She doesn't seem to know Blaze. Hmm. What if she doesn't cooperate with us.

Ah... So this is a situation gel rounds would be useful for.

ETG makes a mental note to get some gel rounds for... one of his guns.

ROFLMAO!!!!!
Mister Juan
Thats just...... bad.
bclements
Yeah, he ain't packing anything that's good.
banditf50
I think Ronin deserves the award for 'best roleplaying' in this scene. No matter how few lines they are, the posts of ETG are my favorites to read smile.gif

Go job with the character Ronin!
Tiredronin
Thanks Bandit!
You guys should see how much I crack up when I insert those few random lines biggrin.gif

ETG is like the characters we used to make when Bandit, Winterrat and I would play tabletop SR2. Back before we discovered stuff like "negotiation" or "character timelines."
banditf50
Karma awards for my players

Character timelines nothing. ETG is like the characters we made before we discovered Etiquette! smile.gif

Anyone want to respond before Lady Dove does? Technically Knight has the pictures, but obviously I can write him as just handing them over to Lady Dove. Let me know if anyone wants to post or if I should just go ahead and respond.
Slipshade
Not I. Max is just waiting to hear from Lady Dove or Mr. Cao.
banditf50
I would think that we might hear from Knight, perhaps Cao.

By the way, I would also like to acknowledge what I think has been excellent role-playing on the part of Mister Juan. Knight was originally a PC under my GMing, so I already had ample experience with his unique mannerisms and personality. You have managed to capture these wonderfully Mister Juan, and I don't think that it is an easy thing to do.

Kudos to you.
Scrapheap
I think that all of the pinch-hitters have done well. It really adds to the scene to interact with other players.

As far as John, he's waiting to see how the Dove/Blaze scene plays out. He still hasn't relaxed, though he's trying to appear calm, and he's still watching everyone, especially ETG.
WinterRat1
You know, has it ever occurred to anyone that maybe ETG really does have a trombone in his case and he's just a really scary looking trombone player?

Maybe Blaze hired him so that when he finds Melissa ETG can bust out the trombone and play some appropriately epic celebratory music on his trombone.

I mean I feel for the poor guy. Ya'll are acting like he's some kind of...criminal or something! smile.gif

BC and Mister Juan, I will wait a bit to see if either of you two wants to post before responding as Lady Dove.
bclements
I'm telling y'all, anyone dressed like Blaze has got to have theme music, some type of trombone fanfare going on when he walks into a scene.

WR1: Give me till this afternoon, I'll get something up.
WinterRat1
Sounds good. I posted in ASVW too, just fyi in case you missed it.
bclements
Oh, saw that too. I'll get something up over there as well.

Well, I bow to your compliments wink.gif I'm glad I can do somewhat justice to such a interesting and cool character.

question.gif Everything ok over there BC?
bclements
Oh yeah, just reacting to grendel's latest post. I do not think that it bodes well.
WinterRat1
So would now be a bad time to point out that some of the PCs (quite a few of them it seems) either:

a) are going to Cal Free
b) are already in Cal Free
c) appear to have a pretty high probability of ending up in Cal Free in the near future

Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?
Cedric Rolfsson
Sorry for jumping off topic but I've been reviewing the rules in SR4 and I have a question for you rules gurus concerning the technomancers primarily and hackers too since they should be able to do the same sorts of things. If I'm being a total idiot please say so.

Okay, premise is that almost everyone is on-line with their commlink, and that most of those people are going to be using some form of Image Link to be able to "view" the augmented reality that is the SR4 Matrix. Can a technomancer create an visual illusion?

All cybereyes come with an Image Link so anyone with a set of cybereyes could have their augmented reality visual feed "hacked" by a technomancer who then tells the Image Link to project a virtual simulation of the desired effect. The SR4 book is pretty specific concerning the fact that most cyberware devices are wirelessly accessible. It'd be slightly less effective with the image links in the electric shades/goggles that most of us wear, (I say that but I have no idea what a "retina-writing laser" is or can do) but still it should be possible for a Technomancer to play with the settings to make the illusion seem realistic.

Spirits help any poor shlep wearing a simsense rig or who has their datajack connected to their commlink cause they are the Technomancer meat puppet cause then the technomancer should be able to effectively hijack their sensory perceptions and feed in whatever data makes the hacker feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
grendel
Remember that augmented reality overlays Reality, and thus a visual provided by an image link (cyberware/contacts/glasses/etc) would not be sufficiently convincing enough to actually fool someone into thinking that something was (not) there. Also, most vision systems are equipped with vision enhancements which would counteract the false image provided.

Keep in mind, too, that most cyberware has a flux of 0, giving it an effective signal range of 3m. So a hacker or technomancer would have to be up close and personal in order to manipulate someone's cyberware. Also, since hacking takes place at the same speed as everything else, a hacker/technomancer going three times is faced with a street sam only 3m away also going three times. Possibly earlier in the initiative phase.

Cyberware can also be installed 'wired' instead of 'wireless'. In this case, you would have all of your 'wired' gear running through an external interface such as a datajack or internal commlink, which would interface with the wireless world. Which would mean that you could install IC or agents on your internal commlink to deal with any pesky hackers/technomancers that tried to mess with your cyberware.

