A-3, S-6, D-5, F-5

Programs: Signal Scrub, Browse, Virtual Machine: Baby Monitor, Stealth

Full VR, Hack onto the local grid, find the host, find the file, make sure file is not databombed, crack the file, get the file, GTFO...

Okey Dokey smile.gif

Hack from the public to the local grid:

16d6.hits(5)=7

4d6.hits(5)=0

OS=0

The host is not running silent, so you find it easily enough, then hack a mark on it:

18d6.hits(5)=6

11d6.hits(5)=3

OS=3

You enter the host, and attempt to find the file:

10d6.hits (5)=3

Which takes all of 10 seconds

Now you investigate it to see if there is a Data Bomb

10d6.hits (5)=2 - you do not see one

OS still 3

Swap out browse for sneak.

Hack a mark on the file

18d6.hits(5)=9 - reduced to 7 for you Sleaze limit.

11d6.hits(5)=3

OS=6

Ok - so far so good.

So now opening the file using Sleaze

14d6.hits(5)=5

8d6.hits(5)=3

OS=9

You copy the file, exit the host, and head back to your body. smile.gif

The video footage bears out what the employee had said. You can go ahead and post all that IC whenever you wish - unless you want me to do it.

Do my eye's deceive me? Was that a successful matrix run with no issues whatsoever?

Nope, your eyes do not deceive you - in and out without a hitch smile.gif

This is due to using our rules to allow Crack File as a Sleaze Action at -4 dice smile.gif

P.S. I actually rolled 2 more dice than I should have for Overkill, since he doesn't get his bonus for Codeslinger on the Crack File action - but it didn't matter, as removing those 2 dice still leaves him with enough hits. smile.gif

Hey - maybe the tide is turning for you smile.gif

In the meantime, did you want me to post the results, or would you like to? Remember that around 4:55 you would get the text from Jack with all of the info. (That goes for you too Grease).

You can post the results up, I have a few errands to run.

I will be back in an hour or so.

Need to update the ole' expense account.

Need prices for the following:
- The dinner Amy picked up
- Jack & Honeypot's meal (+ tip)

That's all I can think of right now. I'm not sure what the final determination was for Amy and child care, if someone can give me a short explanation, I can add it to the chart.

ETA: How are y'all coming in Dragonfall? I'm playing through with two chars simultaneously and having a blast. I hope it sells well because I think HBS has really figured out how to build these games now. The experience is miles ahead of Deadman's Switch and I thought that was a super-fun game.
Chrome Head
I don't know how much that dinner costs.

The bottom line is she'll pay 50 nuyen a day to Ram for taking care of Sam until the run is over, starting tomorrow in-game.

Jack and Honeypot's meal is 100 nuyen.gif with tip.

Amy's dinner is 20 nuyen.gif

Gratzie!

ETA: Just posted Run & Gun Preview #3 to the DB. Some very cool ideas that I am glad they have articulated. Obviously, nothing is part of the game until Lobo says so, but I hope some of this stuff gets included (like the Size Modifiers for combat - because it doesn't make sense that a CityMaster is as easy to hit as a Kanmushi).
Chrome Head
I was curious so I read the section on size modifiers for attack rolls... man I'm not sure they fully understand the effect it can actually have.
[ Spoiler ]

Actually, the extra dice can mean that an attack that would not hit the target actually hits, and so one extra die can mean an additional 8 boxes of damage, for instance. Their explanation shows a major misunderstanding of their own rules... This being said, I think this rule makes sense.

Honestly, I was more happy that they acknowledged that it was a thing, but I'm still not sure if I think it was implemented well.
1) I'm not a huge fan of multiple size modifiers for metahumans, especially not something that spreads across 4 levels of modifiers.
2) I still think drones are out of whack, at least the micro and minis. I would think a -6 would be more approrpiate to hitting something that size (then again, I still don't get how a microskimmer is supposed to be frisbee sized and at the same time be smaller than a Fly-Spy, unless the Fly Spy is Saturday Monster Matinee sized).

