Ok, let's get this thing started. A few things I need from each of you:
-First: Couple each of you send me an email at morrolan (at) hotmail (dot) com with the final version of your character sheet. Just want to make sure I have the latest version.
-Second: I need to know just what your characters would be looking at in the Stuffer Shack. For those of you who don't know, Stuffer Shack is like a small version of a Wal-Mart or K-Mart. They have pretty much anything you could possibly want from food & drink, to low-end clothes, to electronics, to automotive supplies, etc., etc., etc.
-Third: I need Perception Test rolls from everybody. For those with the Perception skill, that would be Perception + Intuition - 2 dice because of distraction. For those without the Perception skill, that would be just Intuition - 2 dice for distraction and - another 1 die for defaulting.
-Fourth: Almost forgot this one, what mode do you have your commlink operating in?
[ Spoiler ]

EDIT: -Fifth: What gear do you have on you.

First post first post - Muhahahahaha! WOOOHOO!
biggrin.gif

Will be doing the things you requested - A quick heads up though as this is my first try at a dumpshock forum game- how do you guys handle rolls? Where do you roll them?
Slacker
We're all on the honor system. You can use whatever rolling method you like and you just post the results in a [ spoiler ].

Dashifen has created (and is continueing to develop) a very good SR4 Dice Roller if you want to use that, though it currently only works with Windows.

And there is a link to get a shadowrun dice roller widget for OSX on the Shadowrunrpg.com
netlich
Ok one more question on style :

Do we use this board for game rules, mechanics , moves and rolls and just post story stuff in character on the IC? Or do we include OOC posts in there with what we intent to do?
I have also noticed some colour coding going on in the game (bold white fo rnames, speaking aloud is coloured usually etc etc) are we using anything specific here?

Sorry if I am being a pain...

Slacker
It's not a pain at all.

The IC thread is for in-character posts only (character thoughts, character speaking, your description of what he is doing, etc.)

The OOC is for all discussion of game rules, mechanics, dice rolls, etc.

The usual way of handling this is to post OOC what you want to do, with the necessary rolls, then once the GM (me) tells you what the results are you can post how your character sees those actions happening in the IC thread.

It is fairly typical to bold character/player names to draw that players attention to the post. And itallics is often used to indicate your characters thoughts.
gobogen
1. the latest version of Taku's sheet is in the Recruitment thread. I'll copy it here if you want me to.

2. Taku will be looking for food and especially something to drink. He'll try to find something labeled as "contains no soy" or 'bio', even though he doesn't really believe the label. Basically a sandwich or just some kind of pastry plus a couple of fruity energy-drinks would be fine. He's probably quite thirsty for some reason. Before that though, I now realize (after writing 5.) that I'm missing something in my gear embarrassed.gif so yeah Taku will be looking for a secure jacket first, and then go to the right section to find something to eat.

3.
[ Spoiler ]

4. Taku is the private kind of guy, unless there's a specific reason not to, he'll keep his commlink in hidden mode and avoid active mode at all times.

5. I'll give a desc of his appearance IC, but even though you didn't ask, I assume we should tell you what we're carrying, no ?
Slacker
QUOTE

Oops...I don't know how I could forget that. Yes I'd like to know what gear your carrying, mostly only weapons though.

Sorry, but armor and weapons are where Stuffer Shack draws the line. They don't carry such things. Looking for that kind of food you'll be heading towards the back of the store, or you could be heading for the chilled drinks (non-alcoholic, alcoholic, and synthalcohol) off to the right, or you could be going to the soft drink dispensers in the back left corner.

The spoilers for rolls isn't absolutely necessary, but it is pretty standard practice in the forum threads (at least in my experience). Mostly its because your teammates shouldn't know just how well/poorly you rolled.

With that roll you probably didn't see much, I'll be posting IC just what you do see once I have time in between work.

Hidden mode should cause no problems here, though you're going to miss out on all those nice pop-up adds with the special sales going on (especially the elf porn wink.gif )

gobogen
damn ! there was elf porn ? frown.gif oh .. man

nyahnyah.gif

Carrying a good old predator on himself in a holster, and an extra clip (gel ammo in gun, reg in clip). He has a backback which contains his camo suit.
Shalimar
1:I'll email the sheet when I get home, but the stats are all in the recruitment thread
2:Tempty is looking for a drink and one of those ready made type meals, like push a button and it heats up, something quick and easy
3:
[ Spoiler ]

4: Passive Mode, I guess this is the norm for most people, only allowing people to access with user authorization.

5)Gear
[ Spoiler ]
Slacker
Shalimar, there is food/drink kiosk in the back left corner, kind of like you'd expect to see in a gas station store. It's got drink dispensers, microwaves, even pizza and synthmeat "hot dog" dispensers.
Were you thinking of taking advantage of that, or more of just pre-packaged heat-and-server products found in a regular grocery store?

