Hey all, sorry I seem to be under the weather at the moment with a small fever and some unfortunate other side effects so I'm not really in the mood to finish up what I started earlier today. I'll get something done in the next day or two, just wanted to let ya know I'm not forgetting just...not well at the moment. later.

Since this game is so time sensitive, I'd like to get a "I'm ready" from the players to kick off the IC thread. I'm aiming to start by Friday -ish. I'm also hoping for some characters posted on the reserve list. I know you might be discouraged if your name is further down, but if you have a character posted and others don't, that moves you up the list

Whew feelin' a lot better today updated sheet with 50 questions that I answered which I found on somebody's sheet and kind of liked.

Red-ROM: As for the enemy I've all along considered it to be less one single runner or person dogging his steps but the employer he flipped bitch on and took off with his pay and the loot that he was paid to grab. I'm thinking something along the lines of a spoiled aging collector in the UK who is using his resources to track down Hans and get his goods back more than anything and revenge taken, but he won't necessarily know WHO exactly this person is and they won't act directly, more in the vein of getting people paid to track him down, then hiring a private dick to take care of this nasty business, I also kind of thought of this as starting with less of a constant presence dogging his steps and building in the background until the day he knows is coming when, oh who's that holding a gun to my head when I walked through the door of my home? Yeah I know why you're here. I realize this is a bit weak so let me know how you want me to move on that, like reduce the enemy rating to show that it is a less certain threat at all times, I'm honestly starting to feel like its more of a device for the background of the character than anything else so I'm really not averse to severely reducing the rating of the enemy or just editing Hans to remove it and keep the idea as a plot device. I'm Still feeling a little crappy so my mind's not spinning up too well this morning, let me know your thoughts and I'll work something out accordingly. Thanks!

It looks like you took Enemy at 15? is that right? this guy sounds like a connection 6, incidence 1 type of enemy, which is 7 points. His connection covering his resources that he devotes to getting back at you.
Another way to go, is a group enemy. either a merc or runner group the old man hired to track you down. this way could definitely get to 15 points, but I imagine they would have a higher incidence rating(maybe not, If they were a group of PI's or something)
you could also have multiple buyers(aka enemies) using their various connections to come after you. This way they could all be incidence 1/ connection 4-6, and you'll hit 15 points

Hope you're feeling better. other than this, are you ready to start?

I would like to try my hand at this, if you still have room on the main or reserve list. I've never done a PbP game before, so it should be an enlightening experience.

Are you all right with a combat-oriented free spirit PC? If not, I can probably tone down a nosferatu mage that I have as an NPC in one of my campaigns.

Hey, if you're still taking reserves, I'd like to join. As you'll see below, I'm kind of a fan of unusual builds. I just get board at tables with the standard mage-face/streetsam/adept/hacker-rigger. So I've been doing thinking about this enemies thing and I really like the idea of a PI firm being contracted to track down Hans but I'm not sure exactly how to write that up into a cohesive representation of Incidence/Connection because this is something I haven't really played with before so a little guidance from anybody here would be much appreciated!

Is there a special waiver for this game which states "By participating in the 'Post or Die' game, I hereby give my permission for fellow players to PM me like crazy if I'm slacking and need to post to move the game along."

Because there should be. spin.gif
Red-ROM
I know I've sent some PM's already nyahnyah.gif

Anyway, I'm gonna work on the IC thread right now!!
Red-ROM
cool, we're off and running!

I'm counting the first post as the "second to last" for purposes of the countdown. Thats probably obvious, but I thought I'd clarify

In game:

everyone is given coordinates of a spot in the Puget Sound, the name of a boat, "el Viajero", a time, 11:00pm, and a note that radio signals will be jammed for the meet.
Saint Sithney
Yo, ROM. Do you want rolls here or in the IC thread?

