I could just go in solo, I can take em!
Elfie
Dec 11 2003, 08:33 PM
OK i'm lost as to who's where. So far we have Lex in the car, Akuma doing the rappel thing, where is Mojo exactly, and Either Alice or Rowan was supposed to be with Akuma on the roof, I can't remember which...
Grey
Dec 11 2003, 08:35 PM
Heh, you are way off...
Rowan is going solo on the roof. I'm going inside with Alice. Mojo is in the van with you, concentrating on sustaining all the spells.
Elfie
Dec 11 2003, 08:35 PM
So who's driving the van then?
Grey
Dec 11 2003, 08:39 PM
Thats a good question, that was gunna be Alice. How about if we have Alice NPC driving the car and Mojo can come in with me?
Dashifen
Dec 12 2003, 02:02 PM
The way I understand it (YMMV):
- Akuma -- inside
- Rowan -- roof
- Alice and Lex -- car
- Mojo -- ?????
This is because Alice is the driver and for now an NPC, unless (until) Kurb gets back. Lex is decking from the car (freesat) and Rowan is the backup up top. Rowan's got more gear than the UCAS Troll Marines so she definately doesn't want to go in the front door right now unless necessary. Akuma was going in the front to deal with the guards as Rowan deals with the window.
Mojo -- do you want inside or oustide -- inside you get to deal with guards, outside you get to help Rowan deal with climbing, glass, perhaps Sophia, etc.

Dec 12 2003, 02:16 PM
As an aside -- the way I run NPCs is to have them perform any action that you guys ask them to unless I think they would jump in to perform their purpose. So, Alice will automatically want to help you guys out by parking the van where you guys want it. However, she's not going to go in guns blazing unless you tell her to because it's not her part of the plan.
Also, I don't have her entire gear list (I may have lost it) so I'll improvise if necessary.

Mojo can do quite a lot from the outside (infact, possibly more than inside). So he'll be in the shotgun seat of the car. Specificly, he'll be casting stealth and Improved Invisibility on the inside man, and then levitating out the target.

Spellcasting: Force 5 Improved Invisibility then Force 5 Silence. Both are drain 3M and TN 4 (with sustaining modifiers to the second one cast with focused concentration). For both castings, it'll be 12 dice to cast, six dice to resist drain (trauma dampner).
Dashifen
Dec 12 2003, 05:28 PM
Imp Invis(4): 01 11 05 03 01 14 05 04 15 04 11 05 (9 successes = 5 due to force limit)
Drain(3M): 04 02 10 03 16 04 (5 successes = no drain)
Stealth(5): 04 05 05 02 09 05 04 05 02 03 10 03 (6 successes = 5 due to force limit)
Drain(4M): 01 04 02 16 02 10 (3 successes = no drain due to trauma dampner)
For those kinds of rolls --- where the TN doesn't rely on modifiers that are up to me --- just roll them yourself. Saves time. Just let me know the successes and your drain and that's okay with me.

Dec 12 2003, 05:55 PM
Hmm... I didn't think indirect illusions had a force limit on successes, the force instead being the TN to see through them. If you want to play it that way, though, it's fine with me, seeing as how a TN 5 perception roll isn't overly likely to net 5 successes.
More spellcasting, though
Same dice for all of 'em since I dropped the initial spells.
Levitate (3): 5 successes (limit 3 for effect), No drain
Imp Invis force (5): 3 successes, No drain (TD saves me again)
then:
Stealth (5): 8 successes, No drain
Imp Invis (5): 7 successes, No drain
Geeze, mcmackie's die roller liked me for those second two

I still prefer to roll by hand (even when I'm rolling 21 dice as my decker).
I guess Lex will be in the back seat of the car then.
OK here we go. I need to log into FreeSat, then bounce into the Hospital's grid:

FreeSat access: Deception 6: 10,8,8,5,5,5,4,4,3,3,3,3,2,2,1,1,1,1,1 (my dice hate me today)
Find Hospital Grid: Browse 6: 23, 10,9,5,5,4,4,4,4,3,3,3,3,2,2,2,2,2,1 (i take that back)
Log on to Hospial Grid: Deception 6: 11,9,9,7,5,5,5,5,5,5,4,4,3,2,1,1,1,1,1
If people start shooting star, I'll make an edit slave test to loop the cameras, but right now i'm just trying to get in and sit.
@Dash: I still know where the slave subsystem is in the Hospital's grid, at least for the cameras, right?

