Well, we definitely have her full sheet now!
But gee whiz, Dire, if you were going to go to such trouble to accommodate us, you might have included a phrase or two on what you might want to do.
But she can certainly scan the hut - or - better - her agent can.
With eight dice and buying successes it only takes her a minute to identify one active node - a lot of it is open - it seems pretty clear there is a security guard in there. He is single, and likes women with hairy armpits. Send replies to Hirsute Hannibal.

It's a forum game - all we've got is time...
But no -
<puts dour GM face back on> don't take my great bemusement as an endorsement of any particular course.
If you go a more prosaic route, cool.
If you go with BH's idea, I will be more than happy to work with Dire on the scene, but per the earlier discussion, with both of us at the Con, it might be a while before it gets off the ground.
On the other hand, come to think of it, if you did go that route, what would take two weeks on the boards can be resolved in about five minutes face to face, and Dire could come back from the con fully ready to write the whole scene...or I could...whatever.

I guess I always figured being born a troll was like being born with an horrible deformity. You pretty much stop trying after a while.

Actually, this being Shadowrun, its probably worse. If a beautiful woman shows the slightest interest in you, it is best that you shoot her in the face before you find out she's a razorgirl hired to kill you, or nanites pour out of her, or she hatches some sort of Bug Spirit or something. Just kill her and run. It is definitely not your handsome mug earning you that kind of attention. She's either going to kill you, or she's a hooker. Either way. Kill her and run, man.
Hmm. I take that back. This being Shadowrun, there is enough weird shit out there that there probably IS some young hottie (with a particularly traumatizing past) out there looking to hook up with two random violent trolls in the alley next to a seedy black clinic. There is probably a whole social network devoted to it. They probably meet at Cline's place every Friday night.... which means we JUST missed them.
THAT was probably the thing that Cerb's buddy called him about! No wonder he bailed on us so fast!
I can hardly blame him, now.

I'm ok with Sledge, with Sugar Lips expert advice (Teamwork for Sledge defaulting to Con ?), luring the security guard inside to open the door via the lure of the all natural look, then doing Intimidation, with Rocky's help, to get the "borrowing" of the corp insured GPR for a few days.
Or
Breaking open the lock and see if we can get it wireless enabled so Angel can go to town on it. (Still need to deal with guard)
Or
Breaking in through a wall(Might set off an alarm though) and just using brute force. (Still need to deal with guard)
In all cases, since there is a guard inside, we need to deal with them, and I prefer the persuasion approach as then there is a chance for the GPR theft to be kept quiet through the weekend.
Sledge has (mega) corp sec procedures as well, so if there's something there that will help, there's that as well.

Keep in mind that at the time this is taking place, Smith is in transit and/or making arrangements - but it shouldn't require too much of his time, and would give him something
insanely amusing (and not overtly illegal) to do during the long bus-ride.
I would be up on board for playing "Cyrano" and helping Sledge lure the guard over. Not saying its the wisest move, but it would be Smith's vote if you pull him into the conversation (after all, he's going ot have to be dealt with one way or another).

My ruling that you would arrive at the completion of the GPR heist was arbitrary and for convenience.
It is not impossible that you could reach them in a fairly short time span, but the fact remains that you have been busy doing constructive things, and a price must be paid in terms of time spent.
At this point, the only way you can play Cyrano is if they hold off and wait half an hour for you (even your commlink can't go back in time or allow you to be doing two things at once!).

Alright, well, feel free to decide it amongst yourselves then. If you like that plan, or everything else has failed within a half-hour, I am at your service.
Also, if it helps any, I never posted IC that Smith arrived at that location. I only put him as far as the bus station - figuring he would need to find a way (probably by taxi) to get the rest of hte way. Still probably wouldn't shave off much time, though. I'm cool with waiting a half hour, or letting a different (better) plan play out.

