Understood, paul.
Is it sufficient, WinterRat, or will I be forced to stamp on his instep with my heel? And if no meeting materialises in that amount of time (and if you're okay with it, paul), can you write us that far forward? Of course we're both still looking for any trace of the signatures we spotted

I'm sorry -- yesterday ended up being webbing catch-up day. I'll try to get that one post properly edited today. Fortunately it's not immediately in play.
You know, I'd think about giving up and just calling it "Monday karma" ... but then we'd probably start giving it out on Tuesdays.

Did the elf assense as moderately or more cybered, WinterRat? There is a slight difference in movement between wired/bio/physad: was any of that noticeable? For that matter, anyone else who "doesn't fit" in and around the dancefloor and/or tables?
Oh, and the card's getting put away in a side pocket inside the purse, so as to preserve fingerprints.
WinterRat1
Jan 26 2005, 10:11 PM
Sedna- Many of the crowd doesn't 'fit in' with the party sect. It's rather odd, but there's a disproportionally large amount of 'unusual' characters in here. And no, he does not assense as having moderate or more cyber. And he does not assense as magical to you either.

That last, we've all got a possible explanation for
I've fast-forwarded a bit -- hope that's okay with both of you? If not, I'll edit. paul,
Alleycat's not responding outside "Alianna" for the foreseeable future. If
Blaze is confused or frustrated by this, she'll show him the card, with a sharp shake of her head.
paul_HArkonen
Jan 27 2005, 11:14 PM
wait, just for clarification, Alleycat is only going to respond with a normal response if Blaze calls her Alianna for a while, in case the card is bugged I presume, ok, got it. Just curious, how far did you fast forward us, to the exit, or just into the backroom/stage?
Sedna
Jan 28 2005, 01:51 AM
At least until after the groupie-ism, unless you really wanted to see
Alianna fawning over the band leader. Beyond that, take it as you see fit
WinterRat: I'm scanning in the front and back of the card (straight number recognition). Flushing a toilet is almost cliché, and maybe about as effective ... but is there anything environmental and/or quick
Alleycat can think of that might:
1) temp-disrupt a listening device enough to allow talk,
2) confuse a homing beacon?
IN (partial default electronics): 11, 8, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 2
Security procedures: 1, 1 (okay, for sure I've never heard of anything like that in that context; at least it's only a complementary skill ...?)
(Hmm ... needing a missing KN skill here, but don't know how it should be worded: "environmental improvisation" maybe? With your approval, about to spend karma to open it.)
And now to e-mail

It's pretty loud in the club. If they're relying on that card (assuming they, whoever 'they' are are actually using said card...) then it would be pretty dicey for them to assume they'd hear clearly. And you find nothing electronical about the card. And you can't think of anything that would impair a homing beacon.

I figured that I'd post this hear so that Sedna can correct me if need be. Winterrat, in your last post you stated that both
Virgil and
Tiffany are in exam #2, but it should be only
Virgil there because
Tiffany went off to tape the girl we just brought to the clinic.
Please set me straight if I have goofed
Sedna
Jan 28 2005, 03:56 AM
Hey, it's only unfounded paranoia if you don't have Enemies
bandit, you're right,
Tiffany's gone taping; but the way it's worded, it could be that only half the question was answered. And in the exam room itself,
Dragon only found
Virgil and a very tired
Galina, not
Tiffany.
WinterRat1
Jan 28 2005, 01:38 PM
I didn't screw it up guys. I knew Tiffany went somewhere else, but the guy Dragon talked to didn't. Just a bit of role-playing there of some confusion, but Dragon doesn't really care, he's looking for Virgil anyway. Sorry for the mixup, it's my bad.

