Zion went through a list of prep work he usually did before going on a job that he could help with. Mostly this would be a snatch and grab and his skills wouldnt be utilized until the moment came that the Mr. nobody went bye bye. None the less Zion felt like something was missing he couldn't quite put his finger on it maybe it was nothing but it was more like a feeling. <@Team[Zion]"Feels like we are overlooking something simple, probably nothing, I think we have done all we can do for now as far as planning so unless we have anything else Lets meet up again in the morning and mull things out and let the mojo and bithead do thier prep stuff till morning then we can move on to other leads say around noon tomorrow. Sounds good?">

< [Aeryn] Yep, sounds good. Getting the truck hopefully won't be much of a problem. If we can stop any tracking signals they might have in there, we should be good. The tricky part starts, when we enter that corp building, of course. >

Sizing the rest of the team up and down surreptitiously, Lucky figured a few basic size delivery jumpsuits would do the trick, and one extra-extra-extra-large jumpsuit in case the troll joined them. Thinking about it more, having the troll along would be really handy. Accessing the 'Net and quickly finding the location of A++ Uniforms, he put in an order.

<<@A++ Sales[Speedy Gonzales]I would like to purchase 6 Large basic gray color delivery jumpsuits for my new company, Speedy Delivery. I would like the company name in large black block text along the front and back of the jumpsuit. I would like these ready by tomorrow before noon. Also one extra jumpsuit in XXXL (troll-sized if available).>>

"Papa, let me see that chip for a moment. I just want to slot it to copy all the data so that I can review it tonight...ok thanks. Got it. Here it is back. Shotgun Joe, you willing to give me a ride back to WICANS?"

Right before leaving with the group of Chosen, Lucky turned around and asked "Tomorrow at noon - where?"

Lucky; PAN = hidden [Skinlink]; SIN = Hugo Sanchez (not broadcast)

The ride back to WICANS was a little faster than the ride over - traffic had thinned since earlier, probably the rush to get to the Mall as it opened. Shotgun Joe was his usual taciturn self, and Lucky didn't begrudge him that. He himself was deep in thought, mulling over the plans for the coming night. He had his Redmond mapsofts pulled up and was trying to plot angles, routes, timings. His detective skills were coming in handy for this, although from a different side of the line this time.

In front of WICANS, Hugo had just enough time to catch Cabre hurtlingly at him, as he watched Joe depart after thanking him profusely for the lift. Taking a few moments to roughhouse with the dog, Hugo wished he could check on his mother to make sure she had settled in ok. Seeing that WICANS was locked up tight, seemingly safe, and figuring that no news was good news, Lucky gratefully accepted the further lift home from Shotgun Joe.

Lucky; PAN = hidden [Skinlink]; SIN = Hugo Sanchez (not broadcast)

Smiling at the morning light burning into his skin, Hugo felt good again, alive again, as he took another sip of perfectly-brewed coffee. Last night after reaching their apartment, he and Cabre had settled in to their room to catch some sleep, remembering it had been two days since they had last had a good night's rest.

Feeling mostly refreshed this morning, they had made their way to Jane's and the morning elixir Hugo craved. Cabre was chasing his tail just now, something he never got tired of doing. Hugo remembered he needed to retrieve his jacket and other LS gear from the back of Jane's before heading to the meet at noon. In the meanwhile, he could relax here at Jane's, do a little planning for the upcoming run, maybe catch a short nap too...

< [Aeryn] Ok, let's get a quick rundown on what we are planning before we depart...

We will 'borrow' a delivery truck, that is just being completed in Tacoma, after the shop closes.
Then, we will break into that Wall-E-World warehouse tomorrow evening and load stuff into the truck, getting it to the shelter.

Or

We will hijack a Wall-E-World delivery truck (one that is full of stuff) and meet with the other team handling the second truck to transfer the goods.
We have to make sure that truck cannot be tracked, and probably need to change its look, too.

Afterwards, we will take one of those trucks to our target and proceed from there, using the access J gave us and then improvise, right?
We have no longer than until 4 am to do all this.

