That weird double-short-post I just did was only because the computer was glitching on me - it posted my first short IC post twice, and I didn't want that in the IC thread, so I just made something up to edit in in its place.
At this point, feel free to keep talking with St. Pierre. Or shift to another scene. Whatever.
If you want to talk to Miguel, go ahead and move in that direction, either in this scene or another.

You keep your composure wonderfully.
Kip appears determined to push all the security ugliness forward ASAP.
The board guys are simply not particularly concerned with all this. They did their thing, coming along to lend authority to the proceedings. They accepted a friendly drink. Now they are done, and have no interest in endangering their cushy shareholdings by becomine unnecessarily involved in the intrigues of the younger officers of the company.

And yes, he is at Mass every Sunday morning, and although he has his entourage and special balcony, you feel you would be allowed to approach him.
Or you could try to go through St. Pierre or one of the priests, all of whom seem to have access.
Go ahead and IC moving forward with that for now.

2nd wave, JohnOk, basically I try to persuade Kip, that handling me like a mad-magician-mass-murderer only makes him look weak, so hegives me a bit more room to breath.
The most important points are as follows in that order of importance.
-not have my headware scanned: While I really wonīt keep stuff I have on headmemfor long, I still would want to spare me the humiliation and have some data to crunch, until I can access some secret data-archive -unless I get killed one way or theother before. So in the long run, it makes no big difference IC or OOC.
-gain some time, to gather personal stuff (pictures and stuff like that) from my office and appartment in the HQ. (EDIT: If that dosnīt work, Iīll have him explain his demands
exactly, to gain more time - reading everything up and asking more questions about technicalities, if he cites paragraphes again EDIT-END)
-gain Kob Parkerīs and/or Alice Monīs assistence to gather my belongings and escort me outside
-EDIT: Earn the ability to make comm-calls. I know this will be quiet hard to get, thus itīs at the end of my list EDIT-END
Another question is, to what extend Iīd keep my regular lifestyle till trail - though I probably wonīt use much if any of it.
Here is a social roll - negotiation I guess, as usual without modifires
[ Spoiler ]
Charisma (7) + Influence (4) = 11 dice
[5] 4 4 2 2 [5] 1 [5] [5] [5] 1 Hits:5
Using Edge, to re-roll non-hits (6es re-rolled):
Charisma (7) + Influence (4) + hits (-5) = 6 dice
3 [6] [5] 3 [6] [6] 1 [6] 3 4 Hits:5
Thatīs 10 hits total without modifires. 1 Edge left
adamu
Dec 14 2006, 01:47 PM
MK Ultra
Okay, you got a fat critical success on the negotiation roll - I hope that Edge was worth it - it won't refresh until you're in Seattle....
What that success means is that you can pretty much run the situation - within one limit - and that is that you will end this scene and the scene at the apartment with not a single thing you didn't pay BP for at chargen. Go along with that and you can roleplay this any way you like.
Chalmers is weak, and afraid of you.
If you want to get Alice and/or Kob in the room with you, just IC how you do it and it'll work - that's the crit success.
If you want to persuade Mr. Korthals to approve you without doing any scans, cool - that's the crit success.
If you want to make commcalls - just IC how you persuade Chalmers to go for it - that's your crit success.
- Gathering personal stuff is no problem.
But Chalmers and the guards will rush you along - brutishly if you force them - they want you out of the office.
Once you are out of the building, they can't force you to do anything. But they tell you that they are going to clean out your apartment - so if you don't go straight there to get your stuff - it'll be gone.
And again - by the end of a couple of hours, you are out of the office and out of the apartment, with only that gear you have paid BP for.
Now, you have earned the ability to go ahead and IC for Chalmers and the guards within those parameters. Kob and/or Alice will stick with you throughout this experience.
I suppose once you are out of the apartment, you will want to discuss weightier issues with them. I will handle their responses on those things.
You can contact the runner team if you wish.
You have made many references to blackmail material. Hmmm. This isn't anything that was ever 'paid' for, and I don't recall you actually doing anything 'in game' to put this together. On the other hand, it is the sort of thing John would definitely have done.
Don't want a game-breaker here - so let's say you have enough personal dirt on key RFS leadership that once they fire you they are unlikely to pursue the matter further. But you do not have anything that would give Lanier or Ares serious pause.
Okay, I think that pretty much covers most of what you can and can't do in upcoming IC posts.
So IC as far forward as you like. Really far - fine. Just a little bit? Fine. I don't expect you to get through all this in one post - I am just trying to get all the issues covered in this one big OOC post, since I don't know which of these things you'll want to address first.
MK Ultra
Dec 14 2006, 04:25 PM
All cool, the black-mail stuff was realy just fluff, I didnīt expect to get anything from it but a valid point for negotiations (which dosnīt realy dependon
John having anything, but on his reputation that he could and probably would). As I posted IC,
John did never plan for his corporation to auto-disintegrate after his own death, so there is no really hard stuff out there to be automatically released (that would be a security issue, too, as some glitch or randomhacker hitting gold could do much damage outside the parameters it was meant to do so - thatīs the doubleedged sword of paranoia, you got to be as afraid of your precautions going wrong, as of not having any
).
The rest it really neat! Weīll see if it was worth the Edge, but from a plain IC perspective it definitly was

Cash-Pool (4) = 4 dice

-On an online-account attached to my fake ID: 1520
-In my smuggling compartment (which is also holding the ID): 2k on one certified credstick + 500 in various UCAS-$-bills + 500 in various british pound-bills

Starting cash disposition looks fine.
As noted at the beginning of the Up from the Bottom thread, keeping track of your money is your job.
Note that while High lifestyle subsumes a lot of expenses, you will not have it until you reach Seattle. Outside Seattle you will soon have Street lifestyle, so will have to pay for every little thing you do (and for the time being I'll want to know of every instance when you use any SIN or fake SIN-registered cred).

MJ & Vegas
All those rolls look fine.
Vegas PMed me earlier about you guys' astral state, and I should clarify here.
You have both been transported to the Metaplane of the Seelie Court through Astral Gateways (so you don't have to be an initiate, and you don't have to deal with the Dweller on the Threshhold).
Thus, you are both technically in Astral Projection.
However, the nature of this Metaplane is that while you are on it, you have all the characteristics of your physical self. So you will fight just as you would in the meat.
EXCEPT - that is all just perception. So everything will be as though you were in the meat BUT only Mana spells work - no Physical spells.
Also note that, technically, for a focus to come with you into the astral, a projecting magician must activate any foci he takes with him in advance. However, since the story essentially railroaded you onto this metaplane with no warning you'd be astrally projecting, then I will say that the 'physical-seeming nature of this Metaplane allows you to reach back to the real world and activate those sustaining foci.
Mister Juan, since your IC post has you launching right into battle, then nothing more need be said. You are about 10 meters from Patrick. He's as eager to do battle as you are.
I need your declarations and rolls for the first combat turn.
And pay close attention to the words of the queen in my final IC post.

Since physical spells don't work, Conall can simply not cast Improved Reflexes on himself, since it's not a mana based spell. This should bring down his total drain to 1S, and his Initiative to 8 (1 IP).
Now, lets get down to business.
Since last thim they fought, Patrick charged him with all he had, Conall is going to hang back and wait for him to come to him... that is, if he goes first on initiative. If he does, he's going to delay his action until Patrick charges him (since they're 10 meters appart... it's likely that he will). This would count as a Defender Receiving Charge, and so, give him a +1 dice when he attacks Patrick a split second before he's on top of him.
Of course, Conall will bring out the claws.
