Threading Analize CF
Software + Resonance + VR = 12 dice
1,4,2,1,6,6,3,3,6,1,1,6 - 4 hits
Analize CF = R7

Fading resist = 14 dice
6,1,2,3,6,2,3,2,1,1,1,6,1,5 - 4 hits (Full resist)

Analize test
Analize 7 + Computer 3 + VR 2 + TM 2 = 14 dice
4,5,4,3,4,5,2,3,4,3,6,5,3,1 = 4 hits

Now for something entirely different...

Compile R6 Courier Sprite /w Exploit + Scan
Compile 4 + Res 7 + VR 2 - Threading 2 = 11 dice
2,4,3,3,4,1,4,3,5,5,5 - 3 hits

Sprite resist = 6 dice
5,1,5,3,1,1 - 2 hits (Glitch)

Fading resist = 14 dice
6,3,4,6,6,3,6,6,4,5,5,6,2,5 - resisted (Wish I could have gotten this on the analize test... X_x

The sprite is on standby, not actually there in the FBI node beside Caittie... yet.

Sure, clearing it up in the IC post, but I'll also explain here.
EDIT: Okay, so its not really mentioned IC, but its all down there. wink.gif

Johnson's typical icon is a generic man-in-a-black-suit with high-res mirrored shades. It doesn't necessarily look like him, but it doesn't look that different from him either (white guy, dark hair, tall, good looking). The resolution on the face and body (everything except for the reflected image) is intentionally lower-quality - so I doubt it would be useful for identifying him... but if someone were to meet the whole team, it wouldn't be too hard to guess whose icon it is.

He put the icon together for being a "Johnson", and he's meeting these guys as one, so I'm not going to stress out about making up a new one.

As for the virtual-person, Johnson has that loaded up on his agent (or on his comm, connected to the agent) so that rather than acting like a bland automation, the agent program will have a little more personality. He probably switches up who's personal data he downloads into it every once in a while, but for now, it would probably be some good-looking female celebrity. Probably some hot spy-chick from one of the trids he's been watching for "research" lately. So, when she reports about system security, it'll be a little more pleasent to deal with than a window filled with rolling numbers.

I don't believe Agent Higgen's would be able to percieve her, as I am not uploading her to the FBI node. She's strictly on Smith's node, looking for intruders, so unless he hacks his way into Smith's commlink, she won't be in my IC posts. wink.gif
adamu
Thanks for the clarifications, guys.

Konsaki - your sprite's resist glitch means you have two services instead of one.
BlackHat
Some sort of rolls incoming...

Edit:

Charisma+Leadership (to take control of the situation, assert myself as the dominant party)?: 11 dice
#D=11 : 62641143535 n1=2 n6=2 nHit=4

Charisma+Negotiation (to convince him to agree to either of those two terms): 11 dice
#D=11 : 33315414564 n1=2 n6=1 nHit=3
BlackHat
It might be appropriate to add Charisma+Intimidation (10 dice) to make him believe that he is really THIS close to blowing the whole deal.
#D=10 : 6452536121 n1=2 n6=2 nHit=4

If that is more of a Con, add a die (which is a 1) and ends up with the same number of hits.
adamu
@BlackHat - pre-mod rolls all look applicable and appropriate. I will write the next IC post now.
BlackHat
Replied. Mostly stalling, but I am honestly interested in what the guy plans to do if Sledge is unavailable. Even is she's on the lam (lamb?), he'll need some help tracking her down. If she's dead (which he may fully well have proof that she is not), he better have a plan-B. If not, maybe I gave him something to think about for the time it'll take Sledge to write back.

Current assumption is that Sledge hasn't gotten any less worried about the FBI. Their story hasn't really changed, and I don't have any proof that they're not going to fuck her over. Whether they buy a story about her dying, or not, if Sledge doesn't want to come in willingly, Adam isn't going to push it. Assuming the FBI doesn't budge either, no deal can be made - so there is no point in setting up a real-world meet. He'd like to negotiate some contingency-plan where the remainder of the team can stil lbe useful, but failing that, they'll all jsut go get drunk tonight, instead.

It won't be the last job we get offered. =D
adamu
Okay, looks like the ball is fully back in y'all's court. Let me know if you need anything.
And I will be watching and listening for when 16:30ish comes along (45 minutes in future) - please nobody jump past that until I green light it.
BlackHat
Sounds good. Current plan is to either chit-chat here, or take this party someplace else. If we wanna discuss the last mission, cool. If not, I'd be fine with never speaking of it again. wink.gif

If anyone has any ideas reguarding who's after Cerberus, that seems to be our only lead to the mission that nobody wants us on. frown.gif Man, we really gotta work for our money... solving mysteries just to get invited to the job that pays - and even that doesn't pay money.
DireRadiant
Ok, I'm still muddling through what Jolly Green Giant means. But otherwise I may get back and possibly post something Thursday. From the looks of it, I still don't see IC enough to get Sledge interested in the offer. Be nice to know what specifically they wanted from Sledge, whether it was a skill set or previous personal knowledge.

