Even if it's a really cool anime like Detonator Orgun or Ghost in the Shell? smile.gif
Shadow
I havent seen Det, but only 2/3rds of Ghost counts.

The number of cool anime can be counted on one hand imho (like Armitage or Ninja Scrolls). The rest of it sucks.
Cedric Rolfsson
I'm for everyone heading into the apartment building's underground garage. Erebus goes up to his apartment alone and everyone else get set to ambush the heck out of anyone following us. If we keep Tenmou, and Virgil inside the garage and Dragon assumes a position outside the garage, say near the front entrance of the apartments, it would give anyone following us two targets to hit and anyone following us into the garage would be caught in a crossfire with Dragon to cut off any retreat or reinforcements. Erebus can haul ass up to his apartment and he's bringing back his assault rifle. smile.gif

Dragon can always flee into the apartment building and down one flight of stairs to the garage if things get too hot for him, anyone coming into the garage after Virgil and Tenmou will have to spot them in the dark interior and then, assuming they split up, would be able to only fire on one of them.

The other option is I send Tenmou or Virgil up to my apartment to grab my stuff and bring it back while I wait in the garage as part of the ambushing force.
Tiredronin
I share shadow's sentiments about anime, blech... (but the good ones are pretty good).

Daedalus' mind should be floating around somewhere above the buildings flanking our car in Talos so it should be pretty simple to float out and spot the car, see if there are any other cars.

Shadow, can i get any decent camera angles on the car's interior? (specifically looking for weapons).

I could also just hover above our car and shoot out the trailing car's windshield and the driver.

re: entering the garage, I don't like the thought of giving away the hideout, but it doesn't seem likely that we can dissassociate Erebus's bike from the car. So the ambush idea sounds good to me.

We can use Talos to at least derail this car, and set up the ambush for any reinforcements.

and we CAN have 3 targets in the garage.. Daedalus still has his SMG...
Tiredronin
as stated IC though, we may want to stall just a bit in case we are coming up to the apartment soon. We need to figure out if this is a bogey or just some random person (devil rat).

Worse case scenario: its a bogey and we pull into the garage, he calls in reinforcements and we're stuck with them controlling the only way out. (in which case, we have no choice but to make a stand).

BTW, I had Icarus flying as well, but the blimp actually has a speed rating of 75. Would this be fast enough to keep shadowing the car from high altitude? Want to know exactly how many factors we can bring to bear.

dang I wish I had those other drones... ::sigh::..
Shadow
75 is more than enough to shadow the car.

Its a bike btw thats behind you guys, not a car.
Tiredronin
ah, i had thought it was a car with one headlight missing.

hrm a single braided 16 year old monk is following us on a motorcycle. unarmed....

i don't even know what to begin thinking.

btw, the drone's name is Talos. : P it is kinda confusing, all these names with the "s" at the end... anyone know how to properly grammatically put it into a possessive? (Talos' vs Talos's)
Sedna
Sorry about the delay, but at least you're now clear of the phone call, bandit. I now return you to Shadow's regular programming.

ronin: Both have become correct through usage, but more generally acceptable is Talos'.
WinterRat1
You know Shadow, this better not be a Shadowrun adaptation of Bulletproof Monk. If this kid turns out to be Sean William Scott, you better believe I'm going to have to start viewing this campaign less as John Woo, and more as anime (cause let's face it, Bulletproof Monk didn't REALLY have Chow Yun Fat in it). biggrin.gif

And team- We seem to be evenly split here, any other alternatives or should we just go with majority rules?
Cedric Rolfsson
I wanted to be sure we are all on the same page here, if we pull into the underground garage of the apartment building I don't think we'll be giving away our hideout, there are just too many people living in this building for anyone to realistically search every occupant to determine which unit we'd be occupying.

Besides, we seem utterly unable to hide anyway, I'm beginning to think less in terms of "hideouts" and more "fortress"

Hate Sean William Scott so much!

I was real disapointed with BPM. Chow is the man. And no, no anime.
WinterRat1
Shadow- I have to ask, have you seen any of the ‘God of Gamblers’ series? The first one (God of Gamblers) is definitely one of Chow’s greatest movies ever!

