@AppliedCheese
To be fair I am applying a lot of pressure: you turned up to a meet, and didn't know the bad guys were setting an ambush at the meet itself. Here very little recon would have helped (there aren't many lurkers, they don't show up on astral, they are chamouflaged / concealed so hard to spot with drones...) and you are being pushed for time (soon the weight of Knight Errant is likely to turn up).

JxJxA
@ Seth:
I have an action for IP2 left, but I think every visible target is currently dead. I might just pull out some grenades out of the smartpack just to have them ready if/when I need them.

@ Aria:
Let me know if you need help getting out of the van. I have a point of fire resistance in my armor and a respirator on as well as ultrasound sight, so I might be able to survive long enough to help guide you out.
Seth
@JxJxA/Aria
I think it will be "exciting" for the first minute while Ammo cooks, after that I suspect it will be straight forward to get to Aria to help him out.
Aria
Come back after a weekend away and this thread has doubled again smile.gif I'll read through it today and see what's going on...

@Suicide Kings
For Ember's summoning way back: fc 4 air spirit 4 hits, resisted 0 hits...I'm guessing that I still have to roll against drain 2 as a min?!? 2 hits, no drain

Before everything that has happened he's on 3 boxes of stun with an hour on a stim [6] patch...

@On a Boat
Silk's attribute boost (str) = 2 hits for str 4, drain = 1 hit so none
Extended climbing = 1 hit then 3 hits to complete
Infiltration rolls (-4 visual perception, -6 thermal) = 5 hits and 8 hits!
Aria

Ouch – take your eye off the ball and you get blown up! At least Ember had just left for the astral and so won’t feel himself get cremated nyahnyah.gif

Soak roll: Bod 3, Impact Armour 4, Armour 16, Cocoon 20, -6 AP = 37D vs 16 = 16 hits = no damage biggrin.gif

Damage would have been stun I assume as the 16P can’t penetrate the cocoon – shake rattle and roll!!!

As a creative use of spirit powers can I get Gale to do an inverted form of engulf and keep me surrounded by clean air while I try and stumble out of the van?

Seth, just a quick question – I’ll fudge the astral scouting bit but I’m a bit confused about how they were able to hide from Copperhead and Ember while we bobbed around above them somewhere. If you’ve found a creative GM way of avoiding the spoiler factor of astral scouting then please let me know ork.gif …I know infiltration works to a certain extend – hiding under inert objects blocks astral LOS as much as real but I wouldn’t have thought a ghille shroud would do the job as the aura radiates out from a person by a certain amount (or at least it did in previous versions of the rules) which is why a mage can target someone inside hardened armour etc…
AppliedCheese
Dealer will be studying that trick too. The better to kill mages.

@Aria

- SK table talk: Be advised; Dealer's bag had 4 grenades and something like 600 rounds of ammo in it. I don't know if Seth has ruled them cooked off or not yet.

-On a boat: You have successfuly infiltrated onto the deck, and are not being observed right now. I'm assuming the rest of team is coming up behind you, and will burn some of your infil hits to help them, to represent a Silk being the point man.

Anything that blocks line of sight works. So for example a perspex box around you would block astral. So if you have a gille that is held a foot away from you that would work. I suspect thick enough bubble wrap would do it too: if the bubble wrap had 1 foot thick bubbles. (I'm going with the idea that the aura is around 6 inches around you, so 1 foot is enough). Enough assensing would spot it anyway: I'm treating them as a -4 die assensing penalty, and letting people have their infiltration for astral (house rule: but they sound about as good as rutherium fibres), I also only use them for the bad guys when they are in prepared positions.

If the spirit gets no hits, you have no drain to resist (at least that's how I have played it. The minimum 2 drain is for spells AFAIK)

I suggest you stay in the van for another minute until the ammo has finished cooking. At the moment there are bullets pinging, and grenades going boom and...
Gale could do a good job of sorting out the fire (details not too important) when you decide to exit.

@AppliedCheese/JxJxA
I suggest you use the Ghillies too. They are bulky to move around but when planing to lurk and observe they are very good. Rutherium is good too, but doesn't affect astral.

