Thanks bud, shes still super cranky and not wanting to sleep but the fever broke an the antibiotics seem to be doing their job. Been nearly a year and still am amazed at how time consuming (in a good way) parenthood is.

It hasn't got easier in 3 years (although we have 2 boys) nyahnyah.gif

A) If need be, I can probably run that vehicle too come SHTF time. I'm thinking that if things really go badly, the extraction probably looks like shooting our way out - I crash the Bulldog in through the fence, release the combat drones to cover everyone, and bring the other two vehicles in and position them for people to use as cover before getting in and getting the hell out of there.

B) The other issue is that I'm gonna lose contact with any drones I have on the inside - probably the Kanmushi. Gonna need it to have instructions set for what to do if contact is lost; it's got the autosofts to run on it's own for what you guys need if need be, and it could sneak out to make contact quite effectively if it had to - but that plan would take some serious time.

A - I think you asked a question (that I forgot to respond to) about loading your Steel Lynx in your van along with your 'crew' - it's the size of a small car so I'd say one or the other, not both...less bothered about the rota drones as they could be suspended from the ceiling (just don't start them up when you've got warm bodies inside ork.gif)

B - the wifi bridge is intended to allow you to keep contact with your drones once they are inside the deadzone...

Thoughts if not too late...
Consider Nikki drives herself into the facility (for extra seating on the way out) with ruse of checking it out for a family member currently living in France. Nikki's heard that this is the best facility, so the family would rather move her Aunt Theresa to UCAS/Seattle for treatment. While inside, Nikki can monitor the comm situation with having to check her's frequently for work, etc. If it goes down, she can quickly excuse herself and begin to ensure that everyone is still able to complete their tasks and help where needed.

Will comms work inside, but just not communicate to the outside without the bread crumbs?

Can we get something like that set up in time? Nikki is then not directly involved onsite, but is much closer to help extract the additional people. If everyone can arrive in the HVAC van, some can leave with her. Would the car be inpsected at the gate? Would I be able to conceal handguns and keep the heavy weapons in the car for quick pickup?

Otherwise, Nikki's car would be not to far from the entrance, across the street. If I remember correctly, there are a few homes nearby, so Nikki can be in the car part of the time "consider whether or not to buy a house in this area."

It does make sense for the more technical character to handle outside comm control too.

Visiting a patient is one thing...you'd probably be taken to the admin building. Checking it out for a prospective patient would probably be the same thing...they seem suspiciously reluctant to let anyone near their patients (and that's the ones you do know about 'aboveground'...)

Assume any vehicles will be scanned by UWB radar going in, along with chem sniffers etc. You have time to set up smuggling compartments but probably only for small stuff! The HVAC van has more scope for hiding big kit like ARs etc

All walls have wifi inhibiting paint so LOS or breadcrumbs are needed to maintain comms. Just as well you have lots of RFID tags biggrin.gif

So I've finally got back to posting in CoP. Do Johnny and the Baron know about the General? I assumed not. We also don't know of Gemeaux's purpose I don't think, though I'm trying to gain more information on that to give us something to work towards.

Ryl will (when I get round to writing some IC, which is looking a bit gloomy this week frown.gif) give you some spiel about eggs and baskets... but it would be sensible from an RP point of view to get you all talking together...so, if you don't hear from me, assume she tells you enough to at least establish which is her team and which the foe are...

My kids were basically what took me off these very boards once upon a time.

Four years on and I am just getting back on - one character, no GMing - and it is not because they got less time-consuming, I am just finally learning to cope better!

And they are the best thing in my world.

A - There's actually rules for that - every 250kg of cargo takes up one seat. There aren't guidelines I can find on drone weight, though, so I suppose we'd need an estimate on that (5 seats, which is everything but the driver's seat, would be 1.25 tonnes of cargo). I can also fit 9 sests worth of stuff or people if I take a hit to Speed and Handling.

