Interested in negotiation again.
I'm not really sure what a reasonable price to offer is, since I don't really know what bells and whistles it has (besides smartlink) but I'm sure my character isn't either, so that's fine. Hopefully he thinks I do, and believes that I have some idea what he paid (which I don't). In the end, if he out-negotiates me, that's fine, but I would like the ammo (at LEAST a clip) and something to hide this shit in. biggrin.gif Something I can wear or strap to the bike, ideally.

Charisma (6) + Negotiation (4) + Edge ( 8 ) ( leaving 1 of 8 - hope we win soon) = 18 dice

Left my last post open-ended so you can do what you want.

Talk more with Perkins, cool.

Leave, cool.

If you leave, I don't know what else you may want to do. But you are free to IC yourself to Sledge's phone call the next day, as far as I'm concerned.

But do let me know if you need anything.
BlackHat
Okay, working on an IC post. Should cover the time up to Sledge's call, and probably the subsequent drive out to the gas-station or wherever it is we're meeting. biggrin.gif We'll all be on the same timestream again, guys!

Truck stop at the end of the Idensitech run.
BlackHat
Yeah, saw that when I went to go IC post. Good times. Good times.
adamu
Well, looks like everyone is back in real-time, free-to-post mode!
BlackHat
Yeah, who wants to IC their arrival at the truck stop? I don't mind doing it, but don't want to fast-forward yo uguys there if there was anything you wanted to do or talk about on the way. If one of you guys'd rather do it, feel free to have 'Mr. Johnson' already be there.
DireRadiant
I've never had a major problem with out of sequence posts. If someone else posts "ahead" of where I am IC, all I need to do is simply make sure my own IC post doesn't do anything to contradict that post, and that's often simple enough.

I'd rather have some posts to encourage and inspire everyone else to post, and given that Adamu has allowed that we can arrive at the meet, I don't see any major problem with skipping through to that point.

Even if I post IC, that post itself is bound to jump someone else's timeline anyway, so it's intrinsic to the medium.
JDragon
Theres a small something to get us started on our way.

The info search just hit me as I was typing the IC up. I don't have my book with me so I'm not 100% on what roll/s I need.

I'll look it up tonight and it to the post once I know what, if anything I find.
Or Adamu. if you just want to make the rolls and give me the basic's then I can do the IC or how ever you like. At this point its just fluff and should not change Rocky's immediate plans for the day.

Thanks

Well, you've got Browse 2 and have to default from 4 Logic, so five dice, and I added 2 more cuz it's a pretty easy, straightforward search.

Within five minutes, you find that
* The manhunt is still ongoing
* Your picture is all over the trid, etc. - as if it needs to be, since you were kinda famous. The pictures are starting to include projections based on facial hair and simple plastic surgery (they are getting pretty close to your current, bearded appearance)
* Your parents are pretty much under media siege at their house - news vans are always camped out in front, and your parents aren't making any comments.
* All the people in your entourage are under investigation for their involvement in the scandal, and face possibly losing their licenses to work in the boxing industry.
* Moves to freeze all your funds met with consternation as your accounts were found to have been cleaned out (by Skinny, you HOPE).

Any other specifics questions, let me know.
JDragon
Perfect thanks.

Will get that in to my post soon.

Absolutely great to see you guys moving forward.

Couple of small things.

BlackHat, it is going to take you a heck of a lot longer than ten minutes to get from the U District up to the truck stop at the north end of the 'plex.

Since I know you guys want to achieve a lot tonight, I am going to be picky about time.
Could I get you to please move your timestamp of to 1700ish, and then Abbandon, if you could adjust yours accordingly?

Also, Abbandon, you are not meeting him at the bus stop. It is a truck stop that the rest of the team hasn't been to. It's not a huge deal, but best to clear up points of possible confusion now before they lead to misunderstandings.

Hate to pick nits - the posts have been great, and I am happy to see everyone in the same place and ready to work.
Abbandon
Roger Roger. I thought i read that we were meeting him at the place we had left him. I did get confused when people were talking about a truck stop. I didnt know if you guys were talking about the bus stop or the gas station where we ran into the fbi lol.
BlackHat
Will reply tonight. Going out to dinner in a sec though.
BlackHat
Working on a long-winded post. Hoping people will hold their questions or comments until the end, but if anyone feels the need to outburst, just post where, and I don't mind back-editing the speech to handle it. You'll totally kill the moment, though. wink.gif

Edit: Took a couple of liberties. Don't mind editing those out either.
Abbandon
I think Konsaki is very bogged down at the moment. Adamu might want to answer for him or atleast ask Konsaki if he will be able to respond. If your gonna have Angel blow up at Smith again wait till after we get the bags =P.
Konsaki
It's going to be another 12 hours or so before I can write up a response, plus I have to think about everything that's happened in game. Sorry for the wait.

