, too... it's up to the group.
Grey
Nov 15 2003, 12:00 AM
Well, if you could hold invis spells on Rowan and I, that would be great. Anything that makes it harder for us to be seen going in the window would help a lot. The only problem would be if Sophia wakes up and blasts us with spells, but Akuma is VERY fast and may be able to get the drop on her before she can react.
TinkerGnome
Nov 15 2003, 12:08 AM
Actually, I can throw in stealth spells on top of the invisibility spells, too. Mojo has focused concentration, so he'd be looking at 6's and 7's to cast the silence spells. It's worth noting that if Sophia doesn't use astral perception, she won't be able to hit you with spells. And if she does, we might be able to set up a watcher ambush for her.
Grey
Nov 16 2003, 03:39 AM
If you cast Silence on me and I break the window, will it make noise? I can't remember if the spell makes my movement silent, or if anything I do is silent as well.
TinkerGnome
Nov 16 2003, 04:58 AM
Silence is a different story, since Mojo only knows Stealth
However, stealth would mask the sound of anything you touched, so breaking the window wouldn't make noise. The glass hitting the floor would, though.
Grey
Nov 16 2003, 05:58 AM
Ah... but it would make my use of the glasscutter silent...
Elfie
Nov 16 2003, 10:23 PM
OK sorry I've been out of commission the past few days. Whatever you guys plan is fine by me. It looks like they want me to find out if those guards are Star, so I'd like to dive back into the hospital's grid and try to get a better look at the guards. Otherwise, whenever you guys wanna run, I'll do overwatch, and set up a comm channel so you can still contact me.
TinkerGnome
Nov 16 2003, 10:30 PM
My current thought is that we're looking at three points of contact. We've got the girl inside the room, the guards outside the room, and a fair chance that there's a watcher hanging around. If Mojo can see the watcher from the ground, then we'll deal with it, otherwise it probably won't be a problem if we're in and out fast. Our lady friend may be a different story, but if we're really quiet and/or she's asleep, that'll solve itself. The last and easiest is the guards outside. Those are a little harder to deal with, but also easier to avoid.
Grey
Nov 18 2003, 11:50 PM
What are we waiting on right now? As far as I can tell, its Elfie doing his matrix run. I just don't want this game to drop off.
