Yet.
Except for all those guys we shot in the last couple of days.

And all those guys we're planning on shooting who are coming here.
And all those guys we're planning on shooting once we leave here.

Ronin, check the time stamp on your last entry please. Its posted before WinterRat1 and SR13's last posts. I'm not sure if that was your intention or not.
BC, also, please check me on the reality factor here. I know tht Erebus has Muscle Aug and is very strong but he's carrying a ton of stuff now and I'm wondering where I hit encumbrance rules. He's carrying his Gaurdian, his Predator, his Berretta and now his AK. He's also got all his armor a bunch of extra clips, and some electronics equipment. I'm just wondering about when I should start looking at encumbrance penalties or if I'm still okay.

Ok, you can:
-get rid of the AK and its ammo
-get rid of most of the clips (say, keep one extra for each of the guns).
-get rid of 2 of the pistols and their spare clips.
If you don't do any of these actions or something comparable, then you're going to have a -2 dice pool penality on any Reaction tests and Initiative. Not passes, but on the pool you roll.
Note: there aren't any real encumberance rules in SR4, but I don't want any Stay-Puft Marshmellow Men running around. Even the goons here aren't going to carry the kitchen sink to come kill you.

Okay, lets just have Erebus only carrying the one extra clip for each weapon. When I get back to the car I'm dumping some of these pistols cause this is getting ridiculous. I just kept adding guns IC until I'm a freaking walking arsenal.
I agree about the encumbrance rules, I don't care how super strong or agile a person is, the addition of each Predator (at 2.5 kilos or approx 6 pounds per gun) plus clips is an encumbrance. I'll dump some of this stuff, just as soon as I can get to it IC but for now instead of me posting having dumped all those extra clips can we just assume it? Or should I take the -2 roll until I can get it posted IC that I'm loosing some of the extra weaponry?

WinterRat1

In all honesty, it shouldn't be that bad. Remember, Doc did give us that wicked looking medical tool that can take the flesh right off of bone, which Dragon didn't use.
So while he might be bothered by the torture, there's no reasonable way he can claim ignorance of what was happening here.

1. Hey, we weren't really planning on letting this guy walk out of here alive, were we? We need to dispose of the body anyway, so this is a win-win scenario. Doc gets to make some extra money on the side for no real effort, we get to dispose of a body quickly and painlessly. Something for everyone.
2. I felt it prudent for Dragon to clarify, since his reputation for mercy probably isn't doing so hot right now.

He probably wouldn't even freak if we had just shot the guy, but he's a Bear shaman as well as having had some kind of medical training so he draws the line at torture. Just remind him that this fragger shot an anti-personnel rocket into a bar of dock workers about two hours ago and explain that if we turned him over to the Star he'd get a death sentence anyway.

Oh ya Bandit, btw, the voice of wedding experience here again, do NOT keep a bottle of Tequila in the groomsman's waiting area, very bad plan.
[ Spoiler ]
I'm not sure what you're relationship is with your in-laws or your folks but my wife pulled a PR tour de force during our wedding that I thought I'd drop on you. During our wedding there was a time planned for the "wedding song" which I've always thought of as a little dumb, but my wife planned that for a reason. She had made up a couple of little doo-dads, she cross-stitched a "picture" of our outlined faces etc. etc. blah-blah, and during the wedding song she and I trooped down to the first couple of rows and gave a gift to her parents and mine. We took a couple of seconds to say thank you I love you etc etc. and then trooped back to our places for the rest of the ceremony.
The little doo-dads worked like a charm. My in-laws kind of just tolerated me before that, sort of like they knew we were getting married and I wasn't a total leper but I always got the impression that they figured their daughter could do better. The little gift things had both sets of parents crying in the aisles, they're framed on in places of honor on the wall. I've been a saint ever since. Something like that during the wedding, a little surprise for the parents like that, does miracles for in-law relations. I can't take credit for the idea but I've certainly reaped the benefits.

All comm devices on the network have to have a common encryption code. The overall encryption rating for the network is equal to the lowest encryption running on the network. Thus if there are comm devices with a rating of 0 (no encryption) then the overall network must be set at 0.

Here is a summary of the rules on SR4 page 300:
QUOTE |
A character's carrying capacity is (STR x 10) kilograms without needing any test. A (STR + Body) test can be made to lift more with each success allowing for an extra kilograms.
For every 5 kilograms that a character exceeds his carrying capacity, a -1 dice pool modifier is applied to all physical actions. The absolute max that a character can ever carry is (STR x 20) kilograms. |

First off (particulary to Cedric and generally to everyone else) let me say that I'm quite happy with anyone checking the rules. Please, keep it up, 'cause it makes me both a better GM later on, makes everyone more used to the new rules set, and makes the goons you may or may not have to deal with later on more realistic and approporate to your characters. Every bit of help and guidence I can get is a boost.
I'll also apologize to Cedric that, because he spoke up, Erebus got dinged. I've made a note to double check loudouts and carried gear so that I can apply what I've ruled uniformly across everyone (goons possibly encountered included).
With that, let me explain my thought process on this:
The rules on page 300 were the ones I used, however no weight for any gear is listed in the book. The guidence mentioned was (I'm using the Version 1.3 of the PDF, but it's not changed from the print book that I've got, so everyone on SR4 should still be covered by this):
QUOTE |
As long as your players are reasonable about the carrying abilites of their characters, there is absolutely no need for the gamemaster to micromanage weights and encumberance (and if they aren't reasonable, feel free to penalize them appropriately).
|
This is the main guidence that I used when answering Cedric's question. Cedric brought up his character's loadout (again, to his credit). His current total loadout (armor, weapons and ammunition) did not seem to me to be reasonable with the SR4 guidelines and his character's attributes with respect to initiative and reaction.
Since the SR4 main book doesn't have weights listed for equipment, I'm having to use some judgement to in the ability to carry these things, and on Erebus for carrying (to me) an outsize portion of weapons and ammo, in addition to armor. Carrying something is one thing (and Erebus is certainly capable of it), but carrying and being mobile with the things that are being carried is a different thing.
Cedric Rolfsson
Jun 26 2006, 02:41 PM
See this is what happens when you start trying to be realistic.
No offense taken, I'm one of those players who wants my characters to act as real as possible, and I realized that I'd IC posted picking up so much crap that my guy would be stubbling around clanking and clattering while trying to remain upright. I'd reached my own ridiculous quota.
One of the questions I had, (which I believe BC answered) is do we have to post IC the mundane acts of putting down a bunch of stuff? I've never played by post and I get confused about how much stuff to post IC and how much we post OOC and how much the players and GM can just assume.
BC, can Erebus make out any other person's in the vehicles? He'll flip through IR and Low Light as needed to view the interiors.