B - That was in reference to plans being made for if the bridge went down. Speaking of, is it possible to set commands for a drone to follow if the bridge goes down?

Just working out drone positioning and availability, basically. I've got two of the Fly-Spies; do we want one inside the facility? They're small, though certainly more noticeable than my other recon drone (-2 concealability versus -6, described as being the size of a large insect), and it could be handy.

@justkelly: I thought the IC thread was meant to be starting when the run was already underway? Did I miss some sort of addendum along the way?

Yes, but I thought Nikki would be a bit fretful over the different type job this is for her, so I added a prelude. I didn't mean to step on toes; dated two days in advance of the run post.

re:internal fly spys would be great to follow the internal group and/or watch over the external security office.

@group
Do we want another vehicle on the inside? If so, with the group or just available in some manner like I had been suggesting?

I just wanted to be sure that I didn't miss anything in my attempts to catch up with the planning.

As for the Fly-Spies, I have two; any thoughts on best positioning? Flying drones would be good for reestablishing contact, too.

Hey everyone,

At this point, I think I am going to bow out. My work schedule has gotten significantly more hectic than when I first expressed interest, and I am already heavily involved in another pbp.

However! Feel free to use BOLO as an NPC or DMPC, perhaps one who is immediately killed (that'd be a good way to kick things off!) Seeing as how he's the only one who knows anything about HVAC repair, that could be very interesting...

Thanks,

I'm already looking into option for when she is in those years. I think cryogenics, temporary comas and a few other options may be viable ways to circumvent those years. If not a healthy drinking problem and a small investment in firearms.

@LG I've decided to roleplay LeFey's lack of a Paragon. And if it's okay, I'm assuming she's acquainted with Collot. Mordred would have introduced them after bringing the guy over to his new home, if he had the chance.

And is the host for the facility clearly visible?

Yes, I assumed you knew Collot.

The public host is clearly visible. Inside, the work host is visible as soon as you make a hardwired connection to it (easy enough through any of the kit in the ceiling or by hacking a lock device or similar down below...). It is woefully utilitarian, houses maintenance info, drone scheduling and you can see patient records if you are in a 'staff only' room. You'd need the relevant marks to access patient info. Assuming you get them, you find none of the names you were sent here to find...but then there is no evidence of the basement here (which you now know to be there...) so perhaps that is where they are lurking???

@Tribes: I've messaged DeltaJuliet, hopefully we'll hear from her soon otherwise I will assume she takes you up on your generous offer of salvation and we can move things on to the Mall...

@LG: this is a copy of a previous post, thought I would bring it up to the front of the Thread so people could refer to it easier if they needed to.

Just thought I would make a brief listing as people deploy themselves within the building. I am also tracking whatever roles people are currently engaged in.

So whenever you guys have a chance, choose your starting location and whatever role you may be in and I will add it to the list biggrin.gif

Interior Role | Deployment:

Bolo (NPC): Infiltration/HVAC Specialist
Lefey: Comm Control/ Lead Hacker | CIC (Central Interior Command post)
Lany: Physical Security/ Backup Infiltrator, Mole Protection, and Patient #1 search | CIC
Ali: Magical Infiltration, Framing the Doc, and Patient #2 search
Violet: Magical Detection, Security, and Patient #3 search

Exterior Role | Deployment:

Nikki: Extraction Specialist | Outside the North perimeter
Al: Sniper Cover/ Evac Driver | Outside the North perimeter fence
Wreck: "One of the sams waiting outside..." | Outside North perimeter fence
Overdrive: Comm Control/ Drone Support/ Evac Driver | Outside the North perimeter fence

Perhaps a final summarization of the plan is in order?

1) Get inside the Facility disguised as HVAC crew.
2) Locate the patients we have been advised to extract.
3) Frame doctor for medication theft.
4) Once everyone is in place, set off the Hazmat Ruse
5) Insert the Mole disguised as another HVAC crewmember in place of the patient we are extracting.
6) Get Out?

