SquirrelDude
I’ll leave it to Thanee, the designated bnc searcher to describe the state of things when bnc comes to.
Luckace
Just to clarify the setup:
Sharkboy, Anna (sleeping?) and bnc (constrained?) are in the van, while Nova and Wraith are on their bikes - is that correct?
I guess the van is heading towards our flat?
SquirrelDude
That sounds about right.
Thanee
Yep, once we are on our way. Before, Nova was in the van as well, obviously. smile.gif

Bye
Thanee
Volker
How is bnc restrained? Handcuffed to a seat?
Thanee
I don't think she is. Her weapon is not on her, but lies somewhere nearby (and is not loaded).

“Yeah Well, until she does, it’s probably best that we restrain her meatspace body. Ms. Black or Nova should search her for any weapons. Can’t really have her coming back in the middle of the night, and pulling a gun on us, again.”

“Worst case scenario, it will be significantly easier for you or Ms. Black to choke her out when she’s already restrained.”

Did Sharkboy handcuff/bind/restrain her? If so, how?
SquirrelDude
I was waiting to see if/how Nova searches her and what is revealed from that before going ahead and binding her with anything.

Also I'm finally back home in the states.
Volker
As I said, she has no further weapons on her, but some drugs.

So, Sharkboy does not restrain her, and Nova doesn't either. Good smile.gif
SquirrelDude
IC no one has stated the situation, yet
Thanee
Nova did not restrain bnc in any way. She would have unloaded her gun and put it nearby, but that's about it.

She expects her to have cooled off enough to be reasonable, when she comes back. wink.gif

Bye
Thanee
SquirrelDude
If that's all she did then Sharkboy probably would have taken the gun for himself and also looked for whatever bnc used to attack Anna.

He doesn't have any items to restrain her with, and probably wouldn't feel they are necessary for his purposes.
Volker
As said above, she used her implanted shockhands to attack Anna. Please don't cut off my hands ^^

Anna shakes her head indicating that she has no wishes to talk to bnc. The night of sleep has done her well, and she starts with breakfast and then she practices some physical exercise by watching a ten-minute video of an instructor. Working her body a bit makes calms her, and so her next stop is the shower unless its occupied.

Wait. Does that mean that bnc is still locked in and Anna takes an idle breakfast without as much as giving her the keys or informing her?
Gilga
Anna did not lock bnc in the room. Shark did - so better ask him.

SquirrelDude
Shark hasn’t been informed that bnc has returned yet, and was just giving Anna the keys because she was the one who was attacked. He hasn’t let her out.

If Anna doesn’t take them he’ll probably keep them in his pocket and take breakfast in his room.
Gilga
Speaking of, Anna, what was it you took from him, anything that can give us a lead?

What did Anna take from him? Can you remind me?
Luckace
I believe Jack mentioned Singerian foci, but we did not ho into any details so far. Wraith would assume that by now Anna took a better look at them, as to what kind of foci, how powerful etc.
Or hereby remind her that they should, if she hasn't .
Gilga
Let's assume that she did, she has great assensing. I'll wait for Jack to respond and then make a post sharing that information.
Jack_Spade
The mage carried a Spellcasting (counterspelling) focus F6
Gilga
Wow... Anna would really want it. How does it look? totally dibs!
Luckace

bnc took a closer look to the interference - the stones were thick, but not that thick either. Suddenly she realized that this was the work of an active jammer and a powerful one at that. So Kerstin had left some of her equipment active behind. But this had to be a directional jammer, aimed at this very room. Why would she do that?

Anna was busy turning the corpse over. bnc recognized the face as the Mitsuhama specialist Buchner. He carried an expensive commlink a bag of crystaline powder that felt like reagents, a small handgun (Streetline Special) made mostly from ceramics and loaded with capsule rounds, an internal smartlink, electronic firing and a removed trigger. In addition it had a biometric scanner on the grip.
She found also two engraved metal discs hanging on leather strings around his neck. Those looked like foci on the astral.

Wraith took a look into the totally dark room on the other side from the astral: There were no active auras, but the room seemed to be cluttered with trash all over the floor. But the BGC definitely smelled like the bunker in Vienna.

@Jack: You mentioned only one focus in your current post. Was that an accident or was there only one focus all along?
Jack_Spade
Ah, yes, that should have read as one focus. But no need to be stingy: Let's say the second disc was a centering focus F6
Luckace
Oh boy, Christmas came early biggrin.gif Thanks!

* insert Palpatine meme* "UNLIMITED POWER!"

Okay , I'll wait for Gilga to adjust his post about the loot before posting.
Gilga
Adjusted!

Volker
Did Kerstin ignore bnc's questions or did they just slip your attention?
Luckace
Does Kerstin's representation of the base show several possible ports of entry (like, don't know, ventilation shafts on the top of the structure), or is there basically only one gate we could probably enter through?
Jack_Spade
There is one main entrance to admit vehicles and three side entrances for personal only.
Gilga
Thanks for the tip on ultrasonic noise generator... I'll definately add it.

While I am at it, the raid of a cooperate facility seems to be the kind of thing you want to do with a full body armor. Is it reasonable to get one or has that train sailed already?
Thanee
About "voice recognition" ... looking at SR5 p. 359/360, it seems like you pretty much need the "voice" in some way (recording or some voice modulator).

Bye
Thanee
SquirrelDude
Wouldn’t be surprised if there was some password or formalized statement that went along with voice recognition.