Also, what would you say is a reasonable Interval for vehicle mods? Specifically, I want to remove the Rigger Cocoon from the Rover and strap it to the bottom of the GTS Tower, using Juryrigging if necessary.

The suggested interval for mods from page 129 of Arsenal is 6 hours for vehicles, so I don't think there'll be too much difficulty getting it done in time. Maybe I could get a time bonus for having a shop when it it needs is a kit? Dunno.

Searching the Matrix for free/stolen AR plans for the Tower modification: Call it Obscure for -2 DP and Actively Erased for a Threshold of 24.
1 minute Intervals.
DP 4 skill + 6 Browse + 3 Nanites +2 Hotsim -2 Obscure= 13 dice
[ Spoiler ]

I, er, forgot to subtract the 2 dice before rolling, so I just took two off the end. Should have had Agent Monty helping with teamwork, (but generally I want Monty running a Redirect Trace action 24/7 Unless I specifically task him to do something else.)Paydata in 6 minutes. 8 with decreasing DP.

Rolling to take the Cocoon out of the Rover. Threshold 6/2 =3. DP = 1 skill + 8 logic + 3 Nanites + 1 Superior tools + 1 Superior conditions = 14 dice. Rushing the job.
[ Spoiler ]

So, first roll's a winner. It takes 3 hours.

Slapping a seat on the Zeppelin. Same DP but +2 for the AR plans. Threshold of 6 straight up. Rushing the job.
[ Spoiler ]

Takes 6-9 hours to accomplish.

Can we assume that the Kulls are already Juryrigged to activate grenades as they're dropped from the cargo mounts? If no, I might just need to send Danny to the store to pick up some Longhaul.

In the mean time, Demolitions! Juryrigging the Manservent-3 with a dirty interface to set off 8 HE grenades stuffed inside his chassis if he should detect an intruder trying to hack through his Firewall, or if the natives get hostile.

Do you want to handle it as a straight up Hardware problem for rigging the electronics to make it happen, rather than the quick and dirty Demo + agility (8, 1 complex action) extended test for setting a tripline from the grenade entry?

Final most relevant question, is the boat/meeting in the middle of the sound, or on the dock?
Red-ROM
@ ellipsis: Heres a rough take on a PI group Enemy;
Assurance International-Incidence 1(operate in different circles)/ connection 2(+12)(+2 20-99 members/+6 Global influence/+2 some magical talents/+2 broad reaching matrix resources) This is a corporate style private investigator firm that specializes in international cases. They are a small operation, but they cater to high end clients and have the advantage of a smaller case load to give their customer more attention than their larger competitors. They Also manage to have a solid magical and matrix savy staff to handle all types of problems.

@ Saint: I'm being as lenient as possible here. first, putting a rigger cocoon on a motorcycle sized "lighter than air" drone is kind of ridiculous, but alas, not outright against RAW. Second, plans to do so should not exist, especially AR instructions for free. But I'll give you that too at the threshold of 24. Third however, is the fact that you glitched twice: I rolled 2D6=1d6 → [4] = (4)
1d6 → [6] = (6)
, so it looks like, after 3 hours, you squeaked out one hit, and after 6, you had -3 and failed to install it. At this point you can start over, I'm still subtracting 3 hits, so another 6 hours. I haven't even charged you for any materials here(the rules are a little fuzzy here, it's the price of the mod, but it doesn't address something you already own, I imagine you would require some additional parts to attach it to a completely different chassis). so you did it in 12, and don't expect the handling to be any good.
The Kull physically just drops things, but I imagine you could use grenades with wireless links that the drone pilot could activate. I guess you could also tie strings to the pins.
Loading the manservant with grenades is a build/repair to hide them in his chassis(probably 10 - 20 minutes), or just duct tape them on. rigging them to explode if tampered with is demolitions. having them explode for the other reasons is left to the Pilot/agent/rigger. again, use wireless controlled grenades. of course, wireless grenades have a nasty downside if someone sniffs them out, if you want the drone to have a manual "boom button" it wouldn't take long.
I did mention the Jamming for privacy on this boat right?
@ all: the boat is in the middle of the Sound, and I'd like dice rolls to be done OOC with invisible castle
Saint Sithney
I interpret it that the drone portion of the GTS Tower is motorcycle sized, but the blimp potion of it is considerably larger. If I could switch out the helium for hydrogen, I could get 2x the lift. facelick.gif

