Hey, no one employed me for my Charisma and etti-kett ....

the last thing Lin Yao ever heard ... "Geeeeeerrrryyy ... Noooooooo!"
ChromeZephyr
Nope, though by that line neither was TW. His negotiation tactics tend to be "Do what I say, or I shoot you. A lot."
Dak
Let's see what Lin Yao has to say smile.gif
Mach_Ten
was hoping to drive him out of the club for questioning, but glad it didn't get that far with the snipers waiting for him.

does TW wanna give us a heads up about our new friends ?

I guess we can add another club to the list that I'm not coming back to biggrin.gif
ChromeZephyr
Planning on it, as soon as Slacker tells me anything TW observes on closer inspection. Probably nothing, but better to look then leap from the frying pan into the fire, to badly mix metaphors.

Frag. IC post incoming.

edit: Stop going off half-cocked, CZ. Slacker, perception checks on both the van and the citymaster. I want a closer look before I do anything rash, that's Silas' forte. nyahnyah.gif

Intuition 4 + Perception 3 + Vision Enhancement 3 + Observe in Detail 3 - Black truck: [1,2,3,2,5,5,5,3,3,4,4,1,1] = 3 hits - Citymaster:[3,1,2,5,6,1,2,1,1,5,5,1,5] = 5 hits.

From where you are, the black truck is as described before a black Toyota extended cab. Its got tinted windows and the lights are turned off. You can see inside of it. I don't know what else you want to know about it. Its not like its got a cannon sticking out of it or anything like that.

The city master pulled behind the building and cannot be observed currently. You'd have to get out and walk around to the other side of the club to get a good look at it. In the brief glimpse you got of it before it went out of view it seemed like a pretty normal city master with tinted windows, maybe some reinforcements that could have been hidden armor. You aren't sure.

You planning on shouting at him over the loud music while still in the club?
ChromeZephyr
Well, what I was after was seeing if there was anything else I might have missed on a cursory glance. Since that's not the case, I'll put up an IC post now.
Dak

Sure. But White is headed toward the door.
Dak
QUOTE (ChromeZephyr @ Jun 12 2013, 04:50 PM) *
The mercenary opened the surplus bag and retrieved the gas mask and one each of the thermal smoke and gas grenades, strapping the well-used mask over his grim face. The mask wouldn't provide much in the way of disguise from the omnipresent cameras Downtown, but it was better than nothing if everything went to hell. He set Mishka on top of the bag, then set the Smartgun to fully automatic. Finally, he unlatched the door to the van and opened it a centimeter in preparation. If we are to run, a quick entry. If we are to fight, a quick engagement.

I love this team.

At that, White heads for the front door, only pausing to make sure that his associates (and Acson) are in accompaniment.
Slacker
So currently, we have the group of Mr. White, Gardner, Parker Acson, and Silas making their way to the front door. Mr. White has called the number for Lin Yao Chang, but the music is so loud that the "hello" from the other end of the line didn't quite come through.

Please post up something about how Mr. White is trying to handle that conversation. Keep in mind that while you are in the club you're going to have to shout into your commlink to be heard. Are you just going to be heading straight out to the van or out?

Also, of note is that in addition to Needle being unable to post, it seems like we've lost O'Ryan who was playing Eclipse. It's been weeks since he last posted and I couldn't get a response from him when I tried to send him a direct message. I'm loath to NPC both players, especially when it comes to a fire fight. So, I'm going to roll with it as that Eclipse on his motorcycle had been stationed in the alley behind the club to watch that angle. And the team has currently lost contact with him. If O'Ryan never shows up again it'll be because Eclipse is dead. If O'Ryan is able to make it back to the game, the radio silence will be because he ran into an old girlfriend that happens to work at the club that stepped out for a smoke break and he turned off the comms to prevent any distractions while they were "refamiliarizing" themselves with each other. Then a scary ass citymaster rolled up and he was too worried about turning on a new comm signal under their surveillance.

For Needle I'll keep her around as an NPC for any hacking needs you guys have, but if there's something specific you guys want her to do, speak up.
ChromeZephyr
Man, we just cannot keep our Matrix support in these Missions, can we? That's 2 for 2. indifferent.gif

I'd like her to at least get the van ready to leave in a hurry.

Ok, I was planning on having her crash jwuigg's commlink to ensure he's not sending anything else out. Then she can return focus to the van and have it ready to head out.

Anything else?
Kiirnodel
Seems fine. Sorry I haven't been posting, but you guys have been doing fine so far. Gardner plays along with the role of big enforcer, evenif he doesn't plan to break anybody's anything.

When White detours toward the bathroom, Gardner will at least try to point out that it looks like we need to get out to the van before anything happens. It sounds like we might have company soon...

A blonde and a way out...?
Slacker
Ok, looks like everybody he moving now. On the way to the front door exit a stunningly beautiful blonde woman bumps into Silas accidentally while the others continue on past. (that enough of a blonde for you?)

Everybody, both inside the club and outside, can go ahead and give me perception checks.

Perception: 3 hits.

Also, looking to see if I can get one of my spirits to do something, but I'm not sure if I can have it materialize in a way that won't draw crap-tons of attention...

I suspect that won't be possible, so I will have to wait until after we aren't worried about a sudden spirit appearing...

So, what's the plan from here? You guys at least get out of the parking lot safe and sound.

My vote is to set up a meet with Moreau ASAP. We're all as ready as we can be, and the quicker we can get it done the less overwhelming force can be brought to bear on us.