We will meet again tomorrow at noon at someplace still to be specified. Did I miss anything? >

Papa uploads the data to Lucky, passing it across as an ARO of a picnic basket full of food.

Shotgun Joe nods at Lucky, "Sure" He downs the rest of his beer. "One stop on the way out." The other Chosen do the same and then prepare to depart.

<<@Team [Papa] Probably shouldn't use the stolen truck to deliver the food to the shelter. Too many opportunities to be caught on errant video in route.>>

The young mage awoke to the sound of automatic fire somewhere in the distance. Sitting up, he realizes he is in his own bed. He remembers the meeting and the team going their own way, then a few drinks with Johnny Two-Toes. From there, the night is just a blur.

Sitting a few more minutes trying to decide whether to get up or go back to sleep, he hears a couple of shouts outside the building; Not loud enough to make out the words, but definitely right outside the building.

Lucky

Shotgun Joe and the other Chosen had taken Lucky by WICANS to get Cabre. WICANS is locked up tight, as they would be after dark, when the predators prowl. Cabre come from somewhere nearby in response to a whistle and a call.

The buses had long ago stopped running for the night in southern Puyallups (hell most places across the city, let alone the Puyallups). Michael suggests the crew drop Lucky at home. Cabre takes the ride in the side car in stride and the duo find themselves home soon enough.

Sleep had been short and light, but moving as early as he did tended to avoid the problem elements who stayed up late and slept late. As Lucky quickly made his way through his first cup of soycaf, Jane retrieved his gear from the back room. "Well, I hope everything went well last night." she says genuinely as she heads back to the bar.

Zion is very groggy and rubs the sleep from his eyes, just having a hard time waking up. Rolling over he rolls right into 3B. Shaking his head, he trying to remember what happened last night... The meet, some followup, team splits up, takes 3B back to the hood, stops for drinks at a little hole-in-the-wall called "Dragon's" and then really nothing else.

As Zion stirs, 3B wakes up as well. She rolls over, facing the sam. "Well Mr Light-Weight" she says playfully, "you ready to finish what you started?"

The silent, incessant beeping of his commlink conspired with the glowing flashes of light behind his eyes to pull Lucky from a deep slumber. Rubbing his eyes with his hand, he found that he had been sitting at a small table against the wall. The wall was all that was currently keeping his slouching form from falling over. Straightening up, he looked around the coffee shop interior. Nothing much seemed out of the ordinary here - Jane was busy filling a rather large to-go order, dealing with some impatient customers. She seemed to have matters under control.

The beeping continued, sounding louder than thunder. Lucky turned this way and that trying to find the source. He wondered if others heard it too. Suddenly realizing what was causing the noise, he mentally clicked a "button" to accept the incoming team message. Scanning it at an almost unconscious level, he realized he would need to hurry. Had to put on a good show for this new group. Impress them. Let them know he was useful...not dead weight...not a cripple.

Seeing that Danny must have left while he was asleep, Lucky mentally commanded his commlink to pay his tab, adding a quick thank-you tag for Jane. Shouldering his gear, he stepped outside the shop and whistled to Cabre. They had to get moving if they were going to make it there on time.

Relatively deep in the Barrens where Knight Errant fears the travel, the team has traveled. The roads were several decades since the last time they were consistently maintained as is almost every building in the last dozen blocks in every direction. Meridian Ave is in much better shape than 224th Street and as Aeryn passes a truck from Petrowski Farms she realizes where some maintenance may actually come from.

The Bishop's Corpse is not a lot to look at from the outside, but it has gotten a fresh coat of paint in the last few years. Even at 10am, it is a social hub. The arrival of the team is tracked by the eyes of the gangers sitting on the bikes on the edge of the lot and a trio of old men standing by an old, beat up pickup truck. It the lot next to the restaurant is Bishop's Soup Kitchen.

The windows have security bars over then and the front door is a heavy security type. Inside, the place has a down home, mom-and-pop feel. A pretty elven waitress shows the team to a table. In the corner a group of old men sit talking over coffee and a young couple sits at another table enjoying a late breakfast. Inside, its hard to believe that just beyond the doors, back outside is no man's land.

