He just wanted to experiment with it to make a more fluid exchange between people. First you warn us its happening so we dont warp ahead of you and then you write up a coversation and PM it to Adamu or put it in spoilers. Then he writes in some crap which either requires more responses from you or finishes the conversation and then somebody posts the whole conversation.
It looks like Adamu would have to start the conversation with the guys reply and then send it/spoiler it to you.

Thanks for summing that up, Abbandon. Hit the nail on the head.
The only thing I would add is that it is NOT intended to be used all the time. Usually, regular posting will do.
The two best times to use it are
A) Like BlackHat just did, where no one is really waiting on him so it's cool if it takes extra time.
B) When there is going to be a heated exhange like an argument or maybe a fast-paced negotiation, in which case duelling monologues comes off as pretty weird.
No need for anything special in this case - I think things will go fairly smoothly given the show of strength, Fort's reasonable assurance the guy will get his place back, and the fact that he can feed his family for a month on that money.
See IC.

Can we get a general description of the room, Adamu?
adamu
Jun 6 2007, 10:20 AM
Same layout as the one Cerberus explored (kitchenette off to left of entry, main room, two small bedrooms, and a bath).
Electricity working right now. Water not.
Place has been kept infinitely cleaner than anywhere else you've seen here in Hotel Hell. But carpet and walls are still permanently stained, and the whole place smells of cat urine.
Table, two rickety chairs (not troll-sized), and some sleeping mats (not troll-sized) are all the furnishings there are. Only thing working in the kitchen was a hotplate, but they took that with them.
Windows half-assedly boarded up.
Door lock gone, but the guy had rigged up a pretty sturdy steel bar on steel hooks to keep the door shut (door opens inward).

@adamu. I found out something while playing with my wiki which makes up for me not rolling for my bad luck qaulity sometimes and othertimes forgetting some mods. I never included the reaction bonus from my wired reflexes. I was like ok this affects my initiative and the nmber of IP's and thas it. But I should have had 2 extra dice to all my defense tests since they were installed lol.
Oh well. But if you notice a jump in the dice I roll for defense thats why. The only other thing reaction affected on cerberus was his piloting skill of groundcraft which he hasnt used. If you want to double check things you can check out his wiki's character sheet and mechanic page.
Thank god I jumped in on "Down in the gutter" or I would probably have never noticed lol. I was like why do these guys have attribute numbers in parethesis?

Afraid all venturing out into the barrens will have to be played out.
You can kick your search off with either an IC or OOC post of heading out. Would be helpful to me to know whether you are planning on taking advantage of the cuisine in the stalls nearby, or looking/asking around elsewhere in this neighborhood, or maybe taking the van back to Bargain Basement? Or whatever...
pragma
If you are ONLY going to the van to look for rope, in the interests of speed we will quick-resolve that. Okay, yes, there is about a hundred feet of nylon rope, but no other climbing gear.
As a general rule, though, people, all forays into the big bad world will get played out IC.

Jun 7 2007, 04:30 AM
Sledge is intending to walk down the stairs, get her bike out of the van, while doing a standing pop wheelie jump might be fun, I think it might be less risky to find a suitable plank or board to roll it down, and then taking off for those lit buildings and civilization she noticed a ways back on entering the neighborhood.
Locking the van back up of course.?
I suppose I cna post till getting the van open and rolling the bike out, I assume that at least is a point where the posse can choose to interact again.

I made up some crappy floor layouts for the hotel. There wasnt very much detail as to what went where and stuff. Also the sizing of the room is probably WAY off but Adamu can tweak the numbers, like making the hallways somewhere around 100-150 meters long.
I also gave the rooms on our floor atleast designations which Rocky could edit into his post so Sledge knows exactly where we are.
3A = us
3I= drug lab
3K= cybered dude.

Thanks, dude. As usual, that's one karma point for map support.
A lot of things are off from my description, but that is not really important. What is important is that if something ugly happens, we will all have a common tactical reference point, which is a huge help.
The one thing I think is important for you to change, whenever you have time, is that the chained fire escape door should be at the opposite end of the hall from the main stairwell, down by the cyber guy.

Ok, I have an important question for you guys. How long are we going to be sticking around here at this dump?

If he grabbed ahold of the handle like grabbing a bar or something, that's exactly what would happen unless the voltage and amperage was huge. If both the AC Voltage and Amperage(more important of the two) were high enough, he would have shot off the van like an explosion had happened.
With a low enough amperage (current) your muscles would tweak down and lock up, like in the post you just did. This kid is dead unless someone bothers to kick him loose. You touch him without some inertia (Flying Tackle, side kick) in this wet condition and you're going to fry just like him as your own muscles lock up.
BTW, I work around voltage up to and higher than 40 kV Kilovolts. At that range, you get exploded off whatever zapped you, even at a low Amp level.
Normal tazers have a high voltage (10kV) but low amperage to keep the target stunned but alive. Something like 9 Milliamps is enough to kill a person, depending on voltage and exposure.

