Sooo - once we find the location of the files we need, are you saying you want to handwave the locks given a certain expenditure of time and attention?

If so, I am totally down with that. Though only fair to remind you that Al's pool there is not as stellar as some of his other technical skills, so depending on how many locks there are and their complexity, you might want to charge me some Edge, if you want to shorthand it that way to keep things moving IC-wise.

If you want to get more nitty gritty, that's totally cool too, just let me know what the locks are once we find the files and we'll get down to it..

Yeah I was wondering about whether this had a host or not. Got a little over there but that's fine to assume I have access for now, it'd be something I'd have done anyway.

EDIT: Also, besides looking for a ride for them, here's a Matrix Perception test; a suitable vehicle probably isn't running silent, but I'd like to see what else might be hiding here, since in character I probably don't know about Winter, though seeing if the HTR team has a rigger or hacker of their own would be a good idea.

So I'd normally be a 9 for this, but with public grid and my stun modifier, I'm rocking 6 dice.
4, 5, 6, 5, 6, 6 Well then... guess that'll be 5 hits, with a my limit of 5 from my Data Processing. Lets see them beat that!

So…things are heating up and we're taking on a number of tasks to turn this nightmare into a success…

Can I suggest dividing up a few responsibilities?
Just thoughts…

LeFey: Identify the target hard drive.

Jan: watch our backs, set up some sort of defensive position that we hope not to need, maybe take over monitoring their comms.

Al: open locks for LeFey; direct PsyOp's efforts for the fire suppression plan.

PsyOp: control airlock door, implement fire suppression system plan, find us a back way out, boost us a vehicle.
That is a lot of stuff - tell us where you need help.
Al could do some of the fire suppressions stuff manually/once we have the drive, LeFey could help with exit or vehicle

Ali: stay alive and get back together with us, or otherwise out!!!

Sorry, I know most of that is obvious - it just helps me keep my own thoughts organized, make sure I don't forget anything!

Yeah, all my complex forms don't generate OS, the benefit of being a technomancer; neither does compiling my sprite, but it does get an OS itself once it is compiled, and will generate it over time just like I would with illegal matrix actions, though the sprite's OS probably won't matter much since it only has one task, and I'll just Static Veil myself soon to stop me gaining OS passively over time. Also once it's up I'll be shunting Resonance Veil into Focused Concentration so I don't have to worry about rolling to sustain it. I'll do the same for Static Veil once it's up.

I've already got the suppression and door down it seems, so those are good to go. As for a ride once I find on I'll either hack it normally or try for another complex form since TMs aren't super great at normal hacking, especially with my current -3 to all my dice pools on Matrix Actions from the grid I'm on and my stun damage. Thankfully the grid penalty doesn't apply to my Resonance abilities.

That wasn't quite where I was aiming - I was trying to impress the urgency of your situation and that you don't have the time to piss about unlocking everything and risk missing your target even then...

I estimate you have about 2 mins until the HTR team are staged and inbound on your position, PsyOp will have to contend with patrol IC long before that point though! And Ali is still in the wrong place, facing off against two guards and is nearer to the HTR team...

Also bear in mind nobody has done anything about internal cameras as far as I'm aware?!? So sec forces know where you are and what you are doing (which may or may not accelerate their arrival)

So matrix search on the Archive: Simple Computer + Intuition [Data Processing] threshold 6 (hidden info), interval 1 min, you can use a teamwork test on this one...and if you use the archive's AR system you can use it's data processing of 9

Once we knew they were on to us, I kinda quit worrying about surveillance, but, DUH, having eyes on us gives them a gigantic tactical advantage.
And now I'd feel dumb doing anything about it…

If it's teamwork, obviously LeFey should be the leader on the archive search.
Al will join in, with his hits adding dice - we have to total six hits on the first try to get this thing found in one minute, leaving only one minute (maybe) to get the locks open.
(Maybe our nifty fire suppression plan will buy as time!!!)

Al will use his own commlink - don't want the vertigo, and the only drawback to lo-teching it is the limit, and I'm going to use Edge to Push the Limit anyway.