The idea was to send the robot in with an introductory message, and an offer of assistance if they will allow it to record audio of the proceedings and give it a comcode for further communications during the job. If they insist to speak face to face the bot will signal Ozzy who will cruise down on the blimp chariot. If they try to manhandle the robot or get improper with it, it will blow the grenades stuffed up its skirt.

I don't want to keep the Cocoon on the blimp so much as use it for the inevitable grand entrance, so if you indulge me a little bit, I promise not to abuse it.

If you think it's too much, I'll dial it back. smile.gif

As for the AR plans thing, I'll generally go crazy with dice rolls, thinking of as high as I can get a pool, since with the castle roller, you can just ignore the last however many dice on a test like this.

there is a picture of the Tower in the book, and it doesn't look like that is the case. I suppose it's just another interpretation.
The Robot thing is your schtick, I get it. I'm letting the Tower thing fly(no punn intended). The manservant is fine 99.9% of the time, but, in this situation, I think it could look bad on your part. especially if they detect the explosives.
But, this is Pink mohawk, and thats the way it goes. Plus, if someone fails to post, its good to have explosives around smile.gif
as far as the dicepools and all, I agree, invisible castle shows you the individual dice, and I can just shave off the ones that don't count, it also allows me to apply negative modifiers without making you wait to roll.

I think it helps to talk about it OOC. Maybe this is old news for some of you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

That's about exactly what I was thinking of thanks a lot i've kind of been stressing on this because I didn't want to just foolishly post up something that was completely out of order! If I read this correctly it's really like 24pts though? If it's cool I'll use this as a template and edit it to my character's enemy group when I hear back from you.

its exactly 15 BP's. you add it up like you build contacts. 1 BP for incidents(which replaces loyalty), 14 bp for connectivity.

It would look like this 1/2(+12)= 15

I think you added the "+12" and all the stuff that followed, but all that was just the breakdown of the "+12"
Red-ROM
hmm, due to a quirk in the math, we all have to post pretty quick out the gate to stay alive. your 1st post doesn't buy you any time. I guess you never have more than 6 days, and if you wait till the 6th day, you only buy yourself 1 more day

edit: you could post twice in the same day, and then have 7 days, I think I've made this kind of complicated. But hey, if it was easy, nobody would die!
pbangarth

My apologies for the delay in posting. Life's been rather chaotic lately.

I have one question before posting my nosferatu. If he has the Erased quality as well as Paranoia, would you think that would offer enough Matrix protection for him not to have to change addresses every couple of months?
Martin_DeVries_Institute
Heka will be summoning a water spirit after dark/before the meet. He'll also be high on Red Mescaline at the time which grants an additional Charisma and an additional Willpower (so plus 2 to his drain roll).

Summoning Roll for Force 3 Water Spirit:
[2,2,6,3,4,5] = (2)

Spirit's Opposing Roll:
[3,6,3] = (1)
1 net success = 1 service.

Drain Roll:
[5,2,6,1,2,5,4,3,2,4,4] = (3)
No drain taken.
Red-ROM
@Ellipsis: Wigs and costumes you can find, no sweat. Prosthetics and Latex, roll negotiations + charisma(8,1day) extended test. 500 nuyen. or call a contact. You don't have a SIN, so legal doesn't always make it easy.

@DrZ: about 100 nuyen. roll negotiations + charisma(6, 12 hours) or use a contact.

@Sephiroth: paranoia is all about your character believing he's being watched or hunted, weather anyone can actually find him is irrelevant. so moving is still necessary.

