Can we move the game foward to "we got our gear and park the van near the club"?
We're just getting over a lot of lag and I'm gettin' antsy.

Hey All,
Fenris will post tonight. I took a hostage so it should happen. I have been swamped this week getting ready for a weekend guest and to celebrate my 7th year anniversary with my sweetie. So come Monday the pace should pick up back to the beginning one we had going.
Great work from everyone so far. I am enjoying the thread. I will be able to post some tomorrow then I will have a weekend blackout. Fenris is putting together a cheat sheet of info/evidence so far for you all which I think is an awesome idea all around.
Grey
Apr 2 2004, 12:58 AM
Wow, that is a good idea. I'm sure we're gunna be finding clues and hints all over the place. Its a good idea to keep track of them all.

Apr 2 2004, 01:41 AM
I am finally posting. Please excuse my tardiness, but I've been seriously thinking that there's something serious we're missing, so I wanted to hold off on posting until I had the chance to review and take notes on the entire thread.
Below are pertinent bits that I've tossed together so far, as well as the questions they raise, in my mind, in red. I'll be presenting most of the questions in the IC thread as well, so if you don't feel like scanning through, they'll be there.
Moira's City Spirit:
"I will do so but beware the night swells with blood and pain. I see
throats cut and hear screams cut short. The Tower of Light has its guards out, war rests heavy in the air."
Initial Glance at the 3rd floor in the astral:
"You can see threads of terror, hunger and rage."
Paladin's interrogation of the woman:
"The freaks go there and party. The red lady's court, all glittery. Fangs
and tails, they all slink in." As she speaks, the sanity bleeds from her
eyes. Her hands seem to twitch and flutter like flies beating against a
window. "Then the lights and the songs" She begins to hum to herself, while rubbing her cheek against your chest. "Been a good girl, saw the pretty fancies and danced." She stops, as if she hears something. Her head cocked to the side. "Then the monsters were gone, looked under the bed. They went to the party and feasted. Oh the blood was so red and shiny, just like the red lady. "All gone." She begins to cry softly, the tears leaving trails down her face. "The white fur, so white. The blood like rubies, and she was so fast but never fast enough. They were everywhere, all teeth and claws." She barks like some sort of canine. "They screamed and screamed." She jerks her arm free and begins to beat the side of her face with balled fists. "No room at the inn! No room at the inn! All full. Not even a virgin."
Moira's familiar:
"It is something old and dark. It does not walk the spirit ways with me and mine."
Impressions of the circle:
"A heavy acidic smell hangs in the air."
"As you step a little closer to look at the circle, you see none of the
tell-tale signs of blood magic. It looks more shamanic than hermetic in
nature. You can see a section of the circle has been smudged out"
"As you slide to the astral you see the area just above the circle a
broiling snarl of violent emotions. The circle appears to have no astral
presence but the astral space that is contaminanted is an almost exact
match to the boundaries of the circle. "
"Looking for something else to stare at, you shift to the symbols on the
ground. The circle is certainly not hermetic but what particular totem you have no idea. You recoil from the thought that someone had found a way to control Nomads, perhaps a ritual that binds and commands the spirit. You know that true names can be quested for in the deeper astral realms but why anyone would seek this type of spirit... "
"The physical remains of the ritual area has a few burnt candle stubs and piles of ash. The symbols seemed to have been painted on with a strange paint, the detail isn't fine so you don't think with a brush. You find evidence that at least 4 people were here. The center of the area has what looks to be spattering of dark rust liquid, possibly blood. Maybe covering an area about the size of a dinner plate. "
"Your best bet would be an idol totem."
Izzy:
"But the other night some other people came, normal looking, in a van. It dropped them off and they went upstairs. Then nothing for a long time. The party people came and then later there was gunshots and screaming. It went on and on then stopped. I didn't poke my head out until all the noise had stopped for awhile. When I looked I saw some lady stumble down the fire escape and take off on a scooter."
"You see them unload some small 1' by 1' by 1' boxes, 3 in total from the back."
"The last thing you see is the men unloading what looks to be a body. It's wrapped up in some sort of cloth that appears to be covered with mystic symbols. They appear to treat it with great care"
Star:
The kid's name was Brian Metuzack. The kid was found with a single puncture wound over his heart.(Time of death?)
He went missing sometime after school on Monday afternoon.
They have a rough description of a young man with short blonde hair driving the vehicle. The Metuzack family are long standing employees of Transys Nueronet (who owns them? Subsidarary of whom?)
Sosofu:
"I am the vessel. That which holds the poison. I am the blade poised over the throats of the innocent. Others wield me to revenge themselves. Tooth and claw battle. The servants of those long asleep move across the board. The Hungry has a name now and can be shaped." (Revenge and sleepers, Hungry??)
"I was the lense. I was used to bind the others that followed. The servants of stone serpent have mastered the tide that follows in my wake." (Spirit used by servants of the stone serpent to focus the "tide" that followed, the wake of emotions.)
(Advesary-If I can't have it, then destroy it.)
(Who is Iblis's company? Who has she turned down in the past?)
The once former Prince has reached out, his hands stained with blood of
years past. The weight of the years, the war is eternal. The sleepers have risen again!" (Council of Princes, somebody that was recently impeached or released?)