Especially since it says that a Fly-Spy is supposed to be the same size as a large insect. What does "large" mean? Does that mean rhinoceros beetle large?

beetle

Even so, that is still much smaller than a frisbee smile.gif

Here is my take, I'm open to your thoughts:

1) RG1 - This is how I am used to playing Shadowrun - two attacks per round (since I'm raised on SR 1-3). However, I realize that this is probably too deadly for the campaign we are in. I personally think that the cumulative recoil should be spend a simple action to clear cumulative recoil if you are playing with RG1, and spend a complex action to clear it if you aren't. (Leaning toward ruling it that way as well)

2) RG2 - I like this, although I don't think there are that many different sizes of metahumans either. Should probably be no modifier for 90% of metas, and +1 for large humans and orks, +2 for trolls. Not sure how I'd delineate that exactly - open to suggestions.

3) RG3 - seems like a little fiddly - I've always been fine with Target Walking/Running - but I could be talked into this.

4) RG4 - no, this was one of the problems with high initiatives in SR1 and 2 - the speed monkeys were able to walk up to a target, slap him in the face, do a little dance, moon him, take out their gun, load it manually, and then shoot him before he ever got to do anything. I much prefer the current system (well, the one started in SR3)

5) RG5 - not necessary in a play by post game. In a pnp it means less dice to roll, which is fine, but I like the current system, and putting in 10d6.hits(5) or 18d6.hits(5) makes no difference.

6) RG6 - undecided. Might make the game too lethal - probably not going to use it.

7) Called shots seem fine

8 ) Location shots - very interested in these, depending on how balanced they are.
Jack VII
I think earlier versions of the game had the microskimmer as "soup can lid" sized. I don't know what happened to that description...

As far as the combat rules, I thought they were interesting, but I'm not sure if we really need to incorporate any of them. Up to y'all. My thoughts:

RG1: Honestly, I've finally gotten used to how this thing is supposed to work, so I don't really see the need.
RG2: I like the idea, but (as stated) think the execution is a little wonky, I really think that all currently playable metahuman races should fit into (at most) two categories, - and +1. The latter reserved for really massive trolls, IMO.
RG3: Not a fan. There are already some abstracted rules for this, I don't thunk its necessary (and seems like it would work better with a battle mat).
RG4: Agreed. It would probably be fine if max initiative boost was in the 3D6 area and Initiative were capped somewhere, but with how high it can currently get, I think you run into problems.
RG5: I still haven't figured this one out. Does this really mean that most holdout and light pistols can't hurt someone with an armor jacket on if wielded by a relatively average person?
RG6: Not bad, but unless we have a reason to complicate things, I just don't think it's necessary.
Can't really comment on the Called Shot stuff without seeing the special ammo rules and the Martial Arts stuff, same with the location shots.

I'm a bit behind on reading up on the run & gun rules, but can infer a little from your responses. Just let me know if there are any major rules changes smile.gif. Now that jacks meet is wrapping up, do we have a plan for this IG evenings activities? Maybe go try to find those take stingrays iced? Or bouldered, I guess.

Yes, I think we should do that next. Those commlinks can reveal very interesting things to us, and we don't want someone (or something) else to find those corpses before we do. It will also confirm Stingray's story, and we might find our first murderer, which is the first objective of the run.

There won't be any major rules changes, just a few tweaks here and there, as long as no one is violently opposed to them - and I'll make sure everyone knows what they are if/when I put them in place.

Lobo0705
Ok, with Jack's meet done, Amy having eaten dinner with her family and neighbor, Overkill getting the footage from the Tasty Burger, and Grease finishing up his dinner at the diner, this should put us all on track to meet up.

You guys decide where you want to meet, and I can post whatever is necessary to set that up.

Also, bear in mind that although you discussed it alot OOC, none of you have really discussed what Jack found IC - so that should probably take place at some point during the evening.
Chrome Head
We could decide to meet somewhere in the Warrens, with 3 of us living there and our likely destination that evening being Sagebrush Park.

