Oh, I doubt it'll be that bad for them at all. They're in an armored humvee. They'll probably stop, scatter to the alleyways and I'll be left nothing but to shoot their car to uselessness and leave them stranded in Redmond on foot.

Actually, now that I think on it a little, I rather they went to pick up their friends from the downed helicopter. Then I'll bring the Kull in and make some headlines.
Notsoevildm
Is it worth trying to take one or more alive to find out who they are and why they are after the trucks?

@ saint and Seph: I just updated the deathclock, and you guys are at 0 !!

How's a fella get on the waiting list? I've got a dwarven face/generalist I'd like to submit for your consideration...I'll post her "resume" shortly.

Welcome aboard! I took a cursory glance, and things look ok. I would like a 20 questions filled out if you don't mind. I'll get you on the list soon.

Point me in the direction of the 20 questions? I've seen references throughout this thread to 50 questions, but didn't want to misstep.
Red-ROM
@ J Packer: you an cut and paste the questions from someone else's post, or look In runner's companion p. 18
20 is fine, 50 is great. point is, it's good to know about your character because it helps you decide how to respond to different circumstances, and it adds little flourishes to your post you might not come up with otherwise

Oh, I'm keen to do it - I just wanted to make sure I did it right. smile.gif

I'll update the post with the character sheet when I'm done.

Wow. Smart, charismatic, named "Amber".... and short. Professor could be interested.

I missed that the Professor was a dwarf, too. Eh, a 50% dwarf team could be interesting... smile.gif

Oh, and 50 questions posted in the original character sheet/bio posting.
Sephiroth
I am aware that that only bought me an extra day on the deathclock. I will have a lot more time to post tomorrow.

Differently interesting?

Figured I should check in with Lady Silvereyes to see if ROM wants to try and work Ms. Frost into the mix now.
pbangarth
I dunno. Every time we get close to one of them, we start dropping like flies.
Red-ROM
We shall see. Seph has been on the edge a few times, but he said he'd post. It is nice to have an active player on the reserve list.

@ Seph: If you die, you can always make a new character and get on the reserves. I keep saying it, but nobody has done it yet

If I die and someone takes this over, I'd make a character in a heartbeat.

edit:
@ Seph (or anyone who wants to weigh in): does this latest request count as your 3rd service?
Red-ROM
@ Saint: exactly what explosives do you have loaded on the kull?

20 HE grenades in two separate drop compartments slaved to the Kull.

I imagine the nades would just use burst-fire rules for damage?
Red-ROM
are you kidding!? I'm going to use the scatter diagram for each individual grenade! it will be like playing Battletech with a madcat full of LRM's !

(who's getting these refrences?)

Last time I faced a Madcat, I was in a Phoenix, and had built up so much heat from a single nova attack that even landing in water up to my neck wasn't sufficient to keep me from having to punch out of the mech and run for the hills.

I will if that happens, but hopefully it won't come to that. My next character concept for a naga isn't nearly as fleshed out as Jovan is, and I'd like to see him grow a little before he falls.

I asked that under the assumption that just asking the spirit if it sees astral forms and to describe the survivors of the crash wouldn't count as a service, in the same manner as just asking it to hand me a gun wouldn't really be a service, for example. What aren't you counting as services?
Sephiroth

Quick takeoff roll. 15d6.hits(5) → [2,2,2,1,3,1,2,6,1,6,3,2,5,6,3] = (4)
Saint Sithney
Here's a roll for the blimp's sensor to try and keep an eye on the SUV, based on its knowledge of where the SUV was and where it was likely headed.

Sensor 6 +3 clearsight = 9d6.hits(5) → [6,3,6,6,1,5,2,5,3] = (5)
Looking good so far.
Infiltration to avoid any opposing sensors (trying to keep a little over 1 km range from target.)
Pilot 3 +3 soft = 6d6.hits(5) → [1,6,1,3,6,4] = (2)
So, that's the norm.

Alright.
ROM, does the Tower have enough time to engage the SUV before it reaches the crash site? The rifle on it does have a range out to 1,650m...

The Kull should take a bit over 3 minutes to reach the crash site at top speed.
Also, I didn't think I was spending a point of Edge earlier to guess the signal location on the roof. I mean, it wasn't a Longshot test or anything since I would have had other dice to throw for any regular test. I was just rolling to see how lucky I was feeling since there didn't seem to be any action going on.
Red-ROM
@ saint: you can shoot the SUV, as for the edge, you specifically spent a point of edge. There were no rules that narrowed the signal to a single target in a building on a crowded roof. Edge will refresh in another 4 hours IC time.
Saint Sithney
Can I guess the SUV's relative position and communicate the information as well? Just trying to get an idea of the territory before I fire. Also, I was thinking about hitting the driver over hitting the car. That'd be a blindfire shot, right? Even if it's not through the roof, the windows have to be blacked out.
Saint Sithney
You could always drop the non-combatants off with one of those garbage links and use that to help find them later.

Unless you think there's a 3rd group on route and observing you. I know pretty factually that there's nothing in the air watching you.
pbangarth
I'm not convinced we've seen the whole pursuit. If there are 12 of them, we probably haven't found all 12.

