Good to see you have your RL priorities straight cool.gif

In case no one caught it, Bubba set his watch back to Denver time, instead of forward.

Is the team leaving Cedar City before he catches up? He should have been right behind you all.
Kliko
Need him to catch up. Oh my, they probaply have a good laugh once they find out about the timezone settings.

Sounds good. We can skip the driving for the most part. Let us know when we get to the next border crossing.

I'm all for moving things forward. Lets rumble!
[ Spoiler ]

I also edited my last IC somewhat.
galenbd
Kliko, I hope you realize the meet is not in the Ute Sector of Denver. Ute is the only sector we have visas for. We will probably have a delay of about 24 hours before we can get into the CAS sector.

Jamie is going to be flaming mad if she finds out Kliko knew about this in San Francisco.

He just knows for some 24 hrs embarrassed.gif ... time to show some adaptability... twirl.gif Besides Lakeside amusement park is supposed to be an up and coming freezone .

Can't we pay a coyote to smuggle us over if time is a necesity
Bastard
I apologize for the delays, I had hinted at a few things in the ICs, hoping it would spark some questioning by the team without me having to directly state them.

The ICs for the road trip were not just fluff, though they did bog down because everyone seems to think they are unimportant, but I was trying to keep hinting at things. I have also implied, then directly stated, that the road trip was part of the mission, but it seems that this part of the story people just want to skip.

I am waiting on an email from Sneaky, then I will skip through. I know this part of the mission has dragged on, so my subtle techniques of mission clues in my fluff IC (plus my OoC posts) obviously did not work.

I need a couple of things before I move ahead to the next boarder:

Each driver - make 5 Driving (Car) Tests, 5 Intelligence Tests and 3 Willpower Tests
Each navigator - make 3 Intelligence Tests and 3 etiquette Tests
Each player - make 2 Wilderness Survival Tests (or Willpower Tests)

Hi everyone, sorry to butt in.
Please consider me if you ever want another player.
I'm looking to play a shaman specialising in astral combat with wilderness survival skills.
I mention it because I notices a survival roll in your recent posts, and a spirit attack. smile.gif
Thanks.
Kliko
ohoh eek.gif , we're being attacked by spirits?

Alas, subtlety. I have also tried to use subtlety in Shadowrun. My players ended up entirely frustrated. At this point, I am being very overt and my players are still quibbling over whether to take up the plotlines.

I recommend having Bubba miss a check in if you want overt. I'll post my rolls in just a bit.

Make a post here and look at the character creation rules.

The game is an ongoing campaign, so we will be taking more players later when this mission is completed if/when I have drops. Make a post at the linked thread, that way I will remember to send you a message again during the next recruitment.

And enable your Private Messenger Box so I can email you.
Bastard
Can you all just copy and paste your rolls under a spoiler like this
[ Spoiler ]

It is easier to read, because the links are light blue on white background. I go on an honor system, and the links don't matter. If you wanted to you can just keep using the dice roller until you get the roll you want then link it, so really, the link does not prove anything what so ever. Half the fun of Shadowrun is when you fail a roll and have to wiggle your way out of it anyways, IMHO.

Now, I will start working through all these rolls and bump your trip to the next snag. Yes, major snag, since no one, including Bubba (in character, as the player knows all about east Utah), thought it not to be wise to ride a motorcycle at an elevation of 6000 feet and climbing, in adverse weather conditions (Last IC, Approximate Elevation: 6000 Feet Approximate Weather Conditions: 45 degrees Fahrenheit, Clear), "For now the mountains remain to the right of the caravan, however they will have to cut through them at some point and make their way over the Rockies."

I know not everyone knows IRL how much the Rockies suck, but that is why I slowed down and gave you guys time to make some legwork checks (or google searches) as I hinted that this was no easy feat, crossing multiple boarders, driving through the Rockies in the winter, etc.

Also, no one purchased snow chains, and I have driven enough times through the Sierras from California to Reno, and through the Denali Mountains from Fairbanks to Anchorage (though the elevation is not the problem, but trust me, it gets cold), to know that they are necessary at times. In fact, going across the Sierras you will not be allowed to pass at times with out them.

Rockies Map
Denver weather averages
Denver elevation around 6000 ft. (5280 ft = 1 mile)

Let me know if this came off as cunty. Just trying to show my reasoning for not jumping you guys ahead and why the thread was bogged down. I was trying to let you know you guys were missing something, and I do not mean to be a dick.

I'm good. I fully expected this road trip to suck. And we haven't even met any Piasma yet. I'll adjust my post shortly.

Anything I can do to help?

Since when? j/king

Hey Bubba is just following his fearless leader! /points at Kliko... grinbig.gif To add to your comment, in RL, I have already had to chain up once this year heading to California from Elko Nevada over Thanksgiving. Chains are mandatory at times or you will not be allowed to cross in several locations, even if you have a 4x4. If you recall, I asked what the weather was like on the way to Vegas? I had a feeling it was going to get ugly for Bubba on the bike, but he's just a dumb troll that grew up in California and no one wanted him because he has hygiene issues. Bubba knows very little about snow except for hiking to Shasta and he is only good for muscle/ body shield with the occasional smart moment that surprises all.

