Jul 18 2006, 01:19 AM
Good question. Where are we going guys, any suggestions? At some point we'll probably want to pay this Yakuza guy a friendly visit, but let's start examining our options first.
Cedric Rolfsson
Jul 18 2006, 01:34 AM
Remember we were heading to Erebus's bolt hole at this point. We've also previously outlined our options and I don't think those have changed significantly.
We'll want to look into the guy that hired me and Tenmou, probably hitting the flowershop to get whatever records we can find relating to who placed the order.
Retreive Daed's van
Retreive Vinne's package
Figure out who is trying to kill us {check}
I think we may want to split up, I doubt I'd need more than two guys to break into the flowershop and steal his telecom.
I have no idea how we're going to be gathering info concerning where the van and Vinnie's package is located. I think I have a contact that can help but I'm not sure he's survived the SR4 conversion.
That's kind of where I'm at for now.

GM speech translated clearly:
Let's see how many ways we can find to kill you all in a painful yet fashionable manner.
WinterRat1
Jul 18 2006, 07:16 AM
See, people always misread Grendel. He doesn't want his players dead, he wants them to suffer.
Therefore we can be confident he won't kill us until we've suffered in an appropriately spectacular manner. Hence, we are safe for the time being. By 'safe' I mean, 'won't die now, but may suffer horribly'.

Be careful when editing your posts everyone. There seems to be some problem where random stuff gets lost if you edit a post and resubmit it. I recommend copying and pasting for a while from a saved document until the problem is fixed, especially if you write something long.

Jul 19 2006, 01:04 PM
Unless anyone has any objections (e.g. BC is planning on raining mortar shells down on us in the next few minutes) I can write up our regrouping at the car and subsequent departure with Dragon outlining the objectives and getting the team split up and moving along.
Thanks Cedric for the list of our objectives, saves me time looking it up! Any suggestions as to who should go with whom where?
Tiredronin
Jul 20 2006, 03:46 PM
So I am still kinda uncomfortable with splitting up as even a "simple" breakin at the flowershop can be horribly complicated (e.g. mortars). This is compounded by the fact that we only have one car at this time.
But we could just send a small team to case the Lonestar compound while the other team does the flowershop. what assets we have right now:
Dragon - fast, can shoot, can get shot
Erebus - faster, can shoot
Temnou - I forget (sorry!) but i assume he can shoot, and cut people.
Virgil - can't seem to cast spells, can do spirtual recon. can't shoot
Daedalus - 1 drone shoots, 1 drone spots, and carries an SMG. can't get shot

Jul 20 2006, 03:52 PM
To offer a bit more detail on Virgil's status (to the best of my knowledge). . .
He is able to cast spells, though with penalties that seem to be increasing with each casting. So when the drek hits the fan he will still throw a spell, but he is going to be highly conservative of his magic use in the meantime.
He can no longer astrally project, but his astral perception seem unaffected.
He has not yet tried to summon a spirt since the affliction started, but he still has command of his two bound watcher spirits. They can be used for some useful recon, both for magical threats, and to get into places that a drone cannot get to.
Virgil is not useless yet, but I wish that we'd be able to find someone with some answers before this gets any worse.

You've got Erebus down pat,
He is greased lightning, shoots and is pretty good in hand-to-hand but he'd better put the bad guy down first cause he ain't exactly a tank.
I'd suggest that we adjourn to my bolt hole first, and then we send a muscle man and someone with some tech savy to do the B&E.
I'd suggest we send Daed to case the Lone Star impound place, provided we know where the vehicle is at, since he could do that with a drone. I may have a contact who could help us out with that info in exchange for info, assuming he's going to survive the conversion.
I have no idea what to do about the Itchie-Gummy guy at this point. I think we need a freaking decker to do some data searches and run down more info before we can proceed against either him or Vinnie.
I think we need to put the feelers out to our contacts and find out what is going on with the opening moves of what feels like a war between the Yaks and the Mafs. Does anyone have any contacts that might be able to help "cure" Virgil? Do we even know what's wrong?
banditf50
Jul 20 2006, 06:34 PM
I know that at least on the end of D&D V3, many of our contacts are already tapped out due to the escapades of the previous few days in-game. For example, Virgil's friends at the clinic in Puyallup would be his best assest at learning more about his condition (seeing as they are both very skilled magical healers), however the clinic is busy handling the influx in patients that the 'mysterious disease' (not the one affecting Virgil) has created.
The best that I have found out so far is that the condition affecting Virgil is magical in nature, and appears to be progressivley degenerative as he contines to draw upon more magic.