@Martin_D: let me know what time you are taking the red mesc. I've slacked on time and date I realize, so lets say its September and the sun goes down at 8 (Its been a while since I lived in Olympia, but I think thats about right)

Yeah, 8 PM would be about right for September around here. Heka will probably be taking the mesc around lunchtime--say 3 PM or so--so he'd still be dosed at the time of summoning (around 9 PM probably) and the meet.
Majhra
Not sure of timings - but I figure about 40 mins prior to the meet is when Otto goes for a spacewalk. (here)

A simple look around the general area of the meet - No closer than 10m if there is actually something there. In case it's needed: Perception + int: 8d6.hits(5)=3
Saint Sithney
Ozzy also needs to rent a boat prior to the meet. I'll probably go through Mission Control.

As to the Longhaul. It's got no restrictions and null availability. Should I just assume book prices? Gonna get 2 tabs.

Also, recon of the nearby docks is needed. What altitude does a drone have to reach before it needs to worry about Air-traffic? I know sensors have a -3 to detect drones or electric-powered vehicles (-6 for microdrones) but I don't plan on going over NOE levels, like below 20 meters.
Ellipsis
So I put up another post covering some searching for some tricks to help Hans take the appearance of a woman at the meet, I put a couple rolls in spoilers in the post and it should cover time until just before the meet. I'm still pretty new the PbP so critiques of what else to do and how to go about roll posting etc are much appreciated.
Saint Sithney
Oh man, I just thought of something more awesome than renting a boat. A Dry Suit is unrestricted, but still has an Availability of 6. Might be too short notice for a piece of gear worth 1000¥ and I'll likely need a full helmet which is Avail 8 and another 800¥. Lots of cost and all, but since it's unrestricted I could feasibly buy it legitimately on demand in an online transaction. It would still be nifty to have, and better than trying to waterproof a robot with caulk..

It would still be nifty to have, and better than trying to waterproof a robot with caulk..

why buy, when you can (likely) rent? There will be at least a few scuba stores in the city where you could do so. Not to mention makes for a nice cliffhanger if you don't post for a few days. smile.gif

@DrZ: about 100 nuyen. roll negotiations + charisma(6, 12 hours) or use a contact.

That's why I know Lenny- Anything I need, Lenny Getz! He's a connection Rating 4 Fixer/Fence. It's a fairly common item, so I can't imagine it will be too tough for him to track down.

Darn. I suppose he’ll just have to have an inherently slightly-paranoid personality then. Now that I think on it, I may not be skilled enough to roleplay full blown paranoia. So this will have to do. Let me know if there's anything you want me to change.

hey guys, I'll try to post later today, renting boats shouldn't be a problem, 100 for tiny craft, 200 for speedboat or larger (yachts are trickier and more expensive)

I'll post some more tonight

@lefty: you got 3 days to post twice!
Ellipsis
Eep so I'm guessing that I misread the meet because everyone else is renting a boat or something I take it isn't going to be a boat in dock? If that's the case I'm sorry for being dense I'll post to reflect that info...
Red-ROM
ok, lets see,

@Saint: the long haul is book price, no worries. The lowest flight path is helicopters, and they usually maintain 500 feet or 17m, roughly. there still may be drone traffic, but it shouldn't be a big deal. the dry suit that fits a robot might be tricky to get, but maybe doable. You don't want the robot to swim there do you?

@Ellipsis: sorry if I wasn't clear, the boats out to sea. or floating around in the sound anyway.
Ellipsis
No prob, I should have red it more carefully you did say in the pugeot sound after all not on smile.gif . So I guess I'll have to be arranging for a little boat myself.

This might involve more IC posting for that day then. Like scoping out the docks a bit and doing some recon on where could be broken into and what boats may not be being watched too thoroughly. And I take it just post rolls for anything in here not in the IC post then yeah?
