Not even under the alternate More Metahumans rule where the the least common standard metahumans are priority 3?

I don't know if this has been covered yet or not but one of the flaws I've seen with the program was with the contacts. If you go ahead and duplicate one of your free contacts and then delete the original, the copy still costs you $5,000
. I understand the premise for this (to prevent getting free contacts) but perhaps there's some way for the program to recognize when you haven't been allotted your free contacts? A minor point but still thought I'd let you know about it. Also, will there be a way to add more free contacts for the next installment (my GM likes to give us one free Fixer for example). Keep up the great work!

Something strange I just noticed. Using version 3.66, so this might have been fixed already, but made a character with dermal sheathing 3, non-reuthenium, and it listed the armor as Cyber:Bone Lace when I finalized and printed. The character does not have bone lacing of any type.

It'll do this for adept power: mystic armor, too.

You should be able to add any and all the Contacts you want (at any level) after chargen (and finalizing). There is no charge, but IIRC the additions are listed in the GM output.

This may have been addressed already but when I make a character I can raise his stats beyond the point limit. In other words if I have 20 points for stats I can go above that. Once I do, even if I go back, the stats are set to the new level.
This happened on winxp with the latest version downloaded.

This is correct behaviour. You'll notice it's taking from your skills points. This was a request from another user who thought this would work better. Prior to this, I had it stop you. If you want it to work differently, let me know.

This is correct. Unfortunately, I have to track the changes to armor due to cyberware mods. I thought that bone lacing was a good category as it cannot be removed, it adds to your other armor (unlike some), and it was the only category I had. Where would you put it? Or perhaps a re-labeling from "Bone Lacing" to "Cyberware Mods" ?

Hey mcmackie... terrific work. Unbelievable really. Thanks!
I have a question about generating meta-variant characters. It seems like you can only select the meta-variants if you build your character with the Point-Buy system or the BeCKS system.
Is this by design? |
I've checked and checked my SRC (printed 1999) and there are NO rules for priority. Could you cite books and page number for this alternate rule? thanks

I keep getting told my character is illegal. The same character worked under the old system. It keeps saying:
Incompatible: biorejection vs biorejection(magic active) cite:src19 Incompatible: biorejection(magic active) vs biorejection(magic active) cite:src19
I got this when making the character from scratch, but I also got it seperately when trying to import the character. I rebooted my computer between those 2 attempts. |
You can edit the Incompat.DAT file to remove that entry. I cannot diagnose without the original SR3 file. If you wish to send to me, I'll take a look at it.

New version 3.67 now posted. Including all of the bug fixes this also addresses the repeatitive "finalize" step by removing for existing characters. Also, new versions of the XSL by Mike Green & Karl Kendrick for the improved credstick. You now have the ability to add/modify/remove to your credsticks specifically. I've tested it but of course, not as thoroughly as you people will. Let me know what you think... Next up (when I have time)... magical ally spirits.

I assume you are trying to do this at chargen. If you want a lvel 2 contact in addition to the two freebees, try adding a whole new contact.
If you want one level 2 at chargen (and no others), then try deleting one of the freebees first. (Just an idea...no guarantees)
If you want 1 level 2 and one level 1 (freebee), I dunno.
I never have this problem, as I always fill my freebees with level 1s and work from there.
Remember, after a character is finalized, you can do whatever you like with Contacts...add new ones, change levels, etc, all for no monetary cost). I believe some of these changes are reflected on the GM Info sheet. If worst comes to worst, make level 1 contacts and just change them after finalization.

Strictly speaking, you can't exchange the two freebies for a Level 2, or for that matter pay ¥5k to upgrade one. You have to get entirely new contacts.

OK. Why can I not save a begining character to my hard drive when I hit the save button within the program window?? It appears to do something, but a window does not open to let me save the .sr3 file to a directory path or change the file name.
I also noticed that a "default" .sr3 file does not get generated and saved within the program's directories either.
I am using 3.67 version of NSRCG on a Windows XP SP2 machine. Is there a security option I need to disable within XP SP2 in order to save the file or is this a bug within the NSRCG program??

I just reinstalled and tested with the current version. It seems to work for me. Could you please verify that the read-only is NOT set on your directory and create a file in the SR3 directory (don't use the program, use .. Notepad)? Thx.

That's what it was. The directory and subdirectories where I installed NSRCG had the property of read only. Once I unset this property a save window now opens and I was able to save the current .sr3 file to a directory.
Thanks.

Is there any way we can compromise? Maybe a check box in th eoptions that can turn off this feature? Like I said, I don't like it.

mcmackie: On adding and using karma. When you do a regular add-and-set karma, spend it, then go to finalize so you can reprint, NSRCG deducts the spent karma and leaves it as unspent. I've found the trick to keep it from doing that is to hit Print and then Finalize it (since it'll bounce an error).

Another problem: When getting eyeware, it does the adding thing and limits, yadda yadda. However, I'm at 1.12 eye and am adding an option for 0.08. It tells me it cannot exceed 1.20, which is right, excep that 1.12 + 0.08 is most definitely 1.20, exactly at the limit.
Would that just be an accidental if structure where you have >= instead of just >?
