Okay - regarding the Wolverine uniform. You had plenty of video and you got a zillion successes on the Fashion spell, so you get the uniform perfect. Note, however, that I specified in the recent OOC post regarding what you get on the red carpet feed that although they are in dress uniforms, the guards out front are packing sidearms.
Conall will know that no law enforcement professional will fail to notice if he's not properly armed, or, in this case, not armed at all.

Wow - I apologize for being so computer-illiterate!
I have not paid nearly enough attention to the Wiki you guys all made. Yikes!
I have already given out some karma to the people that initiated it - but...
Who made the house rules page? (Which shows that I'd actually already confirmed the Extended Test house rule but then forgot about it!)
Who did the weather thing?
Who did the locations?
Gotta keep rewarding this excellent campaign support with karma...
You guys are all awesome.
Vegas - how do I get approved to add stuff to our Wiki? Just send a join space request like I did for Gutter?

Yep! Now that you're getting the hang of it. I can approve you asap if you want to do it now

Yeah - I will go and do it now (though I doubt I'll write much personally, since no one is going to give me any karma for it!).

OK I'm anal and I'm manipulating the Wiki a bit.
I am making a single page for ALL locations and another single page for ALL NPC's instead of having it clutter the front page and or each location have a separate page for a one-line description. Hopefully this helps a bit.
Feel free to add to it as you see fit, but if we can keep to the new format I'd be happy

So here's where we are ---
You have your approved arrival times.
Krait/Carla have posted arrival. Syren/Paddy have not.
Are you going to link up once you get down there? Or are you just totally doing two separate teams now? My impression was the latter.
In either case, my next input is when you arrive on site. Just let me know when/who/how, either IC or OOC, and you will start getting IC input from me on what you encounter, and of course you can ask OOC questions based on that - or just start doing things.
Or keep doing prep stuff. Whatever. Let me know if you need anything.

Did I miss a post somewhere that is now floating out in the internet ether? I see nothing regarding Carla and Krait's arrival.. or am I completely missing something?
As for meeting up, I don't know that we have the kind of time to spend dicking around meeting up and the like. We all seemed to agree to the two pronged approach and tied up the "loose" ends as far as communications went via Conall's post.
I'll try to get an arrival post up for the twins here in a few.. hopefully if I can pull it together.

Cool, Vegas, you're there. Parking was Y50.
Assume since Paddy is still in own clothes you want to wait till he changes to try to go in?
Anyway, once you are in the parking structure, there are lots of signs directing guests to either the Red Carpet entrance (VIPs only) and the entrance for regular ticket holders.
Vegas
May 16 2007, 03:27 PM
I'm leaving that choice in MJ's hands.. I don't want to railroad him
Is it safe to assume that while at Meg's the tickets were "shared" between all 4 people, or does Krait still hold them all?
My plan is to try to stay within the lovely radius that the mindlink provides Conall and Etain to be able to shoot thoughts to one another as they try to get close to Zephyr
adamu
May 17 2007, 03:01 PM
Tix are electronic anyway. So you either shared them out back at the diner (easier and preferrable to me), or you can just give him a call and he can send them to you.
As the parking structure is not on the map, let's say it is just off the west edge, next to the convention center.
I am pretty pumped about this right now - just because you guys will actually be DOING something, and not stuck doing nothing but matrix searches and so on.
That was basically my fault, by the way, for insisting on getting the timelines in sync.
But now that you are all together, the game-time clock on Esmeralda is ticking...so hopefully you will be DOING things steadily from here on out.

VegasI´d say they got the tix at Meg´s, I was a bit confused about the planning -because it had sounded to me OOC, that we where meeting ub in Ft.L again and doing all the magic stuff there- and by sudden departure of the twins, so I forgot to include the ticket-transfer in the IC.
BlueRondoI´d suggest, we go in with the uniforms on -except the jackets- and waring our street-cloths jackets over them. Then one of us checks in my back-pack (with our street-cloths) while the other one is waiting with the uniform-jackets somewhere. This way we won´t get any odd looks, because we are service-members that use the regular entrance/tickets and check in their stuff instead of putting it whereever all the other workers put it.
AdamuOnce we are approaching the entrance, I´ll start scanning for wifi-signals from security members and/or other staff (especially caterers). Decrypting if needed and then try to tap their communication (and especially looking for signals they are sending to doors, etc. that I might need to spoove for our plan to work).
Made 4 hits on a EW/Scan-Test, so I should find what I´m looking for, even if they are running hidden. Since time is not yet of the essence (at least not a combat turns more or less), I´ll buy hits for decryption (2 hits/CT, max 8 CT). (btw, you didn´t decide to restrict extended tests and then forgot about it, I just updated the wiki when you ruled so this time). Also 4 hits for Intercept Wireless Signal, 3 are needed. Phhoo, I was worying this wouldn´t work (Imagin a giant manga sweat-bead on my forehead)
I will also be scanning for hidden signals in general (TH 15+, buying 16 hits, by doing so for 8 CT). If there are not too many, I´ll probably try tapping some of them, too and see what´s flying through the air.
The rules for all these actions are on p. 225
Here are some rolls:
[ Spoiler ]
Detect Wireless Node (should be no problem, unless all sec/service signals are in hidden mode, in that case):
Autosoft (4) + Scan (5) = 9 dice
[5] 4 4 2 2 [5] 1 [5] [5] Hits:4
Autosoft (4) + Sniffer (3) = 7 dice
[5] 1 3 [6] [5] 3 [6] Hits:4

