HeySparky
Not even under the alternate More Metahumans rule where the the least common standard metahumans are priority 3?
mrobviousjosh
I don't know if this has been covered yet or not but one of the flaws I've seen with the program was with the contacts. If you go ahead and duplicate one of your free contacts and then delete the original, the copy still costs you $5,000 nuyen.gif . I understand the premise for this (to prevent getting free contacts) but perhaps there's some way for the program to recognize when you haven't been allotted your free contacts? A minor point but still thought I'd let you know about it. Also, will there be a way to add more free contacts for the next installment (my GM likes to give us one free Fixer for example). Keep up the great work! cyber.gif

Something strange I just noticed. Using version 3.66, so this might have been fixed already, but made a character with dermal sheathing 3, non-reuthenium, and it listed the armor as Cyber:Bone Lace when I finalized and printed. The character does not have bone lacing of any type.

It'll do this for adept power: mystic armor, too.

You should be able to add any and all the Contacts you want (at any level) after chargen (and finalizing). There is no charge, but IIRC the additions are listed in the GM output.
mrobviousjosh
Sounds like I can get around that now. Thanks!

This may have been addressed already but when I make a character I can raise his stats beyond the point limit. In other words if I have 20 points for stats I can go above that. Once I do, even if I go back, the stats are set to the new level.

This happened on winxp with the latest version downloaded.

This is correct behaviour. You'll notice it's taking from your skills points. This was a request from another user who thought this would work better. Prior to this, I had it stop you. If you want it to work differently, let me know.

This is correct. Unfortunately, I have to track the changes to armor due to cyberware mods. I thought that bone lacing was a good category as it cannot be removed, it adds to your other armor (unlike some), and it was the only category I had. Where would you put it? Or perhaps a re-labeling from "Bone Lacing" to "Cyberware Mods" ?

Hey mcmackie... terrific work. Unbelievable really. Thanks!

I have a question about generating meta-variant characters. It seems like you can only select the meta-variants if you build your character with the Point-Buy system or the BeCKS system.

Is this by design?

I've checked and checked my SRC (printed 1999) and there are NO rules for priority. Could you cite books and page number for this alternate rule? thanks

I keep getting told my character is illegal. The same character worked under the old system. It keeps saying:

Incompatible: biorejection vs biorejection(magic active) cite:src19
Incompatible: biorejection(magic active) vs biorejection(magic active) cite:src19

I got this when making the character from scratch, but I also got it seperately when trying to import the character. I rebooted my computer between those 2 attempts.

You can edit the Incompat.DAT file to remove that entry. I cannot diagnose without the original SR3 file. If you wish to send to me, I'll take a look at it.
mcmackie
New version 3.67 now posted. Including all of the bug fixes this also addresses the repeatitive "finalize" step by removing for existing characters. Also, new versions of the XSL by Mike Green & Karl Kendrick for the improved credstick. You now have the ability to add/modify/remove to your credsticks specifically. I've tested it but of course, not as thoroughly as you people will. Let me know what you think... Next up (when I have time)... magical ally spirits.
Fortune
Much obliged. Downloading now. smile.gif

I downloaded the new version, and after uninstalling the previous one, installed it on my laptop (running up-to-date XP). When I run the program, none of the actual buttons work, and the titles (or labels) don't show up.

I uninstalled and re-installed, with the results being the same.

Yep, it's FUBAR... Okay, uploaded new version and test downloaded & installed it. It should be okay now... Let me know if you find anything else. Thanks biggrin.gif
Fortune
No problems. Thanks for the prompt response. smile.gif
Whizbang
Don't know if it's been addressed in a later version, but I've been wanting to get contacts higher than lvl 1, but when I try to do that and hit update, it resets to lvl 1.
Fortune
I assume you are trying to do this at chargen. If you want a lvel 2 contact in addition to the two freebees, try adding a whole new contact.

If you want one level 2 at chargen (and no others), then try deleting one of the freebees first. (Just an idea...no guarantees)

If you want 1 level 2 and one level 1 (freebee), I dunno.

I never have this problem, as I always fill my freebees with level 1s and work from there.

Remember, after a character is finalized, you can do whatever you like with Contacts...add new ones, change levels, etc, all for no monetary cost). I believe some of these changes are reflected on the GM Info sheet. If worst comes to worst, make level 1 contacts and just change them after finalization. wink.gif
Kagetenshi
Strictly speaking, you can't exchange the two freebies for a Level 2, or for that matter pay ¥5k to upgrade one. You have to get entirely new contacts.

Fortune
I thought so, but I figured there might be a loophole. As I said, I always have too many Contacts for this to be a problem. smile.gif

Is there an easy way to add armor in the vehicle section? Or am I missing something.....? You can buy all sorts of options, but I cannot find armor.....