BlackHat

Cool post. Glad to have you back with the team before your BIG DAY in RL.

Two things - you might appease the GM with a tiny edit in your big post - although we largely glossed over it, I am sure Sledge arrives on her bike, so she wouldn't be "emerging" from the van.

Also, I expect to maybe be making a few posts for Smith over the next week or so while you frolic and cavort with your bride - can't say exactly how the next little bit of RP will go, but would like your general intentions vis a vis staying with the team or ditching them again.

Feel free to PM me with that if you want. Or OOC or even IC are fine.
DireRadiant
Ok, had to attend a couple day long thingies. I'll try and get a IC post in later today.
BlackHat
Okay, now I really am out of town getting married. Stole a few minutes away on the comptuer. if it happens again, I'll probably jsut post OOC or pass a note to Adamu rather than IC so I don't step on his toes. Be back in two weeks.

As far as recognizing Louie, I might need Adamu's help here. its been like a day for Johnson, but almost a year for me. biggrin.gif I can't recall if he've ever seen Louie, know what he looks like from his organized crime knowledge skill, or maybe even have no clue who he is. I double-checked the initial post where Franco filled me in on the job (I've referenced it a couple times in the past to see what Johnson might know), and there wasn't any mention of him passing along any files or photos or anything. I vaguely remmeber doing a background data-search on him (I used to do those a lot) and getting general info about Rudolphos, but I don't have time (or desire, and I don't expect you to, either) to search through the 100s of pages of IC posts between then and now.

I'm cool with ruling it either way, feel free to roll knowledge checks for me and let me know the results, maybe. Otherwise, if I didn't do a search, I'm sure Cattie is more than capable of doing that. That's always been the nice thing about big-shot mob guys, they want everyone to know who they are. biggrin.gif
Abbandon
If Adamu is nice he could let Cerberus have had taken pictures of Loui and Angelo with his cybereyes. I didnt ever say i had done so and its a stretch to back edit that i did it. On another note Cerberus's standard operating procedure is to now take snapshots of all people he deems important, friend and foe alike. That includes Smith and all my fellow runners.
adamu
I definitely recall a major data search on Louie by Angel, and if BH says he did one too, I absolutely believe him. Either would have turned up plenty of good photos of both Louie and Angelo, along with various other mob figures and Rothstein as well.

So no problem on pix.

Abbandon, yeah, would have been better to say so then. But there are lots of pix anyway.
And your new SOP is noted - from now on, pix of anyone you deal with in the shadows or other significant people - obviously will include any NPCs you interact with on the IC thread.

Planning

Well, this is that difficult part of forum gaming where you have to make, and implement coordination of, a relatively elaborate plan based on a number of changing variables.

I certainly encourage ICing this planning for purposes of RP. But since you all are in easy contact with one another, please feel free to use OOC or PMs to make your plans. You can go over a lot more information and in a much more organized manner OOC, and I encourage you to use it.

One point of information you all know is that you can figure AT LEAST a 30 minute drive from this truck stop to Rudolpho's - AT NIGHT. Right now around rush hour figure on at least 60, and that's generous since you'll be going INTO town.

As with the last week or so, you may not hear much from me, as this phase is all on you guys. But you know I'm here six days a week for info requests or anything else.

BlackHat's Honeymoon

Okay, our face is now in the midst of nuptial bliss - congratulations again, dude.

He has left me basic parameters for Smith.

As you all can see from the last IC, he is on board to follow the directions of tactical leader Sledge.

That means DireRadiant can basically "call" for Smith as long as its nothing silly. I also will jump in and run Smith if that needs to happen to keep things moving.

And it goes without saying that should BH find his way to a computer we will welcome an update on his actions and intentions.

My impression (Sledge's IC dialogue can take some puzzling out at times - another reason I am encouraging some OOC planning) is that Sledge wants Smith to separate from the group and go watch Rudolpho's??? If so, Dire can post that or I will, once a few details are sorted out.

As for what Smith needs from the team, it appears that everyone has chimed in IC and accepted the basic deal to continue.
What I haven't heard is whether Cerberus is going to take the Y5K and then have to give the LMG back at the end of the run, or just keep the weapon as his payment (or suggest a third option?).
Would be good to hear from you IC on that one, Abbandon.

The LMG is exactly as you left it, Abbandon, including the gyro-mount and all your computer/smartlink whatever-all. Except that the gun comes with just one 50-round clip of standard ammo.