I didn't quite understand your plan for getting us in. Where exactly would we put the uniforms on? If we're not wearing the jackets and they're not in the backpack, then where are we hiding them?
Carla seems to be under the impression that they will enter the center as caterers, so maybe you can explain the plan again IC.

The way I read his plan was he was suggesting you wear your regular jackets over the catering uniform tops so you can walk in the front door with the tickets that he got for everyone instead of trying to walk through the door for catering services which might require ID/key/whatever.

All right - as usual I have pored over your rolls and gear and the rules and your skills and so on, but can find no flaw in your reasoning. Thus, as you approach the convention center, a sea of wireless signals is an open book to you. The problem is that there are literally thousands of different signals.
My impression is that you wish to isolate the catering service and the security channels.
Although it will take a lot of rolls, I am sure you will make them, so I won't bore us with the catering service - so you are totally locked onto their signal and can hear anything they say.
Security is harder, as they are aware of the vulnerability of wireless traffic. For that reason, they all their comm gear automatically changes frequencies in unison according to a prearranged pattern every few minutes (there's probably a word for that, but I don't know what it is). Each time they do, you have to reacquire them, and then decrypt all over again. Unless you can devise some other convincing way to stay locked onto their signal, I will generously say that you can hear them for (on average - it is actually very irregular) 20 out of every 60 seconds. So each time you want to hear something you will have a 33% chance of getting all or part of it.
You don't identify wireless door-opening traffic.
Now that that is all done - you will have to let me if there is anything specific you are listening for.
At this time, everything seems fairly routine on both channels.
Both teams
If everyone will take a quick glance at the map, the red carpet entrance is the big portico in the center of the south side of the building. It's pretty obvious.
The regular ticket entrance is the stairway at the SE corner that goes into the east end of the vestibule.
The catering staff entrance should be visible to you on the NE corner, just under the kitchen, and next to the Hilton, which is where all the caterers are actually dispatched from.
Some larger catering deliveries go through the loading docks on the north side of the building.
I will chime in for y'all once I hear OOC or IC that you are approaching one of these entrances. If you approach IC, feel free to describe some of what you see, although you should leave security details to me, of course.

Absolutely no need for any timestamp edits, as all the recent comm-talk could have been done from the cab en route.

Honestly, I have lost track of whether you are carrying or wearing your new uniforms.
I very much appreciate your attention to detail, but there comes a point where we need to keep things moving.
Two things are important about the uniforms -
1) I know you have them, and what quality they are.
2) I do need to know exactly whether you are carrying them, wearing them, or wearing them under other clothes when you enter the convention center.
Everything else in between is some really mundane stuff that you are free to fluff and improvise however you like. Change wherever you like, mention that you already changed, or have Vegas back-edit something.
I am really not going to try to trip you up on this. Carla carrying a gun through security, maybe. Paddy not having a gun to go with his uniform - there's another possible problem.
But whether you changed in the bathroom or the bushes, that is stuff you should be able to undertand is NOT a key detail, and move forward.
I encourage people to work with me on understanding the difference between things that are GAME SUBSTANTIAL and things that are basically either FLUFF or BORING LOGISTICS. Neither of the latter two things are worth a 24-hour post cycle.
Sure, you might make a mistake and overstep - no one will get angry at you and your character won't die over it. But your GM will be VERY happy you made the effort and VERY happy things kept moving.

It's however you want it to be, and since it is a dress version of their uniform, it is not bulky. (It also does not have sidearm like ALL THE OTHER GUARDS, something Paddy would certainly notice.)

Ok, executive decision on Etain's part... headed for the "general entrance" but going about it the "long" way (all the way around the building) since she'd rather make her "scene" with the "fans" on the less showy side of the building vs. risk not making a "proper" entrance in VIP (in a limo and all).

May 21 2007, 10:25 AM
Based off a previous convo with MJ, I'm gonna run with under (if at all).
Caveat to that, are people being allowed into the convention carrying bags of any type, or is everyone being searched?
If we can logically get that answer then I'll make a clearer "executive decision"
adamu
May 21 2007, 10:28 AM
It would suck to have the bag searched and someone find that uniform. But he'll be wearing it under his clothes, right?
Anyway, bags are only physically searched in 2070 in two situations - very lo-tech security, or super-high security.
For events like this, your money would be on the security having scanners through which you and your bags will pass. Approaching the regular ticket entrance and standing in line, you will see that that is the case. Almost everything is proceeding electronically, with human and spirit guards overwatching the process.
