Slip, Scrap- Whoever writes next, the kids will INSIST on coming along to the clinic. If you want to dissuade them, you'll have to roll Etiquette or Negotiation. You could try Intimidation, but that might backfire on you. Otherwise, if you'd prefer to move along and don't mind them coming, no need to roll anything.

Mariah Anne Tenisat is currently a master's student at U-Dub (psychology), she'd gotten her B.Sc. there so she'd been taking classes for several years before she had to drop out after last September. People may very well remember her: she existed.
This is Alleycat's first time on-campus.

Ok, likely not then.
Max and all of his ties are to the College of Magic and Magical Theory.
So if you or Mariah have stayed away from there, then we would not have likely run into each other.
If you or anyone else has a reason to visit that section of U-dub, I have a couple of the people written up, so ask Winter or myself for info if needed.

@grendel (since you always want me to roll to back up Cos' actions for some odd reason):
Okay, so sneaking over, looking the door over for information about the maglock and anything else on closer inspection of the building. If everything looks good so far, we're trying to crack the case and play with the circuit. Numbers below are unmodified and based off of a
really old character sheet I had my mother send to me from the old computer (since the F drive here is still at Best Buy getting fixed and the sheet that was e-mailed last night didn't come through properly). I can reroll if the skill ratings are incorrect.
Stealth 1.2.8.10.13.
Perception 1.1.2.2.3.4.7.8.
Security Countermeasures 1.2.3.4.5.8.
*Electronics B/R 2.4.5.8.11
**Electronics 2.4.5.5.11.16.
* - Task Pool
** - Rerolling Failures (or, I'd like to once I know which rolls are failures and which are not
)
grendel
Jul 20 2005, 08:07 PM
Yeah, I know, I'm just odd like that. I've got Cosmo with an electronics of 5 and an electronics B/R of 4. If you're rolling task pool for the B/R, then you've got one to many dice down for electronics.
The maglocks consist of a keypad and card reader, probably both rated around a 5 or a 6 on the Cross Universal Security Rating. Both of them probably have anti-tamper circuits as well, at least equal to half the overall security rating.
The keypad is relatively easy to defeat, taking only a minute to disassemble the casing and thirty seconds to reset the memory to factory default and key in the test pass. The card reader is going to be a little more difficult. Electronics and Electronics B/R again, please.
Morgannah
Jul 20 2005, 08:26 PM
Edited posts on pages 51 and 65 to reflect the misunderstanding that we were dealing with a palmprint scanner rather than a cardreader. Karma pool might have been allocated differently as a result but them's the breaks, right?
Do your numbers include enhanced articulation, grendel?
Electronics 1.1.4.5.10
Electronics B/R 1.2.5.11
grendel
Jul 20 2005, 08:36 PM
Yeah, at least I'm assuming that's what the number in parentheses behind the skill rating is indicating. You may want to reroll that first electronics test, card readers are difficult to open up with out setting off the alarm.
Morgannah
Jul 20 2005, 08:44 PM
That's what they mean! Provided there's sufficient karma for the reroll, here are the results:
1.5.5.6.6.7.11.

