We have two AKs. There's also a distiction between weapon accessories and mods. Accessories can be added or removed. Mods are integrated into the weapon. Since you're giving thresholds, then those are from the mods section, if memory serves me right. Can you double check to see if there are accessory versions of the grenade launcher and foregrip and if the prices for the accessory versions of the rest of the items are the same in the core book? And please see if there are any rules for installing accessories that are distinct from mods.

The AK-97 Carbine (submachine gun): 5P, SA/BF/FA, RC (1), Ammo: 30©, Availability 4R, Cost: 400
The AK-97 (assault rifle): 6P, AP -1, SA/BF/FA, no RC, Ammo: 38©, Availability 4R, Cost: 500
The AK-98 (assault rifle): 6P, AP -1, SA/BF/FA, no RC, Ammo: 38©, Availability 8F, Cost: 1000; includes grenade launcher (SS, 6m)

Accessory:
Sling: Costs 15; not sure why this is 5 more than the "mod" version. The entry under Accessories only talks about making it easier to hold onto the weapon; the Modifications entry (no slots, kit, threshold 4) gives concealability and recoil compensation as well. o_O
Gas-vent System: Listed as an accessory in SR4a, but is really a mod. Stats as Farothel noted.
Smartgun system: My copy of SR4a lists the Top/Under accessory as 400 (not 500) nuyen, 4R. The Modification is "weapon cost", threshold 8, availability 6R, shop.
Foregrip under, cost 100, shop, treshold 2 as farothel noted. The foregrip mod also gives +1 Concealability; 1 slot, costs 50, treshold 8, shop.
Laser Sight: Accessory: top/under, availability 2, cost 100.
Grenade Launcher: I'm not seeing this as an accessory or a mod, except on specific weapons. Not seeing it in Chummer, either.

QUOTE (Arsenal @ page 148)
Modifications vs. Accessories
Some of the weapon modifications presented in this list are also available as firearm accessories. The difference between the two of them is that accessories can be installed without requiring extensive mechanical knowledge, while modifications require an application of the modification rules mentioned at the beginning of this chapter.

Please note that a firearm can only hold one upgrade of a type, either from a modification or from an accessory. Once a firearm holds a modification of a particular type, it cannot be further equipped with an accessory of that type. On the other hand, if a weapon has an accessory attached to it, this accessory must be removed before a modification of the same type can be installed.

If an off-the-rack weapon comes with certain upgrades like smartgun, gas-vent system, etc., it is assumed that those upgrades are modifications instead of accessories. However, those modifications do not count toward the slot limit and the weapons themselves still count as unmodified.
Necrogigas
Thank you both. Final questions, I promise, the extended test interval is kit - 15 mintues, shop - 1 hour, facility - 1 day, correct? Do any of the aforementioned items require additional skills to install?

I had it indeed as 'weapon cost'. Since the weapon costs 500, that's what I put down. A smartgun system costs as much as the weapon you have to install it on. That's why I normally go for weapons with smartgun installed (mostly Ares weapons).

farothel
just as an FYI. I think I already mentioned it and if not, my apologies
I'll be on holiday from October 3rd until October 16th without internet access.
Necrogigas
So, Titan is gone. I started that, and I'm truly sorry if anyone feels I was out of bounds. I just wasn't okay with him trash talking us or our game any longer. My tipping point was him throwing Rhat and Hydro's misfortunes in our faces, as if real life problems don't hold sway.

New Beginnings is almost on its fifth year. Three of us have been here from the start and Mercy has been here for the majority at this point. PBP games die in months, if not weeks. This game's longevity is a testament to the fact that it means something to us. I couldn't swallow Titan's disrespect any longer. I hope everyone understands.

But moving forward, unless Crossbow has gotten PM replies to his thread, we don't have a player for Clem. Should she become an NPC or should one of the players take the reigns?
Mercy
I am all for either solution, except that I do not think I can do an adequate job with her. I would say we keep her around, though. I hate to just see characters go away in the middle of a run.

I have liked the game since I started or I would not still be here. I have learned a lot by playing, and do appreciate that you guys have had the patience to deal with someone who is playing outside his comfort zone as a hacker.
Thvor
I think I'd rather either a) Crossbow runs Clem as an NPC, or b) Crossbow writes Clem out of the story and has Jane pull in a new PC to shore up the team, similar to how Mercy replaced RHat.

Seconded.
Mercy
I can agree to that.
Necrogigas
Do we each have individual rooms?
farothel
Just to say that I will be away from tomorrow (4th of October) until the 16th without internet access. Sammy will be just following the rest of the group. I'll do the wards when I come back.

If Sammy is really needed for something, Mercy can write for her (the character is in the OOC topic).

No, this is nothing remotely like deluxe accommodations. It is essentially a large space with some movable partitions to create a sense of privacy and some rough and random furniture.
Necrogigas
How old is Lil' Homie?
Crossbow
Hard to tell, preteen, but not by much.
Necrogigas
Do we know if Lil' Homie is yoruba or igbo, and have we seen anything that physically differentiates the two tribes?

Also, isn't it past midnight? Is Lagos still popping this late, or are we on the next day?
Crossbow
If he is Igbo, he has learned fluency in Yoruba as well as English. There is no physical differentiators you can spot at this point, it is like trying to tell the difference between two different sects of Protestants.