Hmm I'll see what I can do about those cameras, though without a crack sprite I'll have to do it myself. I'll throw up Static Veil before I do just to make sure the only OS I'm worrying about is from my actions. First though time for static veil. Also it seems I forgot my 2 extra dice on Matrix Perception for being a Technomancer, not that I need them with that roll, but good to remember.

Static Veil: L2
3, 6, 6, 2, 6, 6, 5, 2, 3 So 5 hits, with my limit of 2, and then I'll shunt it into Focused Concentration so that's full up for now.
Now the fading of 1

Since I have a mark on the host through the tap, I should have a mark on the cameras too right? Or will I need to mark them as well before editing the team from the footage?

@adamu - Not sure how anyone is going to get Ali out of this besides Ali (and maybe Mr. D) without jeopardizing the rest of the team/mission. She's got a pretty good con game to play if necessary. Probably best to focus on finding the file we need and *then* worry about Ali wink.gif

Well if you can't con your way out I'll try and back you up. Once the cameras are dealt with I'll just need to be on the look out for IC. I can either send you the machine sprite to buff your stuff or hurt theirs, and can mess with their guns myself if they're on wireless.

Quick forewarning: I'm off on holiday from Friday for 10 days, I might be able to check in and make the odd OoC response but doubt I'll be able to do any realistic IC (hate typing on my phone!)

Argh, IC time disappearing... I made the roll for LeFey and she has identified three hard drives that have suspicious paydata on...it can be analysed later. I think you can take it from here briefly to describe the unlocking and the start of your retreat...that is unless you go back for Ali?!?

I think we hope Ali will get to us on her own .... I think she needs resolution on her latest IC post.

As for "briefly to describe the unlocking and the start of your retreat", MORE than happy to do that if you are cool with fluffing the unlocking...

If you need rolls, I need types/ratings on the locks...

Sorry got busy over the weekend. Here's my rolls for taking control of that car.

Gonna throw Resonance veil at one of the step vans, make it think it's owner is approaching when Al comes near it and unlock and begin starting up. We'll throw a level 5 at it.

2, 3, 6, 6, 2, 6, 4, 6, 1, 1 So that's 4 hits that the device will have to resist, now my Fade resist.

1, 1, 5, 3, 3, 1, 4, 4, 2, 5, 3, 5, 3 So 3 hits, means I take 1S. I'll throw up the IC post now too. Also the Machine sprite will try Diagnostics on Jan's gun.

Diagnostics:
4, 1, 4, 1, 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 3 So 1 hit, meaning he gets +1 to his limit with the weapon and +1 to his die pool.

Thanks for the assist, but Jan is quite distrusting of tech and runs completely dark. He hasn't got a smartgun. He can't even see AR! biggrin.gif

Maybe just switch the name to Al, or find something else for the machine sprite to do smile.gif

Um, well, this is awkward...especially since PsyOp's arrival has been a literal life-saver on this SNAFU of a run...but afraid Al's weapons and gear are mostly throwbacks - no wifi capability at all.

Only thing active on me now is a Y100 throwaway commlink...

I guess this is one reason for me to stop being so eccentric and actually post my whole sheet...

I'll bet that sprite would come in super-handy enhancing whatever car we boost, though, in case it turns into a chase...

Alright, so I'm gonna throw a matrix perception test out, see if I can spot the rigger's RCC or control rig if he is running silent or not, and if there's a decker helping them out. If all goes well I'll have my sprite hit either the rigger's controller, be rig or RCC with gremlins, then start getting out of here.

Matrix Perception 12 dice (4 skill + 5 stat - 1 CM + 2 for hot sim + 2 for technomancer):
3, 3, 2, 6, 6, 5, 5, 1, 4, 6, 3, 6 So 6 hits total, with my limit of 5 so 5 hits for my matrix perception.

Now for the gremlins from the sprite, which is 12 dice as well:
5, 6, 1, 5, 5, 1, 6, 5, 5, 5, 3, 6 So 9 hits with a limit of 6. Hoping this guy rolls low. Want that 4 net hits for a crit glitch on his stuff!

Well, probably should have waited for a result on that Perception test!

Maybe it'll still stop a surprise roll or something...

Or maybe there really is nothing there...

But that "blinked invitingly" business just really sounds like something the spider would say to the fly...