The other toys are, specifically, 2 Remington 990 shotguns per book, standard sized, and a box of 50 shotgun flechette (buckshot) cartridges. There are also 6 latex mask disguises, the computerized ones from the book. Two of those are troll-sized.

Smith also promised the Y5K up front and in cash to anyone that wanted theirs now. Take it if you want, but please clearly mention that you do IC or OOC (preferrably both) so that BlackHat can keep track of his money and obligations.
DireRadiant
Busy. I need to clear some stuff off my to do list. Probably not till Friday will I post IC.
adamu
All good - RL happens to the best of us.

Very much appreciate you letting us know.
JDragon
Rocky will wait till the "job" is done to get his cash. He'll also be giving instructions privately to get the cash to Skinny for his parents if he doesn't make it.

Planning
I think we should stick with the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid)

Johnson tag Louie, someone track him.

When he gets to a "pick-up" we cut communications and hit him hard, fast & up close, so we know that its done right.

And barring kids/non-com's being in the building no one but our team walks out alive.

JD

Abbandon
What bag did Sledge pick up?? Sorry Black but Im gonna have Cerberus take the 5k right now. If he survives this he will need the money to get a place to live. I will try to buy back the gun asap though.
DireRadiant
Shotgun and shells.
Abbandon
I thought I read johnson had picked up a bag and Sledge had picked up one so i dont know if I can pick up a third lol. I dont know why Sledge would want to carry a bag on the back of her bike anyways.

These are my assembly tests for my IWK. Im including 2 different tests. One is strict by the book rules of using armory to reassemble it. I believe thats more for building something from scratch or fixing stuff thats broken by having to make new parts reshape stuff. The second test is gonna use heavy weapons which i feel should encompass how to play with the butons on weapons, clean them, strip them apart, reassemble, clear jams. All your basic knowledge on how to use the gun.

I guess I will roll acouple of these for an extended test?

Armor 0 + logic 4= 3 dice
1, 3, 3 = 0 hits
3, 2, 3 = 0 hits
2, 1, 5 = 1 hit
1, 5, 6 = 2 hits

Heavy Weapons 4 + Logic 4 = 8
2, 1, 2, 1, 6, 3, 3, 1 = 1 hit
5, 1, 5, 3, 6, 1, 1, 2 = 3 hits
5, 5, 4, 5, 5, 3, 6, 5 = 6 hits
5, 2, 5, 2, 1, 1, 5, 2 = 3 hits
adamu
Abbandon

Cleaning and other maintenance falls under Armorer.

But operating the weapon within its standard parameters includes breakdown and reassembly, so you use the second set of rolls.

You get the thing reassembled and ready to go in about nine seconds.
DireRadiant
I'm busy, so if anyone wants to IC us leaving the meet and moving us along to the next phase is fine by me.
pragma
I'm going to be gone until August 19th.

Fort is going to run overwatch and try to follow Louie astrally and will provide a watcher for Johnson to talk into and a watcher to follow the van and give it directions.

If he corners Louie, he plans to summon then sic a force 6 beast spirit with venom and natural weapon on him.
JDragon
Pragma,

I don't think the van is designed where the trolls can fit in the front seats.

Need to confirm with the boss man though.

If I'm wrong Rocky will be happy to drive. (i may even have some skills in it) Unless Cerb is better.

JD
Abbandon
Cerb is a pretty awsome driver now that he has healed. Should we all agree to freeze this game for awhile now that we are like 3 people down?
DireRadiant
QUOTE (Abbandon)
Should we all agree to freeze this game for awhile now that we are like 3 people down?

I just don't have time to write out big IC posts or track as much what's happening. I think we know what the general plan is, and we just have to get going and see what we find out. I don't have a problem if it's the active people posting IC.

As far as I remember we intend to disguise ourselves, move to the area, but not into or near Rudolpho's, wait for Sugar Lips to finger Louie, then Fortunato starts tracking him, keepign us informed, and possibly Angel can track him too. We start following or even better if we can anticipate where Louie goes, we set up a little encounter, take care of business, and then find another place to hide.

For the encounter I figure Cerberus stops Louie's car if necessary, Angel runs interference and matrix overwatch (Also an option for controlling Louie's car), Fortunato runs interference and magical overwatch, and possibly adds a spirit, Sledge and Rocky go in close and clean up. One option is to use the Love Machine to ram Louie's vehicle if needed. Though ideally we want to do this as he's out of the vehicle and paying someone a visit. More targets and mayhem, but less protection for Louie.

Anyway, that's most of the basic options, and we're just going to know what they are and take the target of opportunity as Adamu presents it to us.

