Just checking in.
90% done with the map, may even finish it this weekend.
Still need a question answered Adamu if you are out there. Not sure if your PC is back up.
Hows everyone else doing this summer? Any one doing GenCon again this year?
One of these years I'll make, just not sure when.

I'm here, I would like to go to Gencon sometime. It won't be this month ... stuff is hectic. Posts will be sparse the next two weeks, not that that's been mission critical for a little while, but I feel like you all deserve to be in the loop.

Sit Rep:
Life currently too busy for gaming.
Working full time and finishing university papers.
New term starts in mid-September, unsure what the workload will by like.
This game is my first priority.
If I have any time for a game, it will go into this one first and foremost.
Will try to give an update late September.
Cheers!

Okay - computer finally back on my dining room table!
I am immensely flattered that people are still checking in. I feel bad about these heinous breaks, but without a computer - and socialism simply does not lend itself to quick repair service. But don't get me started on that.
Anyway, I will indeed let people know if I ever actually quit the game, so unless otherwise stated, breaks are just that.
Still, I wouldn't blame anyone for giving up. But I am glad to see folks are still around.
Looking ahead over at least the next three months, I am as sure as I can be that I can stick to twice-weekly bumps. By then, hopefully enough momentum will have been regained that I can keep up the pace when things get busier.
JD - sweet map. Thanks so much.
So we have confirmation that Error is now an NPC, and I will run him. Let him/me know what you need from him - I have a very good idea of what you wanted him to try to achieve for starters. With that resolved, I will be pushing things forward to directly to a few blocks of your target within a day or so.
If anyone has anything they need before then, jump in.

Totally great work on the maps, JD!
One note for the basement map that you just did - everyone should know that this level, between the first floor and the sub-basement, is where the driveway shown entering the north of the building on the exterior map enters. So on the north wall of the basement are big roll-up doors accessing an external loading dock. (the driveway slopes down below ground level, with concrete "canyon walls" on each side ending at the north wall of the building).

Okay - I don't think the IC post violated anything you guys said you were doing.
If it did, let me know and we will adjust it.
Other than, it is time for people to, like, declare their actions and so forth.
Game on.
This is my second post-set for this week.
Next week's will probably be clustered in the Wed-Sat zone.

Reviewing our plan (digging through old pages of the IC thread) I noticed one thing I wanted to check on. We told Nym we needed these IDs (specifically, the emergency foreman guy), and that we would handling inserting the SIN into the company's database ourselves (since we planned to have a hacker on-site to either add the information to a database there, or redirect the request for that information when the team arrives). Is that all in place?

Yikes - this is what happens when way too much time passes between bursts of playing activity (but of course mere hours for the PCs).
But that is the joy of a (temporarily) NPC hacker.
Yes, it is all in place.

Anyway guys, you've done tons of prep for this thing, the hacking is done, you've got all your gear, you are actually headed there!
Now is the actual run itself - the good part, guys.
Need someone to step up and statt declaring actions, even if it is as bare bones as "we go to the back gate" or whatever.
Questions, actions, aimless chat - all welcome to your GM who is trying to repent of his heinous absenteeism!

Spose SMith should step up and take charge.

Went back and reviewed the maps. I think we should swing both vehicles around the North entrance. It makes sense that we would arrive at the service-entrance rather than the front entrance - and that entrance seems to be RIGHT next to the elevator, so it might make our exit a little bit quieter. We may play it by ear when we get to the door. I am hoping that there is either a guard, or enough cameras that one of the guards comes and meets us at the door to figure out what's going on.
I would normally suggest dropping a spoofed message on the node saying that "the emergency maintenance team will be arriving shortly" or something to that effect - to make our arrival less unannounced, but making use of our hacker for a minor task like this might draw his attention away from something more important.
Unless there are any objections/suggestions, I say we go with this., and see how it goes.

I agree on not distracting the hacker. The guards not knowing plays into the "rushed" feel we are going for as well.