Was tempted to post us to the red van, but reckoned I'd better wait for clearance...

If there is a decker I've got forms for him or a crack sprite if i really need it. More worried about the rigger doing stuff, and watching his rig fry is hopefully gonna be hilarious.

Ok, apologies, been a mad week trying to catch up after holiday and I haven’t had as much RP time as I would like…so that I can keep you posting in my absence over the weekend:

@PsyOp: as the runners leave the building the host’s Probe IC is sniffing very closely, expect more IC and a great shitstorm very quickly unless you log off! Outside there are two decks and an RCC running (non-silent) on the NeoNet grid. Firewalled up the wazoo! As all three have personas you can assume 3 operators in the deployment vehicle. For the likes of gremlins rolls etc can you let me know what they are resisted by so I don’t have to hunt out the rules too? I would love to have a photographic memory!!! nyahnyah.gif

@Inside Lot: the door is open and the van waiting…easy, right?!?

@Ali: ok, the HTR team seemed to want you to wait for them…want to? Or can you persuade your escort to let you go out the front? There are at least 3 more HTR out there of course!

That's fine, I wasn't sure if I should keep doing that. Gremlins is resisted by device rating plus firewall, and if the decks and rcc are on the neonet grid, but not in the host I'll back out of the host since I don't need to be in there anymore.

Since gremlins isn't sustained my sprite disappears after that, so next I'm gonna need a new one. I'll start compiling a level 7 crack sprite.

So my compile roll got me 4 hits: 5, 4, 6, 3, 3, 1, 3, 6, 2, 6, 1 against the sprite's... wow, 4 hits: 6, 5, 5, 6, 2, 4, 4

So no sprite for me and I need to resist the fading of 6S: 1, 6, 6, 2, 6, 6, 3, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 1.

Okay new plan after I see what happens with the gremlins.

It's not unknown to find vans with elaborate murals spray painted on the side, usually something trippy as heck. I'm still around and finally getting a post out, by the way.

This one right here. Nothing super specific; maybe a Rush album cover if you wanna get that specific. It's a bit of an in joke with my group of friends since we're all fans of both Archer and 80's music.

Probably won't matter, but I love adding lots of detail to the IC!

Sounds good to me. I don't think that one has been used yet anyway.

This open-world concept seems interesting, particularly for shadowrun.. I'd be interested in participating, if there is room. What sort of procedures do I need to follow to join?

Always room (within reason) and we can slot you in... Through the Looking Glass is about 60% complete I'd guess but a reasonable time for a new PC to join as they've just escaped the corp facility (well, perhaps anyway ork.gif)... Tribes could also do with a boost as Vegas can't post much and I haven't had time recently...that's Street Scum (or sum to 6) level, TLG is normal runner level. Just post a PC concept, some background and stats here in the OoC and we'll work on how to slot you in!

Alright, thanks! Got company coming over today, but will get on that tonight biggrin.gif

I tend to lean towards stealthy non-magical sorts, if that helps any. I still need to get fully familiar with 5th edition rules as well.

Some Tribes rolls:

Cam Shotgun: 6d6h5: 2 [6d6h5=1, 4, 4, [6, 4], 5, 2] 2 hits for fish in barrel! Defiance T-250 [A4(5), 10P, -1AP, SS/SA, 5(m)] ...on widest choke setting it should be a relatively good AOE attack

Silkie will use suppressive fire on one side of the chamber (to avoid hitting Steamer)...if she's lucky she'll have chosen the side that has more magic users!

But quicker seems better than giving the opposition a day to get organized.

I supposed this could set up horrible double ambush both in the matrix and in meatspace, but at least the hackers will be in their element...

Anyway, answering eTher's request for a meet proposal will obviously fall into LeFey or PsyOp's territory.

I am thinking Jan and Al watch the meat, but if for whatever reason you think Al would be needed online, well, I'll go where I'm told...

Hmm, that Citadel place seems good, but I think I'll throw an area knowledge roll for the Seattle matrix and see if I can't think of somewhere better that would be hard to set an ambush up in that we can also get into right now.

So I come up with 2, 2, 4, 6, 6, 3, 3, 1, 5, 3, 5, 6. 5 hits on that roll.