@konsaki/anyone else
Theoretically...Cerberus would like to be holed up till Wednesday 15:42:40. That would be 25 hours from now. That would let him get in a physical heal roll. I'll still have wounds by then though. if Sledge assists me with medicine or maybe on my own i might be able to get down to a -1 modifier which would be pretty good.
Cerberus would get to roll 12 dice which if Adamu allowed could be traded in for 4 auto successes or something which would put him at 3 wounds and -1 mod.
--------------------------------------------------
Bahahahaha at the crispy critter. Shouldnt the spray paint have also like burst into flames or something??
@adamu Will work on moving the fire escape door. What else did i get wrong out of curiosity.

Ok, did some review to make sure I had my #'s right.
Rocky currently has -4p and -0s damage.
From what I found magical healing has been done so I will need to heal that naturally.
Due to Rocky's High Pain Tolerance he is not at a penalty currently.
For healing he needs sleep, like Cerberus he needs a full days rest, which will get me a 18 dice minus any penalties we have for location. Buying hits would be a good way for me to go as well.
So I think hanging here for 24 - 28 hours will let us heal and then move out to catch Louie at the resturant or our doing business.

There's the metagaming level of knowing how much rest you need. Does everyone have an idea IC how much rest they need?
Overall, it does appear that Cerberus and Rocky "feel" like they need a full day to recover?
JDragon
Jun 7 2007, 06:27 PM
While the wounds are different that what Rocky has dealt with in the past, I think since hes a professional fighter he has a fairly good idea of what his body needs most of the time.
I don't think he know's for sure if he will be a 100% with a full days rest, but he knows his body heals fast and that he's not in horrible shape right now.
I think Cerberus is going to be in a similar situation due to his time with DocWagon and doing the fighting.

I'm out for one day and you guys post the hell out of this thread.
On that note, I'm going to be busy graduating/moving/wrangling family for the next few days so posts will be sparse. Fort was planning to try to set up some kind of escape mechanism with the rope, but dealing with the Posse in some sensible manner is probably more important at the moment. Fort will lend a hand if requested and may summon a two hour watcher to scream at folks who approach the van (if requested.)
@team RE: Rest
Fort just knows that he needs to crash for a while and has no IC idea of how long that should be. Given one day's rest there's a chance that he'll wind up with no wound modifiers. However, he'll probably need to keep dealing with the brushfires that crop up while living in the Barrens. If I get him down to no stun then I'll be satisfied.

Hey Konsaki - that electricity stuff was very cool. Thank you.
I sort of see a big part of GMing as balancing "the way things really are" with "the simplified and abstracted way we actually play to keep things managable."
Contributions like that really help me with the first half of that equation (although electricity is a WAY unbalancing weapon in the RAW already - not likely to actually change those rules to make them deadlier!).
And thanks to Abbandon for fixing the map. Very helpful as always.
DireRadiant - IF you choose to attempt reason with the gang leader type - you will need a good IC pitch AND some die rolls to have a chance - he is obviously pretty hostile.

Okay...
Tough one, but..
Sledge will lift the already dead ganger up, toss/put/place him against the vans electrical discharge plate, and hold him against it protecting herself from the discharge by using her sledgehammer handle to prop him up against it. Hopefully serving as a basic insulator.
Lifting?
Str + Bod = 12
5 hits 6 3 1 4 4 1 5 1 5 2 5 6
60 + 50 kg hopefully enough for a carry.
Sledge will hold the ganger up, and glare at the older hostile ganger and say slowly, "Where can I go to get a couple of cases of cold brews for you fine upstanding men? Must be thirsty work standing out here."
Int 4 + cha 3 = 7 + or minus situational modifiers, so adjust as needed.
2 hits 5 2 6 1 2 3 3

DireRadiant [ Spoiler ]
Ah - the GM sees the imaginary world one way, the player another, and then no one is having fun. Been there done that - the perennial RPG problem.
Since we both simply made an honest misinterpretation of the IC posts, there are two ways we can do this -
1) I have no problem with you going back and editing your last IC post so that after you "check his vitals" you do not immediately start talking about getting beers.
Once you see he is dead or near it, you can then immediately launch into the stuff you just spoilered, or whatever you would rather have done, and I will adjust my subsequent IC.
2) We can just bite the bullet and press forward, in which case you are free to IC post based on the spoilered proposal, and I will IC the gangers' response.
Either way, the ganger is little and malnourished, and you can do what you want with him.
And as for Sledge not getting shocked - I will confess I have only a basic high school knowledge of this stuff - we will assume that whatever you do, Sledge's strong Industrial Mechanic skill lets her know how to keep from getting zapped.
So it is now for you to either edit or make a continuing IC post.

No problems with continuing on, it just made it a bit of a challenge to figure out how to react. I can always go with Sledge thinks he so dead nothing can be done, so she simply missed the possibiity of revival. She only has a skill of 1 anyway. I can think of it as a glitch!