Cedric- No joke on the fortress thing. Been thinking the same thing myself, since hiding and staying out of sight seems almost impossible. Might have to just assume we’re going to get jumped every time we turn around. Course, that’s probably not a very hard assumption to make…

Hey all:

Sorry for my lack of participation since Friday. I am currently finishing my application for the NSF predoctoral fellowship awards and am spending every waking moment revising my proposal. The applications for my general field are due by the end of the day tomorrow so I will be back with you guys then. I know that you will all understand and I appreciate that greatly.

-bandit
WinterRat1
Uh, who/what are we waiting on here anyway? If it's a decision about whether or not to go into Erebus's apartment, I say we just go with majority rules, since we're pretty split it seems.

Ronin, Erebus, and I all wanted to into the garage and set up an ambush, so let's do it.

Shadow, are you writing us going into the garage and getting set or is one of us writing it?

And this should be a note to selves, we need some sort of chain of command here. At least among D&D V3, we should know which of us is calling the shots.

Also, Dragon would've given Tenmou a frequency to contact them on, so now everyone should be able to communicate via radio.
Cedric Rolfsson
Everyone except Erebus who has no comm package, since he was trying to save on essence loss. frown.gif

I agree we'll need to establish a working chain of command among the entire team at some point, but we haven't had a chance to sit down and talk for ten seconds without being shot at. For now, lets head for the garage, I'll run, not walk, upstairs and grab my gear, and go from there. And I'm buying a microtransciever with throat mic at the first opportunity.
Shadow
I was waiting for you guys to write your entrance.

Aside: I havent seen any of the above mentioned work frown.gif
Cedric Rolfsson
WinterRat1, go ahead and write the entrance to the underground garage
WinterRat1
All right, it'll be up later this afternoon. I have real work to do today as well, unfortunately. wink.gif
WinterRat1
Entrance is written, sorry about the delay, I had more going on last night than I thought I would. I wrote up to the entrance, with Erebus going upstairs and the rest of us getting into our positions, expecting the worst. Let me know if I overstepped my boundaries Shadow, or any of the rest of you with your PCs. I tried to incorporate as many of the ideas we had as possible into a reasonable plan:

Daedalus for recon and keeping the street clear, Dragon and Tenmou for security in the garage in case they’re waiting for Erebus or we have to pull back, but also close enough to get away quickly if needed. And as stated, since Virgil can’t do magic and we don’t plan on talking while they’re shooting missiles at us, he’s driving.

Shadow, will you be posting next or are you still waiting on us for anything?
Shadow
I will post next and you guys can react to that....
WinterRat1
"All right we waste him. No offense."

-Corporal Hicks, from Aliens

Does this guy scream 'physad!!!!!' to anyone else? Is anyone else expecting him to have like 500 pistols in that robe, run up walls upside-down and backwards while managing to shoot at Tenmou and Dragon 30 times each without ever reloading, all with unerring accuracy?

OK I admit Dragon was pretty heartless for wanting to unnecessarily waste the sick kid outside of Virgil's apartment. Paranoia was running high and it was an extremely unnecessary reaction.

However, I'd have to say right about now, I'm not feeling too guilty about possibly shooting first and asking questions later. First though, I would point out that since they were outside, it's entirely feasible that Virgil was able to get an astral scan (via astral perception) before this guy got into the garage. That information would be really helpful right about now. Shadow, your ruling?

And if we can't get any reading on this guy, I for one think he should keep his hands completely clear and visible, while Tenmou and Dragon have their weapons directly leveled at him (We're not even trying to be friendly. Mean us no harm my butt).

He tells us whatever it is he's gonna tell us as soon as Erebus gets back, if he's got a 'present' of any kind, he puts it on the ground real darn slow and opens it himself. I am holding action and ready to light this guy up like a Christmas tree dowsed with gasoline and then lit with a gallon of napalm.

More ideas. Tenmou and Dragon need to spread out so he CANNOT see both of us at once.

Also, from previous knowledge, Ronin, Bandit, we've putzed around on code words (or to be more accurate, not having them) for too long. We need a protocol, and we need it now. How about something like, 'black' or something, a one word phrase which translates into 'magical threat, Virgil get over here and waste his hoop right fragging now'. Or maybe a color and number, to indicate the type of threat (or maybe who'd be best suited to deal with the threat) as well as a number to indicate the priority level. Thoughts? And sound off quickly, because we just might need it really soon.

Everyone- Plans, thoughts, how to handle this guy? I trust this guy about as much as I trust an guy wearing a jacket that says 'Tamanous' not to try to sell my organs the moment my back's turned. Paranoid? Maybe. But unjustifiably warranted when dealing with our self-proclaimed 'John Woo GM.'

