WinterRat1 - No nothing specific, just figured that since you finally got your head above water, I would shove it right back under again. biggrin.gif

Sedna/WinterRat1 - Ok now the two of you are scaring me. smile.gif

Scrapheap - I will try to post something in the next couple of hours.

Slip- I'll remember that when the bad guys start shooting and it's time for me to pick my targets.

"Well let's see, between the big cybered up dude and the small scrawny looking guy...the small guy must have something REALLY sweet up his sleeve or he wouldn't be here! Shoot him first!" grinbig.gif
Slipshade
WinterRat1 - I was wondering how long it would take for the death threats to come rolling in.

What can I say I like living on the edge. smile.gif

Slip
WinterRat1
Just remember to wear your armor while you're there, so when you get shot you don't fall off it. ork.gif
Slipshade
Heh, I could say I was just trying to roleplay my characters lack of shadow knowledge by forgeting to wear his armor, but that would be a lie. Just a total bonehead mistake on my part. smile.gif

Watch out for those missiles! eek.gif

Slip
WinterRat1
At least you're honest about it. smile.gif

And I must concede the point. touche! frown.gif
Sedna
The small scrawny guy is obviously a mage wink.gif Why else wouldn't he be cybered up the whazzoo?

Can't write it into the post, but at this point she's completely ready for anything to come through the door, from the postman to -- well, you know Alleycat's scale of reference.

And I see the missiles made an impression spin.gif

(Okay -- maybe Alleycat's not ready for a missile.)
Slipshade
Winter - No need to concede, Max never would have been able to survive one missile let alone two. smile.gif

Sedna - so I guess I sould hang out with a bunch of scrawny people, that way I will never be in danger. biggrin.gif

Slip
WinterRat1
Or they might decide to just shoot a missile at you and take you all out.
Sedna
The way of surviving a missile, for anyone, is to not be there. That's a bit easier with an AVM: they lose power quickly over distance.
WinterRat1
Was she ready for that? biggrin.gif

ROFL!!!

I certainly wasn't ready to read that.... eek.gif

Great stories, all around, guys! Kudos to all of you. smile.gif
Sedna
Let's put it this way. It wasn't expected -- but it falls within the realm of possibility.

Finding your own story rather ... interesting ... Morgannah grinbig.gif
Morgannah
"Interesting" isn't quite the word I'd have used, but to each their own, I guess. wink.gif biggrin.gif

I don't think I've ever wanted to hurt my GM quite as much as I did last night, though....
Scrapheap
WinteRat-
PM sent.
Tiredronin
phew.. 5 done.. 1 to go..

Sedna - hi, I am a bit unclear about the odd mechanical echo... is this the presence of another drone?

if it is significant enough to investigate, Daedalus will sent Talos back to check it out, but he definely does not want to lose a potential lead on the enemy team. Icarus will pursue with all due stealth.

btw.. does it seem that this drone will quickly and easily outpace Icarus? if so He'll track it as long as possible and try to get Talos back in time to continue to pursuit.

hope Dragon doesn't mind.. : P

WinterRat1
I found your ongoing storyline quite fascinating Morgannah. The seducer being seduced is always a fun theme to watch. smile.gif

Glad you're back with us btw, when you said they were taking your modem I was afraid you'd be leaving us for yet another extended period.
Sedna
I think I caught all your questions in the post, tiredronin (and few times will that name hold more true than currently!).

You currently have Icarus watching from stealth outside the clinic and Talos pacing Dragon: it will take significant time to recall Talos back to the clinic. So you've got several choices, but some of them you already know won't work out optimally. If you need more information, ask away. I'll answer any questions I can.
Sedna
Actually, I'm suddenly conceiving a great sympathy for (Buffy) Anya.
Morgannah
I was worried as well, WinterRat, but thankfully the cable company did their JOB for once and I was only out of commission for a week or so. smile.gif

Praise Batman!

Willpower test to increase the stat from 4 to 5:
(TN 6, base 40 hours) 1.3.7.11

Body test to recover Light wound: (since I'm rolling anyway)
(TN2, self healing) 1.1.4.5.6(9).6(10).
(TN4, base 24 hours) 1.3.4.5.6( cool.gif.6(9).
grendel
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Ahem. Sorry.

