I'm really going to miss Abbandon.

It's kind of the point of involving other people in games, the unpredictability introduced is what provides nice drama and tension.

@adamu

I'm going to have Caittie pull up the external security camera feeds into her glasses once JD starts asking about a plan. I'm still logged into the building node, so I wont have to waste time loggin back in.

Are there security cameras, what are they labled, and what do I see on the outside?

Matrix Perception test
Computer + Analize + TM Bonus = 8 dice
1,3,6,2,2,6,3,2 - 2 hits

Vision Perception test
Perception + Intuition + Vision Enh3 from glasses? = 6/9
6,5,3,1,3,3 - 2 hits
+ 5,4,4 - 1 hit (Glasses)

I dont know if the vision enhancement from the glasses help when the thing im looking at is a floating AR window through the glasses.

We don't want to disable his headcomm - mostly because I am assuming he uses it to communicated with the office doors, perhaps with Hiro, etc... if he comes in in radio silence, it is going to look suspicious - instead, what Mr. Smith proposes is that someome (don't care if its the hacker, smith, or an agent) sit "in" the guard's head, watching in VR (or AR) and keeping an eye on all of the communications going on. Mr. Smith will offer to handle it - and assures everyone that his other commlink is up to the job - but will point out that he's going to have to be pulling off the performance of a lifetime, as it is, and he'd rather nto be distracted with the additional task of reading through this guy's radio-traffic. If Smith ends up connecting to him, he'll do so with his "good" commlink, after spoofing up some fake data, and obscuring its identity. This will also remind him that after this mission, he intends to transfer his accounts and settings between the two commlinks. Mr. Smith needs a good commlink more than ADam does (who doesn't even have time to play VR games anymore).

I would also suggest that we wire up some data-bomb programs to non-essential functionality (matrix connections) which trigger the explosives. Even if we don't, I will probably tell him we did, to try to keep him from phoning home. He should be able to do everything he needs with ad hoc networking within his signal range (no need to access the actual matrix for long-distance stuff).

It wil lalso be important that we keep the guard tied up and blindfolded durign transit, and only let him go before we exit the van. Everyone else will need to be out of the back (to avoid letting him get a good look at anyone), and Smith should be disguised (via deerwalker's magic) to look liek a japanese man in the same uniform with the same equipment.

Mr. Smith will talk with him the whole way there, keeping him calm, and trying to get as much other information out of him as possible. They will work together to come up with a good fake Japanese name ("Yoshito Satou" or "Satou Yoshito" since he is Japanese... which I think the personal name means like "lucky boy" and the surname is fairly common... liek "Smith") and will have worked out a story... something along the lines of Yoshito being a new parasoft guard recently transfered to Seattle, and this guy is supposed to train him tonight - or something that the prisoner things would fly.

Adam will do hsi best to get other information out of him, like door codes, matrix access settings (account information) etc - although the plan doesn't require Smith knowing this stuff, there is a forecast of a shit-storm, and Adam would like to be ready for it.

DR & BH

He says the traffic stuff has already been covered, and he has already figured that if you they disable the headware comm he would have to tell the hacker. He'll call and explain that, and come back sounding confident as ever that it is being handled.

This part... I think we can disable it if we transfer whatever we need from it to another commlink? For Example Mr Smith can have his commlink Spoof itself as the guards.

But it's probably better to have both guards (Our guard and Mr Smith) have commlinks that respond to active scans. Two "Guards" should display two commlinks.

Sledge doesn't have Data Bomb.

It looks like the best thing is to have the guard have an active commlink, load Sledges Agent onto it, and load Mr Smiths Data Bombs (If he has them). Sledge can subscribe her Agent and be directing it via Command during the Face to Face Sleaze attempt.
DireRadiant
I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Smith is actually a more capable hacker then the terrorist cell's, or that Sledge is somewhat close.
BlackHat
I've got databomb... and a rating 4 agent, but I like the idea of Sledge manning the controls (and she might as well work with an agent program she is familiar with). Not sure (because the rules are unclear) what sorts of DRM stuff would prevent Smith from letting you use his databomb program - but it wasn't that necessary anyways. If we can do it, cool, otherwise, a manual switch is probably better.

It would suck if the guard got an IM and closed the window and blew up while I was within a meter of him.
DireRadiant
Since I don't think we've even made the attempt to "crack" copies IC, the question of multiple copies is moot. Mr Smith certainly hasn't had time to do so, and we aren't going to get it now.
BlackHat
QUOTE (DireRadiant)
I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Smith is actually a more capable hacker then the terrorist cell's, or that Sledge is somewhat close.

