Description:
Female, 25.
Eyes: Green
Hair: Shock White
Skin: Porcelain
Saint is a thin, yet shapely human female. She has generally caucasian features, but nothing specific as per her significant minor bio-sculpting. What does set her apart are the modifcations she's "inherited". Her entire body is a milky white in the sense of a porcelain doll, accentuated by her equally ghostly pale hair that she keeps styled in a splay of a voluminous shoulder-length "explosion"originating from two large bangs on her forehead, backward. She also has purple biotats in the shapes of various stylish sigils in various parts across her form.
Background:
[ Spoiler ]
Most people think that strippers paying their college tuition by dancing is a a cliche from times immemorial. Some might consider the lowly bunraku parlor girl to be an exception, even less considered is the woman who "willingly" subjects herself to such a torment. Every person owes someone something. Saint owed the wrong people, well her parents did, so the buck got passed on down the line. Since bunraku parlors aren't exactly legal, their code of limitations didn't extend to the age she could be subject to such torments. There are some things that a ten year old girl should never have to deal with, but hey, it's a shitty world... Life goes on, right?
Perhaps her only saving grace was that she had a data filter implanted early on, only after she'd given up resisting. Funny how that works. You'd be surprised how the mind adapts to its surroundings. Eventually she got used to her lot in life, 6 years of it in fact, dealing with the scum of the earth and their claws that knew no limits. She got used to the treatment, some men weren't half bad, as far as she could remember. 6 years of intermitent memories was all she had to show for it when she became too old for her standard fare, besides a deep-seated distaste for the male population and anyone she might call "kin."
Eventually, she'd been used enough that she earned her freedom, that being the closest definition to being thrown out into the street in the middle of the Seattle sprawl. The owner at least kept his word when he said he'd let her go, the finer details were a bit murkier than the rubbish and alley rain puddles she inhabited at that moment. They even had the courtesy to remove her data filter and let her keep the minor biosculpting and cosmetic cybernetics they'd performed on her as a bonus. Hey, a plus is a plus. Even if that allowed her little comfort considering their gender-bending nature.
She got to know Tacoma's in's and out's pretty well, when you live on the street you ain't got nothing but time. The sex trade taught her a few things about how to play to people's emotions. It helped spot the potential meal ticket here, a crash pad there. College dorms were really easy to infiltrate-- Especially for a girl that preyed on less-than-social guys for the extra cramped bedspace. They tended to be perfectly fine with just having a girl in their bed at all. Most of these were real egg heads, and the Matrix was their playground, so she'd humor them when they'd go on tangents about everything and the cybernetic kitchen sink relating to it. It was the least she could do for a hot shower and some borrowed clothes. After awhile, things tend to stick in one's head, and even Matrix jargon like firewalls, IC and nodes became old hat. And after playing the part of interested fling, she even found herself becoming comfortable enough in her role to test her skills at virtual reality. That is until even a reserved college boy couldn't keep his hands to himself. Then it was off to the next dorm, it wasn't long until her "infamy" got public on campus among the students, and thank -insert higher being here- that college is a big experimental phase for some kids. While the guys had labeled her "hands off," she'd managed to net herself some curious co-eds for her trouble. She didn't begrudge the guys, and apologized each time they found out, trying to at least rescue some semblance of decency and anything she could grasp ahold of in regards to friendship at WU. It was strange feeling everything slipping away because she felt using men made her feel better, but seeing these guys hurt by her actions made for a pause in thought. She had to fight the instinct for self-preservation on a constant basis, because it established itself in using others to stay alive. As people don't tend to like being used, it didn't gain her a popular stigma, but she did her best in salvaging anyway. She liked being wanted, not in a physical sense, but within others' company. The world was fully grey, no simple opposing sides, not everyone was the same, and she definitely wasn't when confronted with the though that someone could actually care for her.
So, she was a secret on campus, with so many students it was easy to fit in. And with most of her group getting money from their parents, it wasn't really a burden on them as they would pass her around to keep the RA's off their backs. The age factor was a little off-setting, but eventually most took to her as a little sister, or for those that knew her secret, something else. It was easy fitting in with outcasts, being one herself. In her spare time, she would slip into classes she found an interest in, jot notes, and outside of class she would deal in Matrix surfing on the campus node, and everything it had to offer. She learned almost as much as the people she roomed with during their stay, but not everything is meant to last.
She spent four years living in, and among, the group, but as their terms of education ended they moved out one-by-one, even the girl that had been her girlfriend of sorts in the group, but even then she discovered she liked the real thing in the end. No pun intended. She was 20 at that point in the late 2060's, able to net herself a job. One of the useful things she'd managed was to take it upon herself to visit her parents, and to retrieve the only thing they could offer of any worth to her, an identity. She had it updated, said her fond "fuck you's" and went on her merry way. She was a survivor, she didn't need any of their charity at that point, and she never would from that point on. She decided that she enjoyed the college life enough to attend, it lasted two semesters before the crash of 2069.
This was a boon in two respects, in the ensuing data corruption and chaos, her costs of living had been expunged, and it was easy for her to hack the quickly mashed together wireless network that U-Dub could offer as it tried to piece together records of student enrollment. While she wouldn't inheritly benefit from the knowledge most of her classes had to offer, she did however manage to enstate herself as an alumni with a bachelor's in Computer and Matrix Programming, she'd gone to most of the classes anyway, no harm in benefitting from it without having to pay for the tuition and have to deal with the pesky testing process. The only problem was, she'd been caught. But, caught by a campus Matrix techie that had a soft spot for people dealing with the chaos at the time, especially because he couldn't make heads or tails of her actual enrollement, and it certainly seemed her major had been well-chosen considering the circumstances. That, and most people are suckers for a pretty face. He offered a "community service" of sorts, setting her up with a job monitoring campus traffic on the new system, it certainly paid well enough for her to move off-campus into one of the nearby apartments many students prefered to the pricey dorms, although it was on the edge of town, not a nice place to leave your doors unlocked.
With the added training, she rounded out her abilities with a little unauthorized access into the campus to probe it for weaknesses. She still keeps the job for the practice and some semblance of a steady income. Although, she yearned for something to test her abilities. It wasn't easy, but with a little effort she managed to get herself noticed on some of the Matrix clubs. That's how she met Tomoko, and with a few runs under Saint's belt, the would-be shadowrunner decided that giving up the potential payday and excitement was just something she couldn't dream of losing.
Hope this meets up to par, I love a good bit of strangeness in a character. Let me know if I need to tweak anything.