Your time awareness is spot on, it is very late night/very early morning in Lagos. It is a 24 hour city, though it does reach a certain lull about this time like most places and there is a marked increase in nocturnal hunting in it's various magical and mundane varieties. Wouldn't be the worst idea to save the shopping trip for midday, but then you get the press of humanity.
Crossbow
The beer is 5 naira a bottle, and there are no maps.
Necrogigas
Since this shopping trip is coming out of the team fund, what's the conversion fee at hawalas?
Mercy
Does the man indeed have a hoodie for sale and for how much?
farothel
Hey, I'm back. I've done a quick post to get back into it.
Thvor
Sorry for being out of touch without warning; I was leading a Cub Scout campout this weekend, and spent much of the latter part of last week wrapped up in the preparations.
Necrogigas
Welcome back
Necrogigas
O'Connor's looking to learn who the local power players are, and what gangs have what turf.
farothel
I think we can go to the next day, or next part if the following day would not be interesting.
Necrogigas
I had a few NPC interactions, then a character beat between O'Connor and Snow planned. Just been waiting on Crossbow.

With the GM absent right now, I'm gonna skip ahead to the player stuff and work my way back to the NPC stuff once Crossbow is back.
Crossbow
Life has been happening, GAH!

Necro, Peaceful isn't able to give you an insights about the local scene that is anything new, you all have access to the piece that Jane gave you and the Feral Cities download on Shadowland. He does reinforce the point that you all, as a group, stand out as oyibos and to understand that marks you as targets. When Con puffs up at this, Peaceful relays a story , from the Area Boys side, that was posted to Shadowland:

pg 87 Feral Cities

> No shit. I refused to pay up one time, figuring my team and I could
handle the three punk kids who were demanding a toll to cross a
certain road. They drew their guns, we drew ours. We got off the
first shots, of course, killed all three of the punks where they stood.
Didn’t make it more than a city block before we were surrounded by
about fifty more kids, and those kids had AK-97s. It got real ugly,
real fast.
> Hard Exit

Seems that Hard Exit may have been the only person to make it out of that scrap.

Clean [Element] (Environmental, Area)
Type: P • Range: LOS (A) • Duration: P • DV: (F ÷ 2) + 2
This area spell clears all impurities out of the volume of a
particular element within range. Each element requires a different
spell (Clean Air, Clean Water, etc). For example, Clean Air
could be used to cleanse a room of toxic fumes, or Clean Water
could purify a drinking supply. The caster’s hits determine how
thoroughly the element is cleaned; slightly muddy water would
require only 1 hit to clean for example, whereas contaminated
runoff could require 4 or even 5 hits to make it drinkable.

You can probably get the formula if you are willing to pay, but you are unlikely to be given the opportunity to learn it. Check page 182 of the 20th anniversary book, and remember the Availability code is 8R. Marcus does not answer your call.

I should have brought my magical lodge with me. Well, I'll wait until I see an oportunity to actually learn this spell. It's too useful not to try to learn it.
Necrogigas
Might as well call that end of scene and.move forward.
Thvor
And it was a very nice scene, too!
Necrogigas
Thanks Thvor.
Crossbow
No excuses, trying to get the next scene put together, sorry all.
Thvor
Just so y’all know, I’m going to be starting a new job at the beginning of December. Shouldn’t impact my ability to play, but something to be aware of. smile.gif
Necrogigas
Did we bribe Peaceful for room security?
Crossbow
yes, that bribe is paid
farothel
It's been a while and there's a lot of posts. Do we have any idea of where this Samriel could be? Because trying to find someone in Lagos without some way of narrowing it down is like looking for a specific needle in a stack of needles.

If we don't: Dibs on Victoria Island.
Crossbow
You have no idea, but feel free to try and bribe your way pst the bridge
farothel
the official shadowrun forum is acting a bit wonky lately and I've seen rumour pass that they might pull the plug on that. As we still have a lot of New Beginnings stuff over there, it might not be a bad idea to copy it away to somewhere else (or at least make a summary of our past adventures so we can keep referencing things).
Crossbow
So I have copied all 8 threads to word documents. It is not hard if anyone wants to duplicate the effort. find the thread, hit print, cntrl A, ctrl C, paste into a word document.

I am not real good at sending big files and I know AOL has a limit for attachments, but we can figure things out if anyone wants the files I have.

Google docs, drop box,...
you can also put them into a PDF, which are mostly much smaller to sent.
Crossbow
I don't know how to do any of those.
Necrogigas
Merry Christmas.
Crossbow
Guess who has two thumbs and got a new laptop for Christmas...

Still have to get my files transferred, but I will be getting the game back on track as best I can.
Crossbow
Thvor and farothel, I need an idea of your plan to search, perhaps with a demonstration post. This area has all manner of low class flophouses, bars, brothels and drug dens, and it appears to be the center of the non-native population in the district.

I had the idea to use the 'our friend wasn't at the location we agreed and we're a bit worried about him' approach. We have a picture and if you give the bartenders a couple of naria, we should get information right. We can also try the port master (or his assistants) to see where he made landfall.

As Torley is the one who has to do the talking (and therefore the rolls), I can't really do much in the way of posts, but I'll make a start.
I can only search myself as soon as I have his astral signature.
farothel
I'll place my rolls here:

force 2 increase reflexes
spellcasting: 11d6t5 6
+1 reflexes, +1 IP (in focus)

drain 3
drain 3: 9d6t5 3
no drain

spirit of water (force 3, elemental attack extra power)
spirit summoning: 8d6t5 2

spirit counter roll
spirit counter roll: 3d6t5 0

2 services

drain 2 (minimum)
spirit drain 2: 9d6t5 2
no drain

Just so it is said, looking for check-ins from thvor and Mercy before pushing on.
farothel
I have contact with Mercy for other games via a chat and I know he just had a break-in into his house, so he might be slow for a while.
I can ask him to have a look when he finds the time.