(Don't worry Shadow, I love you man, but I am from the culture that invented the John Woo genre, after all. I know how this stuff works. wink.gif )

EDIT: EVERYONE WATCH OUT FOR THE ARMY OF MOOKS THAT COULD COME SPILLING OUT OF ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE, NO MATTER HOW LITTLE SENSE IT MAKES!!!

DOUBLE EDIT: Don't forget, they're not normal goons. Some of them can take 400 shots before falling over.

Ronin and Bandit, you've seen some of the 'old school' stuff like Better Tomorrow and God of Gamblers, you know what I'm talking about. wobble.gif

TRIPLE EDIT: And last possibility, this guy could be a Triad, and maybe, maybe he's really on our side. I'm not betting on that one though.
WinterRat1
How's that for a reaction Shadow? biggrin.gif

And no, I didn't do any of that yet. I'm just thinking about it. Really quickly. wink.gif
Shadow
MUWAHAHAHA!!!!

*ahem*

I am fine with Virgil getting in a astral perception.

*Edit*

thanks for the cool ideas Rat grinbig.gif
Cedric Rolfsson
Instead of just smoking the guy why don't we tie him up in the trunk with the other prisoner.

Also, how did he know about the flower-buyer thing? I think we let him talk at Tenmou, no offense SR13 but I figure with a street name like Tenmou you've got the whole shinto-kanji-monk thing pretty well dialed in. You were present when we got jumped by that triad gang at the flower place, etc. While those two are talking Bandit and Ronin cover him, while Dragon moves around to a spot behind him and between him and the exit.

I TOTALLY agree with the battle-speak code word thingie. I like the use of a word to indicate proposed action (we'll come up with a short list of Army like words i.e. "Tango 8" to indicate the proposed action and the member involved with doing the action.) It makes sense to me, instead of yelling out things like "watch the guy on the flank" etc.

I think that's the most poetic thing I've heard all day. Well said! grinbig.gif

*plunks down with a bucket of double-buttered popcorn, a case of coke, and a box of junior mints to watch the action*
Tiredronin
augh...

can I order Talos to start aiming at the back of this guy's head? a few rounds of that should give him a good chance of at least wounding him....

as for words:

it seems like we'll need commands and descriptions:

rain - suppressing fire (this was from the paintball days) - "i need rain accross that ramp into the parking garage" - yeah we need some sort of fixed orientation system - should we make it relative to the speaker? ("targets are at 12 and 3 o clock") or to the listener ("Dragon, bogey on your 6") or perhaps we just specify.

Black - magical threat
how about we use a yellow-orange-red spectrum to assess relative threat level/priority targets (magic is still black and almost always top priority)
i.e. goon guy with an SMG= yellow
huge hulking street sam-that-dragon-had-to-shoot-several-times-in-the-head-to-take-down = red
or blimp-of-doom = red
orange can be something in between... ...

maybe this is getting cumbersome... just voicing my thoughts.

Ok, here is Virgil's astral perception roll at least. I'll add any additional needed posts later today.

perception: 10 08 05 05 03 02
aura reading: 15 05 03 02

I might have one success in there overall, perhaps enough to say if this guy is awakened or not. With a roll like that Virgil isn't likely to gather any additional information.
Shadow

Shadowrunner13
I am willing to take point as (if nothing else) a distraction and find out what our somatic friend wants.

I'm even willing to go out "unarmed" (perhaps with Tenmou's Wakazashi strapped to himself somewhere), but you guys will definitely need to cover my back...nursing my wounds puts me at a severe disadvantage if this gets violent. smile.gif

Do we go ahead and try to disarm another bad situation through dialogue?

SR13
banditf50
Ok guys, here is what I think:

Tenmou should humor this guy and speak with him, preferably without obvious weaponry. Dragon can cover him visably as a warning. At the same time Talos will cover the monk from the sky in relative stealth. Virgil will toss all the spell defense dice that he can onto Tenmou and Dragon, though I bet this guy is a physad and not likely to throw a powerbolt.

He might have legitamate intel for us, and I think this plan leaves us covered pretty well.
WinterRat1
Works for me. Go for it SR13. Write me as moving to cover this guy while you talk to him

Sorry about the premature IC post folks, I'll correct it once this stuff is done.
WinterRat1
Given the latest IC post Shadow put up, I'm definitely leaning towards the 'shoot first, kill 'em all, and let God sort it out later' school of thought.
Shadow
Still waiting on SR13 to be brave and bold.