Finding Shotgun Joe buying soykaf just when Lucky needed a ride! With the wind of his travel whipping him in the face as he went, Lucky once again remarked to himself how lucky he was. Looking over at Cabre, he could see that he was enjoying himself in the sidecar, tongue hanging out happily in the air. Lucky figured the introduction he made between Joe and Jane might pay off - he wasn't good at reading people these days, but the two seemed somewhat interested in each other. It had sure seemed to help Joe feel more inclined to give Lucky this ride.

Arriving at the Corpse, Lucky stiffly got off the back of the bike and thanked Joe. He wasn't used to riding on a motorcycle so much, muscles he didn't know were there were beginning to sing to him. Maybe he should get a bike of his own, nothing fancy, just something small...pushing the doors to the bar open, Lucky entered with his new teammates. Looking back over his shoulder at Cabre, he gave him the eyes that meant "stay, and I'll bring you a treat!"

Joe grinned his dwarvish, bearded grin when he saw Lucky heading into the Bishop's Corpse. Giving the bike gangers a once-over, Joe pulled his goggles back down and roared off.

Zion and 3B are the first to arrive at The Bishop's Corpse and find a table easily with it being between breakfast and lunch. Neither the old men, nor the couple give them much of a second glance. The waitress presents real paper menus and glasses of clean water. The glasses are a high quality plastic that resembles actual glass and the water appears to have been once, or even twice, though a good filter. The menu is simple though the food is noted as "true", "pure" and "real" as opposed to "-like" and "soy-". The prices are definitely higher than expected for some place in the Barrens, but low if the food is really real.

Hugo steps in a moment later. The old men all watch his entrance, but after the one-armed man heads over to Zion's table, they pay him little more attention.

Passing a dwarf leaving on a street bike with a side-car as she pulls into the restaurant's lot, Aeryn pulls up next to Zion's motorcycle. The gangers in the corner lot take head of her arrival, but leave her un-accosted. Aeryn's entrance into the restaurant captures and keeps the old men's attention. They continue their soft conversation, which picks up in spirit with her arrival. She appears to have given them a pleasant distraction to their otherwise drab morning.

Several minutes later, Cynic arrives. By the dirt on his jacket & clothes and the scowl on his face it has not been a good morning. He sits down with a thud and looks at the others gathered around the table. "What?"

This far out in the Barrens, comlink communication is restricted to mutual signal range as no matrix signal exists.

Giving his sunglasses a moment to adjust to the change in lighting, Lucky stood and glanced around at the other patrons of the restaurant. Mentally sizing up the old men and the couple, he filed them away in his mind and then found his teammates sitting at a nearby table. Nodding at them, he slid in next to Zion and glanced at the paper menu in front of him. Behind his dark sunglasses his eyes went wide, then narrowed as he scanned and rescanned and rescanned his choices. Lucky finally found the cheapest thing on the menu and prepared to order after his other teammates arrived.

Sitting back and taking an appreciative sip of his water, he said to Zion and 3B, "I've prepared some preliminary options for our different routes tonight. Maybe when Papa appears we can use an encrypted channel to discuss this stuff."

Saying this triggered Lucky's memory about his inquiry into uniforms the night before. He sent out a quick message.

<<@A++ Uniforms Sales[Speedy Gonzales]: I'm inquiring about my order from last night for '5 large, gray and one troll-sized jumpsuits' for 'Speedy Delivery'. I need delivery of this order today, as early as possible.>>

After a moments time, Lucky realized that his message wasn't actually being sent. Querying his commlink, he pulled up the error log and set a filter searching for his message. Understanding dawned when he saw the results and realized he didn't have a matrix signal. Sighing, he hoped that maybe when Papa arrived he would have some hacker tricks to boost the signal or use a sat-link or something. Lucky, for the umpteenth time, found himself missing his Lone Star gear. That never was out of signal range, it seemed.

