Virgil would know that in most cases, Mind Probe is not a pleasant experience for the subject, and sometimes it's actively painful. There are some exceptions, depending on tradition, and especially when reading only surface thoughts. Regardless, her not resisting would help.
WinterRat1
Sedna and Paul- go ahead and fast forward to the meet, unless either of you has something you wants to do before then, in which case just let me know.
Sedna
Sunday karma:

bandit: 1 (+1 GM bonus) = 2
Sentinel: 1
WinterRat: 1 (+1 GM bonus) = 2
Sedna
Fyi -- not a real smartgun system (obviously!), but I figured that, given the whole street-sam popular look, someone has got to be making these. For the rest of the look, think drow.

That should take it close enough to the meet that I won't be holding you up, paul. Out of time -- need anything else, ask -- I'll get it done tomorrow.
banditf50
Moirdryd give me seperate rolls for both ettiqute and perception. Feel free to post approaching the bartender, but don't move too far ahead. . .this place should be fun to flesh out in game smile.gif
grendel
Karma awards for my players:

Shadowrunner13: 1 pt (Feb. 9th - Feb. 15th)
Moirdryd
here we go Banditf50..

Perception grants me 5,3,3,2,1

Ettiqutte delivers a 3,2,1

hmm my dice seem to like my char less than my npc`s

banditf50
Roll for the mindprobe success test:

Force 3: 6 socery dice + 2 totem modifier + 3 spell pool
16, 11, 07, 09, 08, 08, 04, 03, 03, 02, 01

It's a lot of dice but I figure Virgil will need a bunch of success to overcome her loss of conscious memory. Would you like me to roll drain resistance now, or after the spell's completion?

P.S. I figure this will be an exchange of a few posts as we travel though her mind together. I've never played out a mindprobe under these circumstances so this should be quite intriguing.
Sedna
Yes -- please roll the drain now as well. I rather doubt you'll pass out, but it will be useful to know where we're headed. I'll also ask you to do at least one more post before I step in, as the call is answered and you begin to filtre your way into her mind -- initial experiences, predictably, will centre in and around the clinic, from the newest to the oldest (arrival).
banditf50
Mindprobe drain resistance:

Base drain code 2S: 6 willpower + 3 remaining spell pool
09 05 04 03 03 03 02 02 01

Virgil should learn that spell at a higher force in the future wink.gif Looks like the drain will be staged all the way down, barring any serious modifiers that I do not know about.
Sedna
Thanks, bandit. There's also a spellcasting rough proviso that maximum successes generally can't exceed spell force ... I'll be using that one, but it shouldn't limit you at all for this one. No rush on that second post btw -- my five minutes are up, and I can't be back on-line for many hours yet.
banditf50
That is a very good proviso, in fact I hope that we can just state it as a rule. Yet another reason why Virgil has plenty of spell learning to do in the future . . . .whenever the time for that should arise wobble.gif

Sunday Karma Awards

Moirdyrd: 1pt (Feb 14th - Feb 20th)

Cedric: Your karma count will begin this week smile.gif
Moirdryd
Is that priviso to be made a general rule? because there are a few spells it conflicts with.

Eg:

Deflect and Combat Sense

Which work on an every whole 2 suxx sorcery test for 1 dice benefit upto the spell`s force in dice benefit and they pack a heafty drain.

Just checking because either of those spells at say Force 4 drop from being a potential 4 dice benefit to a max 2 dice benefit at Serious drain and if its at Force three the drop is from poss 3 dice to max 1 dice again at Serious drain.
banditf50
I will wait for Sedna an opinion on this, and it may involve an all-GM discussion, but I am inclined to stick follow a stict Force = max # of success ruling. This is one of the reasons why it is so important to work towards higher force spells.

However one opinon doesn't set the standard in LiTS (a very good thing!) We'll see what works out and you'll be the first PC no know wink.gif

P.S. Now Knight is well on his way to getting the thick of things. eek.gif
Moirdryd
For the record, I`m cool with it either way was just pointing out some of the spells it may limit more dramatically than others smile.gif (Yeh i know one of them is on my spell list but its staying because its so intouch with the char concept).
Sedna
It's a very general for-now guideline, not something intended to supercede. We'll get to that discussion probably around the time WinterRat gets out of tax hell and everyone else's workload eases up.

