@Overkill, Grease, and Amy,

Should I continue with the scene? (Amy isn't doing anything, and Overkill is just watching the drones) Is Grease going to do anything, or are you waiting to see how this plays out?

I'd wait to hear from both of them in case they want to do something/say something/whatever.

Well Hell, I don't know if he means the elf on the ground or Honeypot... I'm thinking Honeypot. Is the elf on the ground out cold/dead?

Then again, I'm also not sure if I shouldn't just try to support the elf.

The elf on the ground is clearly dead, she hit with enough force to crack open the back of her skull.
Jack VII
Alright then... I'm actually getting tired of these guys killing people. Going to have to ponder this a bit and consider trying to kill the guy now with the elf engaged with him. I'll give it some thought tonight. Probably won't post until tomorrow AM while I think on it.

Just out of curiosity, you as a player or you as a character are getting tired of it?
Jack VII
Probably a little of both. Jack's probably frustrated that these guys somehow have their number at just about every turn, killing witnesses or knowing where the team has been or is going without the team apparently making any headway into the other side. For me, I do enjoy a bit of the heroic side with my shadowrunners and I'm bummed that we're leaving a trail of bodies that would otherwise still be alive if not for our digging.

Well, for the first part, while I can see that it might feel that way, you've actually made a LOT of progress in two days. (Look at all the notes you've gotten, and the connections you've made)

As for the second, well, you are being heroic - but the path there is not always so.

If it is a problem, I can definitely work on lightening the mood - don't mean to bum anyone out frown.gif
Jack VII
Nah man, it's your game world, you shouldn't really alter it to accommodate us.

As for the progress, Jack's probably okay with how much they've accomplished in a few days, but he's very concerned by how much the opposition has apparently learned about them in the same time frame, killing witnesses and contacts as well as apparently knowing some of their movements. He sees an opportunity to figure out what's going on, it all depends on whether he and the elf can take the troll down (assuming he doesn't have back-up).

I appreciate the sentiment, just realize that I consider this our game world more than it is my game world. I'm a very reasonable kind of guy smile.gif

No I get that. Don't worry about bumming people out though. RPGs are supposed to generate some emotional reactions, that's the whole role-playing and character investment aspect of it all. There are supposed to be highs and lows, IMO, otherwise it's just rolling dice.

Anyway, I'm going to think on it for a bit. Maybe the others can catch up to where I am in the narrative.

ETA: Yeah, I'm going to wait until the others catch up to my part of the narrative. If I do run, one of my first actions is going to be to send a message to the group, so I'd rather that come up organically in the thread.
Chrome Head
@Lobo

Please don't change a thing, I love how this game is progressing and I find that there's so much great stuff in your storytelling (and storycrafting), it's amazing. I'm having a blast and I like that we really have to work hard for what we get in return. It makes it all the more fulfilling.

Btw, I'm surprised it took that long to get into a fight, it's not like we haven't been looking for it grinbig.gif
Lobo0705
Thanks guys smile.gif

As far as the rest of the group, I think Amy is taking a watch and see attitude - just waiting on what Grease and Overkill are going to do.

Just posted IC. We may be getting into 2 separate fire fights within 15 minutes of each other!
-DrZ

ETA: Btw, my guess is that we're in some deep shit. If it were me, I'd be rolling in with 2 drones with grenade launchers filled with tear gas or something nastier, and the other two with machine guns with gel rounds (if we're lucky).

ETA: Dammit, I wish I had some rotodrones! smile.gif

Well, preemptively acting against the Lone Star unit before we have seen their intentions could be really bad, so Drave is going to keep an eye on the group of hurt rolling while checking the crowd present for their reaction.

I'm not suggesting any action; just making her aware of it and asking if she knew it was coming.

BTW: Who ended up with the vest? I guess I was a bit confused, I wanted it to end up on whoever was speaking, not necessarily Chomsky (who appears to just be the MC).

-DrZ

EDIT: I'd prefer to have this convo IC, just because this seems like OOC planning to a fluid situation we have time to respond IC to (if that makes sense).

LOL, good question. I remember we determined mine was going to be comically large, but I don't remember if Amy or Overkill offered their vests up. We may only have one of the principals armored up right now.
Lobo0705
Grease's vest is on Greeley. If Overkill or Amy didn't give Chomsky a vest he doesn't have one.

I think it is a good idea to have the conversation in character. You don't have an unlimited amount of time - I will wait a little bit for Chrome or Overkill to post IC and then I will post what happens next.
Chrome Head
Depending on Chomsky's answer, she might give him her vest.
Jack VII
Good luck, I can see this thing going wrong on so many different levels... and almost all ending up with a riot breaking out.