@ seph:
Spirit Services: A service is a single continuous task the summoner demands or requests(sr4a 186)
it's kind of vague. I imagine it's up to the spirit's interpretation. having him do reconnaissance sounds like a service to me. do you still want to do it?

@ saint: The van is heading east down a single lane road in a broke down city. there are a few other cars and pedestrians.At the van's current speed, it should reach the chopper in 5 minutes
Sephiroth
Not if the service will be used up right after that. If it's going to use a service to do recon, I'd prefer if it did it continuously, e.g. until sunrise if necessary, like you quoted.

sure, he could watch the guy till dawn, but any change in request constitutes a new service. Spirits are very powerful. The only real limit on them is the number of services. THe bigger the spirit the fewr services you get(in theory). this one just downed a helicopter. I'd say you got your money's worth. If you don't want to waste the air elemental, summon a watcher (now that we're out of glow city)
Red-ROM
hmm. all quiet on the western front today.

@ Saint: Are you shooting?

@ Saint: Are you shooting?

Seems like everyone's holding their breath but, no. Sorry guys. I'll just wait the 5 minutes to bomb them all at once. If they all die, so be it. Way I figure, if they can take on the Stilettos and survive a helicopter crash, then they're hard enough to take a bunch of low P blasts. If anyone dies, it'll likely be from stun overflow.

So, for now, I'll just position the Tower about 1.2km from the parking lot where the chopper crashed in order to engage any runners after the drop, if there's more than one.
Sephiroth
Ah, I thought there was still a point or two of background count present. Ok.

Conjuring 2 + Magic 7 + Power Focus 4 = 13d6 = 2 hits
13d6 = 7 hits
13d6 = another 7 hits
13d6 = 3 hits

Limiting all but one of them to a 1 hour lifespan, with the fourth having 2 hours.

Drain rolls:
Logic 6 + Willpower 3 = 9d6 = 5 hits
9d6 = 1 hit
9d6 = 2 hits
9d6 = 5 hits

No drain taken from watcher summoning. cyber.gif

@Red-ROM: What are the light conditions outside right now, and at what time of night will it be darkest? I'd like to have Jovan venture out and get into his element soon, after the danger of discovery by the tails has passed.

EDIT: Also, this particular elemental is obviously intelligent enough to keep Jovan from getting free services from it. Would getting ideas, inductions, trap strategies, etc. from it count as a service? It's not really a physical task, which is listed under the possible services of unbound spirits in the short Spirit Services sidebar on SR4A pg 188, and it is a very intelligent spirit (technically just as much as Jovan, my own intelligence-roleplaying ability notwithstanding).

EDITEDIT: Forgot the -1 wound modifier for the summoning rolls. Taking off the last die, the first one should be 1 hit, and the fourth should be 2 hits. Not that it matters anyway, as it has no effect on their assigned lifespans.

If you drive by remote in hotsim, it lowers the threshold of any action by 1 since it's VR, and you still get your +2 hotsim bonus. Remember, it's the future! Driving by hand is nowhere near as effective or awesome as driving by thought! You just have to rely on vehicle sensors instead of your intuition.

Hey guys, I think I'm gonna take a break for a while and let the party get more dwarfy. smile.gif It's been good playing with you guys! Hopefully once the new year hits, things will be less hectic for me and I can get back on board with a new character.

Would it be profitable, acceptable, preferable to call a hiatus on the thread as a whole till the new year? I would miss Thirty.

@ saint: its a good size chopper, but not a giant cargo one/ And I guess you can launch your kull.
here's how i see things, Ferret's van is heading NE towards tourist town, the chopper is circling east, the other truck is coming up from behind you guys about half a km. does that soud about right?

Ok, I'm retarded with cardinal directions. I meant West here. tourist town is NW , the chopper was circling west.
Now the SUV is heading WEST towards the downed chopper. This probably doesn't matter too much, but Its what I'm picturing and I realised I was writing the wrong thing. going east heads back to glow city. I wish I had an easy way to do maps. I hope this doesn't mess anyone up too bad

I would too. not to mention he's the only combat oriented build in the group. this next bit is going to be crazy. I mean, you guys have spirits and air superiority, and such. But it would have been nice to have Thirty around. We've kind of stalled for a bit, and maybe that's my fault. Maybe he got bored. Maybe the holidays are going to make it impossible to post twice a week.
My only concern is, if we take a break, this game will die like all the others I've played on here. So I'm pretty much willing to kill the whole team until this game is dead. At least that way, it won't feel unfinished. There's a new guy in the wings that wants to play, and it would suck for him to have us go on a break to save Huge C. It goes against the Post Or Die concept.
So Who wants to die? because it would be easier to coordinate a couple of deaths together.
pbangarth
Well, I've been trying for years to play Professor. Three campaigns have died out from under him. I would hate to see him go after all that. If it is a choice between Professor living without Thirty, and Professor dying with him.... sorry buddy, I vote we keep the system going as is.
Sephiroth

Red-ROM, as far as maps go, are you familiar with this project? It may not have much, especially in Redmond, but it does have the Body Mall on there near Beaver Lake.
Red-ROM
@ Thirty: the deed is done... ish. if you change your mind, you could survive. I'm going for poisoned. maybe you die, maybe you recover. By January we could be just finishing this fight. Who knows.