Probably. His commlink is pretty pimp, but his skill is only 2... but he can edge it up, so for any given task, he can assure victory... so he's done some somewhat cool things with his commlink in the past, but his odds of reproducing those results are slim. Pretty much going to be the story of his life. biggrin.gif

Adam wouldn't want to go toe-to-toe with a hacker, or matrix security... but against an average system, or a guard... he probably has the upper hand even before his amazing luck kicks in.
BlackHat
Oh yeah, and I suspect that either Deerwalker or Cal will be surprised that the plan has changed directions and that we're now going to put a whoel lot oftrust in this man's will to live. I'm guessing Cal is going to have the good sense not to mention it, and just to roll with it - if not, screw him. He changed the rules on me, so now I'm okay with changing the plan on him.... if Deerwalker brings it up though, Adam will try to play it off as Cal's idea - giving him credit for approving a change in plan due to unforseen complications.

I'm guessing that Sledge will pretty much be able to piece out what was said in Japanese, and so probably won't think that Cal had a whole lot to do with anything - but part of Adam's job tonight, is to make Cal look good. If not in front of random orks, then in front of his girlfriend, and his hacky-sacking pot-smoking friends.
adamu
BH & DR

Cal assures you the hacker is ready to do anything you want with this guy's comm. He's also ready and willing to make Smith's comm broadcast similar ID crap to Teru's. Cal is confident as always that their hacker can handle it - just tell him what you want done.
Cal and Deerwalker will indeed be confused at all that you guys are going ahead and doing, but you are right, while Deerwalker may make noises, Cal wants to succeed, and he can see you guys are the key to doing so. He won't muck with you, and will happily facilitate comms with the hacker - although he won't let you communicate with the hacker directly yourselves.
Assume Deerwalker can do a good job making Smith look however you want - and yes, that's physical mask.
The four hacky sackers are going along.
There are some boxes and handcarts in the van - unmarked, so far unmentioned by anyone.
Let me know anything else you need, but don't be afraid to go ahead and IC up to the jump-off.

Okay, Carl's Coffins sits on the SE corner of a block. That means south and east faces are on a street. No sidewalks, warehouses, workshops, and the kind of retail businesses that only get specialty clientele - theatrical lighting shop, a curling venue (corrugated tin sidings, very low budget), various types of machine/auto parts. Weeds and gravel. Located about three blocks off of a main drag with more high profile businesses.

The north and west faces have a narrow 'alley' of about 2 meters width, enclosed by an L-shaped chainlink fence (2 meters) with thin plastic slats woven through (harder to climb, harder to see through). See above for the types of buildings on the other side of the fence.

The hotel entrance (barely a hallway, facing a bulletproof window that is totally polarized - the place is automated and you've never seen any staff) is on the south face, which is the narrow end. The entry hallway goes right into the stairwell. There is an emergency exit on the north end, out of the other stairwell. Opens into the alley, obviously.

There are four external cameras, labeled north, south, east, west. They are apparently sitting on the corners of the building, and show a view along each face of the building. You get a long view about 2 meters out from the building - nothing outside that. They don't move.
The East camera (faces street) is out.
The West camera shows an empty alley.
The south camera shows lots of people, mostly undressed, streaming out of the building past a confused knot of heavily armed mobsters. Hard to count bad guys, as they move in and out of frame, but at least five near the door.
Same on North, but it opens into alley, so space is a LOT tighter. Mobsters trying to hold positions, but about half of them keep getting swept out by refugees, although the stream of refugees seems to be waning.

OK, Looks like Caittie is going to hack into Angelo's comm, then try and send a text message from his comm to every other mafioso out there except Louie and Angelo himself. Or better yet, if she can only send it to the goons on the north side of the building.

The message will be something along the lines of telling every grunt to move to the south side of the building, and prepare for to 'reward' the trolls. I'm hoping this will get the goons on the north side of the building to abandon their position. If they do, Caittie will shut off the external camera to the south and run like hell, probably with the trolls following her.

What do you think about that for an excape plan, JD?

BH, if you want to post IC getting us to the facility and handling the commlink and stuff go ahead.

Sledge will silently and angrily brood the whole way there, as long as stuff get's handled. She'll take Mr Smith's lead, after all, she's here as an "observer"...

Will do, working on a new post as we speak.
BlackHat
Definatly curious if the plan to get in personal contact wit hthe hacker works or not. Interested in the icon used, as well as if the hacker is willing to respond to anyone who is not Cal.

Also curious about his answer to the inquiry about hte handcuffs and boxes - but we're in this deep enough already that reguardless of the answer, Mr. Smith will probably go along, and settle up afterwards.

