Ok, let's get this thing started. A few things I need from each of you:
-First: Couple each of you send me an email at morrolan (at) hotmail (dot) com with the final version of your character sheet. Just want to make sure I have the latest version.
-Second: I need to know just what your characters would be looking at in the Stuffer Shack. For those of you who don't know, Stuffer Shack is like a small version of a Wal-Mart or K-Mart. They have pretty much anything you could possibly want from food & drink, to low-end clothes, to electronics, to automotive supplies, etc., etc., etc.
-Third: I need Perception Test rolls from everybody. For those with the Perception skill, that would be Perception + Intuition - 2 dice because of distraction. For those without the Perception skill, that would be just Intuition - 2 dice for distraction and - another 1 die for defaulting.
-Fourth: Almost forgot this one, what mode do you have your commlink operating in?
[ Spoiler ]
Active: Th is mode is the default for most PANs. In active mode, you can both access and be accessed by other nodes (PANs, devices, and networks). Certain areas may require your PAN to be in active mode (airports, corp facilities, etc.)
Passive: A PAN in this mode can access nodes but cannot be accessed by them without your approval. PANs in passive mode will still show up as active networks if searched for. Th is mode is useful for operating in high traffi c areas, where advertising nets or spammers abound. Passive mode allows you to automatically fi lter out the noise, only alerting you if specifi c pre-authorized nodes request access.
Hidden: In this mode, your PAN is invisible to other nodes unless you access or authorize them. PAN users in hidden mode are said to be “ghosting,” since there is no way for other users to see them. Using hidden mode is discouraged in some high-class social situations, where it is considered rude. In other areas, however—particularly tech-free zones or shadow establishments where privacy is expected—the opposite is true. Certain secure areas and high-class establishments prohibit users from operating in hidden mode, and will punish those doing so with expulsion, arrest, or worse.
EDIT: -Fifth: What gear do you have on you.

We're all on the honor system. You can use whatever rolling method you like and you just post the results in a [ spoiler ].
Dashifen has created (and is continueing to develop) a very good
SR4 Dice Roller if you want to use that, though it currently only works with Windows.
And there is a link to get a shadowrun dice roller widget for OSX on the

Ok one more question on style :
Do we use this board for game rules, mechanics , moves and rolls and just post story stuff in character on the IC? Or do we include OOC posts in there with what we intent to do?
I have also noticed some colour coding going on in the game (bold white fo rnames, speaking aloud is coloured usually etc etc) are we using anything specific here?
Sorry if I am being a pain...
Slacker
Sep 13 2005, 01:48 PM
It's not a pain at all.
The IC thread is for in-character posts only (character thoughts, character speaking, your description of what he is doing, etc.)
The OOC is for all discussion of game rules, mechanics, dice rolls, etc.
The usual way of handling this is to post OOC what you want to do, with the necessary rolls, then once the GM (me) tells you what the results are you can post how your character sees those actions happening in the IC thread.
It is fairly typical to bold character/player names to draw that players attention to the post. And itallics is often used to indicate your characters thoughts.

1. the latest version of Taku's sheet is in the Recruitment thread. I'll copy it here if you want me to.
2. Taku will be looking for food and especially something to drink. He'll try to find something labeled as "contains no soy" or 'bio', even though he doesn't really believe the label. Basically a sandwich or just some kind of pastry plus a couple of fruity energy-drinks would be fine. He's probably quite thirsty for some reason. Before that though, I now realize (after writing 5.) that I'm missing something in my gear
![embarrassed.gif](http://forums.dumpshock.com/html/emoticons/embarrassed.gif)
so yeah Taku will be looking for a secure jacket first, and then go to the right section to find something to eat.

Why spoilers for rolls...
4. Taku is the private kind of guy, unless there's a specific reason not to, he'll keep his commlink in hidden mode and avoid active mode at all times.
5. I'll give a desc of his appearance IC, but even though you didn't ask, I assume we should tell you what we're carrying, no ?

