BishopMcQ
There is a garage full of vehicles, condition unknown, behind a maglock if you need one.
HeySparky
Don't our freeze foam guys have the solvent...?
Ecclesiastes
Bishop does, be he ran off with Tigger. nyahnyah.gif
Johnson
I would have liked the car option but I am not the B&E type... I was hoping some one would come and open the garage.
Bastard
Are there any dead or unconcious guards around? They may have the key.

Perception 6
[ Spoiler ]
BishopMcQ
Bastard--It doesn't take much looking to see all the dead guards laying around the downstairs. Outside, all the guards are encased in freezefoam.
Bastard
Who is in the house with me...just Graves?

Graves you wanna steal a car with me?
Ecclesiastes
Who has the head? I thought it was JT, but wanted to make sure. Whoever has it, that is who Bishop is with.
Bastard
I thought we put the head and the body in the shower curtain, then wrapped that up in a blanket. The last I knew, Graves and JT carried that downstairs to put it in a car...then everyone took off, leaving me (and tutori I presume) there, alone in the chateaux, holding our nuts....er the body.

[edit]oh...and Bishop too then

McQ- If possible to grab keys (aka maglock cards) to the garage and a vehicle quickly, before the authorities arrive, then that is what I want to do. If know one else is coming with...then I guess then we are alone.
Johnson
Would you think its wise to boost a vehicle even with the possibility of a tracking device. It just make location triangulation very easy to the nearest metre or so. Unless some one can remove the device from the vehicle.

Which way are you running Tigger, towards the road or way from the main road?
Buddha72
I was shooting for running parallel to the main road out here but a good distance out from it.
BishopMcQ
Alright team, I've pushed you forward to the security forces arriving. Are you doing anything specific or should I push further forward in the drive?

Also, has the team decided to leave the concept of legitimate, upstanding, bounty hunters by the wayside and become Shadowrunners and criminals? I ask so I know how and where to direct the game in the future.
Bastard
I wouldnt say shadowrunners...but it is important that we get back to Seattle with some anwers...millions of lives are at stake.
HeySparky
Edana would not willingly become a shadowrunner. But events may force her to make hard, irrevocable decisions that would push her down that path. But, no, I would prefer we didn't. That is one of the cool things about this game, imo.
Ecclesiastes
Does our ride have any sensors? If so, then Bishop will plug in and scan for anything trailing them or incoming.
HeySparky
Hey folks - popping in to say that I'm out the 17th-23rd.

Herne will keep an eye on everyone and keep folks informed of the others' locations - security forces included. He will keep his distance from Edana so he doesn't tip his hand. They may or may not find out about him, if he thinks they're onto him he'll start feeding them false locations for the fleeing team members - he'll do this by running and materializing and moving at vehicle speeds in a few likely directions. One or two of which may or may not be the team's actual locations and headings.

Edana, I don't know what she'll do, depends on the manner of her waking.

McQ - PM or message me if you have any questions.
BishopMcQ
Don't have Rigger 3 with me...you've got the equivalent of a Brumby with handling 4/4.
Ecclesiastes
Ok, I don't think that those come with a Sensors package by default. I'll have to reply on eyes and ears.
Johnson
Preception for weapons arrays and platforms on the Heli

8, 5, 4, 2
BishopMcQ
Johnson--There is a large gun mounted under the nose of the helicopter...Probably an HMG or autocannon. Roll Heavy weapons to identify it specifically.
Johnson
Default to Int +4 SMG is the next best for a +2

eek.gif mmm I should reinstall my machine more often
Bastard
I thought Tiny ran out with Tigger

I thought it was only JT, Bishop and Graves in the SUV
BishopMcQ
QUOTE
Tiny jogs out of the woods and climbs into the back seat of the Range Rover. With JT at the helm, the black SUV designed to be equally flexible on the road as off, begins the descent down the mountain.

He ran, then joined up with the team...Tigger is still on his own.

Bastard--It's up to you whether the SUV stops since you're the one driving.
Bastard
I guess its time to park the car into a bunch of trees. Is it just the one helo, cause if I would have known it was coming...

I think I may stay behind...what say you team?

[Edit]Perception test, to find a place to stop the SUV, giving the team time for escape.

Perception 6 (Edges: Perceptive - 1 TN)
[ Spoiler ]
toturi
Graves is staying behind.
Johnson
I tend to go with the plan as things are starting to look very bad... Let see what they have to offer. The nuyen offered is not going to be worth it...
Ecclesiastes
Stealth: 09 05 04 02 (+10 against visual perception, +11 against Sensors)
Bastard
Graves and JT are staying behind...JT is turning himself in, well going to talk with them at least. Where that leads I dont know. Maybe it will give the rest of you time to escape back to Seattle.
toturi
Gaves would have stayed behind with Ed because somehow I thought that Ed was coming with the rest of us. Nevermind now.