As far as I can tell, though, the only reason we would need handcuffs is if we intend to take the guards with us afterwards - which totally goes against the plan Adam was told (the one where no one gets hurt). Mr. Smith will reiterate the plan to Cal along the way, includign the part about letting hte current guard (Hiro) walk away... there is no need to complicate things by jumping him at the door. If Cal insists, Smith won't push too hard on it... he won't like it, but it is probably safer than letting him get home and find out that no one else has heard anything about a new trainee. He will also be sure to mention the "deal" with the current guard - that they're going to knock him out (with his own stun baton, or with Smith's Defiance Ex Shocker) and leave him there so that he is safe and can claim he was tricked or forced into it... whatever he wants to do to save his own job.

Smith took the guys ammo. Not sure what type if pistol it is (although I would like to know), but I intend to leave the ammo on his body once he's knocked out. No use in robbing the guy - as any losses would probably come right out of his next paycheck - assuming he isn't fired over this fiasco.

Lol, I orignally wrote "weeks" but wasn't sure that was accurate. wink.gif Sucks to hear it was days. Doesn't bode well for people he's on a first(fake)-name basis with, and who he picks up from home every day.

Well, they could just all duke it out in the parking lot. biggrin.gif
If there is no one to come after you, then I think you might be safe... No, not really grinbig.gif

Its kinda hard to think of any plans that get me out and keep the trolls in good enough graces that they can just walk away from Louie, because the trolls suck at talking by JD's own words.
I can say that while Caittie can talk normally (4Cha) she doesnt have the skills to fast talk her way out of this. Puppet Master in the digital world, sorta inept in the physical world. Thats how I created my character, and now I'm finding it hard to cope without the right people to fill my flaws. sleepy.gif
Oh well, thats what makes character interaction interesting.
BlackHat
Well, the problem I see with you guys finding that solution is a combination of that facts that Louie
A) Know what Cattie looks like
B) Wants her head
C) Will get upset if the trolls do not produce said head
D) Tends to kill people that upset him

A and B are bad for Cattie, C and D are bad for the trolls, and finding a middle-ground is tough without being able to produce a head that looks like Catties head.

The up-side is that if you can get him to think you are dead, he'll stop looking for you - and has no reason to question if the trolls actually did it or not... of course, it sounds like they're sick of working for him, anyways, so maybe there isn't much point in finding such a magical solution.

Given that they both want "out", and that Louie probably won't take their resignation very well... it sort of behooves them to keep a capable hacker around who is good at things they are not. You guys will all three share the same goal (to get far far away from Louie and his goons).. .and you don't make a bad little team.

Yeah, I think you guys are already going in the best direction.

Dude, handcarts. Like, for the boxes.
So I guess you might want to edit that part of your post. When you ask about the handcarts, Cal says they are for the boxes. When you ask about the boxes, the hippies giggle, which annoys Cal. He looks like he doesn't want to say anything, but he can tell you have really had it with not being told the plan, so "Man, once the animal brothers are clear..." And his hands make a silent exploding gesture.

Sledge took care of the baton. The pistol is a Colt Manhunter.

Cal confirms that the relieved guard will simply be allowed to walk away, while Teru will be taken out of the building and beaten, or whatever. He just reminds you that once you have taken control of the guard booth, that Teru be re-blindfolded or shoved under the counter or something before any of the team enters.

The hacker takes care of anything Cal requests with alarming speed. Your commlink alerts you when he is in your commlink - if you beat him on an initiative test you can spot his icon....

All right dude, there is no need for back and forth on this entry - you guys have thoroughly covered yourselves against every single one of my 'things that can go wrong' plans (at least up to the foyer!). So at the expense of suspense, let's move it along and get pragma into the game.
You march Teru into the big foyer and it's all nice and pretty and all, but there is only one exit out the other side of it, flanked by a tastefully secure guard booth - security chic.
The guy will be surprised, but you can have Teru say whatever you like - that bomb around his neck pretty much gives you the right to run him yourself for now.
Whatever you say will work, and the guard will take off, leaving you and Teru in the booth.

Compile + Hacking rolls
[ Spoiler ]

Decrypt rolls - each roll is a turn
[ Spoiler ]

Ok, the next step will depend on if Angelo is or has connected to the mafia that are to the north or the building. What I want to do is use his log of connections and match them up with the commcodes I can read from the north side of the building. This might reduce the scan time and give me a faster way to sort through them.
Even if I only get 2 or 3 of them, I figure that might be enough to send a message and have them belive that Angelo really wants them to move to the south side, expecially if it came from Angelo's comm itself.
The TN will be based off if they are in Hidden mode or not, and how easy it is to read them in the group of people.

Scan Rolls
[ Spoiler ]

Once I finish comparing all the ones I find on the north side of the building to the list on Angelo's comm, I'm going to send them a silent message (one that Angelo wont see), that says something along the lines of 'get to the south side and prepare for a warm welcome for the trogs'.