Yay, 10,000 views! *** fireworks ***

Karma and further owed e-mails tomorrow.
WinterRat1
Sedna and Paul- Until you guys start the meeting, I will wait on both of you. Also feel free to write in Dice and/or Tin Star as you see fit, since neither of them will be doing anything significant unless I deem the situation warrants it.
WinterRat1
2 Weeks of Sunday Karma

Paul: 2 +1 quality = 3 total
Sedna: 2 +1 quality +2 GM = 5 total
Sedna
Sunday karma

bandit: 1 (+1 GM bonus) = 2
WinterRat: 1 (+1 GM bonus) = 2
Sedna
Tin Star is established as a habitual latecomer and I have had contact with Digital Heroin this year (if not this month), so I'm very reluctant to touch another player's PC until and unless

(1) the in-story situation absolutely demands it; and
(2) the other player clears it or obviously completely abandons the story.

Neither is the case here yet.

I'll write Dice in at 1140, if that's okay.
WinterRat1
OK then, write Dice in at 1140, Tin Star will probably show up late again, just to warn you. smile.gif . but yes, that's understandable, however he did give me permission to play his character, so I will be doing that just fyi. Sound good to you and Paul? No need to respond; unless you say something I'll assume it's fine and go with it.
SentineloftheMountain
Sedna - Andie will astrally perceive around the store front for any possible sources for the magic storm that took down the wards.

Astral Perception test: 2, 6+1, 2, 3, 6+2, 5, 6+4
Aura Reading test: 5, 5, 3, 2, 5

Andie will then generate a Force 1 astral ward around the store. This takes one hour to do.

Magic test TN2: (6+6+2)14,2,3,3,5,1,1 => 5 successes
Sedna
Noted, both smile.gif
Sedna
Sentinel:

That means two months prepaid at the monthly cost we discussed (February and last) + 2/3 monthly cost for January (while you're overhauling the place), monthly lifestyle due the first of each month starting March 1, utilities included in that cost, the service charge is over and above.
Moirdryd
Okay banditf50, I`m assensing Jackson while I speak to him and during his initial response.

Aura Reading ; 6(10), 2, 2, 1 (which is of no fraggin` use)

Int; 6(11), 6(9), 5, 5, 3

so good for 4 suxx there on the basic type check.

banditf50
Drek. .. I posted right as you did. Thanks for providing the rolls.

banditf50
Ok, I may've jumped the gun by asking for the astral perception roll at the same time as you posted smile.gif Oh well. . .it's good to be on top of things at least.

I will also need you to make an ettiquette roll.
Moirdryd
Sometimes i hate the Specialisations i take in the name of character flavour *grumbles about the clever idea of Seelie court spec*

Etiquette comes up with; 2, 1, 1

yep thought so, my good roles went with the Magical skills....
Sedna
Sentinel:

The delay on that was trying to get them so I could read the embedded words. One square = one metre on each side?

If you have webspace, upload the floorplan files and you or I can link them in-thread. But I'd suggest converting them to jpegs first -- as bitmaps, their sheer size crashed Geocities maximum bandwidth restriction several times.
Moirdryd
Okay banditf50,

accompanying my post to win the Johnson over i get

Ettiquette 4,2,1

Negotiation 5,3,3

Hope something in there works.
grendel
Give me a perception check for Tenmou, please, SR13.
SentineloftheMountain
Sedna: Sorry about that. I resent the images as jpg files to you.

Yes. 1 square = 1 meter on each side.

I also put some more details on the images for you.

I'm not familar with webspace, so you would have to teach me what that is.

Shadowrunner13
Alright, Perception Test (Intelligence = 5)

9, 5, 4, 4, 1

I'm going to get hurt now, aren't I? wink.gif
Sedna
Received them, opened them, much more readable this time (thank you!).

This should actually work out well: Andie has probably close to the same amount of architect-specific knowledge you do, and Solomon close to what I have ... neither of us being architects grinbig.gif So we can work it out in-thread within our respective knowledge.

What I'd like to do is link in those diagrams to the thread, but although I like them *much* better for detail, the bitmaps were huge! Thus for e-mails I'm appreciating you sending both types.