He goes by the rule of "Do what must be done. Nobody gets left behind."
HeySparky
Well, technically, Eddie's not left behind - the OOC plan (that has IC benefits) is that she's something of a spy - through Herne. He can keep you posted on her condition and whereabouts. Also - keep in mind that because of the medical attention she's going to need 'leaving her behind' is something of a necessary evil.

If we survive this and end up back in Seattle (and can stand to look at eachother wink.gif ) I suggest we do some tactics training or something, maybe 2065's version of corporate-team-building bootcamp.

smile.gif
Bastard
where we all sit cross legged in a circle on green carpet?

So toturi, whats the plan.
Johnson
Are we all going to wait for the Heli to land or what?
Ecclesiastes
Who currently has the head?
BishopMcQ
Ecc--The head is rolling around in the back of the SUV with the body.

Team--Let's get a few posts, I've seen OOC comments about what you are going to do. Give me something IC or I'll just push people along.
toturi
Do the people in the SUV get a description of the insignia worn by this new batch of pursuers?

Can Graves make a Intelligence test on the insignia?
Johnson
I have the head I grabbed it before leaving the SUV.
BishopMcQ
Toturi--Anyone who actively makes a perception check at the people in the helicopter can get the insignia. It's a derivative symbol of the Republique Francaise, the French Gov't. Probably a nationalized security force. Bkgd: Security Companies can yield additional info.
toturi
Raw Intelligence on Background Sec Companies: 2 1 1 7 5 9
BishopMcQ
Toturi--Sorry if I was unclear, but the info I gave you is what can be done without any actual training in the skill. You will need the skill to get anything else.

SUV Team--What is your goal here? Bastard is giving up to let the rest of the team run, Bishop is covering a retreat, but Johnson and Toturi haven't posted to actually tell me what they are doing. Are you turning yourselves over to the authorities and working with the legal system in place or are you attepmting to flee the scene and the country?

If you are fleeing, please post your signatures. Baseline Human is a 6, Troll is 5. Ruthenium and armor modifications will raise that, certain bioware and heavy cyberware will lower that.

Buddha--What is Tigger's goal here? How far is he going to run before coming back into civilization? Do you plan on meeting back up with any fleeing members of the team?

As a more general question, what does the team hope to get out of bringing Ballefour's head back to Seattle?
Ecclesiastes
I've got a base signature of 6.

-1 for low essence (0.02 left)
+5 for Rutheniums (half the rating)
+6 for Thermal Dampening

Total Signature = 16 smile.gif
Ecclesiastes
As far as things with the head go, the hope is that he had headware memory that has his notes for the cure stored in it.
Buddha72
Tigger is going to keep running to the town at the bottom of the mountain (so I think 50-60 miles) and then make a decision from there.
BishopMcQ
Cure?
HeySparky
Vaccine.
BishopMcQ
The vaccine was being issued for a minimal charge (5:nuyen:) back in Seattle already. Remember, Tiny (Johnson) tried to steal some of it.
Bastard
See McQ-Im not the only one! Thats what I thought too, otherwise I wouldnt have jetted with the body.
BishopMcQ
I'll post a recap over the weekend just to make sure that everyone is on the same page.
BishopMcQ
Below are the highlights from before you got into France.

The Job:
"Well, I'd think a team of seven to ten should be more than enough. Basically just a virologist with some underworld connections who skipped bail. I can send you the whole file if you're interested. Listen, I've been sitting on this for about half an hour, I need to know if you are in or if I should call another headhunter."

"He needs to be standing in court on January 20th to get the check."

The Mark:
Here.
Your pocket-secretary chimes with an incoming file. Tak has done his work as usual, there's a complete CV on the mark, as well as, a last known address. Looks like Lucien Ballefour was researching a vaccine for VITAS-II and decided to start human testing earlier than approved by government regulation. His methods were highly unorthodox, but he swears that he has a vaccine if not a cure.

Lacking any major funding, Ballefour Pharmaceuticals falls in the high C range of corporations, climbig towards a B with their recent white papers released on advances in mapping the pharmaceutical impacts of SURGE on metahumanity. With holdings in the UCAS and Europe, Ballefour seems poised to make a jump up the corporate ladder, officially requesting permission to be recognized by the Corporate Court for extra-territoriality. This is rumored to be a ploy to shield Lucien Ballefour from direct prosecution by hiding behind a many-layered blanket of paperwork. Pushing aside the coporate mumbo jumbo, you find houses leased to Luke Baiour in New Orleans and London as subsidiary lodging for Melchior Munitions.