@AppliedCheese:
Just noted your comments on the grenades and ammo: They are kind of cooking off now, and I will punctuate the IC with suitable booms in the near future! Fortunately for Ember the Rigger Cocoon is 20 pts of hardened armor.
JxJxA
@ Seth:
Point taken on the ghillies. I'll keep them in mind if we ever have the opportunity to get the drop on someone. nyahnyah.gif

'The Drain Value for Summoning is equal to twice the hits (not net hits) generated by the spirit on the Opposed Summoning Test (minimum 2 DV).'

Emphasis mine. Minimum drain value of 2 also counts for summoning, unfortunately.

Got it thanks.

@OnABoat
Just checking the state:
  • Hackers hacking
  • Astral Mages astrally maging and checking stuff
  • Silk has got on board

Shall I go on board as well?

AppliedCheese
@JxJa
Meddling is what infiltrators do best! Actually, I had this vision of the door being linked to a command detonated directional mine, overwatched by the camera. granted I wasn't expecting to pop my head up into a firing gun barrel...

@ Seth

Boat - That's the sum of it. I believe Khalil is trying to shut an alarm, and robert is failing to notice cthulu.
Feel free to climb aboard. Climb, with infil rolls. So long as you don't glitch the them, Silks performance will basically bring you on for free if you go up her ladder.

Suicide Kings -

Under the assumption round 2 is about to be underway. When does the one body fall off the roof?:

Init 20, 3 IPs.

IP 1

Shoot ghillie #2.

Narrow short burst, called shot (to avoid shooting the spirit. if the spirit is not there yet, aim for the head)

(16 DP + 2 Smart - 3 Visibility - 4 Called shot - Recoil compensated = 11d6)

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3189665/
6 hits
6P/-5, 6 hits, +2 DV after armor, +4 DV before armor if the spirit isn't there.

And repeat
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3189668/
4 hits
6P/-5, 4 hits, -1 to dodge, +2 DV after armor, +4 DV before armor if the spirit isn't there.

IP 2

Assuming the body hasn't fallen off yet and ghillie two bought it...

Try to stop ghillie one form falling off the roof. (rolls?)

Break LOS with a gully.

IP 3

Locate the repeater, physical tap and hack. (rolls?)
Friendbot2000
I have created a character that would probably fit in better in the Dysfunctional Family Campaign. I understand they are in need of muscle and I am not bad in a fight. I can also function as a face and a decent sneaky type. I also have killer investigative and perception skills. I can't wait to get started smile.gif Is there any point that the GMs want me to enter in? Or can I just make up my own reason?

EDIT: Decided to send the sheet in a PM
Seth
@FriendBot
Looks awesome to me

Aria is the GM for dysfunctional family but I suspect he will be pleased there are more people.

Thanks for the PM...I'd send it to Aria too. Your character will fit in fine. I would seriously consider getting 3IPs instead of 2 though. Given all your logic based skills getting PuShEd would be good too: 0.1 essence and 10K for +1 to all logic skills.

Actually I already sent the PM to Aria. I didn't know who was running what so I just hit both of ya smile.gif
You have a good point, I will make those alterations...

Welcome aboard Friendbot...will try and stage the virtual meet with Doza, Jotamon and yourself sometime this week as work allows nyahnyah.gif Seth, can you try and find a way to get Isaac to the meet too?

Thanks all!

Remind me on Pushed, reakt, etc..those are only good for a couple weeks right?
Seth
PuSheD and Reakt last forever: they are permanent changes to your gene structure.

The transgenic "magic potions" last for a couple of weeks. I forget what they are called.
AppliedCheese
Enhanced Protein Exchange? Don't they also come with an optional "this frags your day up if it doesn't react well" rule?

@General

OK we are moving into round 2
  • Dealer: 20
  • Demon:
  • LAW wielder on Sport's warehouse:
  • Last (known) Remaining sniper on roof of Allanby's warehouse:
  • Copperhead:
  • Copperhead's beast spirit:
  • Ember:

@AppliedCheese
IP 1:
Dealer you have the most awesome luck. Not only did you get loads of successes, but even though she aborted to a dodge, she didn't get a single success and nearly glitched. Goodbye last (known) remaining sniper on Allanby's warehouse.