And even though Sledge isn't personally interested, on a metagaming level, if the entire team is, it actually wouldn't be too hard to convince her to take the risk for the team.
BlackHat
Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure that meant Cerb either, but since the guy had just refered to him as "the incredible hulk" I figured that's who he meant.

My thought process is, if Sledge just never calls back, there's nothing we can do, and an hour later, I'll drop Higgens a message saying "Yeah, so, she's either dead where we left her, or avoiding us thanks to you... so I'd love to take your offer, but it sounds like its off the table. Call me back if you have antyhign else we can help you with". Even if he suggests we're suited to track you down, I don't think Smith would be too keen on turning you in against your will, even if he does believe them.

If you do call back, Smith is a persuasive guy. It might not take any metagaming to get you to at least hear them out, just some reassurance that we've got your back. He's convinced people of crazier shit without any proof in the past! wink.gif
Abbandon
Well I did have a pick of the hulk on my wiki but the link broke a little while ago. im pretty sure they meant Cerberus.
adamu
Okay - remember when I asked you not to post past 16:30? Well, now it seems I need to ask you not to post past 16:00. Just need to put a small thing there, then you'll be free to continue again.
BlackHat
Noted. 10 more minutes of idle chit-chat. wink.gif I'm actually fine with moving ahead whenever anyone else is ready. The only thing I'm really waiting on is DR's post that was mentioned yesterday. I'd also be curious if Angel wakes up from her Techno-Coma or if I assume she's still (presumably) snooping around Higgen's office.

Smith will also go through the motions of cleaning up his datatrail to the best of his ability, restarting his commlink, spoofing his commcode, reducing his signal, and reconnecting to the local node in the waffle-house. He's way less concearned about hte FBI tracking them down here, but there's no use in broadcasting his half of the conversation any farther than he has to... and the hard reboot should shake loose any snooping FBI agents.

After that, he'll continue to fiddle with settings on his commlink, and sift through blogs, feeds, and email while talking to the group. Angel's easy-access security-level access will be removed - not that I have any doubt in her ability to reinstate it if she wanted to, but Adam's matrix-security classes taught him its dangerous to leave unused high-access user accounts laying around the system. It will also help his automated agent programs more easily identify which users arn't supposed to be there if the list is empty.

adamu
BlackHat - all that commlink fiddling is fine.

Everyone - the thing coming up in ten minutes, unless I hear otherwise, I will just plan on bumping time to that point next time I'm online. So post 'em if you got 'em, or let me know you'd like me to hold off.
Abbandon
Im good to go.
adamu
Well people - feel free to make the most of the next few minutes, cuz some things I have to work out are taking a bit longer than I expected. Hope to be back to you with a green light to move forward sooner than later.
BlackHat
Translation: The snipers had bigger dice pools than adamu expected, so rolling their surprise-round is taking longer than he thought. wink.gif
pragma
It's always a bad sign when the GM can't find all the dice he threw. I mean, what's he going to use to roll in the future?
adamu
Sorry about the delay everyone.

The thing is, was resolving one player's actions by PM. A few days ago I asked that person to green light the team for further posts once they were ready to do so. I am sure they will post as soon as their circumstances allow.

BlackHat
At least its not the sniper thing. wink.gif

I'm that 'one player'. Was busy over the weekend so was unable to write up a post, sorry.
It'll be around 4-5 hours before I can start work on the post.
adamu
It's all cool. Everyone gets busy. Thankfully, this game moves faster than most.

New Jersey? Is that new, or are we only just now seeing it cuz they fixed My Controls?

Saw they fixed the controls so I figured I'd update it and fix my timezone. I like not having to make the time conversion from Korea/Japan time to EST. nyahnyah.gif

What the GM sent to me -

QUOTE (Adamu)
Okay, just like today people have "online journals" that they post for the world to see, in 2070 it is really easy to make those into "online video journals" where everyone and his brother is in their own reality show, which they post to the Matrix. Of course, overall, on one hand it is a tiny minority of people, but on the other hand, there are still so many out there that sifting through all that data for an accidentally captured image takes a LOT of data search hits - which your sprite got.
And combined with all the web cams for locations that I talked about before, your sprite is able to put together a picture of the agents' recent movements.
I won't bore you or me with a log of every sighting, but the key elements are -
13:13 Starting with known Cerberus locations, your sprite finds a web cam in front of a nail stylist - located next to Dave's Home Defense - picks up Cerberus, Higgins and Lowell getting into a bland brown mini van, which the sprite adds to its search vectors.
14:20 Same van spotted driving east on Snohomish Monroe Highway.
15:31 Some "video journal" self-documentarian happens to be passing by as Lowell gets out of van and goes into a 24Heaven convenience store located in Enumclaw, Auburn, five blocks from the Waffle Iron.