Debian had done his work, it looks like Ballefour bought tickets for the suborbital flight that you found a link to, but he never boarded. Yesterday Ballefour went to the bank and withdrawn fifty large--half in certified cred, the other half in hard currency. Apparently a video feed from the bank security cameras shows Ballefour joking with the teller about going to New Vegas. In the past few weeks, Ballefour has been somewhat of a recluse avoiding the office. He told his secretary that he was working from home due to legal troubles.

At the Street Doc:
Air compressors and pressure regulators are stowed in a row of tubes and hosing. It looks like the system has been taken apart, but assembled it would be possible to refill SCUBA tanks.

You find a large box clearly labeled with several bio-hazard markers, beside the box is a rack of test tubes. They all seem filled with a viscous blue fluid. The vials are labeled Vaccine 3.7. ---"You may have a problem, that vaccine you gave me is a genetically modified strain of HMHVV. I'm not sure if it will actually make a person into a ghoul, but it seems a little too risky to actually try it on someone."

Helios notes some of the interfaces on the table for suction and transfusions look...off...unable to put a finger on what is wrong with them, he starts to trace the path down under the table. He rips off a panel and finds a micronized blood filtration system. It looks like it splices one of the suction lines through the filter where a small vial similar to that in the fridge is added to the mix and sent through a transfusion bag back into the patient.

You hear a clear hiss as the pressure release is activated and pressure is stabilized between the air you are breathing and the biohazardous contents of the box. Lifting the top clear, several small tubes are immediately obvious. They are clearly labeled with a bio-hazard symbol and the words "Level One Viral Agent: VITAS."Laying beside the viral solutions is a thin cylinder designed for holding compressed gas. It is roughly five centimeters in diameter and twenty five centimeters long.

At the House:
The library reveals two articles that seem to be heavily used, both are dealing with the VITAS plague. The first talks about an experiment examining a remote population in the South Pacific that a team of researchers stumbled across that seems to be highly resistant to VITAS. The second refers to recombinant experiments splicing the Krieger strain with a retrovirus to re-write sections of a rat's DNA with pieces of the virus. This process offers immunity in thirty percent of the females tested on. It is only seventeen percent effective on males.

From the Computer--Skimming through it on his way to Edana's it became clear that the doctor was ill. The early stages of research for the vaccine had been in traditional retroviral areas. Take the RNA strands of antibodies that the body creates as it fights off VITAS then splice them into Meta-Human DNA to create a natural antibody that lays dormant in the system until it comes under attack.

Ballefour references a pygmy tribe in the Pacific in his research, that is when his research methods changed. He looked into the Krieger strain of HMHVV and captured several feral specimens to begin experimenting with. One of them bit him and Ballefour contracted the disease. That is when his mind fully understood the vaccine. By using his own blood as a source of the virus, he began to tamper with it and test on patients who were coming in for his services as a street doc. Personal journal notes indicate a change in his own tastes and a need for metahuman feeding. He found a way to enable himself to eat without people noticing through his own sexual choices. The journal doesn't go into explicit detail.

Stumbling Blocks:
>>>News feeds are flooding every local station about terrorist activity striking Seattle. Reports are varied, but everyone is sure that during the middle of the morning commute, biological agents were released at the Central Train Station in Seattle. Passengers are being recommended to limit their contact with others as it is believed that they may have been exposed to the VITAS plague, a highly contagious airborne disease.

"Once again, Ballefour Pharmaceuticals is offering a VITAS vaccine to the Seattle public to combat the attack dealt this morning. Inside sources say there are only ten thousand vaccinations available but more batches are being produced over the next few days. Blood tests will be necessary to make sure that each recipient has not yet become infected."

>>>You arrive at Ballefour's house and see a Lonestar eye in the sky drone hovering nearby. That apparently is all they could spare with this morning's activities.

Down the street a motorcycle revs to life and a figure in a black and red racing suit pulls the visor down on his helmet before driving away.

>>>You haggle back and forth with the mafioso. Eventually a consensus is reached. The 20k will get dropped off at a local bakery for you to pick up with a dozen canollis, the money plus ten percent is due to him within 30 days.
HeySparky
QUOTE (McQuillan)
"...I need to know if you are in or if I should call another headhunter."

Oh, the irony!
Bastard
I thought the vaccine was something that Bellafour created and had the HMHVV strain inside for darker reasons...like soon all of Seattle will desire to eat my brains.