I was almost hoping you would blow him away Winter, that way the missile launching could continue!

I know its a funny thing, but honestly, I came up with that little scene outside the bar before I ever read or heard about the Blimp of doom. The blimp was far more creative than my idea though. I had been itching to shoot someone with a missile launcher smile.gif
WinterRat1
Hey, I may be ridiculously paranoid right now, but I’m not stupid. I’ll save my bullets (and grenades, and melee attacks, and other assorted nasty items) for those who deserve it.

And as for this…

I hope all of you people are having a nice pleasant chat down there, just wait a few minutes and I'm sure someone will be by to serve tea and biscuits!!

Initiative roll:

02, 03, 04, 06, 06, + 9 Reaction = 30 biggrin.gif

Oh, he is sooo dead, he's really dead, he's really really dead!

Thank oh most generous GM for that positioning, I've been wanting to do something Woo-ish for awhile now. I thought about shooting him in the head but I'm going for an unarmed attack with the deliberate intentions of kicking his ass right through the window behind him. lick.gif This ought to be fun.

Unarmed 5 +1 enhanced art. + 4 combat pool:

Grendel, that was where you were supposed to remind me that I'm in on the conspiracy, and I need to shut up before I let everyone else in on it. wink.gif
Shadow
Its a conspiracy within a conspiracy! Post coming soon.
Cedric Rolfsson
Ohhhh JOY!!!

Thank oh benevolent GM for allowing me to do that! Yes, I know that such an action is likely to attract attention, I know I'm going to have to replace that window, and I know that I've lost the opportunity to question the prisoner but that FREAKING ROCKED!!!!!!

Okay, I'm better now.

Am I free to have Erebus grab his stuff now or do I have any other cybered ninjas in hiding?
Shadow
No other cyber Ninjas hiding... that you see.
WinterRat1
What is with the people in this game? Does everyone hate cars or something? It seems like every other page someone's car is getting wrecked (thankfully, not ours this time). Just had to ask. biggrin.gif

And Shadow, you forgot the long, "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" *splat*

Or were you saving that for a more dramatic 'kicking bad guy through window' moment? smile.gif
Shadow
Well if you look closely he was dead before he went thgouh the window. A spectacular failure to get even one success on his Unarmed combat roll.
Cedric Rolfsson
But I get serious cool points for kicking a guy through a third floor window onto the one car in this crappy neighborhood with a working car alarm. smile.gif

You should have been drawn and ready to pop an whole clip into the guy on the way down. Just to make sure wink.gif
Tiredronin
wow.. today was one of those posting days eh?

: P good grief, stay away from your computer a few hours and cyber ninjas get kicked through windows, conspiracies within conspiracies get revealed (or at least talked about)... : P

Nicly done Cedric, though apparently it was a 5 story drop, which means you should have had the time to draw and fire... more "John Woo" points : P
Tiredronin
Hey let me know if its ok that Icarus saw Erebus I can edit the post.

Otherwise, Talos is still aiming at the monk, (can drones aim with the same effect?) otherwise.. sensor lock. though I suppose the point will be moot soon, useful exercise in sensor enhanced gunnery

Sensor test: (complex action)

sensors rating 5
TN: signature (6 for human sized life form)
direct LOS: -2
urban setting: +1

TN 5 - unless im missing any terrain modifiers:

11, 11, 07, 05, 03

only one success needed for sensor lock.

and Daedalus is in icarus, ready to give Talos the order to fire (gave the order to Talos to sensor lock then fire but hold action the actual shot till Daedalus gives the word - free action. GMs, does this work assuming enough time had passed for 2 complex actions?)

And daedalus is freed up to watch the streets, especially now that we seem to have made another big commotion...
Shadowrunner13
In my latest post, the Japanese (keep in mind, I am using a translator program and don't actually speak the language...just trying to be as authentic in character as possible... smile.gif ) translates to:

Arigatau = Thank You
Zenkou-san = respectifully addressing a "straight A student"

SR13
Shadow
I goth the Arigato, wondered what the Zen was. Cool. I like the authenticity.

You were fine with your drones Tired. Never fear, I'll let you know if you step out a line. *waves his big 2x4*