Also, according to my character sheet on google-docs, I have 4/8 edge uses left. I wanted to double-check that that is what Adam has in his notes, but in any case, I want to save anything that is left for later in the conversation. Right now, I'm hoping to just come off as believable, and fully expect the guard to grill me at the door since he has no idea why were here. I just want him to think that, in the back of his mind, he might be supposed to know why we are here.
I would double-check my total against the wiki, too, but I seem to have lost the link when I switched laptops at work - and its been a while since I've gone there (not sure i know my password anymore!) Can anyoen toss me a link so I can start getting that set up again?

Black Hat - I leave it to you guys to monitor your own consumables - ammo, money... and Edge. If you say you have four left, that is fine with me.
Next, we may have had a misunderstanding about your current location - I had you had the back gate outside the wall, on the street. You seem to have progressed to the back loading dock.
However, kudos for keeping the action going.
Whatever tests there were to pass at the gate will be the same as the loading dock, so I am just going to alter my PREVIOS IC to bring you to where you are - no point in dragging things down for no reason.
I lopped off some of your dice as negative mods on the opposed Con test. See NEW IC.

All sounds great too me. Apologies for trying to slip past the front gate. From the map, I thought the road to this door came right off the street, but I could have assumed that there would be some kind of gate there since there is a wall. Come to think of it, none of the other points of entry/exit had walls.

I'm more interested in making a Judge Intentions roll against the guard (hoping to glean something of his emotional state or current intentions - if he's focused on Smith, or eyeing our gear, etc), so can/should I substitute that for the one perception test?

BlackHat - Judge Intentions would be an action initiated by you - you can do all of those you want!
The one-perception-you-choose-on-what is to reflect what you might just happen to notice as you go about your stated actions.
So we will go forward with your Judge Intentions, and everyone else is free to state actions, but in addition everyone that cares to can make the one perception test.

Judge Intentions (Charisma 6 + Intuition 4= 10 dice):
4 hits (If I need to target some information, it is probably most important to assess his emotional state)
Perception (Intuition 4 + Perception 1 + Visual 3 = 8 dice):
2 hits (Again, if targeting information, Smith is probably most-interested in the gear the guard is sporting (is it high quality (rating) stuff? lightly armed? etc)

Black Hat - so...the 8-hit test is for the name tag? It's there in both meat and AR - it says Larsky.
By this point you can hear the whimpering woman voice sound from inside as well.
Note also, yes, there is a freight elevator you will need called, but more important - and immediately obvious - is that they have an automated ramp/bridge thing for moving heavy equipment from trucks onto the loading dock if necessary. You'll need that to get the cement cutter inside.
Edit your post, or leave it as is. Up to you.

You pretty much see what's on the map - the guard is going around the back of the guard booth - as you can see from the map, that's where the access is.
Through the guard booth window you see that door into the main security room is ajar just a bit, and there is movement in back in there.

http://www.intotheshadows.net/uftbmaps.html2nd map down (the first floor map). In my head, we're coming in in the upper-left corner, between the elevator and #4. is #4 or #2 the guard-booth?
Also, before I post any other actions for Smith, does the guard react to him poking his head in, or does he continue on towards his booth?

The thing below the elevator is the ramp lift machine Adamu mentioned.

Thanks for the help JD.
Yes, you are coming in the loading dock doors which are at the top of the map.
As Smith ducks in, the guard booth is directly to his left - the small box within a large box. Window facing you, but your maps have already shown Smith that entry into that is around the back of that room. That is where the guard is going, tucking his shirt in better as he walks. He doesn't appear to notice you behind him.

Hey guys, just wanted to check in. I had an acute case of RL last month which has not dissappeared but has eased enough for me to show up. Never mind, a few OOC notes now.
1st, Fort didn't have enough juice to summon a watcher that would be valid for the whole job and can't summon more while on astral (in fact, he'd have to suck six boxes of drain to do so) so astral communication is directly with him. His rough plan is to hang out with the team and do whatever scouting is necessary. Once they're in position in the basement he'll alternate between patrolling and checking it with them.
2nd, Did Fort see anything on astral - like two people going at it - before the team arrived?