Not a problem, pragma - I myself have been heinously AWOL due to GenCon.
My goal is to get online at HOME within about a week, and then get some actual quality posting done - I can't do crap here at the Internet cafe.
And Dire was a GREAT GM by the way.
Me, my giant troll left all his guns at home cuz I was under the mistaken impression that they wouldn't get through customs.
So it was improvised weapons for me...
I took out a sniper by throwing a captured microskimmer drone at him.
I took out another bad guy using our Mr. Johnson as a club.
And then I exploded a duffel bag of drugs in the faces of seven guys that had me cornered with shotguns - saved my life, but since the drugs were the target of the run, I think I cost the team a shot at second place.
I will try to get the game back on its feet before the week is up.

Okay - sorry to be so silent for so long even after the Con. Should be back to normal posting rate now.
Just posted a big bump for the other thread, but on this side the ball remains very much in y'all's court.
Although a quick review should suffice, I shall atone for my long absence by providing a recap:
Truck and cement cutter secured and waiting.
Everyone but Smith/Johnson onsite or just outside.
Guards distracted to other side of site by spirit.
Rocky and Sledge Masked to look like guards.
Angel in control of all cameras and comms to offsite security.
Rocky and Sledge outside quonset hut that should contain the GPR.
Hut has front door and opens-from-inside rear fire door.
Front door has keypad maglock that is apparently offline.
Inside, someone described by their PAN as body-hair enthusiast Hirsute Hannibal has music playing.

BlackHat

I believe, with another hardware test, you can bypass it entirely, without the need to hack it. Of course, you could probably also wire up a commlink directly to it, too.
DireRadiant
Aug 28 2008, 08:55 PM
Plug in a commlink and exploit, or turn on wireless.
Pilot(Hacking) 4 Exploit 3
Stealth 3 (7d6=3, 7d6=2, 7d6=2, 7d6=2, 7d6=2, 7d6=4, 7d6=3) = 18 hits on extended hack on the fly
Lowest level access to just open the door.
Angel can clean up logs later.
adamu
Aug 28 2008, 09:37 PM
Well, I was going to say hooking up the commlink or enabling the lock's wifi were both hardward tests at half the threshhold that opening the lock would be (it's not as though the guts of the thing have a user-friendly "access me" port - that would be on the outside).
But since I am so delighted that people are taking actions and moving forward, and since at half the threshhold you would easily have made it, and since time is not a real tight issue at the moment, and since you didn't lean on Angel to do it...well, I guess I'm just happy people are taking actions and moving forward!

Okay - you got through the lock and the guard is at your mercy either socially or physically.
At this point, JD and DR can continue RPing the scene, or we can go back to your bullet-pointed plan's resolution.
I need to know which (and I take the answer from the first person that speaks up!).
If you continue with regular action, just proceed with posting through the scene as normal.
If you want to go back to bullet points, I need two things to move forward:
1) Whether you now subdue the guard, or just browbeat him into letting you do what you like.
and
2) IC of whatever happens from either JD or DR.
Obviously both requirements could be subsumed in a single IC post.

Okay - everything good.
Back to bullet points, everything goes according to plan.
The GPR is in the truck/Love Machine(?) and you are clear and away just as soon as anyone tosses up an IC post of any length covering that, according to the existing plan (OOC post 4805).
Once that is up, I will wait 24 for anyone to make any revisions they may wish to the existing Site 2 Plan, again, latest version in OOC post 4805.
That site's recon, which I believe Angel recorded for later viewing by other team members, is in IC post 1130.
Once the Site 2 plan is finalized (or left as is) I will start comparing it to the realities of that site, and we will see how far we get.

Okay - big big big news. After four agonizing months, I am finally really online at home!!!!!
And - bad for me but great for this game - it is still about a month till my family arrives.
So hopefully my "lazy GM" days are over.
As for the above request for an IC post covering the last bits of the exfil from site 1, I want to make it clear that it is not meant to be demanding or impose "homework" on people.
It is just that (A) it needs to get put up on the IC thread one way or another and (B) I always assume players prefer to write IC posts when they can.
However, I absolutely do not mind writing it.
So I will give it another 24 and then I will move things forward if no one else has had the inclination.