The wireless vulnerability of cyberware has been blown way out of proportion. In a combat situation it would never happen. In an ambush/sniper situation, yes, it's possible. But it would require a lot of planning and it would have to be against a solo sam or mage. A hacker/technomancer on the opposing team will close the security holes and then it's simply force on force with no surprise.
Shadow
I will be unable to post Wednesday and Thursday, I might get a chance, but I doubt it.
Mister Juan
Earthquakes.
High tech weapons being stolen.
The military preparing for some major battle.

Is it just me or does it seem like the drek is really about to hit the fan?
WinterRat1
Nah, it's just Grendel. I mean, what horrible, dark, twisted, horrendous, utterly insane things would Grendel do? I mean, considering that he has my full approval for whatever his devious and twisted mind comes up with, what's the worst that could possibly happen? vegm.gif

Sleep well tonight everyone.

And I'll just say it for Grendel:

Move along citizen, nothing to see here. ™

That's your cue to do your evil laugh Grendel. wink.gif
grendel
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

WinterRat1
Right on cue...how do you like that?
grendel
Like clockwork. Like a falling domino. Like a vast, precise, organized, ruthless, relentless machine.

General Announcement

Hey Everyone, I would like to formally announce the addition of Mister Juan to the GM Staff. He will be heading up our (long inert) Special Projects division for the time being and helping/running many various projects to enhance our game.

For those who have not yet checked out the updated and improved LITS Story website, I strongly encourage you to do so, as it is absolutely fantastic. Also, if you have been or currently are interested in any projects to help develop LITS, either in the game (via projects such as the Shadowland thread or Newsletters) or out of the game (via projects like the website) but didn't want to have full responsibility for it yourself, by all means talk to Mister Juan and see what the two of you can come up with. Welcome aboard Mister Juan, we're glad to have you on the team with us! smile.gif

Creepy; like your dead grandmother creeping up your leg with a kitchen knife.

Did you forget 'dark, grim, unstoppable, inevitable, and of course, evil' in your description of aforementioned machine Grendel? Or did you just not want to scare the children?
WinterRat1
And for those who were wondering, no, Grendel and I did not plan such a preciesely timed reply from him.
grendel
I figured that stuff went without saying. smile.gif
WinterRat1
Well you know, there might have been a few people (especially the new people who are starting to apply) who might not have picked up on that yet. I wouldn't want them to insult you by thinking that the machine was anything less than an ominous harbringer of complete and utter doom.

And did you just use a smiley face? I can't remember the last time I saw you do that, if ever.
grendel
Hey, you've gotta break it to 'em easy. You bring them in, get them hooked, and then you spring the evil. You've got to wait for the opportune moment.
WinterRat1
Oh ok, my bad. Ahem, well for those who are new to LITS and are not familiar with the abysmal depths of Grendel's dark, twisted, depraved, and evil nature, I only have one thing to say:

Move along citizen, nothing to see here.™
Mister Juan
rotfl.gif

Oh man! This whole thing is even better than the time when Max tried to force himself on Scrapheap.
WinterRat1
Lots of admin catch up today folks, I'll try to get a post up for Lady Dove tomorrow to keep things moving along.
banditf50
Wow. . .just wow. I thought that I had been pretty quick about reading all the new posts on LiTS this week, not letting the high posting rates of us all this week get ahead of me, but last night just through me for a loop.

I went to bed at ~8pm, because I was up most of Tuesday night working in my lab, and no one had posted. 12 hours later, lots of OOC conversation, and several long and curious posts by Grendel in the IC. That is the last time that I try to get some extra sleep eek.gif
WinterRat1
Open posting to the Warehouse folks, go ahead and reply at will.
Slipshade
Good job everyone. That was fun to watch play out.

It will be even more fun to watch Grendel make everyone squirm. Though it did occur to me that he may just be throwing out completely random crap just to scare the living daylights out of us. eek.gif

Slip, are you implying that this scene is reaching its conclusion? If so, let me say this: I'm just getting warmed up. wink.gif

So keep replying everyone, I'll input the next post when it's appropriate.

As far as Grendel's stuff and my responses: It's not random, and you should definitely be afraid. Very afraid.
Slipshade
WR1 - Oh, I don't think the scene is over, just wanted to acknowledge the jobs they did.

As for what I said about Grendel, I was trying to make myself feel better. Thanks for ruining that GM. biggrin.gif
WinterRat1
Sorry Slip, I'm supposed to crush players' hopes whenever the opportunity presents itself. It's in the job description, doncha know?
bclements
Grendel's doing an good job of that with mine by himself, thanks wink.gif
WinterRat1
Hey we are a team you know. We're supposed to help each other out whenever possible. That includes the 'crushing player hopes' part of the job description.
Slipshade
WR1's GM checklist:

Create sustainable Shadowrun world...check
Create interesting and interwoven stories and plot lines...check
Sucker hapless doops into signing up...check
Crush all players hopes and dreams in slow methodical fashion...check

If unable to crush players ...enlist the help of other sick and demented parties to assist in said crushing until players are mewing piles of sniveling data trash.

That about some it up?

I am sure Total World Domination is probably in there somewhere. biggrin.gif