Moreau offered 10,500 per runner.. and he was willing to make the transaction at Kobe Terrace Park, "later tonight".

Nazaire offered only 8.000 per runner, but Acson seemed more positively disposed toward him and Atlantis.

I concur that we ought to arrange a hand off with Moreau.
Dak
For the record, I'm handwaiving White's reaction to Eclipse being missing, so he won't be discussing going back to look for him, etc.
Slacker
Currently, where are you guys driving to? I'm assuming you are still trying to stay off the main roads as much as possible?

As a quick note, it almost seems that we be better of on main roads - sticking to back roads means that if someone does come at us, it is easier to get blocked in/cornered.
ChromeZephyr
I agree with the main roads, KE has a vested interest in keeping the collateral damage minimized, especially if it's a competing AAA (or their proxies) doing the shooting. Wherever we're driving to, White should be calling Moreau and setting up that meet.

Well, the park Moreau had mentioned earlier is only a few miles from your current location. Did you want to head that way while White makes the call or would you want to be avoiding that until it's time to meet Moreau?
Mach_Ten
I think, we may have lost the element of surprise. Lets go and scope it first.

Maybe drop me a TW off n route, we can jog and surveill
ChromeZephyr
Agree with the scoping, drop us off as you make the call, Dak.
Dak
Are we keeping our plans secret from Acson, or just doing our planning in front of him? I presume that if he hears that we're turning him over to Moreau instead of Nazaire, that he may give us some grief.
ChromeZephyr
One one hand, that'd be hilarious. A drunken halfwit trying to go aggro on a team full of professional killers and thieves who are already unhappy with him. On the other, the look on his face when Moreau shows up to collect instead of Nazaire will be worth it. Plan over comms, I'll have TW shut his mouth and start texting.

Mr. White furrowed his brow for a moment. It was bothersome to have the feeling that all of his communications were being monitored. He shrugged his shoulders slightly. Not much that he could do about it.

In a hilarious parallel to real life!

Doing a basic data search for a map of the park and surroundings, will work with TW on a tactical appraisal as soon as we can.

meanwhile, checking the LMG and putting on the Lined coat for concealment ready to drop to street level and go from there

Are you planning to take the LMG with you when you go scouting? The park is still in the dowtown area. So it would still have a fairly high level of security patrols by KE.

ChromeZephyr
I'm not thrilled about leaving Mishka and the Smartgun in the truck, either. The fact that we're having a meet Downtown is utterly frickin' retarded, but if we do it quick and quiet maybe we get out of this with only minor scarring. Next Johnson that gives us these kind of parameters is getting the finger, though.

Crazy that shadowrunner's do pricing like it's a commodity. "I need you to extract this guy, I'll pay you X". Doesn't matter whether he's hanging out at the bus station, or if we have to bust him out of prison. Doesn't matter whether we end up having two of our team killed and our transportation shot to shit. Doesn't matter whether we go through a thousand nuyen worth of ammo. It's all still the same price, like buying a pizza.

Imagine if you went to the doctor and said "Hey, I have a cough, here's $100", and treatment cost the same whether it was a headcold or throat cancer.

Eh, I think that's a bit of an oversimplification. Most 'runners are going to sliding scale the payment based on what the expected level of difficulty/resistance/expenditures. Grab the noob from the bus stop? No prob, though if you're an established team that would twig the fuck out of my 'trap' sensors. Grab the CFO before the annual shareholders meeting in NYC? Oof, that'll cost ya. Do it without collateral damage? Chummer, you'd better have a verifiable Z-O account to back this.

Need a bit of an update from Slacker on the layout and we can plan stuff accordingly
Slacker
Sorry for the delay works been busy and I've been considering just how to roll with what happens next. IC post is incoming.

So, you guys left the club, hopped onto I-5 and drove a short couple miles until you got off at the 6th Avenue exit. You dropped off TundraWolf and Silas about a block away from the Kobe Park at 6th and James St. As they head towards the Park on foot Needle wasn't wanting to be a sitting target. So she's been driving around in circles.

The information found online about Kobe Park is that it is fairly small being only a little over 1 acre. The majority of it is a heavily wooded trail approx. 100m long by 40m wide, but there is also a section dedicated to urban gardening (Danny Woo International District Community Garden) that consists of 100 or so plots of 1mX2m raised garden beds.

The trail through the wooded area appears to be a paved walking/biking trail with benches scattered along the way when the two shadowrunners arrive. The paths around the community garden are a bit more convoluted, but for the most part the two can see over the various vegetables and flowers being grown in most plots. Only the ones with mature fruit trees will be a problem.

Speaking of problems.... As the two of them arrived at the Park, a pair of headlights pull out from oncoming traffic and start heading straight at the clown van. Needle takes evasive action getting 2 hits on her roll. Unfortunately the driver of the black Toyota Gopher got 3 hits on his roll.

To resist the 14 rammage damage, Needle gets 5 hits. So it's Handling is now down to -6 instead of the original -3.

The Gopher also rolls to resist half that damage. It manages to get 7 hits and does get more than some scracthed paint.

Both drivers now need to roll resist crashing. Needle pulls off a miracle and gets the 3 hits out of 5 needed successfully maintaining control of the vehicle.
The Gopher driver likewise gets 3 hits and avoids crashing.

Time to roll initiative folks. smile.gif

Also, somebody roll me Needle's Edge of 2 for a luck roll. If you get at least one hit, the van is currently pointed towards the Park that is about 80m straight ahead. If not, she had just been turning a corner away from the Park.