<<@Team [Papa] Another minute or so out. Ran into a little difficulty.>>

<<@Speedy Gonzales [A++ Uniforms Sales]: Mr Gonzales, thank you for your order. Those seven uniforms come to 300 nuyen.gif. Please remit payment and provide a SIN to link to the account and we will be happy to have them printed in 4 hours.>>

A little over another minute passes and the door opens again. A troll enters wearing a black jumpsuit and backpack. He is pulling lead rounds off of the jumpsuit. As he walks forward, he is favoring his left leg. He pulls a troll sized chair from a nearby wall and slides it over to the table before sitting on it. "Yo"

"Errr...yes. Let's get started!" Lucky's nerves began to kick in a little. It began to feel real, this run. He'd done low-level break-and-entering before, sure. Small stuff, just to stay afloat. He'd always found a way to pay the store back afterwards. No guns, no combat, no real danger for those. But this.... He wasn't a stranger to having a gun pointed at him, having many many guns pointed at him and all fired at the same time, blowing his body back into the patrol car as his partner tried to pull his weapon as the shadows bore down on both of them...

Snapping back into the moment, Lucky began throwing up some AR maps on the team net, highlighting the maps with the pertinent areas as he talked.

"Here's the area around the Wall-E World distribution center. We don't have the usual route that the delivery vans take, do we? I guess we don't. We'll have to follow one and hit it when it seems best. I've marked some areas here and here and here that I think would make good spots - low visibility, low presence of Lone St...I mean, Knight Errant patrols.

The other van shouldn't be anywhere near these areas, so as not to have it linked with the Wall-E heist. I suggest they rendezvous with us here - it's on the way to the loading docks. Once we transfer our haul to their van, we continue on our way. On the way to the loading docks, we change into the delivery uniforms I've ordered for us. Once we gain access...we gain access and...and we"

Here Lucky's speech faltered and died away. He looked around him, hoping someone would pick up the thread of the planning.

Papa looks at the AR map, then at Lucky and asks. "How up to date is your knowledge about patrol patterns?"
The hacker adds more on TeamNet.
<<@Team [Papa] I've done a little digging and I'm concerned about the matrix security at this place. The fact that the spiders are issued coms told me these guys aren't chumps. It also seems they've recently invested in TI. That means somewhere in the facility there is an area where all nodes, hidden or not, are cataloged. We need to be pretty precise on how we plan the infiltration. I'm thinking we better buy some dummy coms and run them active with some falsified credentials. I also think we should limit all wireless signals. Skinlink or fiber-optics where possible.>>

Cynic scowls. "What about the mojo? I don't care about this mundane stuff. Just hook me up and tell me what to do with that." He then looked over at Zion, his scowl changing to a cocky smirk, "and we better not let Zion take grenades this time."

"Well, it has been awhile. But I've got a friend or two in Knight Errant. Tacoma used to be my beat, and I've traded stories with these new guys. Seems they still follow the same routes we patrolled. I think they might have just taken our operating manual, something about lowering admin costs. Corps change, but Tacoma stays the same.
...
I remember a mention of "access to the kitchens for final delivery" with our delivery docks access code. I'm not so sure what that means for us or our plans."

< [Aeryn] I got skinlink, so that shouldn't be a problem. Got to go with the laser sight then instead of smartlink, but hopefully that won't be needed, anyways. Means no drones, though. Good idea with the disposable coms. >

"As for the access, well, it's how we get inside. How er can proceed from there it is a bit more vague, I'm afraid."

Lucky's fingers continued scratching through his beard, a puzzled expression on his face replacing the smile.

"Why can't we use smartlink? If it's skinlinked, I think that's ok? Does this have anything to do with 'TI'?" He looks at Papa for confirmation.

Papa nods as Lucky described his contacts. "You should reach out and verify those routes so we're working with the most up to date data, if you friend is loyal enough... or dirty enough, for the question not to raise any hard questions."