20 hours to train for stat increase. Light wound to heal in six hours.

Carry on. Nothing to see here.

Help? Anyone? "Mommy?"
WinterRat1
You are so dead. I mean...best of luck to you! dead.gif
Sedna
Although I suspect you're referring to grendel's way overdue laugh (and that's far from the first hint he's given you about Caska, Morgannah -- if not -- quite -- IC grinbig.gif) -- you really shouldn't say things like that right after you've posted in my storyline, WinterRat cool.gif
WinterRat1
Ha, oops, you're right Sedna. I was definitely referring to Morgannah and Grendel's WAY overdue laugh. Like I said, it scares me.

Oh, and I actually posted here before I posted in your storyline, just so you know. biggrin.gif
Slipshade
Poor Sedna, looks like you're stuck in WinterRat1's bad acid trip. silly.gif

bandit: fyi, Virgil's headache isn't subsiding. Also, you get only Inleat's voicemail. Feel free to take it however far you want to take it through that evening, both. I'll monitor, and step in to answer questions as they are asked.

(Sorry about all the post-edits! It's just been that kind of day.)
grendel
Sorry, I like to try and wait for just the right moment of dramatic tension. I'll work on my timing for next time.
WinterRat1
Slip- All I can say in my defense is that boy, did she have it coming. She's more than earned this. cool.gif

Grendel- Personally, I thought your timing was pretty darn good. I know I was cracking up. rotfl.gif
banditf50
Noted Sedna. Winterrat and I will take it from here . . .hopefully without any more ambushes. Am I correct in thinking that you have nothing more planned until the next day?
Sedna
Partly depends on what ronin does, but you two should be clear regardless. Go for it.
WinterRat1
Ahem, I should qualify that last statement. She didn't really 'earn' it from anything she did, more like, the circumstances of her life made this inevitable. She is not to blame for it. Sorry Sedna, hope that last one didn't sound too hostile or aggressive towards you or Alleycat. smile.gif
Sedna
Actually, I thought both meanings were appropriate smile.gif

Wow, you guys, just... yeesh. I'm glad my char isn't mixed up in with your plotting; I'd never be able to keep up. Impressive all; I'm gonna need to get a different job so I can be on when you guys are or something.

And yet another regret that I can't ditch and rebuild my charsheet; if only I had played for a month before writing the damn thing it might actually make sense with the character. Ah well, gotta play the hand you're dealt I guess, especially if you're the idiot who dealt it to yourself. smile.gif

Oh, and just to be a pissant, January 6, 2073 is a Friday. nyahnyah.gif

What makes you think you're not? grinbig.gif

But backstory: are you finding it very incompatible with who the character is turning out to be?
Sedna
I'm going to have to adjust a time in Shadowland, to match an earlier guesstimate. The action is still happening, just a bit earlier with the initial question, and she won't have seen the answers yet.

Well, maybe not *very*, but enough that every three posts or so I kinda wish I could change out one or two things on the sheet to align them better with the character I'm seeing in my head. It's one of those things that comes from years of freeform RP; you get used to defining people's abilities on-the-fly.
WinterRat1
Sedna- You're clear to wake up whenever and to do whatever. I'm working on the details of the results of this little escapade. Per our earlier discussions, I need to sort out all the details of your character to fit the results with the role-playing, if that makes sense. I will get it to you ASAP. Otherwise, you're clear for now. No more fuzzy bunnies or strange voices or husbands or kids or random events. At least in the near future. biggrin.gif

Scrapheap and Slipshade- Give me perception rolls please.

Heh, that's cause I'm off tax season and it's a bit slow right now. During tax season was a whole other story...ugh, I'm just glad to be in the flow for my crew now, I know I'm enjoying it a lot more.

This is what the 'probationary period' is for, so you can actually play your character and see if the way it's written and the way it's being played match up. This is by my count the second (or maybe third) time you've mentioned some dissatisfaction with your character, either to me personally or in the OOC thread. If you have serious issues with the way your character is currently, talk to Grendel and me and we'll see if we can't work something out.