Anyone who wants to help define this list is welcome, this is just what I recall off the top of my head.

Interior roles-

Tracking Patients- I think one patient each for Lany, Ali, and Violet, with the one designated to find the Mole's patient providing babysitting for the switch. I will keep the Mole with Lany and LeFey at the CIC until we are ready to pull the actual switch.

Interior Security and Support- Lany is running physical security on the inside, and will be stationed at the CIC to go provide assistance to anyone who needs it on the interior crew.

Framing the Doctor- Ali, or Lany (all have locksmithing and palming skills necessary)

Escaping the Facility- Violet, Ali, or Lany (depending on how each of their objectives have progressed, can help whoever needs it during evac.

Vehicles- I think we need another vehicle going inside with the HVAC van (which needs to be able to fit 8+; from the inside 5 crewmembers plus up to 3 patients) just to be sure to have the room

HVAC "Hazardous Spill" aka: the Hazmat Ruse- Bolo, Lefey, Ali- this is the measure we will be using to make the switches, calling out an accident with some toxic chemicals that will require part of the facility to be evacuated. We don't pull this until all patients have been located and we are ready to pull the switch for the Mole and the other patient extractions.

Protocols if Comms go down- Good question here justkelly, as the interior and exterior teams will in all likelihood lose contact. Perhaps a simple beacon from the inside could send a visual signal to one of Overdrive's Drones on overwatch if we need extraction.
-the outside contacting the inside after comms go down would need to be much more overt for us to have a chance of noticing it while inside the facility- a series of flares, sound blasts from a siren or megaphone? Suggestions could be useful for this point

@Always Overkill - thanks for putting all this together!!!

* I would concur that Wreck is no longer with us, at least as a player.

* Is justkelly going ahead with her plan to take her car in, posing as a prospective client? If so, then she is not north of the fence, but is indeed the additional vehicle you are suggesting we have inside.

* Although I am guessing the outside team is going to end up having to go in, Al doesn't know that, and I am sticking with my previously stated starting position of the tree just north of the fenceline, with some pre-cuts in the fence.

* I am going to leave mention of vehicles out of my first IC until I confirm the location of the Bulldog. If it is positioned to crash the fence, then my truck will be on the nearest street. If not, then my truck will be off road concealed by trees in the crash-the-fence position.

in the time between meeting the team and starting the run, Al will have legally purchased

Wire cutters
Microtransceiver

Hacking (5) + Logic (5) + Specialization (2) + Codeslinger (2) + Hot-Sim (2) -2 for Silent Running = 14d6

5, 4, and 5 hits.

Again, for laziness and my sanity could people please post rolls like this:
14d6.hits(5) → [3,6,1,6,5,1,1,4,2,3,3,1,6,5] = (5)
14d6.hits(5) → [4,3,1,2,5,6,5,3,4,4,1,2,6,2] = (4)
14d6.hits(5) → [1,2,1,4,5,5,4,5,1,1,4,6,6,1] = (5)
Makes adding and subtracting D that much easier!

Noise isn't an issue as I'm assuming you are directly connecting to the host via a peripheral slaved device...and you are 'inside' it anyway. For clarity and 'learning the rules' I'll start by giving you more behind the scenes info than normal, that way we can each spot errors, judgement calls etc...

Host Rt 6, hack-on-the-fly resisted by INT+Firewall, 10D = 2 hits, 3 hits, 2 hits...so you have 3 marks and an Overwatch score of 7 so far... so, you can enter the host with a complex action...

The whole Forum was down, don't have the whole story myself. I am sure someone will regale you with the harrowing tale.

As far as you going in to meet with Execs inside the facility; it doesn't seem like Nikki has the requisite social skills in her repartee, and could risk raising suspicion inside the facility.

Too much risk for too little gain, in my humble opinion.
