...Well, I mean, if it's made with Mantis Glands.
...Or if you're really creative with how you use is.
I am, of course, referring to the pesticide.
QUOTE (Street Magic p 152)
Weaknesses: Allergy (Insecticides, Severe)
this is found in every insect spirit type.
QUOTE (SR4A p 94 @ "Severe Allergy")
Contact with the allergen results in actual physical damage. The character receives 1 box of damage for every minute he touches or remains exposed to the allergen. Apply a –4 dice pool modifier to all tests made while a character experiences the symptoms. Increase the Damage Value of weapons made from this substance by +4 when used against the character.
QUOTE (SR4A p 295 "immunity to normal weapons)
This immunity applies to all weapons that are not magical (weapon foci, spells, adept or critter powers). If the critter has the Allergy weakness, then the Immunity does not apply against non-magical attacks made using the allergen.
now see KE IV in arsenal, page 84. this is what a commercial grade insecticide (made from "a combination of concentrated insecticides") does to insect spirits in the 6th world... power 8 acid damage. immediate speed, and contact vector. it isn't pretty. now, granted, raid is not going to be quite as strong. but i'm sure it will be at least, say, power 2-3. boosted by 4 damage because of the allergy, and at -4 dice to resist the effects courtesy of their allergy. now, granted, you're not going to knock out any force 12 insect spirits with raid. (most likely) but if you spray a force 3 insect spirit with raid a couple of times, it's going to be either in serious pain or dead.
*and*
QUOTE (SR4A p 255)
if a character remains in contact with a toxin over an extended period, such as being caught in a gas-filled room for several minutes, she may receive an additional dose and suffer stronger effects (or have to resist the toxin again). When the toxin’s Speed period has elapsed again, apply additional concentration effects as appropriate or call for another resistance test.
if you spray an insect spirit with raid, is it still in contact the next round? (after the immediate speed has elapsed) most likely, unless the spirit takes some drastic measures.
so like i said... raid is actually a pretty effective method of dealing with insect spirits

(and KE IV is a devastatingly effective method of dealing with bug spirits...)
