It could be worse. It could be Johnson, Brackhaus, and Tanaka, Attorneys at Law.

With Barrister Bunraku on retainer?

I sense an interesting story behind this one. Care to share...? beret.gif

Just an idea I had for a game I might run, if the opportunity presents itself. High-risk extraction of clients, runs to hack corporate data and find evidence as "Discovery," depositions (much more thrilling when the councellors have wired reflexes and cyber-spurs in addition to their rapier wit), that sort of thing.

Nah, it'd be Barrister Smith or Barrister Jones. smile.gif

Yes, indeed. The Ancients are so much more effective and intelligent than CJF, it's an insult to them. nyahnyah.gif

Just something I thought of when reading up on the Ancients, how often their colors were noted, and the Elven Traditions they imported from the Tir. :/

You know, I've just had a terrifying thought...

There's nothing stopping them from running around in big stompy 'mechs, just by modding the anthroform propulsion method of mobility to their bikes... Or other vehicles...

Other than the fact that Ares just produced the first effective Battlemech for the 2074 Desert Wars, where it was promptly shot to pieces for being too damned tall to get "Hull Down" properly?

Ooh, which book?

I figure quad 'mechs are better than upright ones for that anyway. More stability, lower profile, basically a tank on legs.

I could stat that! A well developed, organized and funded street gang turns to building stompy robosuits?

You guys have yet to see the horrors I can unleash with Motorbikes and Overmodding!

Can you cite that?

Also, I don't think there are rules for vehicles going hull down yet. Or for that matter, for making taller vehicles more easily shot than low-slung ones.

Did Empire Strikes Back teach you nothing?!

Quad mechs, no matter how impervious their armor happens to be against blasters, are vulnerable to tripping at which point their armor ceases to exist!

#2039: Getting a blimp drone with a multi-launch drone rack and filling it with missile drones is fine. Commanding them all to bombard the area automatically if I flatline... less so.
#2040: Modding a missile drone to be able to fire across the city is borderline cheating. Modding it to be able to hit its target from another country then hiring out for merc work in said country and targeting convoys without leaving my lounge is simply being lazy.
#2041: Retaliating against a Aesir Satellite weapon system with missiles that will take several hours to hit it, and are launched on your death, is considered petty.

'39 and '41 is just incentive not to kill you. If killing you costs them a satellite or their lives, it's often cheaper to leave you alive smile.gif
'40 is just being efficient. I mean, do you know how much time traveling to another country for merc work takes?

Precisely. There's an in-canon character of a guy who rides a motorcycle and has a nuke in the side car.
Carpet bombing a city block or taking out a satellite is far less devastating.

You're probably better off asking what Shadowrun players HAVEN'T read Snow Crash, as those will be a rarity.

It's not a Shadowrun book but might as well be (well aside from the lack of magic/awakened/metahumans...)

A pretty good one from the days when Neal Stephenson was able to write a book that was less than 1000 pages.

Yeah. I was greatly surprised when stopping and kneeling to do that first aid to slow the bleeding bullets started raining down and around me. Considering those assholes tried to kill me already that night I wasn't going to risk my life any further just to possibly save the life of the guy I threw out the window (he was still attached to a rappel harness), then shot his rappel line, then shot his hand to cause him to fall.