Both of the Gillies were female, both were in rutherium coated light military armor, although neither were using the rutherium coating: the Gillie is just as effective when stationary, turns out it is ballistic armor (like a ballistic bag) and has the added plus of making it hard for you to be seen astrally. Both are still on the roof (they were prone when you shot them)

The device on the roof that the first one was looking at doesn't need hacking: it is a screen receiving an image from a fibre optic. It's not quite mage goggles, as the image was digitized during the process.

The image is that of an ancient but well maintained RV in the warehouse below. The RV is plumbed into water, sewage, power and probably data feeds. The door of the RV is open. The rest of the warehouse is full of shelves of junk: bolts of cloth, old flat pack cases in decaying / rat eaten cardboard...

@General/Again
Status:
The only known enemies are:
  • The badly wounded LAW wielder who is currently not visible on the roof of the Sports Warehouse
  • The Two guards with their little doggie at the north of the warehouse
  • Two Toe Tommy's mooks
  • I almost forgot: the guard in the full immersion hot sim porn in the front office

Copperhead init: 7 + 7d6.hits(5)=3 = 10, 2 IP
Beast spirit init: 8 + 8d6.hits(5)=3 = 11, 2 IP

Actions for Beast spirit: chew on second shooter if still alive (not by the looks of it), inform Copper that Dealer is safe.

Actions for Copperhead:
Holding action in case guards turn up. Primary target is Hellhound: 8d6.hits(5)=2, 8d6.hits(5)=3, Enfield does 7P, AP-1 (adjust for weather/dark, although she will wait till she has a clear shot. Didn't take cover into account, so assume she is not in good cover).

IP 1 (this might be used up by holding action in which case it becomes IP2): Assuming dog takes a dirt nap, attempt to intimidate guards to surrender / run - (frag it spending 4 karma on Intimidation 1 if that's okay by you Seth): Cha 3 + Intimidate 1 = 4d6.hits(5)=1 - 0 if defaulting to Cha.
If dog doesn't drop, take another two shots at it and move into cover: 8d6.hits(5)=3, 8d6.hits(5)=4

IP 2: Warn off the guards again, this time with the help of a couple of bullets, one at each guard (+ from cover).
Intimidate: 4d6.hits(5)=2 - 1 if defaulting
Guard 1: Agi 3 + Shotgun 3 + smart 2 - cover 2 = 6d6.hits(5)=2
Guard 2: Agi 3 + Shotgun 3 + smart 2 - cover 2 - 2nd target 2 = 4d6.hits(5)=2

Edge 1/2
Physical dmg 0/11
Stun damage (4)/11 - negated by stim patch for 40 minutes until 00:45 game time. Cram crash (6S) will hit at around 05:00 (at which point she will likely pass out).

Beast spirit (F3)

Since the bodies are no longer plummeting down the roof, lets change the 2nd IP to:

Simple 1 Look for other potential bad people.

(PER DP 8 + Enh 3 + Active 3 - Visibility (thermal) 3 - (?) enemy thermal masking) = 11d6, count enemy mods form the rear back
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190495/
..and i cant see the results. Oh well. it'll add to the suspense.

Simple 2 Determine if device is what was giving off the repeater signal. (hardware DP 10. Presumably this is when he picks up the fiber feed to look in)

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190490/
5 hits

Seth
@AppliedCheese
This is a very simple device, hardened to prevent extraneous radio transmissions, made tough so that it doesn't fail in the field. You doubt if this is the source of any significant radio transmissions: it's just a screen on the end of fibre as far as you can see in the 1 second you have looked at it.
JxJxA
@ Seth:

Demon's Initiative Roll: 8d6 for 4 hits

Round 2: Demon
Initiative: 12
IP: 2
Seth
@General

Round 2 looks like this:

1: The guards and dogs come round the corner. The dog gets shot. The two guards put their hands in the air and generally gibber. You can shoot them if you want to be bloodthirsty
2: Dealer deals with the visible sniper (and while he doesn't kill her dead, Copperhead's beast does)
3: There are no other visible targets.
4: Two grenades at least go off in the van that Ember and Pixel are in. Good thing Ember is in that rigger cocoon, although it's starting to take buckle and bend in places.