I'm probably missing something. What I thought was happening is that Rowan was going to the roof and then going inside while Akuma was going to wait inside as backup. The spells cast were set 1) erroneous (this set was dropped), set 2) on Rowan to get him to the roof, and set 3) on Rowan once he was on the roof for the breakin.
I think I was mixing up Akuma and Rowan's roles in the breakin. Anyway, if Akuma needs spells cast on him, it might get difficult/interesting, and I'll need to roll those at the increased drain codes and TNs (which I haven't already).

I just spent seven hours building an otaku for grey's game so I'm pooped. Let me go back and look at the IC thread and get thigns straightened out tomorrow. As I understood it, you were making Akuma invisible and stealthy and you were makeing Rowan invisible and levitating her to the roof. I'll check everything tomorrow morning.

Akuma is going inside and taking out the guards, then moving into the room from there. Rowan is going to the roof, then repelling down and coming in through the window. Please don't drop the spells on me.

Looks to me like these rolls are correct for the number and type of spells that you were supposed to cast. The numbers in parenthesis the force of the spells? Also, I limit the number of successes for all spells based on the force of the spell. So the second invis and the steal spell both have 5 effective successes for the purposes of seeing through the illusions.

I modified a perception test giving it a +2 for trying to be discreet while suspended from a rope and peeking in the window. Espcially considering you probably went down feet-first as any normal person would climp and not head first, so peeking discretely through a window below you would suck. Results are posted on the IC thread.

Rowan is shielded by a force 5 stealth (5 successes) spell which should make noise negligible. Also, there's a force 5 improved invisibility (also 5 successes) on top of that.
Dashifen
Dec 17 2003, 03:25 PM
Stealth only protects against noise that she makes -- the very very slight noise that she would make as she turns the glass cutter is not heard, but the scratching of the cutter on the glass, the pop as it leaves the glass and the ringing of the pane that the vibration caused did make noise.
Works the same as Akuma -- if he takes a shot, it won't make a noise because of the spell, but the guards will cry out, the slug will hit them and make a thump, etc.

Elfie
Dec 22 2003, 05:15 PM
Yeah, sorry for the delay, I'm at home without my character sheet.
So it's probably be easier to pull up Gio's chart to see if he was moved. If that shows up as nothing, I'd want to look for a memo indicating prisoner movement. Since the guards are still outside I'm thinking Sophia magicked him somewhere else (or they could still be in the room
).
Dash, you should have my sheet, you can make the rolls as you see fit. I'd probably want to check the cameras first, since if the guards are still there, then he probably wasn't 'officially' moved. If that's fruitless, I'd like to check his file and/or hospital records of prisoner movement. Any IC I destroy, suppress with my hacking pool. My sensor is halved because of the doubling of my Masking.

Remember: locate file is an interogative op, therefore you need 5 successes before it's successful.
Locate File: (3 successes)
Locate File: (1 success)
Locate File: (0 successes) *shit man, you're going the wrong way!!*
At this point you noticed the activation of a Probe IC. Recognizing it from the last one you fried (in the previous matrix run) so you blast it. Finishing your interrogative operation (c'mon swartz....)
Locate File: (0 successes) *stupid swartz*
Locate File: (1 success) -- that'll do it
Anticipating the fact that after you find out where's he's gone to, you'll want to take a peak there as well, I'm going to roll up the number of rolls it takes you to see into the room and see into the hallway. Then, let me know which one you want or both. Any cybercombat that takes place as a reslt of your actions to find these two cameras we'll save until you tell me which one you want in which order.
To find hallway camera: 4 rolls
To find room camera: 6 rolls
let me know if you want to do one, the other, or both. Then, we can resolve any necessary cybercombat.

Grey -- I wonder if we're misunderstanding each other or if you're misreading the maps I made (as much my fault as yours -- not trying to assign blame
). Made a smaller graphic of the important area of floor 4
here. I think that you thought the elevator opened the other way.
When I made the blueprints I neglected to mark which way the elevators opened, but they always open into that large open space which is a small sitting area.
Does that change what you want to do?
Also, if you're wondering, I didn't pick room 422 on purpose because I knew you were working on a windowed escape -- i rolled three six sided dice and that was the result. I didn't even realize there wasn't a window there until Grey said something *blush*

OK, so first off, I'd look into the room to verify he's there, and who's with him. Second, I'd look into the hallway camera to see what's guarding him. Any combat I'd get into, I'd try to be conservative with my hacking dice for improvised defense, but I'd still use some for extra punch on my attack-D.
And that's not the correct file. I had a couple of minor changes after that one, like the middle lifestyle, but nothing relevant to what's happening now, the hacking pools and programs are all the same.