Intuition 4 + Perception 1 + Active 3 + Contacts 3= 11 dice
#D=11 : 11312656455 n1=3 n6=2 nHit=5
adamu
@Konsaki - your sprite finds the dwarf's comm in hidden mode at the same location, the 24Heaven. It finds all sorts of other nodes - the minivan he's in, another node near him. The convenience store is part of a strip mall serving an apartment complex, and there are lots of nodes from shops, pedestrian and vehicle traffic, even a Lone Star node.

Note that the location is decidedly out of LOS of the waffle joint. And while there are some nodes that look like security or traffic (the Lone Star one) cameras, none are publicly accessible (or the first sprite would likely have found it).

So the whole image is matrix, with relationships between locations of nodes not overlaid onto any meatworld image - although it is simple enough to overlay it onto a Google-map sort of thing to get an idea of things - sprite probably does that automatically.

Meanwhile, in the meat surroundings of the waffle house, you spot what looks like what might be the sensor package on a small surveillance drone hiding on a roof across the street. Smith notices it too once he sees where Caittie is looking.

Last thing - I was under the impression that the plan was that before turning the FBI down Johnson was planning on pitching the job to Sledge one more time. If that's changed, or if the earlier brief exchange was it, then that is totally fine. Just don't want Dire left out of the loop while he's politely staying out of the scene his character is not present in.
BlackHat
Smith already sent two messages to Sledge reguarding the job, and hasn't gotten any response one way or the other. He had planned to give her an hour to think about it and say something if she was interested - and if she called, I was planning to have him work his charm to help her relax about the situation, and consider hearing them out... but I hadn't planned on having Smith call her up and hound her about it. The situation hasn't really changed, at all, so he's willing to honor her previous decision unless she steps in and says otherwise. This way, she can pretend she didn't get the messages from the team, and so we missed the job - rather than telling everyone else on the team that she'd rather keep her ass out of jail than put food on the table. smile.gif (and who can blame her).

Adam would feel like a dick if he went out of his way to contact her, get her defenses down, and talk her into coming in willingly, and then the FBI bags her and laughs. But, if she bites the bait that the Feds have already put out there, he had a few good points he'll add (like the fact that the team would be there with her, in case they try to pull anything, and if she turns them down, they'll find her at some point, on her own - that sort of thing). He's got social skills out the ying-yang so I'm sure he can somehow make it sound reasonable - despite being clearly 'not safe'.

Plus, he's been sorta assuming the FBI had been watching all along, which was why he went out of his way to talk (sbuvocally) about her being dead, and has avoided calling her up for a chat on the phone. Text messages, sure, but phone calls, no - unless she's the one that breaks the ruse.
adamu
It's all cool.

I certainly was not intending to question your IC motives, tactics or reasoning. Just playing forum-game traffic cop to make sure everyone has ample opportunity to play/post.

But I worry too much - I am sure Dire will post when and if he is inclined, based on his/Sledge's own knowledge and thoughts.

Anyway - ball's in y'all's court in terms of actions/IC posts.
BlackHat
Still want us to keep from posting past 15:00 or are we back to the 15:30 stop-sign, or are they both all mixed up now? biggrin.gif

Current plan, assuming nobody has a problem with Smith taking lead and moving things forward is to get on his bike, don his helmet (so he's fairly sure nobody can read his lips, and then give Sledge one last message. Something subvocal, along the lines of, "Okay, timetable is moved up. I need your answer now. Call me if you wanna talk." and then he will proceed to drive to the 24Heaven.

He's hoping that by leaving three accomplices behind, the drone will be ordered to watch them, rather than him - but seeing the "boss" leave might give them reason to think I'm going to meet with Sledge or something crazy, so Smith will expect to be tailed. He also suspects that they were at least in part aware of what we were discussing, beforehand, so they'll know he's on his way - so he won't waste time doubling back to obscure his target.