The once former Prince has reached out... |
I think this may not be an ousted prince, but rather a prince that was ONCE ousted and is now reinstated or otherwise redeemed. "The once" seems to indicate a past condition that would not apply...or at least, the removal of title would have been something in the past..as in not recent.
Also, Prince may be a much more vague reference...it could easily mean political icon...the UCAS and similar areas might not have a monarcy, but politicians are practically the royalty of our society to a lesser degree...

Ok all, going to bump the thread to the stake out. I will place you all a few blocks from the club with a clear view of the entrance. I will let you all set the time frame. I'm assuming early enough to see most of the traffic heading into the the building. Correct me if I made any mistakes.

Does the door troll seem to notice the van that nobody is getting out of?
Is there a good location to get a cat's eye view of the goings on?

SNIP
I will never place you all in a place that screws you from the get go unless you all insist.
The troll doesn't seem to notice the vehicle. You have a high enough Car skill that I will skip over what I think is easy things for you all in your areas of expertise, like driving up all slick and unnoticed but I will edit my post to reflect that. I should have included more flavor text to illustrate that. One of the reasons I wanted more seasoned runners. That way we can highlight dramatic elements or story ones and assume you're cool the rest of the time. Die rolling to enhance the game not dictate it.

One karma for you for making me bust a gut.
Speaking of karma, how do you all want it awarded? I could do it at the end or parse it out as we go. Does anyone have a preference? I am going to toss out that karma pools refresh by segments. I will post a message saying when they do. They have now with the switch to the Body Bag.

Note to Self: Don't keep forgetting you have a Karma Pool.
I like to give out karma as the game goes on. If it was table top, that would be different, but on here I think its best to hand it out as we go because of the slower progression.

Radio emanations from the limo, with multiple video angles, I'm looking for a face. Also, looking to get distinguishing marks on the body of the limo that might help follow it later.

Do limo drivers in the 2060's shoot the breeze? (Etiquette: 7:4:3:9)
If so I can try to talk him out of his car and we can replace him, though that's trickier for following.
Also, I don't happen to have a bug handy but I might be able to trace via transponder, that looks like a legit limo, if so it's a legit transponder code (hopefully).
I scan for the limo transponder code:

Buddha, can you give us a good description of the front of the club? I need to know where we can setup an ambush and whatnot.
Buddha72
Apr 8 2004, 06:58 AM
The front has a single entrance. The door looks to be pretty sturdy. A line occasionally forms of about 6 to 8 people. You think the club has reached capacity and the door troll is letting people in as some leave. The sidewalk is pretty clear. The parking lot to the right is filled with cars and motorcycles. To the left is another building, it looks to be a small office of some sort. Single story and one entrance with no windows. It looks to be unused at the moment. There are a few cars parked in front that could provide cover.
Anything more specific you're looking for in the way of details?
Grey
Apr 8 2004, 04:21 PM
Is the place right on the street, or is it back from the street with the parking lot between the building and the street?
In other words, if I drop them and Murrey pulls up with the van, will I be right on the street to jump in or will he have to work his way through a parking lot to get to me?
Blitz

I'm not making excuses for the character's IC comment, that's just the characters attitude, but just to warn you guys OOC, any NPC's we tangle with are going to be just as bad as us, and probably built just as well, if not better. Specialists specialize, and I recommend not tangling with anyone you don't have to, and making sure the situation is tilted in your favor. Read: Ambush away from extraneous people and possible backup = much more favorable then dealing with so many unknowns.
Grey
Apr 8 2004, 06:24 PM
I'm just worried about the off chance that once they are mobile, they become a much more likely to get away. Getting the drop on them now is tilting in our favor as much as possible. This combat'll be over in one round.

Unless the Psyad beats you on reaction, or has first strike, and kicks your ass. Or the troll bouncer with all the cyberware starts blowing shit up. Or somebody calls Lonestar or whoever they have a contract with and they materialize in 3 seconds, or just send a mage with some spirits or elementals. On the street in front of the club is too public. I can slow the limo down, no problem. 1 earth elemental + movement power = acceleration
divided by 6. That means stock the limo would be accelerating at 1 per turn. If our rigger can't catch that, he's not worthy of the name