Given all that, I don't have any objections if the rest of you actively post along those lines IC if everyone has agreed to this general plan?

I think the next item would be us leaving the meet and then disguising ourselves, and the Love Machine.

Sledge has Disguise 2 + in 2, so 4 dice
1 hit = 3 3 5 4

but some others might have more dice and Sledge can simply do the teamwork test? So add one to your pool if you are doing the Test. I suspect Fortunato might have a bigger pool then Sledge.
adamu
Abbandon - understand your concern about activity, but like Dire, I think an actual freeze is too strong a measure.

No reason people that have a chance to post can't keep roleplaying.
Moreover, with Dire having just summarized your planning so far, no reason the three people active right now can't move things along logistically if they are so inclined.

PbP moves slowly enough - might as well have the players that are in a position to be "active" right now get as much "work" done as possible while some players are having their gaming trumped by RL.

And in a couple of weeks, BH will be back from his honeymoon, pragma will be back online, and hopefully by then Dire's work will have calmed down.

pragma has already put you guys on the road, but I will assume you all did your disguises in the back of the van before leaving. As people get back online, they can OOC me the details of their disguise and the appropriate rolls. Please specify whether you are doing your own or rolling to help another person with a team roll (Dire, I need to know which way you want to go with that).

The van seats are NOT big enough for trolls, so with Fort astral that just leaves Angel....

EDIT - just deleted about half of a post since it was about an IC for you guys leaving the truck stop, but I now see that pragma has already added that to his last post.
pragma - at such time as you get back on line - could you stick just one line or something into your departure post about the team having put on/programmed their masks in the back of the van? Thanks.

Abbandon
Cerb's disguise roll:
disguise 1 + int 4 = 5 dice + any teamwork/help?
4, 6, 6, 4, 3 = 2 hits
adamu
So cool to see concrete progress continuing.

Thanks for the constructive posts, everyone. Thanks for mentioning the disguise thing, Abbandon - so pragma, you are off the hook on that back-edit I asked you to stick in.

So now the five of you are positioned somewhere inconspicuous but in striking distance of Rudolpho's, and Smith/astral Fort are heading to watch the bar itself.

With both of them officially out of contact, I will IC them to that position and give y'all a rundown on what they see.

Abbandon and everyone

As long as people are rolling for Disguise - with these masks, it only takes one hit to make your face unrecognizable, two to actually look like a person, three to look like someone in particular.

So far Sledge's successes are for assisting Fort, while it looks like Cerb did himself and is calling for assist dice.

Sort of a cool scene to imagine - everyone messing about with the computerized latex masks and helping each other out....people with computer skill assisting those without, and so on.

Once JD and Konsaki get their disguise rolls in, if we haven't heard from BH or pragma by then I'll roll for them so we can finalize that.

If people want, don't hesitate to include some mention of WHAT your disguise (hopefully) looks like...

Abbandon

The drive from the truck stop to Juanita, Bellevue in rush hour takes at least half an hour, easily longer, so if you have a chance, it helps keep us organized if time-stamps are for the time the action described is completed.
I know I mentioned that on the other thread - might have forgotten it on this side.
Abbandon
Will edit. How are you coming up with how long drives take? I hate drive posts because of not knowing lol. I just assumed Fortunato bent time and space for us so we could arrive faster hehehe.

You know, we dont actually need Smith on scene to spot Loui. And/Or we didnt even need to give him a description. As long as he has a pair of glasses with image link we can all see what he sees. We could even pay someone to wear some glasses on their person so that we can see everything he see's and we can spot people that way.

Doesn't Loui always come and go from the backdoor of the resteraunt/alley?? Shouldnt Johnson be somewhere he can see the alley?

ADAMU - that's a good question. There's no set formula. But I lived in Seattle for two years, so I just base my guesstimates on personal experience.
For players unfamiliar with Seattle, if you want to take a stab at it, figure about a base half hour from one district to another on an open freeway. Double for avenues/large surface streets. Double for rush hourish times. Anything in the Barrens leave to me.

ADAMU - not sure how much of this is directed at me and how much at the other players. I will stress that my last IC posting of Smith and Fort was in no way a GM endorsement of what they are doing. They both stated intentions to do that, it was the next thing to be done in the stated plan outline, and both those players are on hiatuses. So I moved it forward.

Doesn't Loui always come and go from the backdoor of the resteraunt/alley?? Shouldnt Johnson be somewhere he can see the alley?

ADAMU - No. Cerberus and Rocky will recall that he comes out of his back room where he works, has dinner in the restaurant proper, and then goes to his car out front.

