I'm going to say that Blaze drove around in a haze for at least an hour, enough time for his Stun to have gone away.
Body test (for stun) 11,8,2,1 (at least one, enough to heal in an hour)
conjuring test (TN 3) 9,4,3 (3 sucesses)
Going to pay one Karma to make him last one week, and limit his life span to that.
Drain test (TN 4) 5,4,4 (drained away)
Alright, summoned one permanent, well, somewhat so, watcher.

General Note: Please keep a karma log of all your purchases and changes in your character. I have a running total of how much karma your characters have accumulated, and obviously the original sheets. I am not going to make every little change that you guys make, since that would be like having a bazillion characters.
Rather, periodically I will just 'audit' the characters to make sure we're on the same page, so the karma log will facilitate this transition MUCH smoother. This is especially important for those little 1 pt items, like the permanent watcher or cash-to-karma, so we're not wondering where that 1 or 2 pts went.

Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am around; between graduation from grad school, moving into a new apt, and trying to get adjusted to being in a new state by myself, RL has been extremely hectic. I realize it's me who's holding up the hunt for Melissa, I apologize and will get on it ASAP. Should be in the next day or two. Thanks for your patience!
Paul- What did you want to do while your watcher is out searching? Anything?
Shev- What did you want Avalanche to do?

I'm not dead yet!!
Sorry for the lack of posting as late. Between work, seeeing my girlfriend, and hanging out with other friends I'm actually at my computer a whole lot less than I am during the school year. I'll try to be a bit better, but I also have to share this comp. Sigh....
Anyways, Avalanche will be reprogramming those knowbot searchers that Alleycat gave him to be more efficient and send them out as well. Problem is, not having matrix, I don't know the dice rolls for that. Help?

Sentinel: it's obvious that the dwarf wants something "special"
Most probably that means a weapon focus, as you guessed -- although you haven't actually confirmed that yet with him. He's given you technical details of construction, but he hasn't given you anything as to how to enchant it. Since the thing will be Reach 2, the price you charge could potentially be quite high ... but where you go from here is up to you.
Anyone: is there any way to default
disable signature without actually removing the signature? I added one for the first time before the forums went down, and now it's moved in everywhere! (I've been editing so as to take it out individually, manually, on the last pages.)
grendel
Dec 15 2004, 09:30 PM
As far as I can tell, signature is automatically enabled if you have one, and you can choose not to have it displayed on a per-post basis. The good news is that you can edit any and all of your posts if you so desire and remove it.

Programming requires a Computer (Programming) Test to complete the work. Each programming task has a base time to finish, and the use of a program plan, certain tools and programming environments may modify the test. The inclusion of specified program options may also affect the test.
Except where noted, a programmer cannot write a program with an unmodified rating higher than his Computer (Programming) skill.
If the knowbots given to you by Alleycat are Frames or Agents, the following applies:
A smart frame core's rating may not exceed the programmer's Computer (Programming) skill x 1.5 (round fractions down). An agent's frame core may not exceed the programmer's Computer (Programming) skill.
The base tools required for programming are a computer with active and storage memory which exceed the size of the program being constructed.

Just make new ones ("reprogram" the things) from scratch, Shev. Trust me, it'll be better than anything
Alleycat came up with! (You're also welcome to make all the snide remarks about her programming skill that you want
)
Thanks, grendel (and sigh ... on to the next page of individually removing signatures). Let's say that I hoped for a different answer, but sometimes there isn't one.

Does Andie have any idea how "special" Durin's weapon focus should be forcewise??
I also assume that this weapon will be dwarf sized, right??
Sedna
Dec 18 2004, 04:03 PM
No matter how many ways Andie has tried, Durin just doesn't seem to be giving anything more specific in terms of how "special". Andie's got a good idea he's looking at not your average low-level weapon focus -- maybe even something "huge" -- but beyond that Andie will probably have to take a rather large leap in the dark ... yet the dwarf seems to be stipulating that he wants all the details before committing to anything. If you don't write it into the thread, let me know OOC what level of weapon focus you decide is appropriate.
The diagrams are to scale: suggesting a weapon that's approximately as high as Durin is, and with a double head almost as wide. For him, it will be Reach 2. Andie probably thinks it's a bit big for him, but the dwarf seems to have firm ideas on what he wants that way, and he's carrying far too many weapons he seems to know how to use to make it seem advisable to suggest otherwise.