I am assuming that:
  • Copperhead is menacing the guards
  • Dealer has had a very quick look at the fibre widget, and is mostly keeping an eye out for other threats
  • Demon is looking very hard for the LAW shooter that fell prone last round. If you want you can shoot blindly through the roof, or take some other action
  • Ember is astraly projecting with Gale, probably in the main warehouse

I don't need to stay in combat rounds, if you want to write up what has happened then let me know what your intentions are.

@AppliedCheese
You more than any one can just about hear the response in Two Toe Tommy's warehouse: an alarm has sounded, and they are responding to mostly a prepared plan. You suspect you have at least a minute before they will be coming over here.

JxJxA
@ Seth:

I'm just wondering how many penalties I'd be sucking trying to fire blindly. There's the -2 for firing from cover and then -6 for blind fire, am I missing anything else? If that's all, I might just take a shot at it to see if I hit anything.

Contacts
Benny (Fixer) [Connection R3, Loyalty R2]
Benny is a no nonsense guy from Jersey and he is a long way from home. Reason being is that he partook is some not too savory business ventures that forced him to leave Jersey and set up new roots here in Seattle. He worked his rep back up to snuff and now is decently connected to the Seattle shadows. He knows Ajax's skill set specializes in surveillance, due to his experience as a tabloids reporter and private investigator so he gives him jobs suited to his particular skillset. Ajax doesn't know too much about Benny because he has never met him in person. Benny always operates via the Matrix and drops off equipment by an anonymous running service that doesn't ask any questions. He does this to protect himself in case the people that he burned in Jersey come looking for him.

Gin (Street Snitch) [Connection R3, Loyalty R2]
Gin is scum, plain and simple, but a great informant on what is going on in the streets of Seattle. He has a decent sized network of people that he can go to for information. He is loyal, for a price. If you pay him well he won't turn on you, but if you cross him or give him a shitty tip then he will turn on you at a moments notice. Luckily Ajax greases his palm pretty well so they are starting to have a pretty good business relationship. That is all that matters to Gin, business. But first a little back story of him. Gin grew up on the streets of Seattle, not even a penny to his name. He clawed his way out of the gutter by sheer cunning and manipulation. He is now a far cry from eating food out of dumpsters. Now he lives in the high part of town with hired muscle to protect him from any wannabes that want to muscle in on his business. As said before he doesn't take kindly to insults because he is a very prideful man, he has placed hits out on several particularly insulting individuals and they all are six feet under, one of them is a shedim but that is a different story. He is not someone to be messed, but if he likes you then you are golden.

Physical Description
Ajax looks older than he really is primarily due to his alcoholism. He is about average height for a dwarf with long, brown, unkept hair tied into a pony tail. He wears whatever helps him blend into the crowd, a necessity for his line of work. He doesn't havevery much scarring because he avoids combat whenever he can, but he is pretty handy with a pistol. All in all he just looks average, a fact that really helps him get the dirt on anyone and anything.

Background
Ajax grew up in a middleclass family with a nice house and a nice income. Nothing really horrible about his childhood. He was very intelligent and perceptive so he achieved excellent marks in school and managed to get into a very prestigious university. He studied journalism and graduated at the top of his class, but after his wife of seven years was infected by HMHVV he became disenchanted with corporations due to their treatment of the woman he loved. Eventually his wife turned feral and Horizon euthanized her. It was that day that Ajax quit his job. Not only was working for a megacorp not his style but his grief for his wifes death sent him over the edge and he turned tot he bottle. He used his skills to become a private invesitgator after quitting and had an old hacker friend erase as much of his history as he could so he could go off the grid. He was pretty successful at his job, but he craved the thrill of getting the scoop and broadcasting it to the world. He did some research and found a small tabloid that wasn't run by any corporate interest and he signed on as a reporter for them. Unfortunately the pay is shit, but he enjoys what he does so it doesn't matter. Trouble is that he can't sustain his lifestyle on this job alone so he turned to the shadows to make some extra cash. His boss is pretty lenient and knows that Ajax is at his best when he isn't behind a desk so he lets him run free as long as he gets a big story in by the deadline. Ajax delivers every time and he has built up the tabloids rep a bit due to the high quality stories he nets for them before anyone else reports on them. As much as he enjoys his job, he can never shake the ghost of his wife and it always leads him to a bar to drink away his sorrows.