See in-line.

Everyone

Looks like now that everyone is in position it's a waiting thing.

You may all be ready to go. Or you may not.
You may have lots of RP you want to do, or not.
You may have various tactical preparations you want to do, or not.

But to do anything I know you need some idea of how much time you are dealing with. At the same time, I don't want to say when (or if) Louie will take off until he does.

In real time - he will not take off until at least two of our three hiatus players are back on regular status. So all three of you please give a shout out once you want to be considered back to your usual consistent posting rates.

In game time - I have one more IC post to throw out, which I'll probably do within 24 hours (probably much less, actually).
From the time on that post, consider yourselves as having at least one hour, and feel free to post at will for that period.

From there I will continue to give you clear increments periodically, once I figure people have had a chance to post if they want to.
DireRadiant
I'm going to be pretty spotty until after GenCon. Some things I need to get cleared off my plate at work, and otherwise I'll actually be preparing for GenCon, lots of reading to do.

I expect to get a couple short posts in just account for actions during the relevant period. Hopefully.
adamu
All cool -thanks for keeping us posted (pun intended!). We'll be waiting for the others for about that long anyway.

And Konsaki....? You don't want the trolls having all the fun do you.

But negative karma for reminding me of GenCon. Wanted to go to that or Origins for literally thirty years now, but never have made it.
Thinking real hard about flying out next year....

Oh, and on second thought, I'm going to hold off on the IC post I mentioned a few hours ago. It'll need to come later, all things considered.

So for now, assume you all have at least one hour between the end of my last IC post and when anything happens from me.
DireRadiant

Thinking real hard about flying out next year....

It's always a lot of fun.

You can make it easy, defray costs and have lots of fun by offering to GM the SR4 missions, tournament, and other events. You can get the tickets, discount on the rooms (Which get reserved for you!) and on published materials. It can work down to ~$250 for the 4 day stay, plus buying food (And you can always argue you'd be eating anyway).

The big variable expense gets cut down to travel cost and time out of work (for me at least).

I have some con t shirts that my son can now wear from before he was born...

adamu
Very nice advice. I think I'll attend one as a private citizen, though, before presuming to go as a GM. We'll see - saving money would make the Mrs. happy - although she's been totally cool about the idea of me going.

But the big issue is time away from work.

We'll see what happens.
Konsaki
Still busy with work and preparing to move back to the states, will try and write up a post later, but here is my disguise check.

Edit + Computer = 6 dice
6,4,1,1,2,6 - 2 hits
(Somewhere Johnson said these were electronic so I can use edit on mine to make the diguise check.)

Disguise check to make Caittie's hair look different via braiding
Int-1 = 3 dice
1,3,6 - 1 hit
JDragon
Ok, so Rocky has no skills in Disguise so that will be Intuition (3) - default (1) = 2
Roll: 6, 3 = 1 hit

Was I able to get so help on this?

Rocky is going to do the best he can change his appearance and try to look like one of the trolls that was playing guard at the fixers place. (can't remember his name tonight)

JD
adamu
Okay - everyone not on hiatus has rolled for disguise. Coordinating all the individual teamwork combos in PbP would, I understand, be quite post-intensive, so I have done a round-up based on the rolls and intentions you all have provided.

Limiting assists to one helper per disguiser...

Sledge: Sledge assists Fort.Total four successes. Sledge looks like a portly male ork instead of a fit female ork. Dire, you have the option of looking quite like a specific other individual if you want - if so, let me know before Louie leaves his barn.

Caittie: Sledge (because it's another woman and Sledge's pool doesn't suck, and Sledge has a computer skill, which is how Caittie is doing hers) assists Caittie. Three successes, plus the hair is different on top of that. Konsaki, you can look like any sort of elf or human you want. Please let me know, or I will assume you just don't want to look like yourself. You can look a lot like a specific other person if you want - if so, let me know before Louie leaves his barn.

Rocky: Rocky assists Cerberus (who has as big a pool as anyone). Two successes, so Rocky definitely looks different enough to fool a facial recognition scanner, but would not pass for one of Ezekiel Smithers' bodyguards.

Cerberus: Fort assists Cerberus. Two successes. Enough to fool a facial recognition scanner, but not enough to pass for anyone in particular.

Fortunato: Cerberus assists Fort. Three successes. Enough to look like another person. If that is what you want, let me know before Louie leaves the barn.

Smith: Cerberus assists Smith. Two successes. Can't pass for another person, but definitely don't look like self.

Anyone that wants to add fluff/color to their new description, you'll have plenty of time over the next few RL days to fill that in either IC or OOC.