+1 each to all my players (bandit, Sentinel, WinterRat). Merry Christmas!
SentineloftheMountain
Dec 20 2004, 04:13 PM
Well, if he wants a weapon focus higher than Force 5 (which was the level I was planning on making for him) then there will be at least one, probably two to three, special components required for the enchantment. It will also cost 1-3 million nuyen to make too.
Durin also has not said whether this will be an official weapon focus with permit or one made in secret. This will also affect the cost of the weapon focus.
Sedna
Dec 20 2004, 08:09 PM
Even below Force 5, there's always a chance of special components. (GM's roll, there.) After Force 6, it's absolutely guaranteed.
Andie probably does get the impression that the dwarf's kind of expecting it, but that it's up to
Andie to figure it out. Certainly that could affect the price
Andie offers as a first level of negotiation!
As to the rest,
Andie hasn't asked

Sedna, astral perception roll for Virgil's search: 09 08 05 03 02 02

The profile bug has been
mentioned. Hopefully that means there's a cure on the way, but it might be holiday/exam-delayed.
In my post, I'll assume that's
Ripper or someone in the
Terms, and answer appropriately.
Ripper's got ties to
Hobbes, so she could know that
Anne's currently going by
"Alleycat".
Astral surveillance of the immediate area shows
Virgil nothing that isn't intrinsic to this part of Redmond. If there's a surveillance drone out there, it's got a damn high signature.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that during his talk with Durin Andie will be astrally perceiving and reading Durin's emotional state and aura to gauge his reactions.
Sedna
Dec 21 2004, 05:48 PM
That's kind of a crucial "not mention", Sentinel
so I'm going to have to take the assensing from this point onward. (Perception roll please, with the Aura Reading as the secondary skill, as standard.) Do I understand correctly that
Andie will be assensing him without pause?
SentineloftheMountain
Dec 21 2004, 05:51 PM
yes. Did you want me to make the dice rolls or do you want to do??
Sedna
Dec 21 2004, 07:35 PM
Just for everyone's future reference:
If you're stating that you're actively perceiving/assensing, you can roll your own Perception rolls.
If there's something possible to be spotted but you haven't stated that you're actively looking, I roll them ... without telling you I've rolled them.
Regardless, for any kind of Perception rolls, I won't be telling TNs. (Those tend to be the one great exception to the usual rule around here of open TNs.)
In general, if I say something like " [x] roll, please", this is a request for you to make that roll.
Oh, Sentinel, one more thing? For these few months through the end of December, I've been appreciating your system of condensing more than one part of the conversation at a time, each followed by something like "
Andie pauses to gauge
Durin's reaction." It's been very useful in trying to advance a conversation during a time of limited access and ability for me.
HOWEVER: come the new year, please limit posts involving active conversations with others to just one part at one time? Just say that one part and wait for the response, without going any further. (You don't even have to say that you're waiting for the response: unless you're determined not to let the other person speak, that should be obvious!) After all, that's how normal conversations and negotiations go: flexible two-way all the way, not a one-way interrogation. What someone says just might end up taking the conversation in a new and
unexpected and sometimes incredibly useful direction -- something your current format is making very difficult to happen. Also, if you've been reading what's been going on with other people (another very useful habit to form), you'll notice that sometimes conversations are interrupted by ... other things.
(Besides, I don't want ever to have to resort to the format of
Nov 7 2004, 12:21 PM again!)

@ Winterrat: just a note for the record, Blaze has the perfect time edge so he should know, within seconds, what time it was when the watcher showed up, not angry or anything, just reminding you. Other than that thanks for all the work you've been doing to keep this up and running.

Paul- Blaze does know. That was just to represent his being rousted out of bed for an entertaining mechanic. And thanks for the encouragement.
EDIT: For story purposes, unless someone has a problem with it, Paul I'm going to say that your watcher contacts you and that you leave your apartment at about 0215. Let me know if anyone has a problem with that.

Oops -- so we've all been waiting for each other?
Basic premise with me, always, is that PCs make the major decisions (such as tactics), with NPCs limited to support and/or informational roles. In this particular case I was dropping information and waiting for one of you two to make a decision based on what was now known:
- "I had a gun"
Sybersnake is no longer armed.
- "I can replay it for you"
You've all now heard what Tiffany received on that phone call, which was delivered in her own voice. Obviously she's not happy about that. There's also details of personality and experience there, but make of those what you will.
- Frag, but I wish the Redmond Barrens were better mapped.
You're not working with complete area information. Beyond a couple of blocks away, the information rapidly loses accuracy.
- ... indicate a call coming through ...
Susan has information and/or questions for you. "Sunrise" means there's no rush to call her back, or more specifically, that there's no danger or expectation of danger on her end. "Noon" would mean much the same, but with the added question of "I might be missing something obvious". Anything between noon and the next sunrise would usually indicate at least some degree of suspicion / urgency, and (with the exception of sunset) would commonly be given as actual times. Anything during the night would indicate an active combat situation.
There's other bits of information as well, but these are the ones I chose to summarise. What
Dragon and
Virgil choose to do next is entirely up to them.

Apologies, Sentinel: I had missed your earlier post. (Now to see if those forum bugs have shaken themselves out.) [Edit: apparently not.]
Also -- catch Alleycat up quickly, WinterRat? I'm clear for posting for a couple of hours today and a bit longer tomorrow. I'll join in with paul as soon as you clear me up to the link-up point, but I need to know (a) what the quick results of her light questioning were; and (b) whether I can get a tandem ride from the gang member and/or back-up.
(This might have been another case where you were waiting for me, and I for you. If you're okay with my just writing it out and bringing in this gang member, just let me know?)
-- I'm also going to have to figure out how I can figure out to say in post that Alleycat thinks nothing of the kind about Blaze, just haven't had the opportunity yet.