Nah, not acid trip; just someone who's watched Family Man once or twice, neh? biggrin.gif

I really liked that movie myself.
WinterRat1
Public Announcement

What I said to Eyes goes for everyone. The 'probationary period' exists for precisely this reason, that often the characters we make on paper do not translate into how that character is actually being played. We want players to have characters they're truly satisfied with and want to play for the long haul, and we put in the probationary period for that reason, so you could all get some experience seeing how it works out before putting in a 'final' version.

Now it is important to note that we seriously frown upon (and will probably reject) changes to make the character more 'effective'.

For example, if I went to Sedna and said I wanted to change a skill like Survival (a very logical and useful skill for a field mercenary to have, but not that useful in an urban sprawl) for say, Heavy Weapons or Launch Weapons (complete with Assault Cannon and/or Missile Launchers), because I need something to combat vehicles and drones...just in case we happen to run into any...ahem, yes, just in case... biggrin.gif

Clearly this is not in line with a recon oriented field merc and is simply an attempt to make Dragon more 'effective', which we frown upon.

But if there are changes that make sense within the context of the character, then by all means, discuss it with your GM. For myself, I ended up dropping a fixer as a contact because reasonably speaking, it just didn't make sense for Dragon's character to have or need a fixer.

Note that we're not saying changes can't make characters more effective, sometimes that happens. What we're saying is that the rationale, basis, and motive for the change should be to play the character more appropriately, and to have the stats reflect the person, not the other way around.

If you believe you fall into this category, by all means discuss it with your GM and myself (unless you're one of mine, then you're stuck with just me grinbig.gif ) because that's what we're there for.

Ultimately, we want to make LITS a world of people who are also runners, not runners who just happen to be people. I'm very proud of all of your characters, as it is very obvious just reading the posts without even looking at each others' stats that you have all done your best to hold true to this. So if you feel some changes and tweaks are necessary to continue working towards that goal, then by all means, please discuss with us and hopefully we can work something out that we'll all be happy with.

Again, it's not really an issue so much as something I need to get used to. My last online RP (another long-running one too; it went five years before we all finally moved on) was more of a collaborative story than an RPG; the only real rule was you couldn't permenantly kill off or severely alter someone else's creations without asking them first.

As I said before, I just have to get used to not being able to define my character on-the-fly. Besides, it makes sense that some of his skills/abilities aren't *exactly* what I envision anyway; it makes him more (meta)human and less a living plot point. And therein lies the difference. smile.gif

And now, to actually post. Well first take brother to school, *then* post. smile.gif
WinterRat1
Two more notes:

1. Changes and tweaks are one thing. A constant stream of changes and tweaks are another, so please be reasonably sure of all the things you are examining before bringing it up so we don't want to strangle you for having to go through the process over and over and over... smile.gif

2. This is not any new policy, btw, it's all in the Guidelines thread, but we figured out a long time ago that you guys don't always go through the Guidelines with a fine toothed comb, and sometimes you miss stuff, so I figured I'd post that to remind you all. wink.gif

OK good, glad that you're cool then. Just wanted to check in and put that out there in case there was some serious and legitimate dissatisfaction with someone and their character that should have been addressed.
Sedna
Noted (re posting freedom/character details), WinterRat. In the background, besides all the rest, I'm doing the usual catch-up work myself, so I'll hold off a bit, match closer with paul. (It's not like she doesn't need the sleep!)

Eyes: in case it's more of a clash than you're willing to let on here, we're serious -- and WinterRat's in a position to understand what this means, it was an in-game discovery that his PC was mercenary First! which shifted perspective on quite a few things.

I think everyone understands the distinction between tweaks to reinforce internal consistency/revised understanding of the PC based on gameplay, and self-discovery/growth. Your PC has depth. Be confident that what you're discovering in the layers is consistent within your own understanding of the character and backstory. If you're at all uneasy about this, talk to WinterRat and grendel. I think we're easy to work with? smile.gif
The_Eyes
Heh, very. Okay, I'll expound a little on what the problem is, and why it might not really be a problem.
