I survived the forum upgrade!!
Hmmmmmmm what will the colors look like on our new background? First impressions are that im not feeling the new forums very much but it probably just takes time to get used to.

Sweet, we can post images now. I'll make use of that later.
Will post soon too, but on the road this weekend, and then the superbowl and whatnot.

Probably respond tonight though

Despite the finality of his last statement, there might be a little back and forth, after this, where Johnson rolls negotiation to get him to agree, to spill some details, and ideally, to offer up what little cash he had available, to help grease the wheels.
Charisma + Negotiation + Edge (19 dice, 6 of 8 uses left)
#D=19 : 6214142165636312152 n1=5 n6=4 nHit=6
#6=4 : 6365 n1=5 n6=2 nHit=9
#6=2 : 42 n1=5 n6=0 nHit=9
My thought process was, even if Sledge did call back and agree to meet, that Fort wouldn't, and maybe some of the others wouldn't. Even if they were willing to help on the mission, that meant fewer favors for payment. This way, we maximize the number of favors we could get, and people will have the option of avoiding the Feds and still getting some cash (assuming the rest of the team agrees to this deal, when I present it to them, later).
Johnson has NO idea if Sledge would agree to do the job, if the FBI wasn't involved, or not, but there's no way he can know that until he finds out what the job is, and convinces the FBI to back off so she'll come out of hiding. I figure, even if she's still 'out', there's no reason we have to tell the Feds, if we can somehow manage it without her (in whatever way his "usual" team would).
*shrugs* Could end very badly for us.

Also noticed today, that on the first page of this forum, there are only three threads with over a thousand posts, all of which belong to this game.

Sadly,
our IC thread is the one that hasn't quite gotten to four-digits. We should work on that. Of course, our OOC thread beats theirs by a thousand, too, so I think it evens out.
Pretty impressive to see a thread with 4K posts, though.

OOC if Sugar Lips wants to commit the team and have Sledge meet the feebs to seal the deal there's no problem working that out.

Oh, and by the way, guys, just to save a huge amount of back-and-forth posting, IF Johnson agrees to that suggestion, can I assume he accepts the message, passes it on without trying to open it, and that Sledge does open it once received?
If I am wrong on any of that, totally cool. But if I'm right, it will obviously save, like, three or maybe four post cycles.

Yes, he will accept the message, with the understanding that he's going to pass it on to Sledge. His plan would then be to leave the Feds, and pass the message along to Sledge, along with a note about how the Feds should be backing off, at least until they get his reply reguarding whether or not that message changed her mind. There isn't really any reason to peek inside, since (assuming she doesn't bite) he won't be able to fake her appearance at a meet to seal the deal.
If Sledge bites, he'll drop a message to Higgens setting up a meet later that night, for himself, Sledge, and anyone else interested in showing up (after when he expects to be done with Deerwalker)... and then pass a message to the rest of the team saying the heat should be off, and that if htey want to meet the feds they're invited, if not, its not a big deal anymore, and they can arrange payment through Johnson once he hears the pitch.
If she doesn't bite, its pretty much the same, he'll tell the Feds 'good luck with plan B' and tell the team that the FBI should be backing off, but that nothing came of the job, so start looking for a place to stay this weekend while he's looking for another job.
DireRadiant
Feb 4 2008, 07:49 PM
I think the FBI agents are under a tight timeline regardless, so you might take a look at the timing. Meet later tonight might not cut it for accepting and starting on the offer.
BlackHat
Feb 4 2008, 07:58 PM
That's what they get for jerking me around all afternoon, then.

I was ready to sign up for this an hour ago - they're the ones that need all their offers verified in triplicate, by one very specific ork.
Yeah, I dunno, if its a problem for them, they can let me know. Deerwalker's schedule is probably more flexible than theirs. And after all the back-and-forth, already, I'm not gonna blow the whole deal by stalling further. That'd just give them time to change their minds.