Oops...I don't know how I could forget that. Yes I'd like to know what gear your carrying, mostly only weapons though.
Sorry, but armor and weapons are where Stuffer Shack draws the line. They don't carry such things. Looking for that kind of food you'll be heading towards the back of the store, or you could be heading for the chilled drinks (non-alcoholic, alcoholic, and synthalcohol) off to the right, or you could be going to the soft drink dispensers in the back left corner.
The spoilers for rolls isn't absolutely necessary, but it is pretty standard practice in the forum threads (at least in my experience). Mostly its because your teammates shouldn't know just how well/poorly you rolled.
With that roll you probably didn't see much, I'll be posting IC just what you do see once I have time in between work.
Hidden mode should cause no problems here, though you're going to miss out on all those nice pop-up adds with the special sales going on (especially the elf porn

Actually, the team has been out on the town all night and just stopped here to get some 'stuffers' before heading home to get some rest. Specifically, you had been frequenting some shadow haunts trying to drum up some business because you're a relatively new team and haven't had a job in a little while.
So Rydell probably would be carrying her Predator.
And it's not that Crosshairs woke up early, its that he has been awake all night. Also your Enhanced Perception power gives you one more die to roll for the Perception test. I went ahead and rolled it for you giving you an additional success.

it happening is once I get up in the morning.
Edit: Guess I woke myself up too completely in posting earlier. Oh well, so I lose a little sleep and most of you don't get to experience the suspense. I've posted what's going on IC.
Now it is time to roll Initiative. Roll your Initiative attribute (Reaction + Intuition). Then add the number of successes to your Initiative score. (i.e. If you have a reaction 4 and intuition 3, you roll 7 dice, getting 2 successes which you add to your Initiative to get an initiative score of 9.)
Then tell me at least a rough idea of what you plan on doing, it doesn't
have to be combat oriented, but I figure most people will be doing something along those lines.

My description of relative position have been a little bit lacking I suppose.
Right now, Rydell is probably only about 3 meters from the cash register, and thanks to her hidden Urban Brawl skills, Mrs. Needles and her kid are about 10 meters down the aisle from Rydell.
Crosshairs, you're at the end of that same aisle standing next to the refrigerated section. Mrs. Needles and Louis (her kid), are about 5 meters away from you and headed right in your direction.
Taku You are about 6 meters North of Crosshairs and Static (the crazy guy with the shotgun) is about that distance down the aisle you were just passing.
Tempty you were just coming out from an aisle about 6 meters from the double doors the troll went through and about 7 meters from the ganger chic, Zany. Close to 20 meters away from the counter where SlicerDicer and the three new comers are/headed towards.
Zelda, you are one aisle South of Tempty, at the end of it. so About 3 meters south of Rydell and maybe 8 or 9 from Zany. About 16 meters North of the counter where Wanda, the cashier, is being threatened.
Oh and the dwarf store manager, Mr. Nick, is about halfway between Zelda and the cash register. And the stockboy (Johnny) is at the other end of the aisle Tempty just came out of.

Assuming 4 is the TN for initiative (??), total initiative would be 14 (+ ? for improved reflexes)
Taku's first action will be to grab a credstick or his wallet and approach relatively quickly the shotgun wielder, hoping to take him by surprise. "Here have my money I don't want to fight you." Then as Taku comes close he'll throw or hand the wallet to get the surprise to attack swiftly with his free arm with a rough blow to knock the shotgun off his grip (no use deadly hands if not necessary, although use of critical strike). The second action will be to either pin the guy if he's still dangerous, or take cover if danger is rather coming from other gun wielders.

The 1.5x Skill only comes into account when adept power, cyber, or magic enhances the skill rating. Smartlink and Specialization enhance the dice pool not the skill. At least, that is my interpretation of it and that is what matters since I am the GM.

The targets armor doesn't come into account in the initial Opposed Test. So it doesn't affect this first roll.
After we determine the net successes from the initial Opposed Test, we compare the armor and then I do damage resistance.
You will suffer a -2 modifier because she has partial cover from a counter-top island between her and you.
But we will get into all of that once I have everybody's Initiative rolls.

Sep 14 2005, 03:00 PM
The targets armor does come into affect if your trying to bypass it though, doesn't it? Isn't a -X dice from your roll to avoid hitting armor in the rules? I don't remember if it was known as a called shot or not, but I am pretty sure its one of the options, I think the other option for a called shot was -X dice from the roll +X to the damage value.