Just a thought, you could also choose to do cover fire for the rest of the team if applicable. Keep the guy pinned down while someone else sneaks around and finds him. I think there are rules for cover fire but I am not certain. If not you can just ask Seth I suppose

Shot 2:

I'll edit the post I just put up to include the shots. smile.gif

@AppliedCheese
Just checking my understanding:
  • You have cut a little hole in the roof, and have a flyspy on the other side (inside the warehouse, presumably looking at the RV)
  • You are scanning for signals

To short circuit a load of posts between you and me: If you get 4 EW +Scan hits, you find a repeater signal, coming from the RV below. There is a lot of data streaming out: probably someone is making a copy of a lot of data.
Options oh script kiddie:
  • Hack the device (if you computer + analyse/simple action you find it's a device rating 3)
  • Copy the traffic for analysis at a later date.
  • Track where the device is sending the data.
  • Anything else you can think of

@Friendbot/JxJxA
Mostly I use the suppressing fire rules to keep people pinned down, which require an automatic weapon. Held actions with sniper rifles tend to work really well too.

JxJxA
This position is getting scary. The ammo and grenades from below are cooking off, and zinging around. The LAW shooter was badly hurt by your second shot, but you haven't seen her since, and the roof where she went prone has now collapsed. Odds are she went in the flames...unless she was a nemesis ork.gif.

@Copperhead
That just worked. The guards were terrified and just slumped when you hit them.

@General
Over the next 20 seconds, another 1000 rounds of ammo cooks off, along with another half dozen grenades...being anywhere near that warehouse will be exciting. You might want to think about how you are going to get out of here, as your wheels are broken.

Time line:
approximately 30..90 seconds before Two Toe Tommy's men come to investigate. Approximately 3 to 5 minutes before the Crimson Spikes arrive.

AppliedCheese
Oh, hackerrificness. I'm assuming a target of 3 for the firewall.

Bought hits for scan + analyze, with RF scanner 6. 11 DP = 2 simple actions = 3 seconds

Countdown from 60 ( likely time for tommy)
Scan Down = 57 seconds

(hacking 1 + exploit 6 (max system is 4) = 5d6)
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190592/
1 hit
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190599/
1 hit
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190600/
2 hits

For a total of 3 tries (or two if its an easy firewall). Running stealth 6, but I assume that's stealth 4 due to system. If any of Molly's stuff is opitmized or ergonomic, Dealer probably isn't talented enough to take advantage of it. Pixel would be ashamed, I'm sure.
9 Seconds (48 remaining)

Same DP for crashing analyze
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190603/
1,3,1 = 5. Should crash it on try two.
6 Second (42 remaining)

Sniffer
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190605/
1,2,1 = 4 sniffing traffic on try 2.
6 Seconds (36 Seconds remaining)

Decrypt
Forgot about this until later, now Invisible castle is delayed. I'll assume bought hits for 9 seconds.
27 seconds remaining.

Then data search
(Data Search 4 + Log 6 = 10d6)
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190607/
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190608/
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3190609/
1,2,1 = 4 hits.

Sufficient? At least invisible castle chose now, rather than shooting time, to go slow.
9 Seconds (18 seconds remaining)

P.S.

I think its April 16th now.

P.P.S

Dealer gets hit with richochets on alanbys warehouse, or demon?
Seth
@AppliedCheese
Welcome to the world of the script kiddie.
  • So by all rights the firewall should have alerted, but it didn't: 1 too few successes.
  • There was no analyse program running
  • The data isn't encrypted.

This looks to you like the equivalent of a modern wifi usb stick that you can buy from PC World. Stick it into any computer anywhere and it will have a go at making it's data available.

There is an icon hanging in free space composed of lots of little old fashioned integrated circuits: "I'm coming for you next Pixel". As you watch the world Pixel morphs and turns into "Dealer".

You haven't been ambushed, Pwned, black ICed or otherwise discommoded.