Didn't fast-forward the message delivery process cuz BH mentioned taking off before delivering the message.
That in itself means I can't fast forward, cuz I don't want to assume where Johnson goes. Plus it will, as Johnson can tell, lead to, let's call it friction, with Higgins if he doesn't send the message on right away.
So I need to see what y'all do.
Be back on around the usual time tonight (morning for you guys).
BlackHat
Feb 5 2008, 04:18 AM
Yeah, don't mind firing it off right away. Johnson isn't expecting a prompt reply, or a reply at all, really, but maybe whatever goodies is in there is better than he can imagine.
adamu
Feb 5 2008, 01:48 PM
@DireRadiant
Okay, the message is in Sledge's in-box. It's encrypted. There is a password prompt. Higgins' commcode is in the header.
I was going to IC it, but on second thought I figured you'd want to handle the receive and the response yourself.
So if you could paste this into your IC post -
<<Recovery job. Package is buried under a collapsed building, one that was being erected by a very big company. If you want the job, call me NOW, and NO ONE else.>>

Last year all the SR4 events were sold out via registration. The tournament sold out first. For most SR4 tables someone didn't show up so generic tickets were accepted. For the Tournament we accepted no generic tickets because we got 100 percent of the pre registration tickets attending.
I recommend the SR4 tournament, but you must buy the tickets as soon as you can.
Otherwise, make sure you let me know when you get there.
adamu
Feb 5 2008, 03:37 PM
Of course I will be happy to.
But this SR tourney - do I have to have some sort of official Missions character?
And doesn't it, like, occupy all the nights of the con? Do I want to commit that much prime time to one event? (Granted, SR is the ONLY game I play seriously...)
DireRadiant
Feb 5 2008, 04:14 PM
Usually Friday and Saturday night 4 hour slots, two part event. So plenty of time to do other fun stuff.
A long long time ago it used to be the 8 to midnight slot every day, but that was back with SR2.
Characters provided otherwise the tournament grading and module can't be tailored. If people show up with any character then the team might be missing something needed.

In the lower left there is a search bar, dont know if it was there before but it works pretty well for sifting through our own topics. Just try to pick specific things like "Clinic" instead of really generic things like "Black Clinic".
@adamu I enjoy turning your location descriptions which usually involves one or a few of our characters into first person descriptions for the wiki hehe. I just change a few words but for whatever reason i find it fun. Probably cuz its easy heh.

@Dire - thanks for the tourney advice.
And getting back to the actual game at hand, any chance of a translation from the or'zet?
Also, wasn't clear if your message was text or the start of a "phone" conversation. I am going to go ahead and assume text.
@Abbandon - nice work on the wiki. And thanx for the tip on DS's new features - I'll be figuring them out for months, I can tell already.

@BlackHat - just to try and save eight bazillion coordination posts -
He will agree to virtually any time and place you offer. If you take him up on his offer of a location, he'll give you the address of a house in a quiet residential area just east of University Village.
Whoever may or may not want to attend, no one on the team is more than 30 minutes away from your current location, which is only about 30 minutes from the address. Not saying you HAVE to move that fast, just letting you know the bottom limit.
At this point, Higgins won't be interested in answering any more questions until the actual briefing.
If you go ahead and organize things before Konsaki has a chance to finish Angel's current conversation, Konsaki can work it out with me by PM and we can edit it in later.
There - that should, I hope, be everything you need to move things forward past all the boring details and maybe even up to arriving at the briefing.
Except - will everyone be a dear and roll call who will and won't be actually attending the briefing...then BH will have everything he needs.
BlackHat
Feb 6 2008, 02:00 PM
Yeah. I'm ready to fast-forward to the briefing as soon as we know who's planning on going. If Angel wants a pick-up, that's fine. Otherwise, Johnson assumes she's still with the Trolls and the van at the waffle-house, and can get a ride from them. Also assuming Fortunato isn't showing.
adamu
Feb 6 2008, 02:18 PM
Hippy girl won't call back - so...8 is fine???
I know you will go forthwith on your bike.
Based on what he's said, I think it is safe to say that Fort will take the job but NOT show up for the meet.
Sledge will arrive on her bike IF she attends, which I remain unclear on.
The trolls will be in the van.
Angel?
So I will post everyone's arrival at the house once I hear from Dire, Konsaki, JD, and Abbandon.

If Sledge doesn't make it to dinner at the ?Rhino?, that is if she doesn't retrieve or signal the agent before then, the Agent will post to the drop box for Monica letting her know Sledge last went to a meet with Higgens and Lowell. A kind of mail this when I'm dead thing.