FBA on short notice is hard to get. You could use the one from the mercenary you caught - you'd need someone with armorer or the fashion spell to bring it to your size though.

And yes: Fooling voice recognition needs the special adept ability or the cyberware developed specifically for that purpose.
Volker
I still have the FBA back from Deep Blue Sea... biggrin.gif or was it Pain and Gain?
Jack_Spade
For the drone:
It's an Aztec Crawler with a Pilot Upgrade to R5, Gecko feet mod, added primitive cyberarms, running an R6 Agent, R5 Electronic Warfare, Smoke&Mirrors, Virtual Machine and Exploit/Sneak, depending on task.
The Crawler is modded to have a Sleaze Attribute + 1 increase to 2
The arms are upgraded with a modded Induction Receiver Cybermodule (DT p. 64f) so they gain a direct connection by being placed on a cable or device.
The cyberarms also have capacity to include ultrasound jammers and a directional jammer, as well as a micro welder. The armor is modded with Ruthenium Polymer.

It's job is to crawl along the wall and ceiling and use direct hacking to control devices and edit files while staying invisible.
Volker
I'm still not quite sure how it works. Sorry for being thick. But thee IRC is for decks only, so I don't quite understand how you can equip a drone with it.

When the drone connects to thee device, do I then need a direct connection to the drone or can I use a "direct connection" over distance?
Jack_Spade
No problem:
Drones can run all the same programs that RCCs can. And RCCs can run cyberprograms and agents.
Modding allows you to add modules to any kind of device, not just Cyberdecks.
Only caveat is that you can add only one mod per device. But there is no rule preventing you from direct connecting two or more modded devices.

The trick is now, that the drone hacks a given device autonomously through direct connection, circumventing master-slave protection.
To improve the chances of the drone, you can assist it through a teamwork test, increasing limit and dp and therefore chances for success for the drone.
That way you can use a direct connection hack without actually having a direct connection.
Volker
Ah okay, but I can't use my full dice pool but use the drone's dice pool instead and assist it over a teamwork test. Right?
Luckace
As a heads up:
From the 29.7. on I might be unable to post regularly for quite some time. I'll be backpacking through Asia for roughly five weeks and I can't really predict how much internet I'll have on my trip. I'll post when possible, but I don't know how often that will be.

Would someone volunteer on steering Wraith when he should act but I can't post?
Volker
I guess, to ensure a good overview, I'll post my holiday plans as well, as they're going to affect this game quite a bit:
From 28.7. to 4.8., I'll be on a live rpg. In this time, I won't be able to post.
Then I'll be back for a couple of days, dunno, three or four or so. After that, I'll go hiking to Romania for another two-and-a-half weeks or so. I won't be able to post in this time either.

@Luckace
you sure you're leaving on 29.8., not 29.7.?
Luckace
Oh, thanks for noticing that biggrin.gif
I'll leave on 29.7, not 29.8, my bad.
Volker
So, basically, we're both away at the exact same time biggrin.gif

@rest how do you want to do it? Do you want to proceed? If so, who'll handle bnc and Wraith. Jack, do you want to play them?
Or do you want to wait for us to return?
SquirrelDude
If the planning is complete-ish, it might be viable to take a break before the big climax.
Jack_Spade
Yeah, we can handle the preparation phase now and the real finale when you are back
Thanee
Yep, we should be all here, when the big stuff happens. smile.gif

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
I have no problem with waiting, I'll also be away in 18.8-22.8. I'll be in China but I am not sure I'll bring my computer fearing spyware.
Volker
How much time exactly do we have?

Two things bnc will want to do for sure:
- fix James
- fetch her super armor
Jack_Spade
Five days
Gilga
Guys, I am taking a few days off due to some deadlines at work.
Volker

So you extended the "RCCs may run cyberdecks" to cyberdeck mods as well, did I get that right?
So, I would also be allowed to install, say, a multidimensional coprocessor to a battle drone and give it 5d6 initiative?

---

As for preparation:
bnc will remove her cyberdeck, repair any matrix damage (I'm not sure whether I still have got some) and replace the multidimensional coprocessor through the vectored signal filter. I assume that there's gonna be a lot of noice where we're going. Then she puts the deck back into her head and asks Wraith to Heal the wound. Heal mages are handy.
She'll then repair James which shouldn't take very long. During the course, she will install the updates she got from Abdecker (that is, mostly, the cybereyes) and, if you allow it and we got the time, a cyberdeck mod. Once James is online again, he'll go fetch bnc's battle armor.
I have to check whether or not there's something I wanna buy, the rest of the preparation is pretty much intel on the whole area (can she dig up something?), restoring ammunition (though I don't think I spent any), regaining edge, mixing some Goldie and getting used to the FBA (inside walls after making sure there's no surveillance).

yep. So, summary of my questions:
- can I mod any drone with any cyberdeck mod?
- do I find out anything Kerstin didn't by means of online research?
- would I find R6 autosofts for James in time?
- does everything work out fine?
Jack_Spade
No, that's not a house rule: literally any device can be hardwired with a Cyberdecks module, provided it's the only modification.
So yes you can have a drone or a commlink hardwired with a multi dimensional co-processor module, just as you can mod a cyberdeck to have two modules (three if you take the quality from KC)

You can find out lots of stuff, but Kerstin has done a very thorough job to find everything relevant.
You can find R6 autosofts, but a drone can only run a rating up to its pilot rating. You'd need an RCC otherwise.

As for working out fine: Assuming you are cautious, buying hits and spending edge where necessary, the team should be able to get everything done to prepare for the break-in