OK. Why can I not save a begining character to my hard drive when I hit the save button within the program window?? It appears to do something, but a window does not open to let me save the .sr3 file to a directory path or change the file name.

I also noticed that a "default" .sr3 file does not get generated and saved within the program's directories either.

I am using 3.67 version of NSRCG on a Windows XP SP2 machine. Is there a security option I need to disable within XP SP2 in order to save the file or is this a bug within the NSRCG program??

I just reinstalled and tested with the current version. It seems to work for me. Could you please verify that the read-only is NOT set on your directory and create a file in the SR3 directory (don't use the program, use .. Notepad)? Thx.
SentineloftheMountain
That's what it was. The directory and subdirectories where I installed NSRCG had the property of read only. Once I unset this property a save window now opens and I was able to save the current .sr3 file to a directory.

Thanks.

Well....

I don't like it, mainly cause if I go over I forget what my original plan was. I did not notice it taking it from my skill points, but I wasn't looking.

Is there any way we can compromise? Maybe a check box in th eoptions that can turn off this feature? Like I said, I don't like it.

And if it hasn't been said enough.... I love the NSRCG! We shoudl have shirts printed up for Gencon

Sure, I'll look into it as an check option... Shouldn't be a problem. The same argument could be made the other way... biggrin.gif... Next version.

So who is gunna be the first to snag a copy of SOTA:2064 and add in all the new Adept Powers and nifty gear stuff?
Tanka
If I had money, I'd do it.

Work for a year then go to being a poor college kid. Bad move.

Or get yourself 50 grand into dept. That doesn't help your book collection much either. smile.gif

It does if you spent that $50k on books. wink.gif

mcmackie: On adding and using karma. When you do a regular add-and-set karma, spend it, then go to finalize so you can reprint, NSRCG deducts the spent karma and leaves it as unspent. I've found the trick to keep it from doing that is to hit Print and then Finalize it (since it'll bounce an error).
DrJest
Creating a Physical Magician, I select the Bio-rejection (Magic Active) Flaw, but then get a GM Info error saying it's incompatible. It will, however, accept the normal Bio-Rejection flaw.
PiXeL01
I dont know if I shold post this here but ...

The Dragon Totem is missing. It should have been in the YoTC dat file, but I guess it was left out.

Ihave found that it keeps the cache from on character to another when it comes to karma. But yes if you finalise the karma and reload the character it does solve your problem
Tanka
Another problem: When getting eyeware, it does the adding thing and limits, yadda yadda. However, I'm at 1.12 eye and am adding an option for 0.08. It tells me it cannot exceed 1.20, which is right, excep that 1.12 + 0.08 is most definitely 1.20, exactly at the limit.

Would that just be an accidental if structure where you have >= instead of just >?
Fortune
IIRC, some of the individual Smartlink subsystems (besides the obvious eye display) mistakenly count as eye implants. That might be the problem.
Tanka
Nope, nothing but straight up eyeware in right now.
Eyeless Blond
Hm. The eye thing seems to work fine for me. Care to give a more detailed description (eg. what you added, what order you added it in, etc)?
Thistledown
Ok, something's not right here.

Tried making a new piece of gear under the gear tab for 5000 bucks, then hit the x->veh button. Went to vehicles and it was under imported gear, but costing 50,001 dollars.

CODE
Part (Essence, (Modified Essence))

Replacements Alpha (.16)
-Flare Comp Alpha (.08, free)
-Light Systems Alpha (.16, free)
-Low Light Alpha (.16, free)
-Opticam Alpha (.40, .30)
-Thermographic (.16)

Total: 1.12

I still have room for another .08.

Fortune
Try adding Protective Covers (Essense 0) and see if it's actually an essense problem. Other than that, you have nothing installed?
Tanka
Ears, Data Compactor 4, Datajack, Math SPU, 600MP Headmem

Other than that, no.

I can add the covers just fine.

The EyeTotal even says 1.12.
Fortune
Try starting a new character and install the eyes (and mods) first.
Tanka
Still no dice.

It's really a non-matter at the moment, as I decided on a different character for the game I'm making this for.

However, I'd like to see it resolved for future uses.
Whizbang
Hmm...so the eye cyberware total includes the cyber eye replacement, and doesn't take into consideration the .5 essence it's supposed to absorb?
Fortune
You could always just add it with 'no rules' and send an attached note to the GM with an explanation.
Tanka
Whizbang: No, it adds those up as well. Those total 1.12 without being modified by the .5 of space.

Fortune: Yes, true, however a lot of people don't think of that (and then you also have some money sitting about).
Fortune
Yeah I know. With the new credstick system the money issue is lessened though.
mrobviousjosh
Two things real quick:
1) When it says SRG in the Edges/Flaws section, what book is that referring to?
2) Is there any way to prevent Sensitive System and Bio rejection or any other combinations that are illegal from being barred? The players in my group constantly need babysitting because they ignore it. Thanks.