P.S. Ty for the date...sigh...that's a lot of posts
PPS. Demon was getting hit by richochets (no real damage...just a gentle GTFO warning). Mind you a couple probably whistle past you. I have edited IC post

Duly noted, grabbing my stuff and bugging out. I see my note to the sniperess may have given her the greatest gift of all: plot armor! nyahnyah.gif

Hi all, Seth asked me if I wanted in on Suicide Kings so I'll be making a hacker/rigger character today and posting it later but can I get a general run down on the events of that particular thread? Sorting through 35 pages is going to be tricky right now due to plans with my fiance.
AppliedCheese
My Understanding (pre-molly may be flawed)

-Ember gets hired by John Teague to go pay a little visit to Allanby, a.competitor in the world of hi stakes music. Allanby owns the back catalog to Jet Black, and has managed to acquire a hot new group, the Concrete Spectres.
-Someone (probably Teague) takes a crack at Ember's family while he's off. Something to do with his wife knowing things.
-Ember hires Copperhead and Demon to reinforce him.
-They visit Allanby, and he more or less tells them to pound sand.
-They leave. Somebody kills Allanby and A KE Detective who was overwatching the site. The footage looks like the trio are responsible, and the KE are neatly informed.
-The trio tries to go to a motel. KE send the Firewatch. Not an HTR, not the local KE SWAT, freakin bug-city busting, tac nuke deploying, famous for full on assault firewatch. It just so happens that the Toxic Terrorist Gamma (big name global terrorist) is in the hotel, with a team of well armed associates. Whether this is deliberate or coincidence is unclear, but explosions, magic, and running away ensue. Downtown Seattle turns into Beirut for 15 minutes.
-Much running. The trio get rid of some commlinks they were given. The media immediately associate the trio with terrorists, and post a massive bounty. KE begins locking down parts of the city.
-Hansai Jones, partner of the dead detective, decides to use the now-refugee runners to pursue (alleged) suspicions about Johnathan Teague. He meet them at the Drunken Drone, owned by a gunrunner named Molly. He introduces them to Pixel, free-lance semi-shadow hacker extraordinaire. He tells them they need to hit a warehouse in the barrens to recover both proof of their innocence and Teague's guilt in this.
-Molly calls in a favor with the Vory to reinforce the team. The Vory figure Dealer owes them. Dealer figures its better than starving and/or being cut off from most of his contacts.
-Everybody is at the drunken drone, they buy stuff from molly.
-An unknown corporation sends a full up hit squad, including a fragging hard to hit sniperess, to attack Molly's. Molly says run. The runners say "but our hacker is in the middle of a firefight, and we can't hack without a hacker.
-Brutal firefight. Corpsec all die. Demon gets winged by his new lady love markswoman. Hansai gets damn near shredded by assault rifles. When its clear they've lost, suicide rigs go off in all the corp sec guys armor. Messy. Molly gets geeked by emm386, a drek hot hacker.
-Firewatch will be here in "87, 86, 85". The media flocks to the bar, the runners run away, hide out in a panic room. More news about them being terrorists.
-Teague hires a gang to hit Copperhead's gang. There are casualties. Before going quiet, they tell Copperhead that another gang has been hired to hit the allanby warehouse.
-Dealer's stock broker starts asking about teague's company. He asks the wrong people the wrong questions. Dealer's fixer kills him, leaves town, and tells Dealer the Vory won't know him til the heat goes away. Oh, and Hansai Jones has pissed off everyone EXCEPT the yaks, and none of the yaks are talking. By the way, teague's company? MCT dummy corp. MCT being the company that started as a yak cover...
-Runners go to the warehouse. Everything is going well until they notice other sneaky types got to the warehouse before them. Just as thye make the realization...
-AMBUSH! A LAW kills Pixel, wrecks her van, and Ember is only saved by a judicious secondary cocoon. He is still trapped in burning van full of cooking ammo.
-6 seconds later, three very professional folks are dead (well, Demon shoots one and she probably falls into the inferno), the local security company has surrendered, there is a hacker hacking the node inside the warehouse, the mafia to the west are wondering whats going on, and a bike gang is about 5 minutes out form hitting this place.
-There is a security guard running hot sim full immersion porn who doesn't notice any of this.
- Teague is holding a press breakfast at Penumbra at 0800

Here is a summary I did some time ago http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?show...t&p=1103046

Since then as AppliedCheese described it:

The fire fight at the Drunken Drone is over:
  • Everyone got chewed up
  • Molly was Psychotropically Black ICed to unconsiousness
  • Hansai stayed behind to deal with Knight Errant

They headed out to a panic room prepared by Molly and healed up.
  • Contacts are now being squeezed for information. There is a serious reward on the character's heads. Some contacts have been killed, others are in hiding.
  • Copperhead gets a head's up via her contacts (before they go into hiding) that Teague is hiring a bunch of bikers: the Crimson Spikes to visit Allanby's warehouse.