Could we get a quick reference with all the player names, character names and archtype ?
Slacker

What? You want to be able to know who the people in your team are? That's just insane. smile.gif

Ok, I'll post it in a few minutes.
Slacker
The runner team consists of:

Taro Koizumi, aka "Taku", Human Physical Adept archetype, played by gobogen
Tempty Windsong, Human Gun Bunny archetype, played by Shalimar
Zelda, Human Hacker, played by Whizbang
Rydell Deane, aka "The Dean", Elf Face archtype, played by Wintermancer
Osok? (not sure if the name was ever finalized), Human Gunslinger Adept, played by HMHVV Hunter

And Cedric Rolfsson's character is yet to be named or archetyped, though he originally said he was going to be a Mystic Adept.
Wintermancer
1: Sheet is on its way.

2: Rydell is swinging into the Stuffer Shack to pick up a fresh pack of cigarettes. Nicotine fits suck. smile.gif

1. Will send shortly
2. She's after sweets, but she'll likely be sidetracked by the clothes. smile.gif

Shalimar, forgot to mention that you get +2 dice on the perception test because of one of your pieces of cyber.

I was thinking more the pre-packaged stuff. You put it into a microwave and in 30 seconds to a minute you have a meal read to go, just peel back the wrapper and chow down.
Wintermancer
I just realized I'm the only metahuman in the team. I feel special!

Also, given the opening description in IC... I'm assuming all our characters already know each other?

Winter
Shalimar
Slacker, I wrote a program to do die rolls, I'm just going to use it from now on if thats ok. Its in C++ so It wont work on MACs.

http://home.comcast.net/~smp19026/Die_Roller.exe

anyway, thanks for reminding me about the vision enhancers, here is the info for the reroll

[ Spoiler ]
Slacker
Yep, you're the only meta in the whole team Wintermancer. I guess the rest really liked the +1 Edge Humans get.

Shalimar, that Die Roller is fine, but you might want to check out Dashifen's its great and it is already setup to roll Edge either before or after the roll, taking into account exploding 6's in either case. And it makes note of gltiches and critical glitches.
Shalimar
Mine makes note of glitches and critical glitches as well. I just did it to refresh my C++, I'll be continually tinkering with it to add features for the duration.
Shalimar
So do you want us to post yet what we're doing, or will you tell us when to start?
HMHVV Hunter
Blast! Sorry if I'm late; I'm REALLY busy at home, so I haven't noticed this all day.

I'll send a sheet to you tonight; can you wait that long?

Edit: I also haven't had a chance to read the rules, so if it's possible, I need a walkthrough my first time through combat (sorry; it's been really hectic in real life for me lately)
gobogen
Well I went ahead and posted something. It shouldn't affect much of anything.
Slacker
Its no problem HMHVV. The character sheet is no big deal, I just wanted to double check that I have everybody's most up-to-date sheet.
HMHVV Hunter
Dammit! I can't think of a name STILL!

Some humorous British slang sorta name or something is what I'm looking for, but...argh! Need name to post IC!
Slacker
Lol, well first you need to tell me the answers to the questions I posed initiall in this thread. (i.e. What are you looking for in Stuffer Shack, What mode your commlink is running in, What gear you have with you, and a Perception Test roll).
HMHVV Hunter
On the roll:

Do you still use D6s?

As to what he's looking for: probably the equivalent of a Starbuck's cold frappacino

And commlink: Passive mode
Whizbang
gotta love those frappachinos smile.gif

Yep, it's still all D6's in SR4.
Wintermancer
EDIT: Disregard. I'm a natural blond RL.
Slacker
You can if you want to. As soon as HMHVV rolls his perception test (and gives his character a name), I'll post something IC for him.

Then comes the fun, as all actions will abruptly be interrupted by something. eek.gif

QUOTE (HMHVV Hunter)
Is the Rule of 6 still used?

Only if you spend an edge point.
HMHVV Hunter
Ah hell. Might as well pick a street name so I can get started.

Crosshairs. That's it.
HMHVV Hunter
On him, Crosshairs has:

-His Lined Trenchcoat
-2 Colt Manhunters
-2 spare clips each for the Manhunters

As for the Perception test:

6 dice, -2 dice for distraction:

3, 4, 4, 5

Don't know how many successes that translates to.
HMHVV Hunter
Here's my final character sheet for easy reference:

[ Spoiler ]
Wintermancer
That reminds me. Since this was just a little shopping expedition, Rydell wouldn't have her Predator on her; just the Stun Baton and Yamaha Pulsar. She leaves work at home. smile.gif

Winter
Slacker
Actually, the team has been out on the town all night and just stopped here to get some 'stuffers' before heading home to get some rest. Specifically, you had been frequenting some shadow haunts trying to drum up some business because you're a relatively new team and haven't had a job in a little while.

So Rydell probably would be carrying her Predator.

And it's not that Crosshairs woke up early, its that he has been awake all night. Also your Enhanced Perception power gives you one more die to roll for the Perception test. I went ahead and rolled it for you giving you an additional success.
Slacker
Just posted something IC for everybody. I think that is enough for a late night/waking up in the middle of the night post. I wanted to leave you in suspense smile.gif

I'll post just what the it happening is once I get up in the morning.

Edit: Guess I woke myself up too completely in posting earlier. Oh well, so I lose a little sleep and most of you don't get to experience the suspense. I've posted what's going on IC.