Definitely. I missed work today - my 3 year old brought home the plague from school. That's why I haven't posted much.
Chrome Head
DOes Greeley seem to be expecting this turn of events? How did she react on the stage and in the sky (AR) ?
Always Overkill
Given Drave's well expressed concern; I think he would have given Chomsky my vest; but I overlooked it during the planning phase.

Think we could Retcon that?
Always Overkill
And out of shear curiousity; did anyone of those Yaks get hit when I emptied the entire mags of their SMGs at full-auto back at Sagebrush?

Still enjoy that moment. cool.gif

Deckers Rock.
Lobo0705
@Chrome,

Greeley looks as surprised as anyone

@Overkill

Sure, no problem, Chomsky can be wearing a vest.

Yes several of them got hit by stray rounds smile.gif
Chrome Head
For the record, I always thought Chomsky was a nickname, not his real name. But it's not really for me to say.

Now about these events, I say frag the pooolice.

I'm really considering intervening at this point. I'm really torn.

We can have as many armored vests in police lockup as we wish! rotfl.gif

Of course, that's presuming they're here with a legit warrant, and not just going to take them around the block and murder them.

My thought also. I'm close to just sending that ridiculously powerful spirit on a rampage against those drones. We can take care of the rest nyahnyah.gif

Grease is going to get some great footage of some shadowrunners attacking Lone Star at an arrest to send to Murphy...
Chrome Head
If I take a radical action like that, I'd assume someone is taping regardless of Grease's actions...

It's a really tough decision. Amy wants to protect Chomsky. The question is: does she feel that his life is threatened? If she does, she wouldn't blink at the idea of killing cops to save him. And then say hello to her new friends Public Awareness and Notoriety smile.gif
Chrome Head
Did Amy get to see the warrant ARO?

Also, what should we do now?

You are wearing your AR contacts, so yes you can see it. If you are looking for Bradshere's signature, you aren't going to find it - however that is because warrants would be signed by a judge, not the arresting officer (or the head of a department). It seems to bear out what he is telling you, the judges signature appears to be Harvey Browne.

I'm assuming you are asking Dr. Zaius, Overkill, and Jack what to do now, but if not, and you are asking me, just let me know.
Jack VII
I feel like this is one of those things that should probably be determined IC. It's not quite combat, but suspenseful.
Chrome Head
Yeah I wasn't asking you Lobo wink.gif

I do have a few questions though.

1) There was no spell, ward or magical artifacts near and around the police officers and their cars/drones, correct?
2) What kind of firepower do they seem to have? 2 regular police cars (with likely other officers inside) and 4 drones with automatic weapons? The policemen wear full body armor and what kind of weapons are they carrying?
3) Do policemen that dare to come into the Warrens usually come with this amount of protection and firepower, or is it more or less than that? (relevant skills: Area Knowledge: Warrens; Sprawl Life).

1) Correct. There is no magic around any of them.

2) As you said, 2 officers, one out of the driver's seat of each car, and 4 drones with automatic weapons. The officers are wearing full body armor with helmets, and have pistols in holsters at their side.

3) If anything it seems a little light on manpower, but heavy on drones. Full Body armor and helmet is not unusual. Pistols as sidearms are common - as are shotguns (although neither officer is carrying one).

I am going to wait for Overkill (feel better!) to respond before I say anything more.
-DrZ

ETA: Hypothetically... what would be involved to hack into and take control of one of the rotodrones?

ETA 2: Hmm, I can "Jump into Rigged Device" with 3 Marks, but I don't think I can place any Marks without an Attack or Sleaze rating (which my RCC doesn't have).

You can't actually hack to take control of those drones at all.

Overkill could - but then he is controlling them, not you. (And if someone jumped into the drone, I believe Rigger Control supersedes Remote Control)

Yup, kind of sad. Although you could create a somewhat interesting decker with a Control Rig 1 implant for the express purpose of dicking with enemy drones.

If Overkill wasn't able to get Ramirez on the horn, I was going to defer to you on how we should proceed anyways. Basically, "We can either let them get arrested or stop them. Amy, these are your friends, you make the call."

ETA: Grease will just stay conveniently out of frame of the net of videos he's creating.... Don't worry; I'll be sure to edit creatively to protect the identities of those who may cause mischief..
Always Overkill
And thus, the Aurora Wars have begun...
Always Overkill
Overkill is immediately trying to get Ramirez on comms. I think I am going to start MARKing the guns of the Lone Star Officers on stage. (Though to be honest, there are so many options here I wouldn't mind a few suggestions of what an experienced Combat Decker might do in this situation.)

Imo, a combat decker would try to take away the communication channels first (cause they could call reinforcements, helicopters, etc.), if possible, then the guns starting with the biggest (the drones in this case). At least that's what I think makes most sense from a purely tactical standpoint.

Now, I don't think there's gonna be a war, or even a battle. First, let's see how these two gentlemen react (and the crowd). I'm pretty sure this isn't a fight they want to be in the middle of.