They are now at Allanby's warehouse. I'll just remind you that they are here because Allanby kept lots of secret recording of all his meetings, that he made copies of in this warehouse. There were (at least) 3 of (probably) Teague's people (actually they were all female) at the warehouse. Two snipers and one with a LAW which was used on the van. Two of these are dead, and one is badly wounded/missing/probably fallen on top of the burning van with the 1000 rounds of ammo and half dozen grenades.

There appears to be no immediate (next 30 seconds or so) threat.

The current time line is:
  • 30..90 seconds from now "Two Toe Tommy's men" (he is a famous Mafiosa running dodgy goods out of the warehouse to the west) will probably come and have a look at the big bangs / shooting / spirit mayhem.
  • 3..5 minutes from now, the Crimsom Spikes complete with their two kidnapped girls will roar onto the scene and admire the flames.

I have a plan for bringing you in, which I'll refine once I see your character/contacts...
AppliedCheese
So, to be clear, i have the data in hand, I just need to plug it in? Or do i need to descend into the warehouse and retrieve said item?
Seth
To be clear:
  • You have a monitor with a fibre optic camera in your hand
  • Someone else is streaming all the data in the RV to...somewhere... you can copy the data that is being streamed
  • That's all widget that you have hacked into does: it lets someone stream data out.

If you want the data you have to:
1: Hope the data you want is currently being streamed
2: Get an admin account on this widget, reset it, and start it streaming all the data again
3: Go down to the RV and get the data either by hacking it, or by removing the records physically

Allanby was big on his not trusting networks. The only way data got copied in was using some wierd dark fibre quantum cryptography technique: one way. The only reason the data is being streamed out is that someone has got in the RV and has fitted this widget.
AppliedCheese
From the data searches in question, is the information I want currently being streamed? It might be time for an australian repel.
Seth
If you get 4 successes on an extended datasearch + analyse, 1 complex action test (I'm making that up, but it sounds right), you will find that it is streaming data from recordings in Allanby's office. As you watch you see the following files being shipped: April 2nd 15:00:00, April 2nd 14:59:00, April 2nd 14:58:00...etc.

AppliedCheese
Fortunately, that's exactly what the last datasearch hit. (in 9 seconds). Since the evidence I need is at least the 14th onward...time to drop in most stealthily.

Cut out a skylight. Tie stealth rope to fixture. Snap in a d-ring. Rappel glove on the left hand, ex-shocker in the right. Let the fly spy do a once around the area, final check with endoscope 360, and then in we go...

So:

Perception (8 DP + Enh 3 + Active 3, low light negates low light) = 14 D6

Climbing (for the aussie repel - essentially you flip the normal repel and come down headfirst, with your brake hand high as opposed to low. You don't have a guide hand...which in this case is carrying the ex shocker) (8 DP + Assisted 2 - "Called Shot" doing it aussie 2) = 8D6

Now I just need IC to come up.

@Cheese

What exactly is happening to the boat? It seems that the system is going haywire but i'm not sure exactly how.
AppliedCheese
In mundane terms, an alarm is going up. You need to mute it, then "edit" the weight-error back out of the system. You have 1 combat turn to do so before people start asking why deck-net is chugging and related systems start to do cascading failures. Which will definitely bring a spider.
Seth
@AppliedCheese/On the boat
  • Well this is my most embaressing die roll so far: Critical Glitch on climbing aboard. I know what I'm spending my next karma on...
  • I'd kind of like to turn that critical glitch into a normal glitch with a point of edge...
  • Composure roll to not make a load of noise: 3 successes
  • I'm proposing with that roll (and the edge) that I slip and fall, but catch the rope again.

Aha I have just had an idea: can I trade a service from my spirit to trigger it's guard power to stop me falling?

I'll wait for your response before posting...