Now it is time to roll Initiative. Roll your Initiative attribute (Reaction + Intuition). Then add the number of successes to your Initiative score. (i.e. If you have a reaction 4 and intuition 3, you roll 7 dice, getting 2 successes which you add to your Initiative to get an initiative score of 9.)

Then tell me at least a rough idea of what you plan on doing, it doesn't have to be combat oriented, but I figure most people will be doing something along those lines.
Wintermancer

[ Spoiler ]

Rydell is going to try to quietly calm Ms. Needles and her kid and herd them safely to a rear exit. Try to keep a couple innocents from being caught in the crossfire. Her hand will stay close to her (still holstered, so as not to freak the civvies) Predator in case she needs to pull it and blast something.

Winter
Whizbang
[ Spoiler ]

Taking cover back in the candy aisle, ready to draw her Manhunter if the baddies decided to follow her. But anyways, she's taking a look on the network to see if there's any cameras that they might have missed, and if a call has gone out to Lone Star yet. (what's their response time hereabouts anyways? If any smile.gif)
Slacker
My description of relative position have been a little bit lacking I suppose.
Right now, Rydell is probably only about 3 meters from the cash register, and thanks to her hidden Urban Brawl skills, Mrs. Needles and her kid are about 10 meters down the aisle from Rydell.
Crosshairs, you're at the end of that same aisle standing next to the refrigerated section. Mrs. Needles and Louis (her kid), are about 5 meters away from you and headed right in your direction.
Taku You are about 6 meters North of Crosshairs and Static (the crazy guy with the shotgun) is about that distance down the aisle you were just passing.
Tempty you were just coming out from an aisle about 6 meters from the double doors the troll went through and about 7 meters from the ganger chic, Zany. Close to 20 meters away from the counter where SlicerDicer and the three new comers are/headed towards.
Zelda, you are one aisle South of Tempty, at the end of it. so About 3 meters south of Rydell and maybe 8 or 9 from Zany. About 16 meters North of the counter where Wanda, the cashier, is being threatened.

Oh and the dwarf store manager, Mr. Nick, is about halfway between Zelda and the cash register. And the stockboy (Johnny) is at the other end of the aisle Tempty just came out of.
gobogen
[ Spoiler ]

Taku's first action will be to grab a credstick or his wallet and approach relatively quickly the shotgun wielder, hoping to take him by surprise. "Here have my money I don't want to fight you." Then as Taku comes close he'll throw or hand the wallet to get the surprise to attack swiftly with his free arm with a rough blow to knock the shotgun off his grip (no use deadly hands if not necessary, although use of critical strike). The second action will be to either pin the guy if he's still dangerous, or take cover if danger is rather coming from other gun wielders.

Let me know if my actions are allowed and what I should roll for them.
Slacker
Remember that is the guy who was talking to the toaster oven earlier and he doesn't really seem all there.

Actually, I'll go ahead and tell you this. From his stance you would probably say he is more guarding the toaster oven behind him than threatening you.

I'm going to wait for everybody to post initiative before saying anything else, but those actions should be just fine for when you get your turn.
gobogen
With that in mind, I will likely act differently, or at least focus on a different target. It's more gonna be "Here have the toaster, I don't want to fight you." and actually not fight him wink.gif
Shalimar
[ Spoiler ]

Tempty is going to pull her pistol and put a hole in the ganger girl. I don't recall what type of an action it is to throw up her wired reflexes, I heard someone say it was possible to do regardless of who's turn it is, not sure, and I don't have my pdf with me at the moment. If it can't go up before her turn, she'll activate it on her turn.

It'll give her 3 initiative passes I believe. She will target the girl to bypass any armor (-x to dice pool where x is armor level).

7 (agility) + 8 (pistols + Spec) +2 (SmartLink) - (targets armor)
Would that be right? I think the dice above 1.5x Skill are allowed to offset penalties, but I'm not sure.
Slacker
QUOTE

Turning on your Wired Reflexes is a Free action. You can take one Free action on your turn or later in the Initiative Pass, but you can't use it before your turn comes around.

QUOTE
I think the dice above 1.5x Skill are allowed to offset penalties, but I'm not sure.

The 1.5x Skill only comes into account when adept power, cyber, or magic enhances the skill rating. Smartlink and Specialization enhance the dice pool not the skill. At least, that is my interpretation of it and that is what matters since I am the GM.

QUOTE
7 (agility) + 8 (pistols + Spec) +2 (SmartLink) - (targets armor)

The targets armor doesn't come into account in the initial Opposed Test. So it doesn't affect this first roll.
After we determine the net successes from the initial Opposed Test, we compare the armor and then I do damage resistance.

You will suffer a -2 modifier because she has partial cover from a counter-top island between her and you.

But we will get into all of that once I have everybody's Initiative rolls.

Shalimar
The targets armor does come into affect if your trying to bypass it though, doesn't it? Isn't a -X dice from your roll to avoid hitting armor in the rules? I don't remember if it was known as a called shot or not, but I am pretty sure its one of the options, I think the other option for a called shot was -X dice from the roll +X to the damage value.