For webspace, do you have a personal webpage? or option to have a personal webpage with your Internet provider?
SentineloftheMountain
Sedna: I just created a webpage at the following web link.

http://www.geocities.com/chubbell_2003/homepage.html

Not sure how much space is available but I should be able to put the floor plan images there.

What do ya think??
Eyeless Blond
Geocities generally has problems with outside linking of images, so it might not work too well.
Sedna
Geocities space is adequate (15 megs; your images will take up ~2.5 of that in bitmap form), and they will allow you to upload images, just not access them directly from a different address. Just as well really: it's bandwidth that's the issue. Each time someone accesses an image, it pulls from the image host's bandwidth. (I think they might also have reduced each user's allowance, maybe around the same time as they revised the watermark.)

Once you upload your images, you can link them into your post using the url of the image, and people can access them by clicking on the link. Just be prepared for the site to be regularly not accessible due to exceeding bandwidth allotment ("check back in an hour").
Eyeless Blond
You might consider converting to a .GIF if the colors are sharp, or a .JPG or PNG if there are lots of gradients. Either way should net you a ~50% or more saving in space.
SentineloftheMountain
Sedna: I emailed you an updated version of the shop floor plans to you and will see about posting them on geocities web host.

Sedna
Basic line diagrams without electrical or other utility markers (this isn't Autocad), we'll be discussing types of doors/door clearance etc. required later, main floor plus partly filled-in mezzanine, main staircase duplicating the original metal staircase heading to what was once an offices area, with the (half filled-in) truck bays outside: so nothing really involving gradients as such, and no colours at all. Currently they're jpgs, but the sheer amount of regular text referencing in tracking individual storylines means that bandwidth remains an issue. Did you have any of the draughts uploaded yet, Sentinel?

[cough -- suddenly occurred to me that if you were to post them on Shadowland, you might get one heck of a lot of useful feedback -- but you also might have some very strong reasons not to do so]

On a side but related note, face-to-face we were playing with the concept of how warehouse floor magic might alter standard designs of warehouses: ie. aisle clearances (for forklifts), battery rooms etc. After all, not every mage is cut out for the high corp, or shadowrun, or entrepreneurial lifestyle: some (just like many of us) just want a basic, well-paid 9-5 job without complications and without involving too much in-job creativity (or sometimes even thinking), and to go home afterwards and relax with a beer in front of the trid. From the business' pov, no matter how well the mage is paid for the luck of the genetic draw (and let's assume that, in nuyen, it does stay in the high five digits, maybe brushing six) ... it's still going to be less than the cost of equipment maintenance and burnout, even without considering greater efficiency of storage and inventory movement.

[/end tangential moment, return to overdue e-mails]

Sunday karma (for once, on Sunday!)

bandit: 1 (+1 GM bonus) = 2

Sunday Karma - On Monday smile.gif

Moirdryd: 1 pt (Feb 20th - Feb 27th)
Sedna
bandit, I know the out-of-spell exchanges have crept ahead of in-spell time. That's okay -- just write the time for where you are at in-spell.
grendel
Karma awards for my players:

Shadowrunner13: 3 (Feb. 16th - Mar. 1st)
Sedna
You don't have a specific KN for it, bandit, but you do have enough in your background that I'll give you this off the various Barrens-specific KNs: shuk foo, or "uncle", in this context refers to the tong leader (not the top gang position) within a gang.

Also, when you decided to pursue the healing, I had you cast your Heal spell, maximum Force, +2 TN (sustained spell); and it's a high TN to begin with (she's below Essence 2); indirectly against the level of damage involved with implanting that kind of cyber. But you feel like there's been some help involved: you've only taken Light drain from the entire thing (although it feels rather worse, to begin with).
SentineloftheMountain
Sedna- Hi. I resent the floor plans for Andie's magic shop and details on Durin's weapon focus and Andie's familar.

Let me know what you think.
WinterRat1
Sedna and Paul- Another two week karma thing this sunday, fyi. Sorry about that, i've been aware of it, just haven't had a chance to go back and examine the posts. frown.gif

Sedna- Waiting on you at the clinic, just to clarify.
Sedna
Sentinel: posted smile.gif

WinterRat: just waiting on bandit. Fyi, re the order of the events in my post you shifted one slightly, which I'd accept within the story context, except that the two of you might find the strict order of events relevant later. So don't edit, but take my version as the "canon" one.