Papa then answers the TI question, but switches to his com rather than spoken.
<<@Team [Papa] A TI is pretty much a sensor grid. Part of a security measure for detecting nodes that shouldn't be there... Like a delivery man wired with way too much stuff for a deliveryman. Problem is that it can be hidden in a wall; Good thing is they aren't cheap so they won't be everywhere. The purchase req I located was 45 days old, meaning you just might notice the new construction if the rest of the building has not been renovated recently.>>

After Aeryn's comment, he adds:
<<@Team [Papa] Well, we are down to 14 hours. The Chosen will have the truck at midnight in the area, I received confirmation of that a little earlier. I will pick up the disposable comlinks after we break from here and start programming. I'm gonna need to outsource the IDs on each of them. Figure at least 600¥ for the bundle. So here is what I know so far: Somewhere we intercept the truck and driver. We give the driver a nap. We offload most of the goods from the truck to the second truck and the Chosen deliver it. We continue with the truck to the site and use the passcodes for entry. Somehow we nab the guy and his com and exit the site quietly.>>

As the troll takes a drink of water, Cynic pipes in. "That's a pretty shitty plan."

<<@Team [Papa] I was inferring that it could use some details. Lucky is working on the intercept point for the van. Do we just ziptie the driver and keep him in the back of the van? Lucky is working on uniforms and I will keep the van from being detected as stolen. Who will drive the van? Who will enter the site to deliver the goods? How do we explain a large crew for a simple delivery? Beyond lowering our digital signature and dummy coms, any other precautions at the site?>>

< [Aeryn] I'm probably best-suited to drive the van. I would prefer the former driver not to be with us, could be problematic. Our biggest problem, right now, is, of course, that we have no idea where we are going to look inside the facility and lack of intel from inside. There will be a lot of improvising to be done. <<@Team [Cynic] I gave the site a fly-by, astrally, last night. Watchers were on patrol, so I couldn't get too close. No spirits, so null sheen there. Usually with watchers, they will ignore the meat world: Too easily confused. Best not to go in with any active spells though>>

<<@Team [Papa] Sounds like four of us going in physical then, if 3B keeps the driver under control. I'm kinda blind to the inside of the facility, I have a line on someone who can get us floor plans. They are asking 1,000¥ and the plans are six months old, but it sounds reasonable enough. Should I pay the man? As to video, we should plan on disguises. I can't guarantee I can hack that. I'll try once I'm in. Staff level is a complete unknown. With it being Sunday night, I expect this is the lowest staff level of the week.. I know that doesn't really say much. "Yeah...yeah...I was hoping not to involve my friend in KE. The less he knows, the less he can tell others. I'll try to find a way to ask without being too direct about it.

About the van, we need to burn it, lose it, leave no trace. I know what can be done to trace a target, and we don't want to give them any chance to find something in the van.

I think we need to know more about the inside of this place, even if the plans are a little old. Papa, I'd say it's worth it.

We're going to have to be good at bluffing once inside...hope someone here is good at that."

Lucky remained quiet, hoping the others didn't ask anything more of him. Truth to tell, he was a little nervous, but it was sort of a good nervous. That feeling in the pit of your stomach, that something big is going to happen, and happen SOON. Like that night he rode out to the docks with Danny because of that mysterious call. It had been a dark, foreboding night with storm clouds hanging heavy in the sky, blotting out even the little bit of moonlight that sometimes filtered through. They were both a little nervous, a little jumpy. Chief hadn't given them many details, just said the call had been something about the Kenran-k...

Shaking his head to clear his jumbled thoughts, Lucky tried once again to concentrate on the conversation.

The basic framework of a plan worked out, the team eats most of the rest of their meal is relative silence. Papa is the first to rise, offering Lucky a ride. Outside, the former-cop sees the troll straddle a Honda Viking II, full dress Motorcycle. The troll-size ride seems almost larger than the old Jackrabbit parked beside it. The bike rumbles as it starts and as they pull out onto the street he accelerates rapidly and keeps up the speed as they pass through less friendly neighborhoods. The duo make a pit stop by WICANS before depositing Lucky at this doss. The sight of a troll and a one armed human with a dog in his lap must has been a sight enough to give anyone pause because their luck held out and they arrived un-accosted, despite having past no less than three different groups of gangers.

Cynic and Aeryn rode north together up Meridian Ave out of the barrens and towards more civilized parts. The mage on his dirt bike and her on her Mirage. The duo ride past a small group of gangers standing around with baseball bats who take note, but otherwise leave them unaccosted. The remaining distance till they part at 112th is equally uneventful. Separating, Aeryn arrives home safetly, her drones reporting all clear.