We can meet at Nick's. I believe it was the original plan from several weeks ago. It's also closest to Sagebrush Park, IIRC.

ETA: Before I update my expense account, let me know if any of you want one of the burner Meta Links I just bought (they cost 120 nuyen.gif each). They'll be available tomorrow. We should be able to use them for this run and probably should trash them at the end, but they might prove useful for making calls in case we don't want to use our nice commlinks.

My character will get one if she's told it's necessary by the rest of the team. She doesn't feel a need for it herself right now. But as we know, she can be pretty misguided.

I just want to point out the irony in this post, posted almost right as Jack was basically being told that there was a hit out on us already.

If someone doesn't want you dead in Shadowrun, you're not playing correctly.

Technical question; does having my Agent attempt a task like this Search for Lynx impair my own ability to attempt it later?

Now that I think about it, we can all probably just share one when we need to make calls to potentially unsafe/monitored numbers. If we have it slaved to Overkill's cyberdeck and he does matrix overwatch on it while we use it, I think we should be okay. But if anyone wants one otherwise, let me know and I'll make the proper allocation.

It does not - since the Agent is effectively a separate entity. It would (basically) be like having Jack attempt it, and then you attempt it later.

I will set the Agent then.

It rolls 8 dice

8d6.hits(5)=3

So next time you post something IC, just indicate that you have sent the agent off to search for information about Lynx, and it will return 6 hours later and tell you it found nothing.
Always Overkill
K, I just wanted some reason for Drave to brace himself for the challenge of finding this guy. (Preferably before we walks through my door wondering why I have so much footage of his handiwork.)
DrZaius
I think Grease would want 1 of the burners, at least.

@DrZ: Noted, they'll arrive with the remaining equipment tomorrow AM.
Lobo0705
@Jack,

I love that Grease's taxi is like Herbie the Love Bug crossed with Christine.
Lobo0705
I'll let each of you post the necessary updates of you arriving at Nick's Knacks - it is located in the Warrens, you can see the first page of the IC thread for a description.

Include anything you want to do before you head on over there, and make sure you include your gear lists for when you travel there (you could have picked up new gear from your respective homes).

With Jack sending you the message at 5:20, you would be arriving at the location around 5:45 or so (assuming you left right away).
Jack VII
@Lobo:

Probably more of the latter than the former. I hope no one minds the bit. I'm actually only planning on writing these scenes when no one else is around. Maybe its only in his head, some strange hallucinations left over from his memory loss and/or something extra installed in his head that gives him delusions.

I think its cool. As long as it is all something that could be in your head, and it doesn't actually damage Grease's vehicle - don't see that it should be a problem smile.gif (I mean, I can't speak for the others, but its fine by me)

Drave is packing a duffel with his stuff (everything from his sheet.) and leaving extra food out for the cat, (it has its own way of coming and going anyways.)

I recommend italics as well for thoughts. I personally use "darkkhaki" for the color as I've seen it used in other games and I think it's nice, but your color is fine too.

Changing dialogue colors? Next it will be font sizes, and then we will have anarchy!

Seriously though, no big deal - I agree with Chrome, just keep it italicized if that's cool with you smile.gif

Alright, the others are on their way - go ahead and post you arriving home, and preparing for visitors - you can even end your IC post with the other 3 arriving, and you saying your initial piece to them so we can kick the dialogue off smile.gif

Yeah, I always like to use italics. I'm not sure if I am using the default scheme for the boards or not, but everything shows up clearly with the one I am using. The one I use is Black with Green banners/highlights.

@ALL: Sorry about the marathon length post. I just got nailed with an involved tasker at work. I'm going to review the post really quickly and edit it if anything is dicked up (Also, if you want me to write your parts differently, I will definitely do that as well, just let me know).

I'll edit this post to let y'all know when it's 100% ready to go. I will be on and off for the rest of the day working on my project.