Two questions for Winterrat:
First, do you want me to make the drain test for that spell?
Second, what time was the meet supposed to be, and would you like us to post it in the Salvation thread?
WinterRat1
Feb 3 2005, 04:35 AM
To my players: karma tomorrow, last two days had to review some characters, sorry.
(behind...)
Paul, your questions.
1. I'm assuming you threw a very low force spell (like 1 or 2) since it was more of a 'for effect' spell than a 'to accomplish something spell' in which case you could easily blow all your spell pool and willpower on a TN of 2 and get no drain...so don't waste your time, unless it was a high powered spell.
2. Did you really just throw a fireball into the air in a random direction?
3. Which particular meet are you referring to? The meet with the rest of the Salvation crew? If that's the one, it's whenever you all set it for, I didn't really have a hand in (nor do I particularly care) what time it is, so whatever you feel is approrpiate, although I'd discuss it with Sedna, as the only other currently active Salvation player.
4. Yes, post the meet in the Salvation thread please.
paul_HArkonen
Feb 3 2005, 08:10 PM
in order,
1. ok
2. yes, although more of a shooting is straight into the air than in a random direction, to pretty much anyone watching it would be like seeing a firework going off without as much sound. Blaze lives in a low area, C at the top, it's not something that's going to become a major scene, even where I live, (B for Shadowrun equvilent) a firework going off will cause a few raised heads, but no real "investigation".
long story short, yes, yes He did just throw a Fireball up into the air.
3. the Salvation one, I know we had already set a time, now I just have to find what time it was.
4. and coming full circle, ok.

Sedna,
In regards to your previous instructions not to rush through the clinic, will you be posting the lead-in for Virgil and Dragon interviewing the woman we brought in earlier, or should we?
Oh, and just for communication's sake, I'll let you make your pitch to Hobbes regarding the purse and everything in it, since she doesn't know about it yet, it would be difficult for her to bring it up.

WinterRat's linked everything into the first post of the LitS IC thread (and all the OOC threads into the LitS OOC thread), so finding anything is easy.

"her" refers to Mara.
Btw what's our standard color coding? I'd thought yellow referred only to transducer telephone calls but that might have been the context of its introduction, but now it's referring to all calls? I've been using Courier for Matrix/PMs/answering machines?
WinterRat1
Feb 11 2005, 07:37 AM
Good question actually, because I only used yellow because it was easy to read. I was using it for 'mental thought/telepathy' type communications (which using a transducer radio basically is). But since you bring it up, any suggestions for various situations like this which may arise?
Oh, and feel free to cut to the meet with
Blaze at any time. You can't really force dealing with the voice, so you may as well go about life...with a MUCH larger dose of paranoia, of course.

Sedna - Would Andie have known what force strength the wards were for the shop and the immediate work area??
Also, are there any other provisions in this "rental agreement" that I need to be aware of??
Is the mana surge still occurring in the immediate area of the shop or is it over??
Thanks.

Feb 12 2005, 03:34 PM
You're just getting the last ripples and "echo effect" of whatever passed through last night, although even this is enough to make a circulation cranky. Of course, there's nothing guaranteeing that something else of the sort might not pass through at any time: prediction of these things is less certain than weather forecasts.
Unless
Andie was cutting corners (something he was usually caught at and made to do
right -- "mind like a steel trap"
), the wards were usually as strong as was possible for the person making them. Sometimes there just wasn't the time at one point, and then the temporary wards were only as strong as time then allowed, to be reinforced with stronger ones as soon as possible.
There isn't anything
official saying that wards have to be maintained separately around the workshop area. After all, you two don't have a written contract, just a verbal request and agreement.
However,
Sara always has maintained such doubled wards in the past, has always simply expected
Andie to do it whenever she asked before; and has made it clear that she expected
Andie to do the same while he was still using her facilities. She would have been surprised had he seriously objected: she sees it as a common sense thing and ultimately in his own self-interest. It wouldn't even have been a big issue if
Andie had followed up at all, within the limits of what was possible at the time.
Other common sense things which wouldn't have been explicitly stated would be that
Andie doesn't disturb anything else in the room, that he keep an eye out for the shop in case
Sara has to step away for a few minutes (although apparently she's made different arrangements when there's an extended absence), that he put out fires or fix plumbing where he spots something that could endanger the shop,
etc etc.
Short form: she's probably assuming that as her former student and current sponsored would-be business owner,
Andie has the least bit of self-interest-based loyalty toward her, and consequently toward her facilities / the shop.