Perception test to see if Caittie can see the mafia moving towards the north side via the cameras.
Perception + Intuition + actively looking = 9 dice
4,1,2,3,4,3,3,4,2 - 0 hits
looks like Caittie cant make out anything in the sea of people. >.>

Anyways, while this is all happening, I'm going to have Caittie lead the trolls downstairs to the north side exit, and then turn off the outside cameras.
She is also going to compile a data sprite to clean her data trail in Angelo's comm.

[ Spoiler ]

Ok, now that she has the sprite with 3 tasks to it, she is going to have it do the following things:
1 - Copy Angelo's SIN information to my commlink
2 - Put a time delay action in his commlink - After 2 hours time has past, an automatic purchase will go out and order 5 orders of pizza to all the addresses on his contact list. 5 pizzas * how many people = alot of cash just burned
3 - Clear data trail on his commlink, including account
Once this is done, the sprite will run out of tasks and de-rez.

After all that, I'm pretty sure we will be down by the door and waiting to run out it. biggrin.gif
BlackHat
Ah, I see it. Lol, CARTS... the mind sees what it wants to see...

I won't win initiative. I'm in AR... but its worth a shot I guess
Initiative 7 = [3] [6] [3] [6] [6] [3] [2] = 3 hits, so 10 initiative.

Yay, mundanes. biggrin.gif Its actually more impressive if I don't get a chance to see him - but a shame. a damn shame.

BlackHat

Konsaki

Since sprite glitched, you get extra service. But you used remote service, so that becomes irrelevant.

It takes the crack sprite the full three passes to gain admin access. About the time it does, the node goes on alert. Sprite begins suppression.

Then it takes the sprite one turn to complete the decryption, and another turn to edit the admin account for Dreamer.

One turn of suppression remaining, Caittie is looking at Angelo's phone logs.

Alert goes off. You are out of the node and scanning. First turn of scanning fails, second turn of scanning turns up three hidden commcodes on the north side matching people in Angelo's recent comm logs.

During all this time, I believe you have not been in VR, so you can move - you and the trolls are down on the first floor landing of the north stairwell.

Time to let you post IC to here, and JDragon to do so as well. Cerberus will go along.
Once you get down there, need actions from both of you - especially - Caittie has an admin account on Angelo's comm - but she also is out of it right now, and knows it's been on alert for six seconds. Does she go back in to proceed with the actions you stated?
Ball's in y'all's court now.
JDragon
OK, my next post is up.

@ Konsaki - really sorry I'm not adding a whole lot to the plans, but as you've read Rocky has spent the last 3 weeks running or fighting and it seems to have wasted his brain.

As for my self, I just can't seem to put anything together that I think would even get off the ground. Which is really annoying and not normal for me. I guess I'm stuck on coming up with some way that will clear things a little better with Louie, which is probably just a pipe dream and I need to get past it. smile.gif

JD
Konsaki
Arg...
OK, I'll have Caittie log in, send the silent message, then have the commlink power itself down. The last action should kick Caittie out of the Commlink, but no dumpshock cause she is in AR right now. Also, since she is using a 'Legal' account and performing Legal actions, any IC will have to be manually directed to attack her.
After she is out of Angelo's commlink, she will Spoof her Technomancer Comm ID.
Hacking + Spoof = 6 dice [TN-2]
5,6,3,3,4,3 - 2 hits

This should keep Angelo or anyone else from tracking her via her TM Comm Code, but she has her normal commlink online too, so she will mentally shut it down.

After all this is done, if the mobsters are going to leave the north side, they would have by then. Caittie couldnt see anything using the cameras so she thinks its safe.

Okay, you sent the message, no problem. Nothing tries to actually stop you, but as you AR the node and are making the calls, Angelo's icon (looks just like him, but R4 resolution) come toward you, jerking along like someone that doesn't really know how to handle their icon - but he can talk well enough - "Hey, YOU! You are DEAD, bitch..." and then you shut down his comm, sending both of you offline.

Okay, message sent, but he saw you in there. You guys are all three at the bottom of the stairwell. There are just a handful of people still making their way out. For the moment, you are around a corner out of sight of the doors.

Hopefully I can remember his commcode later on when I'm safe so I can jack with his commlink some more. vegm.gif
I'm going to wait for JD to post something before I post about what happened with Angelo and his commlink.

I'm not too worried about him seeing my icon because it doesnt look exactly like me, like he has his set up. Though like you said, he knows something is up now. I'm pretty sure he will put 2 and 2 together when/if his men come around the building from the back side.

Ok, I know this is probably what you want us doing anyways, but since the north alley way is clogged with people, I'm going to run around to the west alleyway and use that to get away.

Edit: I should know if those 3 commlinks I scanned earlier have moved positions, since they arnt hidden to me anymore.