Jul 20 2005, 08:50 PM

Sorry, paul, I've been ultra-slow this week. Trying to get caught up now ... if we don't lose power (storm, again, again, + killer headache, again, again).
A possible point of plotline confusion:
QUOTE |
Coming out into the clearing he calls to his watcher.
The Leopard anthroform appears in front of him once again. Reaching up Blaze strokes the head of his "friend". |
but WinterRat had written earlier (p.60):
QUOTE |
22:30:48 Saturday, January 6, 2063 - Home
Despite his best efforts, a little more than an hour later, the only thing Blaze can say for sure is that his watcher was definitely gone. Although he attempted to discern what it was that had done the deed, it had happened too long ago and the traces were too faint to gather many clues. What he could say was that his watcher wasn't too far from Touristville when it got dusted. |
Also, from this thread (p.56):
QUOTE |
However, you get a feeling, and the knowledge, that the watcher you sent out has been banished/destroyed. You may choose to not sleep as a result of this knowledge, or to sleep anyway. Just let me know what you'll be doing and go ahead and post. - WinterRat
If I get that feeling I'm going to spend 3 hours (Hlaf the possible time) searching the barrens in the astral. I'll go ahead and make an astral perception test now, and post starting the search shortly. - paul |
At least it's easily solvable with another conjuring roll and maybe a backpost
WinterRat1
Jul 25 2005, 04:36 PM
Paul- Sedna is correct, that particular watcher was destroyed, although you are not sure how or by whom. Thanks Sedna, I was trying to track that down this weekend, but I could not locate it, and I didn't just want to say 'uh, your watcher was destroyed, remember?' without a reference.
Ergo, please edit accordingly Paul. Also, give me a perception roll, aura reading applies as a complementary skill.
Also, please do the following:
1. roll 2d6
2. add the results together
3. subtract 1d6 from that total
4. post the total
5. pick a number, 1 or 2
I'll post your reply when I have all that information and we have that watcher confusion cleared up. As noted, another conjuring roll and minor editing can easily handle this situation. Thanks again for the help Sedna!
Slip, Scrap- Regarding security information, the following points will likely be of interest:
1. Knight Errant is contracted for security.
2. Their contract terms include providing for physical (manpower) security, and electronic security.
3. The contract copy you have in the file states that there are always two guards on duty at all times, round the clock.
4. There are no details as to the electronic security.
5. Magical security will be called in on an 'as needed' basis by the onsite security guards, but a fee will be paid each time it is necessary. In other words, no permanent astral security or anything of the type.
6. The contract contains no more details than these, other than contract pricing information, legal liabilities, etc.
Ask me if you have any more specific questions, otherwise, that's pretty much what you can gather reading on the way over.
For the sake of keeping things rolling and working around my lack of ability to post at work (skipping lunch now to post, so I can post while my bosses are out to lunch, in case you all are wondering), Slip, Scrap, I'll just tell you the kids look bored and won't have any questions for you right now, they're too anxious over their first 'shadowrun'.
So either of you can keep it moving without waiting on that information from me.
Sedna- Waiting for the Durin post and I'll reply.

Slip
WinterRat1
Jul 25 2005, 05:31 PM
A seeming contradiction...UNLESS you factor in the universal, unstoppable drive of all security guards in low security areas to sneak out for coffee and donuts.
Thanks for pointing that out though Slip, hopefully this explanation reconciles those two statements.
Assume that they will be there when you get there, and if you go astral, you'll see them in front of a TV at the front desk, muching (what else?) coffee and donuts. The cream of the Knight Errant crop, these guys ain't.
Does that clear it up?

Sentinel, you're clear to write through the rest of that day and night (unless you want to initiate social contact), although the dog will need walking again that evening and again tomorrow morning, and once again Andie seems to be the only available person.
The circulation is fine, although the wards still need strengthening. The shop's still locked up, and will be all day. It's just Andie and Sam and the other guy and the dog in the shop; and the three of them will stay out of Andie's way in the teaching room unless he initiates social contact.

ok, aparently memory and I aren't getting alone too well this week.
[ Spoiler ]
The edit is going to come in the form of summoning a new watcher, so conjuring test, drain test, 2D6-1D6 and perception coming up.
Force 3 watcher onjuring test: 5 4 2, so 2 successes and lasts for 2 hours, perfect.
Drain test (3+2) 5L: 5 2 1 (5) (the parentases are for the extra point of Charisma that I was planning on buying to start at pretty much this point. I've made the rolls and such, but I don't remember whether it was actually active yet or not)
now perception test: 5 4 3 3 2 (15 7 2 for watcher if that matters)
Total = -4 (I don't know what it's for, or even if I can but Karma pooling this may be a good idea for me...)
and I pick 2

grendel
Jul 26 2005, 02:13 PM
You can engage the remaining blue force from your current position. He's 22m away, which makes it long range for the Guardian. Base TN 6, +2 for your partial cover, no visibility modifiers, target is not taking cover. If you're engaging with only one Guardian, smartlink modifiers apply. If you're using both, then smartlink bonus does not apply and you suffer the second weapon modifier.