I figured I would play along and adapt accordingly... I was hoping you would have done some more IC about what was happening on the roads and the concerns the players were having with the driving conditions before you spelled it out. But hey... we can adjust now.
ntwi
I certainly didn't think about Bubba on the bike, and I guess my personal experience with mountains, either the Sierra in California and the Cascades up here in Washington have led me to think of chains as almost standard gear for vehicles. The OOC experiences I've had playing in the southwest in winter haven't gone too far north of Zion/Bryce Canyon and so I didn't think much about road conditions. By the time March rolls around I don't tend to think of the Sierra's as being any problem. Sure there's plenty of snow on the ground but the roads are clear. Never really considered the differences between the Sierras and the Rockies.

For Felix buying a set of chains should be doable just about anywhere in the mountains. Road conditions he's not too concerned with, as when they start to turn bad he plans to summon a Force 3 spirit (Air or Earth) to use it's guard power on the vehicles. As conditions get worse, he'll summon something up to Force 6 or beyond depending on his and others assessment of the situation.

GUARD
Type: P • Action: Complex • Range: LOS • Duration: Sustained
Guard power gives the being the ability to prevent any
accident—both natural and those caused by the accident
power—within the terrain controlled by the being.

The bike poses a bigger problem, and when Felix realizes it is a problem, he may suggest finding an airport to park it in long term parking and having Bubba ride in the SUV.
klinktastic
I guess I kind of assumed that by end of March, the weather has usually calmed down considerably. I'm from Chicago, so by the end of March, I'm outside playing soccer again for sure. Now obviously not a mile up in the air, but still similar longitude (or latitude).

I just have one thing to say:

Felix will hit Bubba, Kliko, and himself with Force 1 Healthy Glow. No idea if it will help with the smell, but it can't hurt.

Felix uses this as part of his morning ritual, but as his trauma dampner will eliminate the L stun if he fails the resistance roll I haven't been rolling it each day. He'll hit himself again and Kliko to show that he's using it on everyone.

Will put up an IC post after breakfast
Bastard
What are you checking?
Kliko
Putting on the tire-chains wink.gif
Bastard
You are trying to put them on now?
Kliko
No, when the snow gets worse. Don't want to risk a fine. I've put on tire chains high up in the Alps under very bad weather conditions. Its hard work (the outdated and rusted chains didn't help either, moderns systems are a lot simpler and easier to use).
klinktastic
I can default on build/repair rotor's for the vehicles.
Bastard
Yeah... they are simple... except the fourth one always seems to be difficult.

Just one roll for each vehicle? Or 4 rolls per vehicle? Oh yeah, how do I get 6s to reroll automatically on Invisible Castle?

Felix is calling Dorian Grey (his other fixer type contact) to have him arrange a travel pass for John Hallett in the CAS Sector and will ask how much more it will cost to get the rest of the Denver zones (although I think I can skip Aztechnology)

Felix is expecting to pay a little more than the usual price (let me know if that's >500 nuyen to you) to get this done quick

Rolls if needed

If I come across annoyed or whatever, it's not at you guys but at my face to face group.

The mission I was running they managed to completely botch and go sideways on a simple job, ending with them unknowingly delivering a 12 kilo charge of plastic explosive to their Johnson. The mission was simple enough that even my wife, a non-gamer for the most part was staring at them going "What are you thinking/doing?"
galenbd
Someone submitted visas for all the other zones. Jamie does not know about it. I thought it was Felix.

Galen
ntwi
QUOTE (ntwi @ Nov 13 2010, 08:51 PM) *
While we are dealing with getting visas, Felix will submit visa applications to all the Denver sectors (other than Aztech) for both his Rating 4 (Cory Jenkins) and Rating 6 (John Hallett III) SINs. They will be submitted in different orders at different times with the usual reasonable degree of paranoia, but he'd like his escape route ID to be cleared for wherever he happens to go.

Doh, guess I don't need to make that call to Dorian Grey after all. Although I never filled the paperwork out IC or gave details beyond simply stating that I was going to submit them. I guess this is what happens when I don't read back through the threads completely before I post.

Felix can be either the prepared professional that already filled them out and got them submitted at least, or I can pay a friend to get them for me. Either way works for me.
galenbd
@nwti, are you going to adjust your IC post?

Galen
Kliko
Feel free to presume Kliko is content as long as somebody fixes the red tape/visa's/customs clearance.

The alternative (in his opinion) is show some fraggin adaptability.
ntwi
I'm waiting on Bastard to let me know if I need to make the call to get my old fixer working on getting me visas or if I did fill them out already. Once I know that, I'll edit my IC as needed.
Bastard
Your fixer will have to do some creative work to get your visas done. The problem he tells you is that each sector does their own back ground check and most will not only require passing through the Front Range Free Zone immigration paperwork check, but also the country's paperwork. This causes a backlog and it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months to get a visa.

However, a fake one can be created, depending on how much you want to spend. Their cost will be two times that of a SIN (you will receive SIN + visa if desired), though a rush job may add to it.

EDIT

Though I cannot find those numbers... Anyone know where they are? I thought they were in the SR3 CR, but I didn't see them there, or in Mr. Johnson's Little Black Book or in Shadowrun Companion. Son of a bitch.
Kliko
Shadows of North America?