Jul 20 2006, 06:48 PM
It seems we all agree we should regroup at Erebus's safehouse in-game while figuring out our next move and examining some of the options available to us.
Since it's your character's safehouse Cedric, do you want to write up our departure from Doc's, arrival at Erebus's safehouse, and open the team meeting?
Cedric Rolfsson
Jul 21 2006, 01:14 AM
Ya, we'll play out the scene and I'll post the arrival at the bolt hole. Its an abandoned industrial park, which according to the novel 2XS are quite common in the Redmond Barrens area of I think Kingsgate. I'll check. I'll post tomorrow

It's really BC's call since he is the Run GM here, but I believe we're all at least functionally approved by our respective GMs for SR 4 readiness. So I would suggest going with that version, but as I said, BC you are the one with the final call.
Cedric Rolfsson
Jul 26 2006, 06:23 PM
If that's what we're working off of then let me know which contacts survived the changover, I had about an exta 45K or 9 bp which I hadn't spent because of the contact conversion.

If everyone's approved for it I've got no problem with this running as SR4. I'd like everyone to be on the same page, but I can adjust if necessary.
WR1, bandit, 'ronin: are you approved for SR4?
EDIT: I'm
really going to have my character ask yours for a loan now, Cedric
WinterRat1
Jul 26 2006, 07:06 PM
I am 'functionally approved'. Basically I'm good to go for SR 4, except there are some minor changes that will be made (mostly to contacts and maybe to skills) because my character is the 'test character' that Grendel and I are using to evaluate our SR 4 Training Times and Policies. So Dragon has been in flux since as we change our training procedures, I experiment with the new systems on him.
He ends up in pretty much the same place, but occasionally, depending on the particular quirks of each new method we examine, he's ever so slightly different. Maybe a skill here or there is 1 point higher or lower, but nothing I'm likely to need in the near future. That answer your question sufficiently BC?
bclements
Jul 26 2006, 07:15 PM
OK, general ruling time:
If your character is 'functionally approved' (as in WR1's example), you are, for all intents and purposes, approved. I think I remeber Tenmou being fully approved, and with Erebus and Dragon being 'functionally approved', this seems to make sense to me.
As soon as you have a 'final' character, shoot he/she over to me. For the moment, I don't need the character (and, in fact, the only character sheet I've got is for Erebus), and we can rely on the honor system.
(Now, I can throw goons at you, 'cause running an SR3 combat along with an SR4 one would have been a bookkeeping nightmare)
WinterRat1
Jul 26 2006, 07:29 PM
Did I say 'functionally approved'???
Oh um...wait. What I
really meant was NO, not even close to being converted yet. Still a big time work in progress. Yeah, that's it. Haven't converted from SR 3 yet, but trust me, I'll get there eventually. One of these days. Sooner or later. You know how it goes.
Better hold off on those goons for a while BC. We've got SR 3 and SR 4 characters together still, and we wouldn't want you to have a bookkeeping nightmare on your hands, now would we guys?
Cedric Rolfsson
Jul 26 2006, 08:21 PM
Uuhhhh, I need to modify my character sheet for SR4. I looked at it when this dicussion started and I gave myself Electronic as a base skill rather than a skill group, must modify.
Bandit, I'll submit a revised sheet to you and I'll PM my SR4 sheet to BC as well and I'll try and polish it into final form.

Dragon has said his piece, and Erebus obviously agrees, so I'd say it's on Ronin, Bandit, or SR 13 to reply.

Aug 15 2006, 12:27 AM
BC, it looks like my detective contact will exist in the new version as well as the old so I'm calling him to see if we can exchange info for info or help getting the van back.
Bandit, BC, WinterRat1:
Question on spent karma and the conversion. I spent 4 karma on learning bike 2, but there is no such skill in SR4, just ground transport. What is my converted level of ground transport? Do I have it at 1 (4 karma spent for first level in new skill) or 2 (2 bike = 2 transport karma cost irrelevant)?
WinterRat1
Aug 16 2006, 05:39 AM
Cedric - Training conversion information is currently in process with Grendel and myself.
Assume you will have Ground Craft skill, but don't worry about the level for now. The mechanics are being worked out, so just make a note that it was trained up during play and as soon as we have the finalized training conversion rules, make the appropriate adjustments as needed.
WinterRat1
Aug 16 2006, 05:40 AM
FYI: I will be waiting on SR13, Bandit, and/or Ronin to at least say something before moving forward, since while it's obvious Erebus agrees with the plan and is already moving, Dragon will expect the others (or at least some of them) to respond as well.

Rules Question:
With a spell sustaining foci, can the magician to whom the foci is bonded voluntarily 'disrupt' the sustained spell at will? Page 191 doesn't talk about it and I can't find any references in Street Magic.
It says if a spell foci's spell is disrupted the magician can use the sustaining foci to sustain another spell. p. 191 SR4. Does 'deactivation' of the sustaining foci cause disruption? Can a magician use the Force 3 sustaining foci to sustain a physical barrier and then decided to dump the physical barrier and immediately cast and use the foci to sustain a detect enemies spell? Are their any tests involved or anything? Does a deactivated sustaining foci become blank, or upon activation does it immediately 'restore' the spell it was previously sustaining, because that would mean the character whose focus is snatched away from his person would have to recast the spell to get the benefit of the sustaining focus again.
I'm posting here to and elsewhere, sorry if this question doubles up, just looking for insight.