I'll leave this plan OOC for now, cause someone might do something IC that changes it - and becasue it would take us past 15:00, but if Adamu wants to move on, feel free to assume that's what Smith is doing. What he does when he arrives at the 24Heaven will probably depend on the greeting he gets when he gets there. wink.gif
adamu
Sorry - all the previous time limits/red lights are off. Free to post at will.
DireRadiant
Reviewed communications so far from sugar lips. Sledge won't reply to that last one. Still nothing yet to convince her it's worth the risk.

I'd discuss some options and expectations OOC, but I don't want to spoil the fun. However, I do ask we give time for Konsaki to respond and post, as Angel's reaction to the situation of having the FBI wanting the team to work for them may be of some importance.
BlackHat
Yeah, I'll hold off on posting ahead for a bit, in case anyone interrupts.

Don't blame Sledge for playing it cautious either - and I appreciate the OOC heads up that you saw the messages. Smith was hoping for a "yes" or a "no" but I can post ahead without them with a clear conscience since I at least know you saw it. Wish I had something I could tell ya to make it seem like a safer deal. smile.gif Maybe next time.
DireRadiant
I fully expect we'll end up doing this job for the FBI.

@adamu

Looking for backdoor, and anything else of interest.

Int+Percep: # dice: 8 :: 2 1 6 3 6 6 5 6 -- 5 successes

Watcher is looking for astral forms, better hope they're not hiding.

Int+Percep # dice: 2 :: 6 3 -- 1 success
BlackHat
"Are there any astral forms in the diner?"
"Well, boss, there's me..."
"Not you, idiot."
"No... I'm pretty sure this is me..."
"Any forms beside yours?"
"Like right beside mine?"
"Nevermind."
Abbandon
Sledge was a maybe but Fortunato was a definate no. So it doesnt sound like there is any chance of us doing the job unless we get forced into it somehow.
pragma
Fort doesn't have a problem with doing the job, just with dealing with the FBI. He's still willing to work for them, but not willing to talk to them, show his face to them, or let them get wind of his aura.

Also, BH, that's awesome. I might just swipe it for my next post.
BlackHat
Feel free to. smile.gif

Nah, unless it was a weak one.

Probably going to post ahead tonight reguarding driving over to the 24Heaven - since 3/5 teammates have posted and they didn't balk at the idea. If adamu happens to check the boards before then and wants to move forward, feel free to (but I think he usually checks it in the morning, my time)
JDragon
Rocky is good with that.

He's really just trying to keep his head down, and will be all over him and Cerb getting out of sight till he's needed.

JD
Konsaki
Caittie's going to split from the group at this point, as per the 'orders' from Johnson. I'm thinking of where she's going to head, but for now I'm planning... in my head even! biggrin.gif

Adamu: Planning to get Arsenal? it doesn't seem like we've made a lot of use out of the splat-books so far, but I'm guessing that one will be a little more prominent, if available to us.
pragma
Fort had 3 hits on the mask spell, so neither Johnson nor Angel have broken the mask.
Abbandon
How much is a troll size driving chair in arsenal ? hehehe.

I've never gotten all the extra book for any version of shadowrun. But I really want to for sr4 but they are so expensive. I could buy like 3-4 playstation1-playstation2 games off ebay for 35$ lol. And I atleast want augment, arsenal, and unwired.
BlackHat
Dunno how much cause I havn't gotten it yet. Probably will get it in the next day or two - I've just been reading in the thread for it in the 4th edition forum and getting all excited about the stuff that is mentioned.

We're going to have to plan a group shopping trip soon.
adamu
pragma - no other astral entities detected by your watcher.

The back door will be through the kitchen...up to you if you want to go out that way. I would need an IC post of you entering, and an etiquette test.

Johnson and Angel have no indication whatsoever that the FB employee paying his bill is Fort.

BlackHat - since you've ICed a "last chance" comm call to Sledge, and since your maneuverings on your bike would have given her time to respond, I will post what you see when you round the corner once Dire has posted or again said he will not do so.

I started a post on Arsenal a couple days ago, then deleted it cuz I thought "Why jump the gun?"

But it was inevitable - I've already been in consultation on Arsenal policy for another game, so this one couldn't be far behind. Especially since, yeah, the goodies and rules in there will be more immediately applicable to all players, as opposed to the karma-expensive options in Street Magic and the nuyen-expensive options in Augmentation.

But the short answer is: I do not expect to have Arsenal in my sweaty hands until about two months from now, so it doesn't exist in this campaign until I do, for obvious reasons.
(And no harrassing my Luddite ass about getting an accursed PDF!)

Abbandon - I know you have long-range plans for more implants for Cerb. My advice to you is twofold - first, there are more than enough options to keep you powerful and happy in the BBB. Second, that said, if you really want a huge wealth of exotic and versatile choices, Augmentation is worth the investment.
