Public AnnouncementWhat I said to Eyes goes for everyone. The 'probationary period' exists for precisely this reason, that often the characters we make on paper do not translate into how that character is actually being played. We want players to have characters they're truly satisfied with and
want to play for the long haul, and we put in the probationary period for that reason, so you could all get some experience seeing how it works out before putting in a 'final' version.
Now it is important to note that we seriously frown upon (and will probably reject) changes to make the character more 'effective'.
For example, if I went to Sedna and said I wanted to change a skill like Survival (a very logical and useful skill for a field mercenary to have, but not that useful in an urban sprawl) for say, Heavy Weapons or Launch Weapons (complete with Assault Cannon and/or Missile Launchers), because I need something to combat vehicles and drones...just in case we happen to run into any...ahem, yes, just in case...
Clearly this is not in line with a recon oriented field merc and is simply an attempt to make Dragon more 'effective', which we frown upon.
But if there are changes that make sense within the context of the character, then by all means, discuss it with your GM. For myself, I ended up dropping a fixer as a contact because reasonably speaking, it just didn't make sense for Dragon's character to have or need a fixer.
Note that we're not saying changes
can't make characters more effective, sometimes that happens. What we're saying is that the rationale, basis, and motive for the change should be to play the character more appropriately, and to have the stats reflect the person, not the other way around.
If you believe you fall into this category, by all means discuss it with your GM and myself (unless you're one of mine, then you're stuck with just me
) because that's what we're there for.
Ultimately, we want to make LITS a world of people who are also runners, not runners who just happen to be people. I'm very proud of all of your characters, as it is very obvious just reading the posts without even looking at each others' stats that you have all done your best to hold true to this. So if you feel some changes and tweaks are necessary to continue working towards that goal, then by all means, please discuss with us and hopefully we can work something out that we'll all be happy with.
